I love those controllers. You can turn anything with a screen into a gaming device. I got my kiddo a SteelSeries stratus XL from ebay for like 20 bucks. They still work great and do the exact same thing except you need a dock or something to set your tablet on.
you CAN easily emulate A LOT of consoles (I was emulating wii and Gamecube, PS2, there is also NDS and bunch of retro emulators) on Apple devices with AltStore (completely legit software - they have twitter, constant updates and such). The only two downsides are: on a regular (non developer/paid) apple account you get only 3 sideloaded apps working at the same time (and that's including AltStore app, so basically only two). The other downside is - all sideloaded apps have a timer to work only 7 days, you have to hit 'update' in altstore every once in a week to keep the apps alive. Whole thing is pretty easy to install, but you must have a Mac or a desktop to install it. Also, the account information it will request during the install is normal - you don't give anything to them - it's the Apple's API(?) so that it grants access to your tablet to sideload apps like Dolphin emulator or Play! emulator (ps2). Should I mention that you can sideload TH-cam with no ads? :)))))
About 5-10 years ago there was a rush of very cheap Windows tablets that sold for well under $100. Most had 2GB of RAM and a quad-core Atom. I always considered them prime candidates for convenient dedicated emulation machines, running Lakka or something similar. Maybe you could grab a few of those and see what you can do with them.
@@laminnabam2299 only retro emulators *hopefully* means just not emulators for current gen (looking at Yuzu), which is fine by me. Some retroarch cores would be appreciated
Regardless apple devices become obsolete and won't be able to use those emulators when they are old enough so it's never a permanent solution with apple devices even if they do allow easier access to emulation.
It is still difficult to do gaming emulation on ipads and iphones. Otherwise it will be an easy choice just to buy a ipad for emulation gaming purpose.
yeah its still a pain in the ass and one problem if you finally did it after 30min they start to throttle down the cpu and dimming the screen because they overheating (atleast my ipad did this)
AltStore - easy to install, no jailbreak needed and supported on all devices and all firmwares :) been using it for a while to play GameCube/wii (Dolphin) and PS2 games (PLAY! emulator). Also, not sure what throttling issues people had with emulation in this comments section - been playing Dolphin for couple of hours every day - no problems at all...even Spider-man 2 game didn't give me any issues (usually even on PC this game can be annoying with settings)
@@Saif0412 yeah i notice that and it was kinda annoying i sold that thing and got a samsung galaxy tab 8 plus which doesnt overheat atleast i didnt notice any overheating oder screen dimming or slow downs overall the way better tablet without sutters every 5 secs im pretty sure the ipad could have similar performance if it would stay cool
I liked the minisforum tablet you showed the other day and I have an iPad Air tablet from 2022. I just like playing on bigger screens with my Amazon Luna controller. It's just wild that there are quite a few options for handheld gaming these days.
If I buy a tablet, I want it to do all of the things i want it to do, regardless of the cost.. the S9 series might be expensive, but it can do more and that's all I need to know. Ipad isn't a bad tablet, it's just not for me. Now if I ever find a purpose for this tablet, maybe I'll get one to add to my collection.
I got an equivalent ipad air 2020 having the same processor for 80 bucks. I thought it was a scam but seller had good rating and an established account.
Better off getting a Steam Deck or even a Switch OLED, you’ll be able to play actual games on those machines. I don’t condone Apples practices on how they allow a bunch of shovelware on the App Store. Most games are watered down. If you want to game on an iPad I would wait to see if apple allows side loading through out all regions and wait for the M2 chip. The A14 chip is dated.
Ayo can I see you play games on the Xiaomi pad 6 max that you reviewed way back? They just released Call of Duty Warzone Mobile and I'd like to see how that tablet runs it.
I could only get 1 lower vost tablet so I chose the Lenovo P11 Pro Gen 2 for the Oled 1600p 120hz screen since media consumption is the main thing I use tablets for.
No side loading is deal breaker sorry no easy side loading as apple makes it as hard as possible to side load .. you should see the childish things that apple pulls then they had to comply with EU rules on third party markets .. you should review the xiaomi pad 6s pro as it's the same CPU as the Samsung but a bit cheaper
Really grateful to you for looking at all options available and doing your usual well thought out and demonstrated analysis of some of the great use cases for an older device like this. 👍
The galaxy tab s9 FE is 1/6 the performance of the flagship tab s9 ultra. it is tab s9 in name only but its specs are comparable to galaxy tab a9 series which are budget tablets, it is more of a false advertising or duping of customers who dont know. people are better off buying this ipad 10th gen on sale (apple tried gouging with price increase but are met with low sales hence discounts now) which is cheap but can go toe to toe with previous gen iphones as it has the same powerful SOC. frankly we should buy dragon range tablets and laptops when on sale, AMD have great APU's going on with 8840u* and its derivatives...
Hi Eta, love your chanl about MiniPC -great mini user myself :) would be interested with any miniPC that could run AI models, further than simplier text & voice models, I would be looking to the more resource demanding image & video models therefore, minipc with appropriated GPU, FPGA or AI types of Cpus. Help please. I’m thinking to buy this iPad 10th Gen for my daughter. She usually plays Roblox and Minecraft. Any idea if this iPad would actually work pretty well for those apps? Thank you!
iOS just better optimization with games but with the exception that it does not have emulators except when sideloading. It may be coming to the Appstore but we will see how it goes.
sorry, but the first 2 games were show casing a terrible example of stuttering. Is that possible to see the fps in real time? I does not feel like 60...
Apple has a lot of bad things. That being said if you are in the ecosystem it is incredibly smooth and just works (most of the time). As a user of Linux, macOS (based off of Unix) and windows, Apple really shoots itself in the foot for gaming and in the enterprise. Personal computing on a daily basis, Apple has my vote for laptops. Their tablets are better but also cost more.
Your videos could use some slight editing before being published. I'm sure you heard about apple allowing emulators on the app store now. Yet in this video posted 7 hours ago, you still said emulators aren't going to be available unless you side load them. That's just simply not true anymore
