An update: I was NOT expecting some of the comments here and I'm a fool for not looking into this matter much more. I'm the minority and this video is just my opinion. I wasn't aware of how many people actually have a problem with this (I don't think that's bad btw). I understand a little more so sorry if the video makes me look like I'm downplaying anything or just an idiot.
I would like to have the same view as you of not caring too much about the characters, but as a woman playing the game (even though I am pansexual), the lack of male characters weighs heavily! The characters matter because they are the center of the game, even if the game is good, it is sorely missed. Furthermore, in my opinion (which is nothing), having huge fanservice for women, all the stories and cutscenes, and dialogues, is a bit overwhelming, the game is very good, combat and everything else, but when it comes to story , everything basically leads to fanservice, the visuals of the majority are very sexualized, in my view of a woman. I just want cool male characters, who are as strong as the female characters, who have cool dialogues, beautiful cutscenes, when I started I got the male rover because I liked the look but I regretted it after seeing how much female fanservice there is in the story, but when it's about a man, it's much less intimate and deep, in my head it makes me a little uncomfortable. Everything affects the game, especially the characters and I felt like stopping, even though I got my Jiyan today and I was super happy, I feel like everything revolves around that, and it's really sad, so I don't know if I'll really continue. But it's just my opinion.
@@Hioszsame like, i would not mind the fanservice had they not do the men dirty but when the men are a second class citizen in this world, i cannot help but feel resentment (i love shorekeeper and 1.3, but also mad because i know that level of care will never happen towards any men, i play pgr for years, i know whats going to happen to the men if we keep silent about it, i hope with wuwa listening to global we can put more input to them and they listen) i always excuse pgr because theyre small and niche and needing the money to survive but with wuwa money and fame i pray to god they dont go the same route
@@eyn801 Yes, I'm not going to invalidate anyone's opinion that is different from mine, since they already do this to me, but I feel like they could put more effort into the depth of the male characters, I think I accept that there are more women, because that's how things are, but it really upsets me that the few men there are in the game are left aside. It's like my friends always told me before joining this world of gacha: you have two paths, straight and lesbian, don't expect so much depth with male characters because the minority doesn't always make a difference, even if they listen to those who think like that, I don't believe it will change much. The story was what bothered me the most about the game, it's a fact for me, even though I like female characters I don't feel like I can enjoy the full experience with just them. I feel like now I would rather there be no romance than be like this, I've always valued freedom of involvement, but I think it's a bit much.
This is a huge issue for sure. I am a girl, but I am a female character enjoyer. But despite that, I've never been able to stick to stories or games that were either too female dominated or too male dominated. Because for one; if there's a lot of female characters in the game that are caterered only for the male audiences, it feels a little icky and uncomfortable as a woman myself. That means the majority of the audience/ fanbase would obviously lack fellow women, and I would personally feel more reluctant to join any of the communities. I really enjoy well written male characters, too, though, and they usually make a huge impact on me. I've noticed my character roster on Star rail and Genshin always have a 50:50 gender ratio when it comes to my favorites. I genuinely hope they will release more well-written/designed male characters eventually, too, even if it's the minority that want them. At the moment I genuinely think they need to step up their husbando game because even as a waifu collector, I can tell the game *really* needs to work on it if they're to catch up to competition. I also want my friends to finally start playing. (They're usually husbando collectors)
Tbh I want male characters to be as op as the female ones... I'm talking about animations, sig weapons and overall their utility and power in the gameplay... xiangli yao is too good to be free with how strong he is, especially if you get his sig... I expect no less for the upcoming males, but I want them BIG! I WANT MUSCLES IN MY FACE WHENEVER I LOOK AT THE SCREEN
I am (straight) female player, and yes I can admit I play gacha games mostly for husbandos. Ofc story, combat etc matters too. Wuwa combat is fun, story is kinda meh, it feels more like dating sim game nowdays tho. I have pulled many female characters in other gacha games (genshin, hsr) and the reason is, they are more likeable than compared to wuwa 5* adult ladies. Let me explain :D For me personally those overly done jello booba physics are just off-putting. period, I cant help it. Also wuwa female characters dont have much depth in their writing. They are just there to fawn over Rover. And to be fair, Jiyan and Xiangli Yao both are not that interesting either. Character writing and development is hugely missing in Wuwa. I will pull for female character in Wuwa if they dont overly sexualise her and give them some damn personality and agency outside Rover. I mean, every gacha character we met so far seem to love Rover, even villains lmao. Latest example is Shorekeeper and oh boy that story quest was so cringe. They tried so hard to make SK feel very special but we all know Rover is going to a date with Camellya next patch. Iirc Wuwa didnt advrtise itself as harem game but it really feels like it. Immersion. For me its immersion breaking if world has mostly/only one gender. Thats why I dont want to play one-gender gacha games. Somewhat equal ratio makes the world and story feel more believable. Even in fantasy setting you should have some realism there. I am now talking about leaks and next new male character is coming in 2.1. Probably second half again, so the wait is even longer. Wuwa is releasing hyped characters like Camellya very soon, also Phrolova is coming in early 2.x. Where the fuck are my hyped male characters, Scar or Geshu? I feel kinda baited tbh. Kuro marketed Jiyan, Scar, Geshu, Calcharo pretty heavily too, and I thought maybe Wuwa is going to be one of these better gacha games... but nope. It was all bait to get husbando enjoyers to play. Most sane male character enjoyers have already left. I am still playing because combat and overworld exploration is fun and I guess I am still coping it could get better in future. LOL
How do I tell you that I have actually seen people leave the game because of the lack of male characters. It's not a joke. I have thought many times about leaving the game and going to Honkai Star Rail. They know how to make all types of their players satisfied. There is justice between the number of female and male characters I do not hate the developers of wuthering waves or the game itself I love it and I love all its characters But the game needs criticism to develop, just like I gave my opinion and criticized to Genshin Impact in the past, and this helped Genshin Impact to develop I don't criticize them in a hurtful way or say bad words to them, I just try to make them the number one beloved game and I want them to be the best game The game evolves through its players.
