For this list, we’re not ordering our list based on how much we like these characters, but simply on which are good at their jobs and which aren’t. For me Altair is still the number one. He was an Assassin for most of his life and he had a synchronisation bar not a health bar, meaning he was never hit outside of cutscenes.

You should say altaïr AND ezio, ezio is he's follower, he was the master assassin, the only missing thing is he was not an assassin before owning his father's robes.
For me, the AC lore says it all. Altair was known for his wisdom for studying the apple for most of his later years while Ezio was known for his skills and talent as he was the greatest mentor the brotherhood had. This is also proven by the line "Desmond, armed with the wisdom of Altair and the skills of Ezio."
Ezio was the most skilled assassin.

I think Shay should really be considered top tier in the aspect that he is an Assassin hunter. This means he is able to counter Assassin tactics, which I believe takes a great deal of skill!
His skills were said to have grown a lot when hunting assassins and he was a templar at that point.As an assassin he wasnt that great but still very good

Why is Altair never placed at No 1? HE IS THE ASSASSIN everyone that started early played with. He introduced the series and is the best even in Ezio’s lifetime. Started as an assassin and lived as an assassin. Ezio gets more sequels but that is the only advantage he has. Ezio is my personal favourite but if we’re talking about the best assassin, it’s Altair without a doubt.

Usman, I think it's more of that Altair get caught more than Ezio, Ezio at most messed up in the Vatican City and maybe Venice, he most of the time assassinated his targets in stealth and you see this in AC2, considering that most Templars don't even know who the assassin was, only Rodrigo Borgia, even in Venice when he shot the Doge on his boat in front of everyone, no one knew who did it cause he wear a mask during it, meanwhile when Altair killed someone, there's a chase scene and the whole city is on lockdown and bells are ringing to find you, he even have to hide in the Assassin's Bureau until the heat dies down
@@flarethefolf78 It was a game mechanic, to increase the difficulty of the game as you progress further in the story. I think he deserves praise for being able to carry out any assassination despite the fact that everyone knows who he is, unlike Ezio who was particularly unknown. Their mission difficulties are already different but that standard. I love Ezio too. Brotherhood is my favourite in the series.
Altair is 100% the best assassin. He doesn't even have a health but rather a synchronization bar which indicates that he basically never took damage. He was also the only one we know of that was raised from really young to be an assassin. He's been an assassin his whole life and he was damn good at it. Whilst Ezio was really great, even Ezio acknowledges that Altair was one of the best.
That's not cannon, that's a broken theory created by fans, that's not the reason he has a synchronization bar, the reason is just esthetic, it's the first game, the devs wasn't sure how to make the esthetics of the game, it could be ANYONE as the protagonist of AC 1, they still would have the same bar.
For me, it's Altaïr 1rst, Ezio 2nd. By the way, a codex page in Ac 2 reveals it was the way of the 3rd crusade Brotherhood to assassinate targets with spectacle.
@@sthepcorms6747 then explain why the synchronization bar even dropped when you hit innocents if it was a regular health bar? It cant be Altair who got damaged when hitting innocents, right? And your arguement about "it could be ANYONE" is just silly... The synchronization bar is supposed to show how well Desmond is synched with Altair, if it dropped, that means Desmond did sth that Altair didnt back then, and if it drops because you took a hit against an enemy, that means Altair never got hit by him.
I know its just a video game and that it still is supposed to be a health bar in the end, the synch bar is just an excuse for it, i know what you mean and understand it, but we are talking about the lore here, and the lore with the animus in AC1 only makes sense if we think about Altair not even getting hit once outside the cutscenes.
Ezio is still the goat assassin for me tho. Altair not getting hit once is good for him, doesnt benefit the brotherhood tho. Ezio made the brotherhood way bigger than it ever was with Altair, doesnt matter if he did that whilst learning from him

The sync bar is the animus losing it’s memory that’s what it literally means, it isn’t just some cool thing they added, when the sync bar goes down that’s the animus losing it’s memory

Connor was capable of taking on an entire army practically singlehandedly, Ezio rebuilt the brotherhood and was the biggest driving force behind the dismantling of the Borgias, and Altair reformed the Assassins into something better than what they were just after he took down his mentor while he held a freaking Piece of Eden (The Frye twins did take on someone holding a Piece of Eden as well, but they weren't fucking Al Mualim)
I loved all the AC’s, and yes this does include the last 3 RPG’s. Bayek and Ezio are my favorite protagonists.
I loved Bayek as a character, Origins will still remain one of my favourites of the franchise

I loved the duality of his rage and his empathy with others, he was actually a really good character with splendid voice acting. The story has some holes and some out of place moments, but Bayek really stood out for the whole experience.
I've played all AC games (just haven't finished Valhalla yet) and *Origins* is my absolute favorite.

