To get to the Wall Dispersed Camping, follow the signs for Badlands Scenic Loop. You take a dirt road to get to the camping. It is rough, and you will need to avoid some of the deeper chug holes.
The Two Tired Teachers' first night in Wall, it looked like it was going to rain hard. With that in mind, we chose to stay in the Wall Drug parking lot rather than doing dispersed camping when we were sure what the road might be like by the time we got there.
To see the Badlands, you can camp at Badlands National Park. Tent sites are $23 for 2 people with a $4 fee for extra people who are older than 15. The tent sites are within walking distance of the pay showers and toilets.
RV sites with electric in the national park are $38 per night for 2 people with a $4 fee for each extra person who is older than 15. These have a picnic table, but they do not include water. The dump station costs $1 to use.
Finally, Sage Creek Campground in Badlands National Park is a free campground that is first ' come. RVs longer than 18' are prohibited. Pit toilets and picnic tables are available, but generators are prohibited due to the fire danger.
The Two Tired Teachers chose the dispersed camping outside the national park because we think the views are better. A lady camping in a TAG hesitated to park on the rim because she had heard of the strong winds. At times the winds were very strong.
A herd of big horn sheep was crossing the road as we were traveling it. When they cross, they have the right of way. We enjoyed watching them as they crossed.
Another thing you can expect to see is a beautiful array of colors at sunset. Watching the sun go down at the edge of the Badlands is a definite treat.
One of the coolest things we saw as we camped on the rim of the Badlands was a dense fog. The fog was so thick that we could not see the Badlands.
Dispersed camping at the Badlands was perfect for us.
