Yeah, and that was the age people use to marry their children back in that time. In fact, arranged marriages used to be very common only a century ago, and there was no such thing as "legal" age back then either.
C. Ray so a senior dating a sophomore. Aladdin was probably held back twice so maybe they could be in the same class. Just reimagine the Disney Afternoon as a high school and it totally works!
4:25, yes, he was a prince he just wasn’t a legitimate one since unlike Jafar (who wished to be a powerful sorcerer) Aladdin never bothered with the adjective
4:44, Aladdin didn’t promise that he would get the Genie freed, he promised he would wish the Genie free, giving the Lamp to Jasmine so she could wish the Genie free would not be a fulfillment of his promise
The framing device you think he abandoned is the genie, and he's the last charcter we see. (Voiced by Robin Williams, has the lamp, and if that's not enough, his hands have only three fingers instead of four)
kawairey The fact you’re asking niggas in the comments whether or not you should be worried about how your wife reacts to a guy on YT answers your own question
I just assumed they were young adults. I don’t understand why kid’s movies and shows keep making teens save the day, it’s not like it matters for the plot. And past 7 yo me is just gonna assume they are over 18.
Aladdin using his last wish then giving Jasmine the lamp for another 3 wishes actually isn't a plot hole. Doing so would not only render the entire keeping your promise lesson moot, but also renders the fact that he sees the Genie as a friend and not a tool to be used moot as well.
He did specifically promise to use his third wish to free Genie, but even if you think it important to follow it to the letter, it's still not a problem: just have Jasmine make whatever wishes first and then he can free the Genie.
Was he…? As the end of the straight-to-VHS sequels, the very final scene of the final movie, he waves to Aladdin and Jasmine when they're flying away for their honeymoon…though I guess it's weird that they knew him, but I could have sworn he wasn't the genie…Is my whole childhood a lie? :O
@@Spikey100000 The conjecture that they were the same person comes from them having the same number of fingers. I have also read that the scene was not supposed to be in the movie - it was Robin's audition trial, but was so good it was kept in. Can't prove that with official statements, though.
Yeah none of the critiques make sense. It's actually a super well written story with a tight script, no wasted scenes or dialogue. Easily competes with Lion King for the best Disney movie
@Republic Of Texas Arguing "standards of the time" as an excuse for ephebophilia is like trying to justify child prostitution just because it's still legal in some countries, which doesn't make it seem any less creepy and disgusting, in fact, it makes it the other way around. Also, many of Jasmine's suitors are clearly grown ass men, so yeah, there's definitely an ephebophilia vibe in this movie.
Also, I'm pretty sure they don't actually get married at the end. And the underage thing could be a valid complaint if people were complaining about BOTH Al and Jas being underage, because that's Disney's fault and could have been changed. But it's not like Aladdin took advantage of Jasmine's age. They are too close in age for it to matter even by most of today's laws.
@@waitaminutewhoarrrrru Nope Aladdin being 18 going after a 15 year old is pretty creepy. Its a valid complaint. By today's standards they are not too close in age for it to matter. Unless you count the states that have no age limit which in my opinion is really creepy as well.
0:14 They were going to get back to the shopkeeper guy but once the law concerning who the princess can marry is amended and the genie leaves the movie is over.

Evowizard pretty sure she’s 15 or 16 but he’s like 18-20. But that’s really not that abnormal in history or other countries that aren’t the US. Not the best maybe but that argument is not only another thing but really doesn’t matter when that’s period accurate for the time we presume the movie to be in
Yeah, and that was the age people use to marry their children back in that time. In fact, arranged marriages used to be very common only a century ago, and there was no such thing as "legal" age back then either.
he was 18
She’s 15 turning 16. He was originally 17 but canon made him 18. So 2 years difference. Not a big deal even in the US
C. Ray so a senior dating a sophomore. Aladdin was probably held back twice so maybe they could be in the same class. Just reimagine the Disney Afternoon as a high school and it totally works!
The real Pitch meeting: _Hey... do you guys know that 2019 movie called Aladdin? How 'bout we do that BUT with drawings?_

4:25, yes, he was a prince he just wasn’t a legitimate one since unlike Jafar (who wished to be a powerful sorcerer) Aladdin never bothered with the adjective
4:44, Aladdin didn’t promise that he would get the Genie freed, he promised he would wish the Genie free, giving the Lamp to Jasmine so she could wish the Genie free would not be a fulfillment of his promise
tomato tomato
@@HoD999x Not really. In stories about wishing getting the technicalities right is extremely important
The framing device you think he abandoned is the genie, and he's the last charcter we see. (Voiced by Robin Williams, has the lamp, and if that's not enough, his hands have only three fingers instead of four)
The way he says 'Tight'....my wife loves it. Should I be worried....