I’m a female player. I like both female and male character. But having both at least semi-equally IS important. If a game ONLY has female characters it’s a clear signal that the game is not made for me. They only care for the straight male gamers.(Nothing inherently bad in that but I won’t be playing it.) WuWa is still ok, I can patiently wait for Geshu Lin and Scar. I like the game, the world the story. (TBH I’m more eager to get the PS5 version than a new male character.) But if it one day turns into yet another waifu collector… I’ll take my time and money somewhere else, support a game that values my tastes as well as others.
@@gameplayer-_-227 So you're telling me Shorekeeper was in the story in 1.0, 1.1 and 1.2? Not to mention how little we saw of Chamelliya yet, we still got her first. We saw him first yet he's nowhere in sight. So don't go around bringing story into this. No one is impatient, it's natural for people to expect them when they were shown so much earlier. 🙄
When you play you have to look at characters, and if you don't find those characters intresting it gets boring really soon, game play may be cool but it's not enough to keep some players play.
First of all, good editing buut i think you should talk to the female playerbase, listen to their side more.. before making such a video if u want to use that title. After that, present your counter and conclusions. Imagine if it’s the opposite. 7 females and 17 males, would you stay? Probably yes. Orr complain about it and take a hiatus from the game like what some female players are doing. Orrr wait for the ‘perfect’ game either it’s an all waifu, all husbando or.. a mixed of the golden ratio. The main issues here are the lack of male presence in the game and story itself (+playable characters), even from the start, ive seen people saying ‘why are there only girls?’ in the story. It’s a bit offputting.. are the males.. endangered? Aside from story, this is a gacha game, most of the time, characters are the ones catching the eye of the players (hence the “waifu > meta”). Combat is also great but you can’t deny characters are the ones driving in the attention (fanarts, buying merch, simping, whaling for your favourite characters). Take more example from unplayable characters and npcs gaining attention. So it’s NOT unusual or when someone stops playing the game because of the lack of what they want. And aside from combat.. the story atm isn’t THAT great of a reason to hold on to. So combat and looking at your favourites it is! Which.. well the husbando enjoyers don’t have much choices now do they?
I used to think this is a non-issue too, but then I remembered the reason why HI3 didn't stick with me is because "Adam" is the only playable male character in the game. I liked Arknights because there are playable male characters in there, like Steward, Adnachiel, Midnight, Courier, SilverAsh, Hellagur, etc. The availability of playable male character is definitely a factor in Gacha games. Some women likes to have their husbando playable and some men likes to feel, or want to be like a badass male character. You know, like the "Literally Me" meme.
Good quality video but you didn't think about his topic much and it shows. The amount of people who really only play one gender is REALLY small, that's clearly not the issue here. You also use a lot of downplaying language "bit annoyed" "seem like a problem" etc. it is a problem, and it is annoying. It doesn't only affect gameplay. It also affects the community. If I got a dollar for every post praising a waifu with 1000+ upvotes I could C6 Jiyan. It's frustrating how most of these companies let the demand for male characters die out, and then people say "oh well there's not enough demand for the supply" like yeah, I wonder why. Bowing down to the toxic part of the CN community also just makes the community worse, it can turn potential players off the game, which is Kuro's fault. I love my female characters. I have Jinshi, I have Zhezi, I have Shorekeeper (although my fondness of her was ruined by the bad writing of 1.3). I love them but I prefer male characters. So when I pull female characters it feels more like I'm settling for them, rather than feeling like I get what I want, which gets tiring. Kuro very much does this on purpose, since they're the one making the roster. You could change the gender of most characters and almost nothing would change in the story, so it's not like they have to rely on female characters. It's also hard to be patient or hopeful when so far, based on leaks, there's only 1 male character coming as far as 2.1 or 2.2.
I think you cant really blame them when there are delinquents threatening employees because of male characters lol Same extreme group that attacked hoyo btw China gov still passing a law to deal with this problem so it will take a while Also, even if it takes 2.1 to give you male characters, you know Kuro cooks great when they make male characters.
@@Gheniel_ I get what you mean, but at the same time they should be able to limit those people's access and take (leagal) action. At a certain point people get bored of frothing at the mouth and will leave and if htey don't, they have to shown that they aren't welcome but harboring a better community and changing up the character roster. They do indeed cook with male characters, but I really hope they won't take the PGR route and release like 2/year, only to be powercrept.
3:00 I think the gaming experience of a game can be effected because of the design of the characters you are playing, we see this is a lot of games especially moba games when a champs who is well made gameplay wise is absolutely hated because of his design (cough cough seraphin) , and let be honest female characters design in gatcha games is one of the most basic sh*t you can see , just a generic looking pretty anime character in a dress and it also becomes repetitive having a female character after a female character after a female character even I who don't care about the gender of the character as long as they are fun and good designed started getting bored of it especially when the designs of the female characters aside from sex appeal in this game aren't that good generally speaking but I know that's they have a specific target audiences
the gender ratio is a huge problem to be honest just like men love to play female characters the opposite also true, some men actually like to play cool looking male characters (mostly a more west/general gamer) you can go to discussion groups or reddits theres a huge discussion that explicitly mention this problem they all went back to genshin/hsr, yes they dont like the game as much (not all) but there playing felt more worthwile because you get to play with more male options, and sometimes that enough i also saw on genshin groups that the huge cast of female character in wuwa is actually what kept them to actually giving it a try, which is sad, the game is great but the ratio is what kept people to actually give it a try your game can be the greatest shit ever, but when its mostly/exclusively female characters youre bound to lock yourself in a small pond of fish, do they sell? absolutely, but that shit wont sustain in the long run, plenty game sells waifu and do you think those player can keep whaling on every single waifu there is? no, mommy here mommy there tsun here tsun there the oversaturation will kill it in the future and the bugger audience wont care to try a coomer game to be your new fish theres a reason why honkai impact, despite being mihoyos golden child, has greater combat than genshin/hsr, a lot of care from devs, doesnt get as big as their other games, its a fucking coomer game, theres only so much fish you can catch there, not even the most avid whale can continue rolling for every single thing therell be a stopping point its not just about it being husbando or waifu the game/story immersion, just because you are used to see more anime game with female casts doesnt mean its good, dont you think when you go to here and there the cast was almost always female is, you know, weird? it not like the apocalypse kills off men (iykyk) ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ you see how much love and deepspace sells? let me tell you that some doesnt even really like the game but stayed because theres no other option on the market, the game was heavily predatory as fck with multiple limited back to back with no reruns so far, but what can we do when theres no other options? we are so sick and tired when the female players was always catered only in dressup / otome games, no mainstream gacha game put the same efforts towards male characters then they are on the females, no one would like to be a second class player when you are always told to be patient and hope for the best, its a horrible feeling and i am not here to trash wuwa, the gender imbalance also heavily affects zzz, i saw a lot quit after no men for patches and when they reveal the new casts? oh boi plenty drops it also saw hsr/genshin female players quitting hsr for how much it caters towards men, yes some male character are nice anf meta but we are talking about the ratio here, getting an actual mattered/meta male is like a gacha, you won sometimes but the chances are..... eh, but with females you dont have to hope and pray because you get them on a regular basis, also saw a lot quit after natlan with how much natlan is heavily female oriented cast some moved to love and deepspace because its an otome that actually has gameplay, like actual combat, farming, tower and end game, is it great? it was so so but its something, not just a click click romance but lets be honest we are coping at this point im not hoyoshill or kurobot im shit talking both of them, i play both spend on both, they both has bad ratio, im sorry but with pgr i can see the heavy imbalance of care in male characters than they are of female (i loved lee but come on kuro 2 male every year is effin abyssmal only to be powercrept in the same year), i just hope that sht doesnt transfer into wuwa i swear to god, cant we get one man for every 2 female patch? its a win win for both because we got to spend while the waifu enjoyer got to rest their savings/spending, both side wins if you gonna bring the argument of men doesnt sell is actually a self fullfiling prophecy, when you release one men every 3-4 months and expects them to sell like hotcakes youre dead wrong, the player that wants them that didnt quit doesnt need to spend because theyre given months and months to save up ingame currency, also can we be honest with ourself that the men was not heavily invested/marketed as much as their female character? they just make men like some kind of token and expect it to sell out? even if good men exist theyre like a dime in a dozen like come on - linyang has shit modifier - calcharo was crippled before he can even run and got powercrept only in 2 patch - jiyan man, i wish they update his animation especially his dragon because compared to jinhsi's that looks like it painted on, just because you wont notice it doesnt mean they can cheap out on him like that when hes the same limited as jinhsi before you come and bash me in replies to just quit the game or i dont get to complain as f2p, first of all, good luck gatekeeping your game, keep doing that and your game will have a decreasing playerbase, if wuwa were released as a female only cast / mostly female cast it wont get as big as it is now, itll be another snowbreak or something, theres a reason why hoyo and kuro puts male character as bait on launch, to catch a bigger general audience, but when you alienate them, well, ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ and i actually spend for c6r5 zhongli and childe on first release when the banner is a scam with no pity, i went though that sht because i liked them, but with how inazuma goes i quit, i returned for haitham, its still as bad as before quit again, returned in natlan after dawei cried crocodile tears only yo get dissapointed again i just got rid of my account good riddance, hsr is not much different with how saturated it is with limited character back to back on every patch that kept trying to powercrept eachother and that sht ass penacony, heavy imabalance of important/meta male vs female ratio, and here in wuwa i maxed c6r5 xiangli yao and jiyan, but im scared seeing the trajectory so far, i play pgr since the start of global, is it fun? heck yeah, but the care they put into men vs female cast is abyssmal, until today we dont have male gacha costume but female characters got so many beautiful and intricate costumes like every other day, it feels really horrible to be treated as an extra/afterthought, yes the men is great but when you compare it to their treatment towards their female it brings resentment, the game can be lit af but the resentmet will always make people quit, coming back to wuwa, after jiyan we got yinlin, changli, jinhsi, zezhi and then a free male xiangli yao, thats 1 - 4 already, after yao we got shorekeeper thats has everybudget kurogames to offer, the map, the lore, the marketing, everything, 4* youhu, and the upcoming camellya with another 4* lumi, thats another 1 -4 and i actually (sorry for mentioning leaks, i know its not fixed but hear me out) saw the leaks of rinascita 2.0 is another W female character with 1 male on 2.1 do you know what that means? its effin 1 - 6 that means if the leaks were true the ratio actually got worse, and id be damned if the *4 that came with the male is another female, i love kuro and their game, i want to love and support them but being put on the backburner like this is.... sad, i cannot go through being treated like that in wuwa after what i went through in pgr, the lore is really nice the game is very good like REAL good, actually love the futuristic/apocalyptic concept but dont know if i can keep supporting with all these lingering dissapointment if you read all this and say then dont play, the game is not catered/for you, go ahead and gatekeep it, do alienate general audience, yeah the usual predominatly male audience will stay but remember there will always a burnout, the casual/general player will see wuwa and side eye it calling it coomer gacha, they wont bother to try like, do you not want a wider audience to potentially spend on your game? do you want people to see wuwa and say, yeah its that coomer game instead of what the game has to offer (outside the waifupoints)? thees a reason why wuwa got that big in the first place, it was marketed as the more serious, more mature balanced game for gamers, imagine if they release wuwa as all female/almost all female character, it'll be another snowbreak, another honkai, another chinese coomer game, does it rakes in money? absolutely, but the oversaturation and burnout of female character wont sustain it in the long run, i am not asking big for 1:1 but can we not at least do 1:2? male enjoyers get to spend and waifu enjoyers get to rest i actually applaud guilongchao when they claim to try do 1:1 despite the heavy cn backlash, im waiting for that to global because the game looks nice and theres a lot of big titles coming out in the future if you keep the "then dont play it" or "doesnt matter/bother me" mentality goodluck keeping the playerbase when those came out kuro can keep releasing oversexualised female all you want but give something for us men enjoyer too, doesnt have to be oversexualised just make them cool and put out as much as they do their females and im all yours please,...
i was recommended to try wuwa by my brother when i was about to download genshin around a week ago so i ask whats the boys options..... game looks really pretty but i want to play a team of husbandos :(
@@destaliadaniellarahman9469 The male characters that are in the game are actaully pretty good. Jiyan's story quest is one of hte best characters quests, their gameplay is good too, they're just less common :/
Reason why I'm still f2p in wuwa while I regularly pay welkin+bp in GI, and just recently LaDS too (but the combat here is still horrible for me, and not pc port or controller support >:O). GI already has an established roster of males that I wait for reruns, but wuwa, I can gather pulls for an S1R1 male character before every release without paying a dime since they're so few and far between.
