Another fantastic tutorial, I love the fact that you are not a lawn professional (probably like the majority who watch the channel) and I have to say that by following your advice over the past 6 months has really improved my lawn. Looking forward to more over the winter, I think you would be surprised how many people will still tune in over the long, dark, damp days ahead 👏👏👏
Color looks great. mine yellowing a lot. Lots of disease as it's wet all day. The sandstone paths have game green in place. This week has had a few days where the grass has actually died out. Hopefully it recovers. It seems to affect bent grass and not others. My back is bent, rye and fescue but the bent seems to be yellowing and not the rye. Same with the communal areas I over seeded.
How short are you cutting? I found tje bent in my back lawn struggled in winter when it's basically got smothered by worm cast etc, as bent is a fine blade and gets easily buried/ruined.
@@rozzer666 Seeded the front this year. 90% fine fescue but the bent took over. It a patch dies off then it will need reseeding. Its just painful as it takes 3 months to properly establish. I'll see how it goes and gravel it if it looks bad
IMO, the maintenance for an immaculate lawn is not worth it and it harms the ecosystem within your garden especially if chemicals are used for weeds etc. A garden should be nicely designed/landscaped, maintained and kept tidy, but nature finds balance so we should work with it rather than constantly fighting it. A garden with a fruiting tree or two, shrubs, flowers, grasses, and an area for growing vegetables and creating compost is a functional and happy garden. Just my opinion and I'm in no way saying you're wrong 👍
I like that view of things. Part of the reason I opted for bent/fescue was because it is a native grass. Hoping not to have to over seed it come spring.
mate, at least pluck the weeds out from the gravel.. a bit of a rake wouldnt hurt too.. lovely stripes in your grass but seem to not gaf abt anything else. Hose is all a mess. Cushions askew.. pavers need a sweep. Nice lawn lines though mate.
I agree with it being untidy, but you could have been a tad more polite about it. I know it's a bit of a mess in places, and being honest, I'm not really that bothered. I've got quite a busy life. Some basic jobs in the garden get neglected at times. I'll find a better solution/routine at some point (everyone's been there). Just be mindful of how you share your thoughts next time. I'm a person at the end of the day.
@@stevea3200 greenkeepers switch done on GOLF COURSES is before play purely to aid the sport, hard to putt with dew all over the green. is this video on a golf course? No. is he gonna do some putting practice? No. It does nothing to benefit a normal lawn unless your practicing your putting. I don't need you to employ me you jumped up idiot. If you wanna go outside and brush your lawn and look like the local weirdo then go for it big man Steve.
@@stevea3200 yes a greenkeepers switch is done on a golf course before play for the benefit of the game!! Nothing to do with improving the grass. hard to putt on grass covered in dew. I don't need you to employ me because i am good at what i do and wouldn't want to work for a clueless individual. Scott, relax. I just post videos about gardening. The channel is NoviceGardener (emphasis on 'novice'). It's not that deep. I always listen to feedback - lots of my content has changed over time based on it. But don't be rude, mate.
@@NoviceGardener I Wasn't being rude till that other dude started and has now deleted his comments because he realised he was being a tool. Good for you mate, I'm sure most of your advice is very helpful to people I just don't agree with brushing lawns with brooms that is all so I voiced my opinion, that's what happens on you tube

I now have two pet ducks in my garden, they love when I fork for worms for them so that's hopefully keeping the worm numbers down!!

Nice one mate, appreciate it!

How long have you had bent in there? Long enough to know if bounces back in spring? Was thinking of adding bent to mine next year

@@martinlogan8329 About 18mm and now around 20mm. Any longer and it looks messy as it doesn't stand up like rye

Brushing the dew on your lawn is the same as showering whilst eating your dinner. Utterly ridiculous
@stevea3200 been a professional gardener for 15 years and specialise in lawn care. Ridiculous comment from an absolute 🔔 end. Big man Steve you toilet