@@alexbastos6960 Origins is my favorite, too. With the AC games coming to PlayStation Plus, I’ve just started Unity. Maybe like 4 hours in and the parkour is amazing. I’ve played everyone except Unity and Rogue. I’ve been on an AC binge this year. Played Syndicate, Origins, Odyssey, Valhalla, and Black Flag. By the end of the year, I’m going to run through all of the main titles in the series again.
Okay bro, Kenway in black flag is the most badass assasin the series has ever seen. He’s heartless in battle and the fact that he’s a pirate makes it even better.
Honestly, a lot of the complaints about the newer games seem to stem from childish opinions about ‘oh this isn’t the Assassins Creed I like so it isn’t Assassins Creed. Look. As a series goes on, companies have to change up the formula to prevent the series going stale so all you purists can just grow up
Altair will always be my favorite. AC1 was my first PS3 game I ever played and owned so it always held a special place
Same bro the graphics were INSANE to me, the diffrence on graphics between ps2 and ps3 were absolutely crazy... thats why assassins creed 1 was my absolute favourite everything seem so realistic and unreal and tbh it still holds up to today in my opinion
AC1 is the first game i played, and also the best AC game imo.

I agreed with this list until number 2 when it went on popularity, give some crap reason to justify putting Altair second. Ezio was a great Assassin and everyone favourite Assassin but it doesn't mean the best. Altair accomplished so much throughout his life and in Assassin's Creed apart from the cut scenes Altair never took an hit so his skill level is that beyond any other Assassin seen in all AC games

I think ezio was better. Even though Altair never took a hit, ezio was more knowledgeable. Being an assassin's for me is more of brains over bronze.

Altair was the only assassin to use the Apple of Eden correctly and gained so much knowledge from it & truly understood how dangerous it was. Altair also managed to see into future to make his own version of the hidden gun blade long before it was ever created. The one thing both Ezio & Altair had in common was arrogance where Altair was taught, humbled then learned by his short sightedness Ezio never had such thing throughout his whole story there was that arrogance with him. I agree it was part of what made Ezio a great assassin but he never learned by it. The thing is AC1 was the original game still finding it's & what to do where AC2 learned to improve like with Watch Dogs 1&2 because of popularity Ezio got 3 game to flush out his character where Altair had 1 & 3 short segments of AC Revelations. You say you prefer Ezio because he was more knowledgeable but yeah he learned so much through the 3 games but when it comes down to it I say it's because he's your favourite assassin character but that is how Ezio was designed to be more likeable

Arno deserved a way higher spot. He was definitely not flashy or theatric. After Bellec advises him to assassinate his targets in broad view, Arno distastefully declines and says he’d do it his own way. His own way happens to be a stealthier way.

He was an assassin recruit relatively new to the order, his skill level would be minimal and we didn’t get to see much of him as an assassin.
They're Proto-Assassins. What they do is lay the foundation for the ones who come next.

Origins is one of my favourite AC games, mainly because of that story and that Egyptian setting and definitely how much bloodthirsty Bayek was portrayed as. But I still feel like Aya should have been the protagonist of Origins rather than Bayek.
Also since you diverted from mainstream games by including Aveline, let's not forget Adewale and his carrying and liberation of the slaves and finally becoming the master of WI brotherhood. Also Shao Jun bringing the whole Templar order of China down single-handedly.