@@waitaminutewhoarrrrru Yep. And she's not referred to as 15 anywhere in the actual movie.
I just assumed they were young adults. I don’t understand why kid’s movies and shows keep making teens save the day, it’s not like it matters for the plot. And past 7 yo me is just gonna assume they are over 18.

took me a minute to absorb the "A Lad in a City" joke. Well done sir
Original Aladdin > remake... probably an unpopular opinion but the orginal was soo well done and iconic. My favorite Disney movie. Hands down.
Aladdin using his last wish then giving Jasmine the lamp for another 3 wishes actually isn't a plot hole. Doing so would not only render the entire keeping your promise lesson moot, but also renders the fact that he sees the Genie as a friend and not a tool to be used moot as well.
He wouldn't need a 3rd wish if the 1st wish actually did it's job :P
He did specifically promise to use his third wish to free Genie, but even if you think it important to follow it to the letter, it's still not a problem: just have Jasmine make whatever wishes first and then he can free the Genie.

Wasn’t the shopkeeper at the start suppose to be genie ?
Correct!
Yeah and they do come back to him!
@@Wandergirl108 yes he was it’s literally shown somewhere but I don’t know where, I thought it was in the movie
@@Spikey100000 The conjecture that they were the same person comes from them having the same number of fingers. I have also read that the scene was not supposed to be in the movie - it was Robin's audition trial, but was so good it was kept in. Can't prove that with official statements, though.
“No we’ll never see him again”
The Aladdin sequels: are we a joke to you?
I love how you say "Super easy, barely an inconvenience" always the exact same manner, with exact timing, so I can sing along
1:40 - a Parrot who's shown more than once to be capable of carrying the lamp so... xD
But Alladin is also underage. He’s 17.
Yeah none of the critiques make sense. It's actually a super well written story with a tight script, no wasted scenes or dialogue. Easily competes with Lion King for the best Disney movie
Aladdin is 18, not 17. So he is technically an adult thirsting after a teenager.
I knew he was going to bring up the "don't you dare close your eyes"
I love how they always tie into one of their news articles.
Was told about these pitch meetings from a co worker... these are the funniest vids to ever hit TH-cam!

I just now noticed that this is a "super easy barely an inconvenience" joke
0:14 They were going to get back to the shopkeeper guy but once the law concerning who the princess can marry is amended and the genie leaves the movie is over.
I always thought it was such a rip off that when the genie “grants” Aladdin’s wish to become a prince, all he did was give him a parade and a make over. He didn’t make him a prince, otherwise he would be ruling a real country or something.
These are so good. I've gotten to the point that when I watch them I just go ahead and like them before even watching.
I never saw Aladdin this way and pitch meeting showed it to me in a new light. Thank you XD
Jafar didn't "send" the magic carpet to the arctic with Aladdin. Watch the scene again; the carpet jumps in at the last second as Aladdin is being launched.
Yeah as much as I like Ryan. Similar to other TH-camrs that talk about movies. sometimes he'll misrepresent things for the sake of a joke. Still love him, but hard to know when he's not misinterpreting a scene.
@@darksideofevil13 Like when he seems to think that Iron Man was trying to KILL Captain America,or when he failed to communicate that Zod is every bit as fast and strong and far more experienced,Producer lists all of the options that wouldn't work, only one that could work would be covering his eyes.

I'm surprised there was no mention of Aladdin's lifestyle before meeting Jasmin. He's a handsome, athletic, charismatic young man who--despite those strengths--chooses to live by stealing instead of doing anything productive.

This was uploaded on my birthday! I love the entire Pitch series 😭🥳
I liked the reference to your video from way back 3:41
Replacing Robin Williams would be super impossible, barely to be even considered.
Disney thought that but then they saw Will Smith, a good actor but the right one for the genie.
Disney: AH HA HA... AH THATS HOT, THATS HOT...
0:15 - They actually do come back to the shopkeeper guy... because he's the genie :) Whoops, spoiler. Not many people know that though.
@Axl Dave They said it actually was the Genie. It was always the fan theory but they confirmed it... I'll see if I can find one of the articles, if TH-cam lets me post links.
@@ronineditor9920 yeah, that'd be cool
He actually shows up at the end of the "Aladdin King of Thieves" direct-to-video movie (where Aladdin and Jasmine finally do get married).
I think the merchant at the start of the film is the Genie in disguise. This theory is further supported by the fact that Robin Williams also voiced the merchant.
That was the plan
1:56, the Cave doesn’t tell them not to touch anything except the lamp, Jafar tells them that. And it’s possible if not likely that Jafar is saying that as a precaution to keep them from inadvertently activating any of the booby traps but that it’s not actually the case that literally touching anything that isn’t the Lamp would activate a trap
The cave does warn them not to touch anything but the Lamp - Jafar’s offer is the lamp in exchange for the rest of the treasure
@@UnleashthePhury It’s Jafar who tells them that, not the cave

You do realize the shopkeeper in the beginning of the movie was actually the genie right?
How dat
odysseus9672 Maybe he pissed off the yakuza.
They still don't do anything with him outside of the opening, so I dont see how it matters.
That tidbit was cut from the movie for time. People thought the movie was too long. Funny considering the live action remake brought back the genie framing device and made the movie pointlessly longer.
the shopkeeper was actually the terminator this entire time
“I’m gonna need you to get off my back about this mind controlling staff, ok?”
"Oh yeah, he'd just be irreplaceable."
Dan Castellaneta says hello.

Actually the animated Aladdin had 3 movies and they showed the 'shop keeper guy' at the end of the third movie... so in a way he was telling a whole story which was divided into 3 movies🤷🏾♀️
