This channel is the hidden gem of YT. It's not your average monotonous information physics video or the video that has nice graphics but limited information, it's the combination of both.
High production value. Engaging presentation. Precise terminology and consistent justification of assumptions. You are making some of the most consistently high quality physics education videos out there. Thanks. I can't wait to use these with my students next year. Great job. With the scissors, are you hinting that in the last video in the series you are going to shave your hair?
Wow, that is some high praise. Thank you very much for the kudos and please do use my videos with your students; that is why I am creating them. As far as the scissors, no, I will not be shaving my head. You many not have noticed my many hair issues in the video, however, I did. At that particular moment, there was a lock of hair sticking up alfalfa style and watching the video just made me want to cut it.
I have been really, really scared of physics, but your unique approach and flow of thought with regard to these concepts help a newbie like me to learn very well! Thank you, Mr. P. I will continue to watch these videos, 50% for fun and 50% for the joy of learning as if I belong to your classroom.
Because he likely has a passion for it; most teachers do not. They become a teacher to get a job, instead of as a career choice. They end up taking out their displeasure on their students who then suffer for it. School as we knew it, is becoming obsolete. I've only ever had a handful of teachers that actually had a passion. I learned Calculus from a fantastic lady in College when all the other math professors just spewed gibberish I didn't understand. She engaged the class and instead of regurgitating the book ( meaning they don't know the material ) she rephrased everything in her own way and if you had a question about it, she could rephrase it a hundred different ways ( meaning she knows the material ). Too many teachers regurgitate and do not deviate from the text in the book; and when we pay for a class, we expect the kind of experience I got from the female professor ( who was a temp / sub ) instead of the experience I got from the majority of tenured professors that didn't know the material intimately.
Just starting to cover projectile motion with my students and tips for them on how to approach projectile motion problems are always good. Fun and comprehensive. Thanks.
Thank you so much. I have been watching you since you had around 1000 subs. You have helped me ace the AP physics 1 final with all your videos relating to AP Physics 1. Thank you so much for taking your time and making these videos. Much love ❤️👍
Thank you so much for this! My AP teacher skimmed over this topic very quickly, this helped me understand this concept much better. Thanks for the 5,4,3,2,1 pattern aswell! :D
Wow, thank you so very much for this video!! I am really struggling with this concept and you have really cleared it up for me!!! Thanks again for the dedication and hard work you put into these videos!!:D
4:14 ,I think in that environment The Vx is not constant, Due to air resistance the Vx0 (Beginning) > Vxa (At point a), The Vx is constant IF There is no air around the projectile (Vacuum Condition)
I show these videos to my classes in Dallas (high school kids) and they LOVE THEM!!! Thank you!!! I wish I could share you would share your resources with me :) I am a new teacher this year...I teach AP Physics C: Mechanics, Intro to Physics and Algebra I.
+Ms. Pendleton Glad you are using my videos with your students and they are enjoying them. It is enough currently to create this videos and teach part-time simultaneously, therefore, I am not sharing my resources (other than all of these free videos which I provide).
+Flipping Physics Thank you VERY much! They are awesome. (earlier I responded using my personal account...I had to change it to my "teacher" account) :)
It is in free fall because the only force of significance acting upon it, is the force of gravity. In the x-direction, there is no force acting on it, and it is proceeding in an inertial straight line (top-down view of its path) at a constant speed. In the y-direction, it is simultaneously in free fall with its x-direction motion.
I think because no other forces acting on the ball at x-direction, thus acceleration at x-direction is zero, the velocity at x-direction will not change.
Sir, you can even refer to this website and check that there is displacement in x - direction. www.physicsclassroom.com/Physics-Interactives/Vectors-and-Projectiles/Projectile-Simulator/Projectile-Simulator-Interactive
I am afraid your question is not very clear, however, I will do my best. My assumption is you are referring to the moment at 3:27 when I drop the ball and ask if the ball is accelerating in the x-direction. Because the initial velocity of the ball is zero when I drop it and the acceleration in the x-direction is zero, the ball _when dropped_ has no velocity and hence no displacement in the x-direction. When an object is in projectile motion it will have a constant velocity and therefore displacement in the x-direction. Note: In the above example when I drop the ball, the ball is _not_ in projectile motion, it is only experiencing Free Fall.
Sir I must Say that you are a good teacher.Back here in our country not in all schools but in my school and a few of them we are taught just theoretically.Rather than teaching us how to use what we study to solve daily life problems.Although my schoolmates are able to solve all the toughest problems but they do not have an experience in doing stuff practically.
+Edward Yong My suggestion is that you move on to my next few videos which are examples of solving projectile motion problems. Start with this one: th-cam.com/video/wB_Uv8P-VAo/w-d-xo.html
At 2:34 , It felt like I'm in my class. I'm like Bo. Forgetting sign conventions and directions and units and the whole class including the teacher, trying to fix it..
Ha ha, it works, I guess that's the start of most humour. I need to try and get more humour into my videos I think, but I feel a bit silly making jokes as I'm largely filming on my own. Is it just you filming and making these videos or do you have a squad? Thanks :-)

It is lovely to know you appreciate my work!
This guy is a lifesaver. These vids make physics so much more understandable.

Awesome. Thanks. (and I agree.)

Thanks Dieter! You have left me some kind comments.
So more engaging than my physics classroom :(

this is one of the best educational videos I've ever seen on youtube
Thanks! Keep on learning.

This is next level teaching right here. Hope you get picked up by major news someday or something gives you the hype you deserve
Thanks. "next level teacher" is quite a compliment.
You're creative and informative. Thankyou for saving the lives of many confused students like me and taking time to make these videos
timeless explanation!! what an amazing job
These videos are momumemtal. A real prize for those in Ap Physics
Rock on! Thanks.
You know... this is passion. You sir, have created your own form of art.

May i ask, why the motion of projectile is free falling motion? Thank you 🙏🏼😊
It is in free fall because the only force of significance acting upon it, is the force of gravity. In the x-direction, there is no force acting on it, and it is proceeding in an inertial straight line (top-down view of its path) at a constant speed. In the y-direction, it is simultaneously in free fall with its x-direction motion.
I don't understand why the acceleration is zero and the velocity is constant in x-direction at 3:58.
I think because no other forces acting on the ball at x-direction, thus acceleration at x-direction is zero, the velocity at x-direction will not change.
Thank you! I love your shirts (and hair) by the way.
You are welcome. I sell the shirts, by the way. 😀

Sir but the ball moves some distance in the x direction. Since it doesn't fall in the same y-direction.
can you help me out

You are soooo welcome. Glad you are now found.
wooow you are a amazing teacher
+iresh arachchige thanks. (trying to stay humble)
wow! thanks now i can teach my students well about projectile ...
That's awesome! Glad to help out a fellow teacher.
Please reply as fast as possible o have my exams tomorrow .
Should'nt it be -0.087 since displacement os negative
Did you serve in the Royal Navy during the 16th and 17th century??
Probably. That part of my life is a bit of a hazy memory right now.
Hmm.....Do you remember any of the battles??
As I recall, they were mostly depressing.
At 00:58 I felt like I'm going on a war!!
Why is acceleration due to gravity negative
What is the direction of the force of gravity?
So the v initial in x direction = v final in x direction since it is constant
In projectile motion the velocity in the x-direction is constant.
GREAT EXPLANATION
What are the variables?

You obviously love Physics and believe in flipping and that comes through strongly in your videos.
I am shocked you don't have that much views.
I feel the same way.