I’ve always loved ezio and he’ll always be my number 1 but I think that’s because we saw so much more playing time with ezio then we did with Altair so it was amazing that they brought him back for revelations but I also feel like ezio would’ve faced a bigger threat since times change and so does weapons and armors so I feel like that has to be taken into account
Ezio’s trilogy is roughly the same length as the new RPG games lol

In Valhalla they took annoying side content and added it into the main story. Fucking stupid. AC2 have the perfect game lenght of 20hrs. I hate having to ride a horse for 10min to get somewhere. In AC2 the horse riding is 1min max, its flawless. It respects the gamers time. Since Odyssey Ubisoft has proven they wanna waster maximum amout of your time. Greedy shits.
as someone who has completed 100% of achievements in Odyssey I can definitely say that it is perfectly possible to assassinate enemies on the game, as long as you set your skills properly. I'll always be fond of Bayek bc Origins was the first AC I've ever played, followed by Odyssey and Valhalla. Eivor and Kassandra hold a very special place in my heart as I care more about the gameplay than I do about the whole story 😅 interesting video to know about the other Assassins though
Altair should easily be 1 without a doubt, people who disagree don’t understand simple words and terms and connect an entire fantasy in their head to line up with their claims.. Bayek and Ezio are the only ones who you could put 2 and 3 depending on what you base it on
Ezio is 2nd surely but for me Altair's skills are outmatched and he is the most professional assassin, who doesn't care about anything but getting his target , when it comes to retrieve info or stealth he is superior

Perhaps but Ezio is the best balanced one. He had conceptually employed all possible methods of subterfuge, infiltration, evasion and assassination in the game, ranging from surveillance, poison, to crude form of long distance assassination, etc all the while trying to rebuild an actual brotherhood that paved the way for those that came next.. Weapons expertise is not to be underestimated, I loved how he combines the hidden blade and his hook blade skills in AC revelations and his Gun and Sword executions mash is pretty satisfying to pull off.

I like Evie way better than Jacob, and she's better at stealth. Clearing an area from a flagpole with throwing knifes to the head was something I enjoyed, why oh why did she lose that cloaking ability for Jack the Ripper
If I could play as Aya a lot more, that would just encourage me to buy the game faster 🙄, why would they think the opposite 🤔
The first Assassin's Creed is the one I don't have on PS4 😥, heard a rumor it's getting a remake (although if true I'll probably need that PS5). I got the director's cut on Steam, but the story isn't all that different and mods seem to be lacking. Setting up the controller was a pain too. If there aren't much in the way of mods, consoles are probably the way to go here lol 😝
Shay was an Assassin in the first few sequences, but your jest putting him above Ezio had me worried. Am I glad the Ezio Collection fixed the muted dialogue for Assassin's Creed 2 Sequence 12 & Sequence 13 that I experienced on Xbox 360 👍

I would’ve swapped Eivor & the Odyssey siblings. The ability to toggle instant assassinations is a point in E’s favor, but it feels to me like a piece of Gameplay to be taken as seriously as wearing Ezio’s robes in Roman Alexandria. Another Gameplay aspect to go over though was that Valhalla was made to be slower, heavier, & more brutal than previous installments. Even when I couldn’t pull one shot assassinations with Kassandra, I was always better at finishing the job quietly with her than E

Number one is Altair, period. He was the fastest to become master assasin. He was never hit by any enemy in ac creed 1. Also he was sent on solo missions to hunt down templar captains. And he also bested his own mentor in a duel, even when his mentor used the Apple of eden in the fight against him. Altair wqs just a beast, imagine if he wasn’t cast out.

Kassandra is actually able to one shot almost any enemy if you make a stealth build, most of the bounty hunters I’ve killed were one shotted, and even if you don’t one shot you can finish them with the ability that uses stealth damage and no one will notice

People not saying Altair just never played the game I feel like or don’t know about Altair. He might not be your favorite character, but he was most definitely the most influential of all the assassins and held the greatest feats. He was never even touched in combat in his life, yet became a master assassin at the young age of 24, the youngest there ever was.
Arno, Evie, Shay, and Ezio are great. I would like to have play as Elise.

I mostly agree with this except I would say Arno deserves far higher, maybe 3rd or 4th. He has really good stealth skills, possibly better than any other assassin except for Ezio and Altaïr.
For me Ezio is my favorite character in the series and one of the best in gaming but Altair was an Assassin from birth to death. But without question Altair and Ezio are the only ones who could be considered top 2
I might be biased since Rogue was my first AC game, but still Shay had to be one of the deadliest and dedicated protagonists out there merely the fact he killed alot of high ranking templars and single handedly destroyed the colonial brotherhood then spent his entire life finding the box so no one could cause destruction again.

