@@darkvoidb9717 if it sells it sells, ofc they will take the direction that assures them a cashflow able to fund future development or do you want the game to get abandoned by CN and have wuwa reach EOS? because just so you know CN carries in revenue in almost every gacha, or will you pick up the slack and pump in cash? a few thousand a month.
@simplyruben3184 problem is they're not listening to CN as a whole but a vocal minority of bottom feeders. The same type of people who will play any of kind slop as long as there's tits you can't listen to players like this and expect healthy growth of your game and that's very evident by how quickly the game fell in revenue.
@@darkvoidb9717 i honestly don't mind it, no gacha game developer nowadays listens nowadays other than maybe Nexon or probably YoStar? Kuro Games is one of the rare game devs that actually like to listen and improve upon the game every update, WuWa's optimization has gotten so much better now and PGR is just getting Peak after Peak updates, they fixed Ishmael's model in PGR too, due to popular demand from both Global and CN community, they announced the DMC 5 Collab too since most of the players make memes with it and have been asking for the Collab ever since people saw Alpha Crimson Abyss.

This is exactly what I can’t deal with in WuWa. The CBT looked promising, where Rover lost against the first boss. It was more post-apocalyptic. I don’t enjoy how the world gets more beautiful every time you do another world quest, it kills the atmosphere.
the rest of the CBT story is actually really garbage even when meeting up Calcharo, like the trope "MC is hated but still saves the day and everybody is wrong" is so heavily used. Hence why many cbt players actually criticizes it. Sad that they also changed the introduction story, but i would be lying if i said the rest of the 1.0 arc is worse than cbt. i'm still glad on what we got.

@@a4arick106 The rest of the story is up to debate, but I really liked the prologue. We LOST. YangYang got hurt (Perhaps she shouldn’t be injured as seriously, but as the echo was incredibly strong, it made sense). It was a show of how brutal the world could be. WuWa is an open world game, so if the open world isn’t unique and very similar to other open worlds (like Genshin) there isn’t much incentive to explore. Unfortunately the pretty open world doesn’t stand out to me and it makes up a huge part of the game. One happy note though, looking at Arknights Endfield, their open world looks promising and it encompasses the sci-fi post apocalyptic look. And to be clear, I love Kuro as they’re great developers, and their other game, PGR. I just really hoped WuWa would be similar in terms of atmosphere. Less fantasy and more sci-fi Edit: Grammer
Alright **cracks fingers** Nearly all the points you made hit the nail right on the head. WuWa is a post apocalyptic world & it doesn't need to like what it is now. The dev's og vision was to make it a darker open world pgr with the same mature themes. But wuwa(like it or hate it)was created towards & catering into the genshin audience. It was also made to be a mass game that would financially up kuro by a notch(not saying its a cashgrab, but far from it).. Now this doesn't mean there wasn't any passion, but it was supposed to be more mainstream & not just appeal to a niche audience like pgr. But going to alpha & CBT,this mature take bit them in the back cause most of the genshin players are 12-13 y/o or early teens. So a mature theme totally went over their head. The dark world was not welcoming for a demographic that came from 5000 shades of vibrant colours shoved at their eyes. This mismatch in demographic & the theme of the game gave it much backlash. So kuro had to take a step back to rework on the game. And not to mention if they stayed at their og plan, the game wouldn’t have been nearly as successful as it is now. And considering how much budget went into this & kuro almost got bankrupt, that'd be catastrophic if the game did barely above pgr numbers Now there are also some problems with the game itself. Despite being POST- APOCALYPTIC world most of its map looks fantastical with hint of apocalypsy. And even the areas are scattered without any proper planning. You cannot convince me that port city of guixu has business stitting between a forrest & a dessert. A lot of the areas don't belong at the place they are in Now despite all the negatives, knowing kuro i have faith they'll definitely improve their vision & take wuwa out from the current identity crisis it has. Even pgr's start was rocky af & the early parts of tge story weren't as great as they are now. But if they can show the same amount of leap in quality as pgr,WuWa has the potential to even surpass its predecessor. Tho it'll take some time before kuro goes full in the chaotic pitch black gore route as pgr. In the upcoming region in 2.0,Rinacita,we probably won't see much difference in the map compared to 1.0 current map. That's cause kuro will go all in to grab as much audience as possible with this update(which they've already started with train stations themed as wuwa) & regain a lot who left during the buggy launch. So making the region dark & gloomy will be a bad marketing decision for audience they are trying to rach out. That said,i think the story will keep getting darker & grittier as kuro has been keep delving into characters struggles in the recent update(1.3 & 1.4). And maybe after the rinacita region, where the world & characters are developed, we will finally see the game go full edgy & gritty offing people like flies like in pgr. And by that time the game will have a hardcore audience. So kuro won't need to hesitate or pull punches when it comes to the world/story/characters cause most people will be set up for the theme of the story. Dark-fantasy,post apocalypticism is kuro's comfort zone & play ground. They'll eventually come back to it. Its a matter of time how they handle it & if the leap of quality is as big as pgr's. And seeing the progress in 1.3 & 1.4 I have nothing but optimism for WuWa
> You cannot convince me that port city of guixu has business stitting between a forrest & a dessert. A forest (not even dense one) can grow back after nature reclaims it after centuries or so, why not. A desert? I guess you mean Desorock Highland? That's not a desert, more like withered land and battle ravaged, it is the area with the highest TD frequency attacks.