Too true. I have more than enough currency saved up in wuwa to guarantee the next male character and his signature weapon. It's only patch 1.3 and 1.4 doesn't have any new characters I want. How much currency do you think I'll have by the time a new male character shows up? Besides, the gender imbalance shatters immersion. I cannot suspend my disbelief and take the game's story and lore seriously if they keep shoving asses, sentient boobs, and bare legs in the cutscenes every few minutes.
I’m nearing endgame rn and have had Calculator as my main the whole time, he’s not unplayable, just harder. I agree that there are only five, though, I don’t really count the furry femboy as a ‘man’
the difference is that love and deepspaces is catering directly to a female audience. kuro is supposed catering to all. intentional or not, it's clear that kuro thinks of female characters as the money makers.. bc that's just how the gacha industry is. i mean we're getting weapon skins before new male characters 💀
@@AIA222-yu5ml Yeah I play PGR too and its awful after early game (when it feels like there is many male characters to collect but once you have them, it became a waiting game lol). They copied many thing from GI but the gender ratio was apparently off-limits. lol. This makes me especially sad because I followed wuwa like 9 months before release, I was hyped... and then quicky realise this is going to be pgr but open world. I am sure people are complaining about this issue in surveys (especially global players) and I wish they would actually listen...
I'm fine with this, it gives me time to save for man and their 5 * weapons, max them and their echoes 🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤😊😊😊 ... ps, I passed the new fight game with just level 80 characters, 😆 , such good times
PGR have a lot of male char but never sell very well for them . I think the real reason why is most male character are always powerful , there is almost no need to get a new one after that . If you think it like in real life, it is like getting a performance Bike. If you already get 1000cc R1, you will not bother to get a 1000cc Ducati or other brand since the difference is not significant . So many player never truly bother or in rush to get them . But Female char is another story . They are like Diamond , it is never enough .
try putting the men lineup in one row amd the female in another the male roster looks (design) is almost 11:12 when the female is design was over the top does the men bad? no, but the effort on men design vs female design you can tell which one they care also the costumes, men barely got the exclusive premium costume we are scrapping the barrels here also side note solon actually mentions (forgot where, its been years) lee's merchandise sale is comparable to female gacha banner sale, on paper gacha sales male looks underwhelming but female players would always go batshit crazy with the irl merchs and if they happen to be pair (example: like zhongli with childe, sorry for the genshin mention), even if they like for example only like zhongli they for sure would buy childe as well to "appease" him with female character you can sell waifu point or oversexualise, with male i'll let you in the secret, either go for psychos/villain or tragedy, put angst on them and the female players would go batshit trying to comfort them / paying tribute
PGR follows the same principles. It took like a year before a new male unit. It might be due to them not selling well or just Kuro's decision, either way let us waifu enjoyers rest Kuro! Every patch is a pull patch, and its hard to save up 😢
Bubbles is just a wosre Lingyang(dps wise) that heals. BUT shes a fun one to play :D (also i pulled Yuhoo(...Youhu...?Yuhu... ? Yipee! yup thats it) and ended up with S1 Jiyan) i will state tho im neither a Male or Female enjoyer... im a Femboi AND Tomboi enjoyer! why?? BECAUSE WHY HAVE THEM EACH SEPARATEDLY WHEN WE CAN HAVE THE BEST OF BOTH WORLDS MERGED IN AN EVEN BETTER LOOKING PACKAGE!!! and in case of lolis n shotas im a big fan of cute lil wuddles of yoy that are just as deadly :3 thats why i dont really pull on any male or female characters, u jus see that sheet everywhere anywhere anytime allthetime. with the rare exception of it having a playstyle that ticles my fancy like, Altos pewpew thru mist that pews even more, Bubbles' gacha in a gacha playstyle, Taoqis' n Jianxin hit me, c'mon HIT ME! styles, Zizis' paint and whoosh(whom i regret i didnt pull because im dumb and dont pay atention didnt know Xiangli wus gunna b free TxT) cause in the end DPS are all the same with just different lightshows and suport dependency
I think it's not true anymore. Female players are riseing (you already pointed out Love and Deepspace!). So I think Kuro need to change there thinking and release more cool male characters! (Not models like Lingyang!) Models like Calcharo and Jiyan!!! Ok I accepted Zhangli Yao, he is ok, but I would like to see more tall male characters! That's the female players perspective and we are riseing! :)
for me it will take time before male characters are ready up for their stories to be finished before they release the male charas. also this game needs shota characters tho, so wuthering waves can compete with against genshin.
nah, hearing moans 24/7 and having to play on low volume constantly, as well as diversity. I dont want to be seeing alot of something thats similar, hence why ill never play goon bait, only female cast and furries. But if there is a mix of all of this except goon bait im all for it
Beautyful female characters are easy to sell. As long as the characters are powerful and the game is fun, i don't mind. I chose the male rover, and he is surrounded by beautiful women 😅.
It is very rare for games in certain genres to have a fair balance and get a strong male and female audience at the same time, i am fairly sure Love and Deepspace has alot of males characters, but we both know what audience the game has xD, maybe your new to games but essentially any company that tries to cater to everyone and everything tends to fail, as a guy i see nice girl character Brain: i want, i see cool male character? Brain: is the kit broken op? does he bring any value? oh not enough k we holding , it is what it is...