Nah 100% Altair beats them all! He was raised in the the order and he was very stealthy, he could blend in almost anywhere by just pretending to be a monk.

With ac Odyssey at the lowest spot I’m gonna have to disagree. You can’t assassinate every enemy every time because the game wants you to grind and discover what works best with different things thus giving you a longer experience. I can guarantee you can assassinate every cultist and every basic enemy if you have the right build. With the right build you can one shot most if not all cultists with a single arrow to the head. with the right build, you can kill EVERY boss with a single over power attack. If you’re not able to assassinate simple brute guards, you have a terrible build. It’s that simple. But Kassandra/Alexios are probably the most skilled fighters out of all characters. They’ve literally defeated Medusa, cyclops’s, Hades, Hermes etc.
The Origins of the Brotherhood was in the fucking dlc wich IS better than the Main game

I think Shay was a good assassin because he was loyal and even saw that the brotherhood was in the wrong for killing innocents and not follow the tedints shay was strong enough to see though the brotherhood and tried to save them from their stupidity. So yes he has problems with his character written but I think was a ok character.

Not sure why Aveline is above Connor she is the assassin under him as he is American Mentor and master assassin. She is never even close to being as effective as him.
There are 6 assassin recruits in AC3 and there is a mini game to level them up, each one of them has their own ability as well.
It could just be me, but, I have always felt the earliest pseudo-itineration of the assassins in this series was Grant DeNasty from Castlevania 3. Small, agile, great jumper, able to scale walls, used a throwing dagger or a smaller up close one.
My favorite is Conner Kenway
Even in the lore it was said that Ezio was the most skilled/deadly Assassin of history, it is canon. There is no point of debating. Apparantly he has killed about 90k people. Doubt that anyone else could keep up with that bodycount.
People always bring up how Edward wasn't an assassin for most of Black Flag but never acknowledge the same about Ezio in AC2 also why did they say he killed one of the few genuine assassins we meet? He only killed one and that dude was a traitor anyways

I'd argue edward's place in the tierlist personally, as we know from syndicate that he eventually became a master assassin of the British brotherhood, so he surely would possess a great deal of skill as an assassin, though if we are talking about purely the character in the game then my point is moot.
I like most of the characters in assassins creed. The only one I didn’t like was Jacob. It’s hard to rank all of the assassins skills. When Ubisoft didn’t really put any effort in there fighting abilities and skill’s. Besides Altair and Ezio their fighting abilities & skills were amazing for it’s time. I feel like the other characters had good potential of being great assassins but Ubisoft didn’t take the time or effort to program them with better skills and there stories as well. Ubisoft is all about the money and Ubisoft lost how assassin’s Creed games were supposed to be. My honest opinion it’s just sad and I feel bad for the characters. I feel like they were cheated out of their own game and they’re own skills. Again my honest opinion it’s hard to rank any of these characters when Ubisoft cheated them. That’s what makes it so hard. I have spent so much money on assassin Creed games and they’re DLC’s and their weapons and all the supplies. please tell me there not all about the money because we all know they are all about the money. Evior doesn't wear his hidden blade wrong, in ac odyssey it was actually revealed that it was originally meant to be placed on the outer arm soooooo yea.
I think Shay is definitely one of the deadliest. He's very intelligent and very versatile. Only Ezio, Altair and imo Connor Kenway are more dangerous. Shay knows all the tricks of the Assassins. He can track them down and kill them. He solo'd the entire brotherhood. He's not without weakness, in an open fight Bayek could beat him, but Shay wouldn't give him a chance, he could attack him in stealth, a main weakness for Bayek. "Modern" Assassin's are just better, because they also have better and more effective equipment, the only exceptions are probably Ezio and Altair, because they are just that good. It's Shays wide range of tricks, weapons, and knowledge of being both a Templar and an Assassin, that make him the fourth deadliest character. And my personal favourite of the series.