They're using Genshin Impact as a Criteria for their opinion in this game, that's they want it "lively" but hey, in my opinion, they're trying their best to balance it out with the demands of the people
Problem is CBT is kinda dark. And we see our characters getting whacked (it's originally a punishing world) Personally, I loved it CBT way. Way I see it, the current one we have right now is a downgrade. Now the world is vibrant, it's amazing. But I wished the story remain punishing, not happy go lucky adventure thing like we have in 1.4 somnoire.
@@DisIngRaM The problem is, CBT cut scenes we see are out of context- when put together, it kinda becomes... weird. It would have been a really good balance if they mixed the old with new, but because WuWa is similar to Genshin "gameplay", testers were expecting old instead of new.
Hey, I get where you're coming from. Remember what happened during the Alpha test and CBT of Wuwa? A significant number of players, especially from the CN region, were very vocal about how the world felt overly dark and gloomy. Many of them raised concerns that the game’s atmosphere was just too heavy, making it hard to fully enjoy the experience. In fact, a large portion of the feedback centered around the atmosphere feeling lifeless and unwelcoming. The oppressive tone made it difficult for players to immerse themselves in the game world, leaving them feeling drained rather than engaged. The overall sense of bleakness and despair seemed to weigh down the experience. Despite recognizing the game's potential, many players expressed that it needed more vibrant and dynamic elements to balance out the heavy mood and make the world feel more alive.
I wish people would have just understood and accepted that there indeed can exist different genres in the world lol, it didn’t have to be the most popular thing in the world. I wish they left our dark twisted metal fantasy alone and let kurogames really try and work on that open horrific world.
elden ring is also dark and gloomy but its world is still fun to explore and immersive, i think the issue is the map/world design rather than the theme
@@RegashuDBexactly. I also wish that they kept the gloomy dark vibe. It's a post apocalyptic world for crying out loud not disney land that u need to make it colourful. I love nier games and it gave nier vibes in cbt 1.
I get what you say, but I think the world is fine like it is: Jinzhou is the civilization frontier, so anything outside the barrier of the city has been slowly reclaimed by nature, as the world suffered the apocalypse hundreds of years ago. It's very likely the entire Norfall Barrens WAS the city in the sky, utterly devastated. There certainly are weathered remains of buildings... We'll see how they manage to build a more urban environment, am environment less reclaimed by nature when new areas are released... I see your point, but I think they are doing a good work building that post-post apocalyptical world. It looks like humans are struggling to reclaim the lands lost to the lament long ago, but there is no catastrophe in progress like in PGR.
@@DaniZeros and people like us NEED at least a little area of destructed city, barren streets, fallen buildings, exhausting atmosphere, emptiness, death of civilization, dark-grey colors, hopelessness, and loneliness.
@@user-7sd89f7s9r I think Desorock Highland is ugly as hell, middle of Central Plains is ugly, Norrfall Barrens is ugly, Port City of Guixu and a lot of tacet fiellds and other ruins. I think the amount of ugliness is just right as for world few hundreds years after catastrophe, not during apocalypse. After all it's postapo not apocalyptic world.