The bigger problem is that games aren't actually "trying" to sell male characters, so of course they will fail. You can look across several mixed gender gacha. -The amount of meta defining male chars ? usually very few. Male characters are very often made as DPSes and said DPSes are usually just "aite". If there is powercreep, the male chars are the first to go down because mid/underperforming DPSes are the ones to go down first. At least WuWa's main male DPSes are good...but they're all unsurprisingly main DPSes so far. -Marketing ? Less advertisement, less skins for games that do skin. Less importance in the story. They rarely ever try to give them the same amount of attention design-wise. Just give them a sob story and hope it carries everything else. -Banner placement : always right before most hype units. (Jiyan had to compete with Yinlin and Jinhsi, the two most anticipated characters, and Yao was given for free, but placed right before Shorekeeper and Camellya). They are saving patches because they actually are placed exactly when players would want to save. Tie that with first point. Who would want to get the umpteenth male mid DPS with next to no longevity, when the next waifu is made broken/more fun to play etc ? You can make a guess. - Main story relevance : depends a bit more on the game, but in WuWa you clearly feel they are an afterthought. Jiyan and Aalto aside, ALL other male characters could literally disappear from the game now and absolutely nothing would change in the story. (Please don't say Mortefi, Yuanwu and Lingyang. You could literally replace them by a NPC and give them the like 4 lines of dialogue they had) And the list goes on, and on. Catering would imply they make content tailored around the demographic they want to reach, but a vast majority of the time, what they do is randomly throw out a male character, somehow hoping they'll bring money while making sure they are as replaceable and unimportant to the game as possible, and then people look surprised when the male character performs horribly. I hate to bring Genshin up in WuWa stuff because it always create shitstorms. But despite the numerous, very numerous flaws WuWa thankfully didn't bring from Genshin, the one thing they could take from Genshin is that men *actually* sell. Neuvilette literally sold like pancakes because he was central to the main story, and is absolutely busted as all fuck. Zhongli and several other examples exist in Genshin, but yes, selling a male character is as simple as that.
This is a great representation of the IRL dating scene: The number of perceived "dateable" men is far FAR lower than the number of perceived, dateable women. Why? Men who are seen as dateable are those that can (essentially) carry the world: attractive, confident, rich, high status, tall, just the right of amount of aggressive w/o being creepy, not needy, master of body language, wears nice shoes, has nice teeth.... etc. Women who are seen as dateable? They look good and don't treat you like trash.
The only massive problem are these male enjoyers dont seems to shut up about it. I'm a male enjoyer and I have absolutely no problem with the rate we are right now, if anything it makes it more impactful when we actually get a new male character. Sorry we are not the same 😂
The lack of male characters isn't really a problem for me, and like you said, if I like a character, I would main them regardless of gender(I simply don't care about a characte's gender). But, the only thing I have to say for male enjoyers is to be patient, stay strong, cuz I'm CERTAIN that Kuro Games will cook a cool male character in the future, the reason why almost every game have a lot of female characters is because the majority of the fanbase/players are men and hence focusing on making as many female characters as possible (in worst case scenarios, sexualizing them, but nobody really points that out cuz well, they're too busy simping for those characters). BUT, quitting WUWA just because there aren't many male characters is a bit crazy, imo, just saying tho.
It isn't THAT crazy tbh. Kuro advertised they'll give both male and female characters with Jiyan and Yinlin, yet they aren't delivering to the side of the playerbase who is here for the male characters. Just like how many male players prefer to mostly pull female characters, female audience also wants to pull male characters. You cannot expect people who love male characters to play Nikke and you can't expect people who love female characters to play Love and Deep space. And Wuwa is currently looking like a waifu only game with only 2 limited male characters per patch to drag along the male character pullers. This side of the playerbase would rather go to HSR or Genshin where they keep true to their advertising and deliver both female AND male characters.
@@AIA222-yu5ml You're right, I have nothing to argue about with your points. But I do think comparing WUWA with LaDS is not a good idea though, because LaDS mainly focuses on female audiences (or male character enjoyers in general) and it's more a dating/flirting game, IIRC. And WUWA is not even 1 year old game, so maybe Kuro Games is prioritizing female characters to survive first, since, well, female characters sell more well than male characters (but this makes them lose their existing players), and I'm not completely sure though, it could also be that they straight up just forgot about male characters. PLUS I only said it's not that of a problem for me, I never said I don't want more male characters. But according to leaks, there is a new male character coming in the next nation update, so I'm looking forward to him, hopefully Kuro Games will cook with his design and animations.
Isn't that what every Gacha game is about? Let's take for example Genshin, HSR and ZZZ, when you start playing a Gacha game, that's what you get And from the Story perspective, it's too soon to have OP Male Characters
It's a gacha game. Female characters will always sell better. Imo wuwa is doing quite well compared to other gacha games, who almost have none male characters. Also knowing that Scar and Geshu Lin will be playable one day, gives me enough satisfaction for now. There'll always be more female characters than males and that's fine to me! As long they make the males with as much passion as they do with females I'm satisfied. I'm very happy with Jiyan and Xiangli Yao so far and it also gives me the advantage to save more astrites for the next husbando and to get more copies ❤ TLDR: No hate from my side :3
I can NEVER understand why people cry about the female-male ratio in Wuwa. I mean, i guess it, you want to play as a male character for how cool they are (i'm a Male Rover main), but there are 3 slots in a team with 7 male characters already. You are allowed to play as a full team of dudes already. Isn't that what you want? or there is a different point here? The female character population is high because all of them connect to the story and have a somewhat reference to the popular character of the older game - Punshing: Gray Raven. Not to mention, the target audience of Kuro has always been focused and narrow in a specific group: the people who immerse with the lore, the people who love the challenging fight, and most importantly, the WEEB. You male character enthusiast might have time to vocalize about what you want, but what does the weeb seek in an anime gacha game? the cute female characters.
Among the "seven male characters", 2 are limited while 6 female characters are limited. No wonder Wuwa isn't as popular compared to HSR or even FGO. Might as well remove all male characters and turn it into Snowbreak 2.
What does limited even have anything to do with the ratio? You talk as if u feel devalued cause it's harder to choose and pick the female characters than the male characters
Funny how you mention HSR and FGO though, because both games : 1. have a massive company behind their names; 2. build on a well-known IP that is Fate series and Honkai series. How on the god's green ball named Earth can Wuwa out popalur those two?
@@whatabother2001 People hype for that button, mainly because it means they can skip uninteresting dialogue and crap on Genshin for being a 4 years old game yet lack the basic features of all other Gacha. There are alot of Lore-digging channel dedicated to Wuwa appear lately.