But I think people give to much flak for People like Kassandra or Eivor Not being 'Assassins"
Remembering that the brotherhood didn't exist in kassandras time or in the case of Eivor hadn't really gained traction unlike in Altairs time
I think people are too nostalgic for the early assassins creed games spectacular they are and are blind to the current way things are and are heading
Agreed, I thought the same thing. Kassandra was just a mercenary trying to reunite her family. Eivor fights for her clan. They're proto assassin and allies assassin respectively. And given their timeline its fits them.

they clearly want to make more Immortals Fynix rising content but its Assassins Creed brand that sells. as an AC fan, yeah, it pisses me off, but its not because im nostalgic, the current game design for these AC RPG games are mediocre at best with most mechanics ripped right out of Far Cry
Kassandra is essentially the first Proto-Assassin & as for Eivor, her journey is the reason for the name change of the Order into the Templars.

I guess everyone forgets about the fact that you actually have to invest resources into assassinations in odyssey. Once you get the critical assassination ability you can kill almost anyone

You can definitely 1 shot assassinate almost every npc in odyssey. You can even one shot bosses with the right gear and build type. That’s kinda the rpg element of the game.
I’m not dissing ezio at all he’s the best assassin skill wise ever but him talking about bayek wanting to avenge his family as not apart of the brother hood that’s legit what the whole 2nd assassins creed was😭

don't complain about eivor way of wearing hidden blade. it's more of a proper way and the ACTUAL way to wear the hidden blade unless the wearer wants to lose its ring finger.
The title is misleading. You said "ranked by skill", but all you're doing is ranking the characters based on "are they following the tenets of the Brotherhood?". While a good question to ask, this is not the same thing at all.
For example, there is no doubt that Kassandra/Alexios, regardless of how "bad" at being assassins they are, are also among the most skilled fighters, trackers and overall warriors in the entire franchise. Same with Bayek. And the fact that Eivor manages to hold her own against a centuries-old Kassandra, who has, therefore, an unfathomable amount of combat experience, speaks volumes to her own skills.
Then, there's Arno, Evie and Jacob's cases. Arno, for example, is a good swordman, though not as good as others like Ezio or Altair. However, just like Evie and less so Jacob, he is an excellent planner, and each of his assassinations in Unity, when done the "intended way", showcase his planning skills. The fact that, in the end, he won the conflict between modern day Templars and Assassins for the Brotherhood more than 200 years before said conflict happened, simply by a bit of forward thinking, is testament to his own strategically sound mind. Likewise, Evie and Jacob can plan complex tactics and strategies to get what they want, and do so with high levels of success.
Altair is another interesting case: as far as fighters go, he might be the best in the franchise, by a fair margin. He has canonically never been tagged in combat, despite living in a very violent and volatile time and place, he lived until his 80s, dying of old age despite having lived his entire life a sword in his hand. And given that, out of all the assassins in the franchise, he's pretty average in size and build, it stands to reason to think that, much less his physical appearence, it's his sheer skill alone that got him so far. So, again, dismissing his extremely high levels of skill with a weapon kinda goes against the title of the video.

Eivor does not use the hidden blade incorrectly. If you played the oddessey DLCs which are canon, you see Darius, the first user of the hidden blade, wielding it over arm, just like Eivor. So technically speaking, all subsequent assassins use it wrong and Eivor is actually a genius.
another Smaller grievance: Aya was basically the one that started the whole idea of the assassins, so by some logic she's doing it right and should rank higher as others just deviate from her methods/vision

It's called HIDDEN blade, but it's not well hidden if it stands on top of the wrist. Even Darius actually wielded it wrong, Eivor too.

Alexios/Kassandra were way better assassin's then Eivor. Just because some people were two hit assassin's didn't mean you did not have tons of stealth and asssassin skills. If you actually specced into the stealth tree, you would find that you can basically one tap everyone in the game besides some bosses. So if anything they're a better assassin, because they learn to become one.

Huh? Cannot 1 hit cultist?? Excuse me?? You can definitely 1 hit any non-boss unit (and some boss and mercenaries) with the builds leaning towards assasin damage

Edward should be in top 5, he adapted to the assassin's world instantly. He was above avarage assassin and later became an master of assassin's.
also bayek is easily the strongest one, physically, most agile for his size and most brutal bare hands kills. It's just so wrong to put Ezio above Medjay who saved so many people, Ezio was mostly "selfish" assassin. He mostly cared for his family, the way Bayek did. Person who did the list, didn't even play these AC games.
While not an assassin. Kassandra would beat every single protagonist in the series in direct combat.
Their experience by the time any others are born alone. Plus then being technically human hybrids.