I think what makes this theory accurate is Calcharo existing design Cause litterally none of chars in this game look like there from a post apocalyptic world......beside calcharo, who happens be the only char not from the jinzhou area (beside black shores)
1:43 Bro was SPITTIN’ like he was a pastor. 😂 But I feel you bro, A good story needs to have heartfelt moments and times where characters feel relatable.
I agree with you. I don't want everything to be bloomy. A good world should have its highs and lows. It doesn't have the same vibe as PGR but everything in this games just glows up after completing quests. Why is that? Why does everything has to be beautiful after a certain arc ehen we are talking about a post apocalyptic world.
Because that's what a proper protagonist does lol. Leaving a dying place in a dying state means that someone failed. I understand that you want postapocalypse atmosphere but there's a reason why this happens
@@tabkg5802 Huh? Buddy.. You sure you getting difference between fixing and plot holes? Sure 1.1 explained things really good but what about 1.3? Shorekeeper fell into into blackhole, talked to us for a long time through her projection ig and then suddenly it changes state of entire map. Not only that when we pulled her out of Tethys, that tower and rest of the area didn't turned red again. And do I need to remind you : "After getting fixed it's executing master command given at its creation". So they just fixed Tethys like that? Then what was all that quest about? 🤔 Now tell me what did mc even do here to fix Tethys? " *Nothing* " There was literally no reason for it to happen. Edit: And I'm sorry I might be selfish here but yes I want a post apocalyptic world. Not a Disney land where Mickey Mouse just fixes his Clubhouse like that.
@WanshiLucidDreamer this wasn't just about 1.3 but in general What they did is fixed the corruption of the system.....which is shown exactly through the environmental design. Also none of this would've happened if Rover wasn't there. Tethys system directly chose it's own objectives over the black shores which led to the problems that Rover fixed, Shorekeeper wouldn't have resolved that by herself
I agree. I think the problem is that kuro listens, too much. From what I can tell, a lot of people that play this game don't want a dark, gloomy game like PGR. And since the majority of people don't want it, they don't do it. Every patch i do recommend to make it darker, and i hope they do make it so. It seems like they did start going that way a little bit in the newer versions, so lets hope they keep doing it. I just hope that, if they do, the players will take a genuine look at it, and not automatically complain because it isn't genshin impact again. (sometimes i really hate gacha players lmao)
THANK YOU FOR SAYING THIS. I'm fuckin tired of WuWa cultists yapping "Trust in Kuro" and "KURO LISTENS!" The biggest mistake imo is how overly generous Kuro was and the fact they listened a bit TOO MUCH.
Honestly it just feels like a waste of the current combat we have. Right now it feels like some love story of a recovering amnesiac. I don't even dislike romance stories, but it just all feels so predictable right now. "Rover created this", "Rover told me not to tell you anything", "Rover is the true leader". I get that they are a God-like being, but I'm just seeking more relations between the different factions. Recently watched Arcane and it made me wish this game had something like that.