@Hiosz valid and fair
I might make a follow up video on this now that I see how you guys truly feel
@@KaloCu Thank you for being understandable too, your video was great, I'll wait for the next videos~
@@Hioszsame like, i would not mind the fanservice had they not do the men dirty
but when the men are a second class citizen in this world, i cannot help but feel resentment (i love shorekeeper and 1.3, but also mad because i know that level of care will never happen towards any men, i play pgr for years, i know whats going to happen to the men if we keep silent about it, i hope with wuwa listening to global we can put more input to them and they listen)
i always excuse pgr because theyre small and niche and needing the money to survive
but with wuwa money and fame i pray to god they dont go the same route
I also want to smush my face in boobies (but male's) is that too much to ask?
They need to buff Sephiroth.
YES
They buffed him by powercreeping him with Xiangli Yao 😂 I'm pretty sad, because I wanted him...
Its just unfair at this rate, I WANNA SEE MEN
Fun fact, every woman shows their legs, even children, but none of the men do
I wanna see men, but I don't wanna see Scar or Geshu Lin. I wanna see a big chested old man with facial hair. I wanna see Wriothesley or Pierro bro
I’m a female player. I like both female and male character. But having both at least semi-equally IS important.
If a game ONLY has female characters it’s a clear signal that the game is not made for me. They only care for the straight male gamers.(Nothing inherently bad in that but I won’t be playing it.)
WuWa is still ok, I can patiently wait for Geshu Lin and Scar. I like the game, the world the story. (TBH I’m more eager to get the PS5 version than a new male character.)
But if it one day turns into yet another waifu collector… I’ll take my time and money somewhere else, support a game that values my tastes as well as others.
Give us Scar and Geshu Lin already!
I want them to cook more rather than release just a decent a character.
@su3t right, like they not even in the story proper yet ya'll impatient asf 🙄
@@gameplayer-_-227 So you're telling me Shorekeeper was in the story in 1.0, 1.1 and 1.2? Not to mention how little we saw of Chamelliya yet, we still got her first. We saw him first yet he's nowhere in sight. So don't go around bringing story into this. No one is impatient, it's natural for people to expect them when they were shown so much earlier. 🙄
@AIA222-yu5ml okay fine, sorry just the constant badgering gets annoying just wanna let them cook...but whatever😑
When you play you have to look at characters, and if you don't find those characters intresting it gets boring really soon, game play may be cool but it's not enough to keep some players play.
Fair
Well put!
This game needs more 4 stars . good support
I assure you that downplaying was not the intent there but I see your point
I think you cant really blame them when there are delinquents threatening employees because of male characters lol
Same extreme group that attacked hoyo btw
China gov still passing a law to deal with this problem so it will take a while
Also, even if it takes 2.1 to give you male characters, you know Kuro cooks great when they make male characters.
The fact that you think 1.3 story is bad makes everything your say invalidated and your opinion holds no value for me 🤷♂️
@@KaloCu Yeah, don't worry about it.
3:00 I think the gaming experience of a game can be effected because of the design of the characters you are playing, we see this is a lot of games especially moba games when a champs who is well made gameplay wise is absolutely hated because of his design (cough cough seraphin) , and let be honest female characters design in gatcha games is one of the most basic sh*t you can see , just a generic looking pretty anime character in a dress and it also becomes repetitive having a female character after a female character after a female character even I who don't care about the gender of the character as long as they are fun and good designed started getting bored of it especially when the designs of the female characters aside from sex appeal in this game aren't that good generally speaking but I know that's they have a specific target audiences
the gender ratio is a huge problem to be honest
just like men love to play female characters the opposite also true, some men actually like to play cool looking male characters (mostly a more west/general gamer)
you can go to discussion groups or reddits
theres a huge discussion that explicitly mention this problem
they all went back to genshin/hsr, yes they dont like the game as much (not all) but there playing felt more worthwile because you get to play with more male options, and sometimes that enough
i also saw on genshin groups that the huge cast of female character in wuwa is actually what kept them to actually giving it a try, which is sad, the game is great but the ratio is what kept people to actually give it a try
your game can be the greatest shit ever, but when its mostly/exclusively female characters youre bound to lock yourself in a small pond of fish, do they sell? absolutely, but that shit wont sustain in the long run, plenty game sells waifu and do you think those player can keep whaling on every single waifu there is? no, mommy here mommy there tsun here tsun there the oversaturation will kill it in the future and the bugger audience wont care to try a coomer game to be your new fish
theres a reason why honkai impact, despite being mihoyos golden child, has greater combat than genshin/hsr, a lot of care from devs, doesnt get as big as their other games, its a fucking coomer game, theres only so much fish you can catch there, not even the most avid whale can continue rolling for every single thing therell be a stopping point
its not just about it being husbando or waifu
the game/story immersion, just because you are used to see more anime game with female casts doesnt mean its good, dont you think when you go to here and there the cast was almost always female is, you know, weird? it not like the apocalypse kills off men (iykyk) ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
you see how much love and deepspace sells? let me tell you that some doesnt even really like the game but stayed because theres no other option on the market, the game was heavily predatory as fck with multiple limited back to back with no reruns so far, but what can we do when theres no other options?