Man, preach and say it louder for the people in the back. B/c you are speaking facts. Thank you for saying the quiet part that alot of content creators dont want to address out loud. I apologize for this rant but here we go: I'm genuinely concerned for Kuros' future when it comes to dealing with criticism because there is a fine line between listening to criticism and bending to any and all demands. Because taking public opinion into consideration is important, it helps garner a sense of trust in knowing that we, the playerbase, will be in good hands versus other developers that openly deflect and choose not to listen at all, but it shouldn't come to the point where the creators/developers vision/story is compromised. The fact that such a small community of beta testers may have had such a large voice to influence Kuro games or maybe other outside factors we may not be aware of like Tencent getting involved to get rid of an amazing story is a damn shame because it's no longer the developers vision or product anymore. As a wise person said, a game meant for everybody is a game meant for no one. Heck, for the people that complained about the cbt, are they even playing the released game now? I did a bit of research to understand what may have been left behind in the cbt and what we have now and it feels like whiplash on how they approach the worldbuilding, environmental storytelling, and the chatacters themselves. There were actual stakes, Scar was a damn menace, and we were robbed of the badass that is the Crownless throwing hands. It's concerning that Scars involvement is what makes the story more interesting, but why couldn't we have that same spice at the beginning with the main cast we meet. Honestly, them being skeptical and questioning the rovers' existence seems more valid and makes the playable characters more interesting character wise. Let these characters have flaws, let them fuck up or make mistakes because they can learn from it. Baizhui,Chixia or everyone else's suspicion or weariness makes sense, because these people live on a post-apocalyptic planet with danger at their doorstep, and it makes sense to be apprehensive about a stranger who came out of nowhere and has unexplainable power. Like the rover could be a ticking time bomb for all we know and it makes sense for the chixia in the cbt to point the gun in suspicion because again the world that they are in, is currently in a war against monsters and out of nowhere this random stranger just absorbed the strongest monster they've ever seen and it makes sense that they consider the rover a threat. And the possibility that they could have brought in an enemy, that may have ties with the tacet discord or some unknown entity, that could wipe them off the map, killing her friends and loved ones would haunt her with guilt for the rest of her life. A way they could have redeemed her, in the sense to calm down the CN community's supposed hatred towards her, is to just have her take a moment of rover's time and explain or apologize why she did what she did. A way I could see them fixing the hostility that the people of jingho have towards rover could have been earned through acts of services like helping them out with small minut problems that they are going through to garner trust. But hey, the damage is done, and we just gotta accept what we have now, to some degree. It genuinely sucks that we were robbed of what could've been great. With characters that could've felt more flushed out and have personal motivations and aspirations. With a complex and interesting world with enemies being a threat and being able to explore a hazardous apocolytic world. But instead we have characters that are walking encyclopedias that are engineered to treat us, the protagonist, like a messiah at every waking moment.
@@pantra9195 bro could have been taught any language…. And he chose to speak facts…. U alone are the honored one bro thank you for understanding me unlike SOME people. 🙏🏽🗣️🔥
The apocalypse does not always come in the form of grey and gloom. a lot if it is just the colors of nature reclaiming the world (Think Dying Light 2). But yeah i get what you mean the game likely lost some of its identity when it caved to what is likely the same demographic as the Genshin fanbase.
0:46 y'know, maybe with just that video title alone, if this video gets to pretty much a whole PGR community, I highly doubt it gets much dislike as you said. The whole comments are pretty much positive aswell and sometimes even informative
While i do get your point. I feel the dark tone will soon settle it maybe by the time 2.0 comes along. Because we have been having a sorta one-off patch main quests ( quests that starts and end in the same patch) Stories of greater stakes will span multiple patches which I know will happen but not so soon maybe after half anniversary. We can see from the companion quests that kuro can write dark stories that are really good like changli's and even Encore story quest that made a grown ass man like me cry. Made me call my mom and told her I love her. My fear is kuro could overcook sometimes. In PGR we can't catch a break like slow down man stop playing with my feels like that.
for why wuthering wave bit of brighter tone im always gona blame that cn beta tester for that they complain that wuthering wave is too dark lah or not friendly lah man if only kuro stay with their plan with that kinda of story that gona be good
To summarize, you want a bigger edgier PGR but you're disappointed because Kuro went in a "lighter" direction. It doesn't make sense for the same company to have games sharing identical themes running at the same time. It makes more sense to have variety to attract a wider audience (in the game and as a general theme).
I mean Nier Automata and Elden Ring exist as proof that a dilapidated/dark world and story can work for a open/world game as long as the spectacle is beautiful and varied enough. Instead it feels like Kuro’s trying to cater to both crowds and failing to really capture anyone (except for combat). Really hope 2.0 is where Kuro really starts trying their own thing.
There capturing the genshin crowd which tbh, every new company that coming out with a new cn open world gacha game is trying to get piece of that playerbase
Honestly I prefer this more post apocalyptic look. I love dark fantasy and that’s stuff I mainly consume but when it’s always “apocalypse happened, everything is depressing” it just feels like you’ve already read/watched this happen time and time again. Post apocalypse is also a bit overused but not as much as apocalypse. Maybe overtime the story will get darker and I’ll be content with it either way. I just like the idea of thinking Rover might be a god of sorts and is trying to heal things. When you consume dark and depressing stuff only it’ll make things feel more… Empty. Add in a little bit of hope, not a lot just a smidge then you pretty much get something a tad more realistic which to an extent is nice. I think it suits things like this where PGR can be dark and unhinged but WuWa can be dark but also a little sweet.
Don't you worry, the current story for wuwa is so damn peaceful that it's tripping the balance off. You could say, this is just a prologue. An introductory sequence at the start of the show where the main characters are introduced. You'll have to wait for the good part somewhere in the mid game. Remember pgr's story? where the chapters 1-8 are just introducing the main characters, the villains, the setting and have become the stepping stone for the glorified surviving lucem chapter? I feel that wuwa is going on that direction. I have faith in kuro.
Apparently when Kuro released the beta of Wuwa, the Chinese community didn't like how depressing the atmosphere was. And in the end, the community that spends the most is the most important.
Based af to voice your opinion, I feel the same way, PGR's dark story has made me emotional and invested into the story like no other gacha or game in general, all the lore in other gachas I've played pale in comparison and almost feel bland to me, from genshin, wuthering waves, honkai star rail and many others. Liked and subbed.
damn. you reminded me of what i wanted on wuthering waves as well. i was super excited when i heard about the cbt1 story and the characters but in the current wuthering waves, the only part that still kinda has that was 1.0 the game is still good and better on why i quit genshin but damn not having openworld pgr is actually sad
As much as I loved PGR, comparing it to WuWa feels like comparing milk and coffee, one is light and easy to digest while the other keeps you up at night. If you want a world like PGR then play PGR. Each game has it's own set of demographic and as stunning as it would be to run around and see death everywhere, WuWa as of the moment isn't that type of game yet. Let the Devs cook man, and this is your personal opinion about the game and to be honest I just found it annoying how you kept whining about how you want this and how you want that, might as well spend that time complaining playing PGR and soak all of the death scenes.
I'm a huge fan of WuWa, but I totally get what you're saying. My first idea if it comes to a future region, is that I wish they make a more dense city, with more verticality, kinda like Nier : Automata's post-apo collapsing concrete mess. I think it needs a new area that feels way more dangerous, very unwelcoming. That feels the same way as that one scene of destruction in Jinhsi's cinematics, where you see people hiding under debris from the echos. One of my fav places in WuWa is also a place that is not used at all in any quest, it's that one old underground railway station under the river right above Tiger's Maw Mine
The story happens few hundreds years after cyvilization collapsed, It's normal that ruins would be covered in plants, just look at Chernobyl right now, or Warsaw during war and now. Not to mention most likely goal of mc is to safe the Solaris. I find your point not valid, and in terms of death we saw solidiers dying while on our way to fight the Threnodian, if pleyable characters would die it wouldn't make sense to make them pleyable, it would feel off to play dead characters.
Love playing future gohan in all DB games even tho homie is dead Dead playable characters would have novelty and love from their fans and still be played I’m not saying playable characters must die often but i want meaningful deaths from built up NPC’s, or have a character lose something important to them I already accepted wuwa is POST-post apocalyptic I’m just saying I want it DIFFERENT. like I said I am a minority in the situation not the majority haha
What the majority wants the majority gets always is and always will be. But Kuro doesn't shy away from what the minority wants, it shows in certain areas, parts of the story and companion quests. We have to remember they overhauled the story like 90% of it prior to release in response to CN's wants and that's probably the entire 1.X version of the game so I suggest we wait for 2.0 which if true comes next after 1.4. Let's see how Kuro cooked stuff for 2.0 now that they have given what the majority of the players wanted early on and now that they'd go on how they planned the game to be.
This is my biggest and last hope. 1.x version got screwed over the rewriting a lot i wanna see if they still want to keep their grim tone in 2.0 or turn the game full disney. If they dont stick to their own vision anymore ill treat this game as genshin 2 nothing more...
This is why as a PGR player i can't enjoy Wuwa at all the art and the style is not unique. It feel the same like every other game so i quit Wuwa, I gonna stay in PGR
Pgr is a whole different vibe compare to wuwa. Its closer to nikke in the beginning so i love both of em 🗣️🔥 I wont be taking Lumi slander tho 😡 I think wuwa is targeting GI fans so it was gonna happen, they also received alot of hate for making the landscape too dark. This game needs "the kuro touch" to get to that of pgr level.