we are so sick and tired when the female players was always catered only in dressup / otome games, no mainstream gacha game put the same efforts towards male characters then they are on the females, no one would like to be a second class player when you are always told to be patient and hope for the best, its a horrible feeling
and i am not here to trash wuwa, the gender imbalance also heavily affects zzz, i saw a lot quit after no men for patches and when they reveal the new casts? oh boi plenty drops it
also saw hsr/genshin female players quitting hsr for how much it caters towards men, yes some male character are nice anf meta but we are talking about the ratio here, getting an actual mattered/meta male is like a gacha, you won sometimes but the chances are..... eh, but with females you dont have to hope and pray because you get them on a regular basis, also saw a lot quit after natlan with how much natlan is heavily female oriented cast
some moved to love and deepspace because its an otome that actually has gameplay, like actual combat, farming, tower and end game, is it great? it was so so but its something, not just a click click romance but lets be honest we are coping at this point
im not hoyoshill or kurobot im shit talking both of them, i play both spend on both, they both has bad ratio, im sorry but with pgr i can see the heavy imbalance of care in male characters than they are of female (i loved lee but come on kuro 2 male every year is effin abyssmal only to be powercrept in the same year), i just hope that sht doesnt transfer into wuwa i swear to god, cant we get one man for every 2 female patch? its a win win for both because we got to spend while the waifu enjoyer got to rest their savings/spending, both side wins
if you gonna bring the argument of men doesnt sell is actually a self fullfiling prophecy, when you release one men every 3-4 months and expects them to sell like hotcakes youre dead wrong, the player that wants them that didnt quit doesnt need to spend because theyre given months and months to save up ingame currency, also can we be honest with ourself that the men was not heavily invested/marketed as much as their female character? they just make men like some kind of token and expect it to sell out? even if good men exist theyre like a dime in a dozen like come on
- linyang has shit modifier
- calcharo was crippled before he can even run and got powercrept only in 2 patch
- jiyan man, i wish they update his animation especially his dragon because compared to jinhsi's that looks like it painted on, just because you wont notice it doesnt mean they can cheap out on him like that when hes the same limited as jinhsi
before you come and bash me in replies to just quit the game or i dont get to complain as f2p, first of all, good luck gatekeeping your game, keep doing that and your game will have a decreasing playerbase, if wuwa were released as a female only cast / mostly female cast it wont get as big as it is now, itll be another snowbreak or something, theres a reason why hoyo and kuro puts male character as bait on launch, to catch a bigger general audience, but when you alienate them, well, ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
and i actually spend for c6r5 zhongli and childe on first release when the banner is a scam with no pity, i went though that sht because i liked them, but with how inazuma goes i quit, i returned for haitham, its still as bad as before quit again, returned in natlan after dawei cried crocodile tears only yo get dissapointed again i just got rid of my account good riddance, hsr is not much different with how saturated it is with limited character back to back on every patch that kept trying to powercrept eachother and that sht ass penacony, heavy imabalance of important/meta male vs female ratio, and here in wuwa i maxed c6r5 xiangli yao and jiyan, but im scared seeing the trajectory so far, i play pgr since the start of global, is it fun? heck yeah, but the care they put into men vs female cast is abyssmal, until today we dont have male gacha costume but female characters got so many beautiful and intricate costumes like every other day, it feels really horrible to be treated as an extra/afterthought, yes the men is great but when you compare it to their treatment towards their female it brings resentment, the game can be lit af but the resentmet will always make people quit, coming back to wuwa, after jiyan we got yinlin, changli, jinhsi, zezhi and then a free male xiangli yao, thats 1 - 4 already, after yao we got shorekeeper thats has everybudget kurogames to offer, the map, the lore, the marketing, everything, 4* youhu, and the upcoming camellya with another 4* lumi, thats another 1 -4 and i actually (sorry for mentioning leaks, i know its not fixed but hear me out) saw the leaks of rinascita 2.0 is another W female character with 1 male on 2.1 do you know what that means? its effin 1 - 6 that means if the leaks were true the ratio actually got worse, and id be damned if the *4 that came with the male is another female, i love kuro and their game, i want to love and support them but being put on the backburner like this is.... sad, i cannot go through being treated like that in wuwa after what i went through in pgr, the lore is really nice the game is very good like REAL good, actually love the futuristic/apocalyptic concept but dont know if i can keep supporting with all these lingering dissapointment
if you read all this and say then dont play, the game is not catered/for you, go ahead and gatekeep it, do alienate general audience, yeah the usual predominatly male audience will stay but remember there will always a burnout, the casual/general player will see wuwa and side eye it calling it coomer gacha, they wont bother to try like, do you not want a wider audience to potentially spend on your game? do you want people to see wuwa and say, yeah its that coomer game instead of what the game has to offer (outside the waifupoints)? thees a reason why wuwa got that big in the first place, it was marketed as the more serious, more mature balanced game for gamers, imagine if they release wuwa as all female/almost all female character, it'll be another snowbreak, another honkai, another chinese coomer game, does it rakes in money? absolutely, but the oversaturation and burnout of female character wont sustain it in the long run, i am not asking big for 1:1 but can we not at least do 1:2? male enjoyers get to spend and waifu enjoyers get to rest
i actually applaud guilongchao when they claim to try do 1:1 despite the heavy cn backlash, im waiting for that to global because the game looks nice
and theres a lot of big titles coming out in the future if you keep the "then dont play it" or "doesnt matter/bother me" mentality goodluck keeping the playerbase when those came out
kuro can keep releasing oversexualised female all you want but give something for us men enjoyer too, doesnt have to be oversexualised just make them cool and put out as much as they do their females and im all yours please,...
i was recommended to try wuwa by my brother when i was about to download genshin around a week ago
so i ask whats the boys options..... game looks really pretty but i want to play a team of husbandos :(
@@destaliadaniellarahman9469 The male characters that are in the game are actaully pretty good. Jiyan's story quest is one of hte best characters quests, their gameplay is good too, they're just less common :/
So many facts here that people always overlook.
Give us genshu lin and the community will be happy for 1 year
I honestly think the outcry would be worse, because then the sentiment would be to give us more males. Mid XY banner they were asking for more lol
its 5 males characters, they made my boy calcharo unplayable
I’m nearing endgame rn and have had Calculator as my main the whole time, he’s not unplayable, just harder. I agree that there are only five, though, I don’t really count the furry femboy as a ‘man’
poor calcium, I feel bad for him
As a male enjoyer the only gacha games ever that didn’t disappoint were Dislyte and AFK Journey but at least being F2P is hella easy
the difference is that love and deepspaces is catering directly to a female audience. kuro is supposed catering to all. intentional or not, it's clear that kuro thinks of female characters as the money makers.. bc that's just how the gacha industry is. i mean we're getting weapon skins before new male characters 💀
Kuro again with their "1 limited male character per year" agenda from PGR 💀
For me, male characters are like diamonds, they're never enough.