HAHAHA nah bro if lumi is yo queen stand on business But I agree I really wish kurogames gave wuthering waves the expert darkness I know they can place. playing punishing grey raven made me wish they placed that expert gloominess in wuwa. I hate what some of the community has complained about in terms of its visuals.
@@Celica_42 kinda? can you blame them? you expect them to produce excellent voice acting when their previous game wasnt even voiced? anyway, i think the only thing they need is time. i also want them to pick the pgr route instead of GI.
Maaaaaaan! I am with ya! Do you know that WuWa was supposed to take another route? In the intro, Cixia almost shot the MC! But they had to go and decide to make the game for kids too! Damn it!
Yeah I hate it too. I am especially mad at the cn playerbase who turned this is into a more generic world. I also completely hate the fact the Kuro completely erased any traces of their original intent of a dark apocalyptic world. All because the cn playerbase didn't want "their waifus hurt" 😑
I can completly Understand ur point! came from playing Genshin Impact then HSR and got tired of that saturated coloured all the same regions and i saw WUWA and was wishing it was more darker, lost civilization type of atmosphere mostly but at least aint that bad... I used to play a lot Epic Seven and in that game u have all type of scenarios from cities full of life to destroyed and gore vibes... I think we Should let Kuro cook for now and hope when they get decent enough ppl happy , they might release some more areas with those vibes we want and maybe with calcharo story release has a bonus :)
I don't think they can really go as dark as PGR due to there not being a frame mechanic in the lore. I'm only on Chapter 9 atm so I don't know how dark exactly it gets, but I just would like some more complex story. Between all the different factions, I want to see some interactions. I honestly wish they made the reverse rain a random occurrence that could spawn more enemies in a given area or anything dynamic with the open world instead of static daily spawns for non-bosses and timed spawns for bosses.
Personally I think the whole 1.x is an experiment. Of course I can't guarantee anything in 2.0 haha but for me personally, I'm very excited for every patch.
I've never viewed WuWa as a post-apocalyptic setting. It feels more like humanity adapting to a new ecosystem, rather than trying to reverse it entirely. I've been a leviathan of PGR since launch, but I'm glad they're expanding outside the more depressing plot tones. WuWa isn't trying to compete with PGR. It's there to support it as a flavor change.
1:52 Why'd you start ultimately COOKING with your words bro. The way you were immaculately describing the desired world for the game was fire. But fr your points are so valid. I remember seeing the CBT content and thought it was generally more alluring tone wise compared to what we have now. But as you mentioned your views are not the majority, and I happen to lean into that majority. I've been enjoying a lot about current WuWa even though I ADORE more darker themed settings. Maybe it's cause I haven't played PGR and wasn't expecting it to be that way, but you def provided some insight to me about how Kuro handled both their games and I really hope things slowly take a turn for the darker as we stray further away from these more obviously protected, properly built cities/towns on the map later down the line.
You're honestly cooking, when I'm roaming around, it looks more like a Fantasy world than Post Apocalyptic. Story is oddly wholesome for a Post Apocalyptic story too, meanwhile in PGR we got Lucia dying in the first damn chapter, commandant literally in a Coma like Kirito while everyone is about to get mauled by corrupted. Rover is more like an Isekai Fantasy MC, the destined Hero that will save the whole world typa shit.
This is what I'm feeling right now. "Wuwa should have been different" this shit absolutely right man. Still I love Wuwa so much. Every time I log in, can't help but appreciate the effort devs put in. I will still continue my journey but I still hope really fk up maps will be added in the future 😢
I am so glad you talked about this I played pgr because of its amazing story telling plot and characters. Sadly, i see lack of story and story telling. Its like very badly done, the story and music doesn't make you feel the goosebumps or blow your mind away like pgrs story did.
From the sounds of it i think you might be looking for something like Forever Winter. Its still in early access but fits the grim dark you've been craving. It has tanks that uses corpses as armor/camo, and mechs that uses people as bio-battaries.
I do hate the overly flashy animations, I dont like that the protagonist never struggles, I dont like too many goofy charaters. That said a PGR live service open world will get boring on the eyes even for you in a few months. The current Wuwa direction is much better. There is 0 problem to add few apocalyptic regions.
@@dokutah2480 by flashy I mean too much bright lights happening on the screen by every ability or attack. we can have complex combat mechanics with toned down animations In Illusive dream its flashy to a point I cant see the boss at all.
Nah you're right. The only place that's REALLY given me that sense of the normal world being destroyed is the subway station near Tiger's Maw. Like yeah there are destroyed buildings and stuff but the subway station is the only place that made me go "Damn, people used to go here every day." The spectacle of Guixu and the big empty spaces make it feel inauthentic (cool but doesn't feel like it used to be a real city and the Shorekeeper quest didn't convince me otherwise), and I like Norfall Barrens but it still doesn't give me the vibe of "OMG people used to live here." I just hope it gets beyond its current dating sim phase because boy oh boy I'm not into it.
Disclaimer: the following is MY opinion, please don't reply "Go PlaY gENshit hihihi" because 1 Genshin has nothing to do with my thoughts on WUWA and 2 you sound like preschoolers I get that Kuro wanted/had to play it safe, but in doing that they created one of the most generic games to memory. Landscape, music, plot, characters and dialogues... It just feels like watching your standard self-insert isekai anime where the protagonist has godlike power and everyone can't help but be obsessed with them. The gameplay is good but for me unfortunately that's not enough. I hope they'll take more risks in the future because i think they deserve to be successful.
@m.raihanammarfachrezixpplg7898 yeah it's unbelievable how many people cannot have a conversation about wuwa without bringing up Genshin. Like I have my problems with the game but I think Kuro worked hard enough to deserve to have their project talked about on its own 🥲
@@caprichaos Well, at this point wishing for a peaceful conversation about wuwa (or even pretty much gacha games in general) feels like wishing a peaceful earth to live rn lol
@@m.raihanammarfachrezixpplg7898 very true unfortunately. For my own sanity I delude myself into thinking these people are like 13 yo so it can't be helped but yeah deep down I know that's not the truth lol
After the Black Shores/Shorekeeper drop and Camellya storyline i could use a break. Loved the "washed down" color palettes of the start, the impeding doom atmosphere all around the story and the environment, the barren Black Shores, but after seeing the latest drip marketing i am happy to see a splash of color, although, being heavily inspired by late reinessance Venice, i suspect we'll have plenty of dark stuff coming our way in the new year. Kuro has an excellent art direction, let them cook and let them experiment and play with variations. That's what i like about them. Cheerz!
It wasnt actually tectone's feedback, it was all the other genshin creators funnily enough. I actually watched his review of the cbt and he said the lack of colour was alright. It was a bunch of other genshin creators asked to do the cbt
Basically, cn playerbase couldn't bare the possibility of a gacha game not being a harem sim so they demanded they abandon all things that would go against that, cbt was leaps and bounds better than what we got, i skipped all the story in pgr, and somehow still find it more interesting through the bits and pieces i saw than the liquid ass writing ww has, i like ww, not a fan of the harem bs and the fact that it only has female chars.
I started to play because Wuwa has skip button. I stayed because game seems more mature, it has cool dark design and no stupid sh1t for kids like flashy and overly cute goofy characters, more and more cats, e.t.c. Last quest (ver 1.4) have 1 goofy character and more cats. WTF?!
I feel like more people should bring this up and give them something to think about, maybe they’ll end up having a whole different map at some point where it has a dark/horror vibe to it. The game originally did have that sort of tone until people complained. Who knows, maybe they have an idea for another future game with a dark vibe
OH MY GOD, NIER WOULD HAVE BEEN A GREAT EXAMPLE FOR WHAT THEY SHOULD HAVE LOOKED AT!!! It has the perfect balance of beauty and destruction, you had dorky missions and people like Jack-Ass but you had the loss of important characters too! Uhhh, I wish they did smth like that!
it's an interesting take ngl, maybe they have something like that planned for a future update since the map is still small and we are at 1.4, or maybe they go full happy colorful route who knows
I feel it the same. The darker game the it resonate with me. Fortunately, WuWa already has dark places and there is a chance to see them more in the future.