@@AIA222-yu5ml you do you
try putting the men lineup in one row amd the female in another
the male roster looks (design) is almost 11:12 when the female is design was over the top
does the men bad? no, but the effort on men design vs female design you can tell which one they care
also the costumes, men barely got the exclusive premium costume we are scrapping the barrels here
also side note solon actually mentions (forgot where, its been years) lee's merchandise sale is comparable to female gacha banner sale,
on paper gacha sales male looks underwhelming
but female players would always go batshit crazy with the irl merchs
and if they happen to be pair (example: like zhongli with childe, sorry for the genshin mention), even if they like for example only like zhongli they for sure would buy childe as well to "appease" him
with female character you can sell waifu point or oversexualise, with male i'll let you in the secret, either go for psychos/villain or tragedy, put angst on them and the female players would go batshit trying to comfort them / paying tribute
I'm with you I want more males
not a problem for me, im already maining a male character
PGR follows the same principles. It took like a year before a new male unit. It might be due to them not selling well or just Kuro's decision, either way let us waifu enjoyers rest Kuro! Every patch is a pull patch, and its hard to save up 😢
Well Kuro did say there will be no 5* guy characters till 2.0 so I am waiting. Nothing wrong with that
Bubbles is just a wosre Lingyang(dps wise) that heals. BUT shes a fun one to play :D (also i pulled Yuhoo(...Youhu...?Yuhu... ? Yipee! yup thats it) and ended up with S1 Jiyan) i will state tho im neither a Male or Female enjoyer... im a Femboi AND Tomboi enjoyer! why?? BECAUSE WHY HAVE THEM EACH SEPARATEDLY WHEN WE CAN HAVE THE BEST OF BOTH WORLDS MERGED IN AN EVEN BETTER LOOKING PACKAGE!!! and in case of lolis n shotas im a big fan of cute lil wuddles of yoy that are just as deadly :3
thats why i dont really pull on any male or female characters, u jus see that sheet everywhere anywhere anytime allthetime. with the rare exception of it having a playstyle that ticles my fancy like, Altos pewpew thru mist that pews even more, Bubbles' gacha in a gacha playstyle, Taoqis' n Jianxin hit me, c'mon HIT ME! styles, Zizis' paint and whoosh(whom i regret i didnt pull because im dumb and dont pay atention didnt know Xiangli wus gunna b free TxT) cause in the end DPS are all the same with just different lightshows and suport dependency
I totally get you T_T
I just want geshu lin💀
2.1 there will be male characters, my dream told me.
Kuro games, gamers, everyone, believe me, if they add Scar, sales would skyrocket.
I need more male charssss
A wise once said: if you have a calcharo you...i dont know what he said but come on he is handsome
I’VE BEEN SUMMONED!!!! >:D
We just need a dmc collab
I think it's not true anymore. Female players are riseing (you already pointed out Love and Deepspace!). So I think Kuro need to change there thinking and release more cool male characters! (Not models like Lingyang!) Models like Calcharo and Jiyan!!!
Ok I accepted Zhangli Yao, he is ok, but I would like to see more tall male characters! That's the female players perspective and we are riseing! :)
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
for me it will take time before male characters are ready up for their stories to be finished before they release the male charas.
also this game needs shota characters tho, so wuthering waves can compete with against genshin.
fk shotas
This is a prpblem i want more man
7:24 hmmmmmm such a weird moment could you be 🙃
I knew that'd be risky to say 😭
@@KaloCu yeah I bet everyone pretended they didn't hear lol 🤣
If only they made Lumi a trap
Lingyang is a man?
nah, hearing moans 24/7 and having to play on low volume constantly, as well as diversity.
You could literally replace them by a NPC and give them the like 4 lines of dialogue they had)
And the list goes on, and on.
@@Zephyrion22 EXACTLY!!
This is a great representation of the IRL dating scene:
The number of perceived "dateable" men is far FAR lower than the number of perceived, dateable women.
??? Did bro get rejected or smth?
You're got to get over it man, she's moved on already.
The only massive problem are these male enjoyers dont seems to shut up about it.
I'm a male enjoyer and I have absolutely no problem with the rate we are right now, if anything it makes it more impactful when we actually get a new male character.
Sorry we are not the same 😂
Agreed
Fellow male enjoyer and I agree with you.
agreed, i'm happy with MRover and Xiangli Yao
Then u r in minority ofc 😂
The problem is, they don't shut up at the WRONG place. Please yap in the devs' email and surveys, the social media outrage isn't visible to them 😭
The lack of male characters isn't really a problem for me, and like you said, if I like a character, I would main them regardless of gender(I simply don't care about a characte's gender).
This side of the playerbase would rather go to HSR or Genshin where they keep true to their advertising and deliver both female AND male characters.
okay but if the game was lacking female characters, would u then understand why people might quit?
@@sonjab.6852 Hell nah, I don't mind if there aren't many female characters as well, cuz I ain't quitting either way, but I get the point.
@@Tea_1810 "female characters sell more" say that to Blade and DHIL. they both outsold Kafka for example.
Isn't that what every Gacha game is about? Let's take for example Genshin, HSR and ZZZ, when you start playing a Gacha game, that's what you get
And from the Story perspective, it's too soon to have OP Male Characters
It's a gacha game. Female characters will always sell better.
Imo wuwa is doing quite well compared to other gacha games, who almost have none male characters. Also knowing that Scar and Geshu Lin will be playable one day, gives me enough satisfaction for now.
There'll always be more female characters than males and that's fine to me! As long they make the males with as much passion as they do with females I'm satisfied.
I'm very happy with Jiyan and Xiangli Yao so far and it also gives me the advantage to save more astrites for the next husbando and to get more copies ❤
TLDR: No hate from my side :3
As a waifu collector, I'm not fan of males in my gacha game, but they have benefits like being a filler
Welcome to the male audience catering Wuthering Waves is doing
I think it's not a massive problem but more a suggestion
Male Enjoyers
People immersed in the lore? In this game, where everyone has been hyping the skip button??
@@whatabother2001 People hype for that button, mainly because it means they can skip uninteresting dialogue and crap on Genshin for being a 4 years old game yet lack the basic features of all other Gacha.
There are alot of Lore-digging channel dedicated to Wuwa appear lately.