Sadly what you are wishing for just isn't were CN and Kuro seem to want to take it. Honestly? I'm fine with that, I enjoy a dark gritty story but sometimes consuming all those dark stories that we see in current media depresses me and this feels like a breath of fresh air. The camellya story was a little more dark though so I do think they are listening, but I really don't see it going full dark after the past 2 stories.
Alpha test and technical test were CN only So if CN didn't like it, Kuro thought the game won't be taken positively by the others. But you can see by those two how Kuro originally wanted the game to be like.
WuWa suffered from rewrites and crunch because of the initial negative reception of the CBT and launch. It takes time to create a great story like Genshin, with its Fontaine quests and PGR after Chapter 9.
While PGR world appeals more to me than WuWa, PGR is a pre and apocalyptic world, WuWa is Post one, also PGR started quite tame until everyone just died, so i'm curious which route WuWa will take
best vid you ever made yet and yell yea we need some of that pgr effects like turn yangyang into nanami or liv imperia that shit would be so good but not as peak as adding alpha tf they waiting for.
Man the thing that I miss the most, is the old UI, the old UI had so much more charisma, it looked like it came straight from Death Stranding mixed with PGR, and some of the UI elements came directly from the characters wrist's as a holographic interface like in warframe. The very early WuWa looked so much more original than what we got in the final product, and I like current WuWa. I really hope one of the future regions looks exactly like the early WuWa but on steroids now that they have more budget.
I do agree with the environment part, i love the game how it is regardless and i know about the Alpha and CBT complaints which is understandable but some more of that would make it more immersive the environmental story building would go crazy like the current event in Wuwa for the Illusive Realm has some city like environments and it looks phenomenal, i also love the pink grass white skies kind of environment i think the could balance it out without the entire world being draining or unfun to some players. The vibe of the game is a bit more mature and darker than some other anime gacha games, to me anyway which is what i like about it. It's what im interested in and what attracted me to it cuz i be enjoying this game. They can do what they want to their IP they'll cook either way buut the mature darker side of the lore would be HEAAAT.
You put everything I felt into words in this video, I just wanted a truly apocalyptic-style setting I could explore and run around in like Genshin. I'm not aware of the CBT story or any retcons, but I do think the ship has sailed already in terms of the opening story segment unless they want to invest a large portion of time and resources to re-do it somehow. I can only hope that they do better in the future and if Mt. Firmament is of any indication, then they can do it. Black Shores intro arc got me huffing some serious copium though.
If you really want to feel the dark and gritty vibes of Wuthering Waves, you should just check the Wuthering Waves Flow OST and you can really feel that it was meant to be gloomy and dark. Ngl still disappointed that the game is not dark and gloomy YET, but I do believe that it will come in the future versions of the game because I am always spamming it in the feedbacks.... So when does PGR 2 comes out?
While I am still enjoying WuWa so far its peak was Jinshi going up against the Sentinel and was like, "ok this is going somewhere good". Then we had that festival and though, "alright this must be the 'calm' before the storm." But so far its still very calm and I want it get back to something like when we first meet up with Jiyan. Still have hope though it might get there.
I completely agree with you. Hell reigns everywhere, and children run and fool around. The world feels like a bubblegum, where people are convinced that it is dangerous, but in reality there are plush monsters that will never reach cities or even small settlements. Just remember what the original fight with Crownless was like and what we were eventually given at release……..
To be honest, I don't really mind if they added a bit of light heartedness. It does not need to be gloomy at the start, they could slowly build up that kind of world. I do agree that it is like a post post apocalyptic world instead of post apocalyptic. It is what it is and I'm still enjoying the game so far. If you are interested a sad and gloomy world, try Limbus Company. The world in that game is just messed up from what I can see. I know that game is not open world, but the story is pretty good and the mechanic takes a while to get used to.
Not just the world build redesign , the whole opening arc complete rewritten, i prefer CBT 2 when Yang Yang gang doesnt blindly friendly toward Rover for no reason, they was realisticlly cautious. After Crownless battle Yang Yang was also heavily injured, the overall atmosphere was heavy and dark too
This overall video I fully agree. I was getting tired of it I played Ash Echoes where there’s more death and tragedy but there’s also heartwarming moments. I was hoping WuWa would be a post-apocalyptic tragedy, but instead we got a mid story.
rover glazing is getting tiring (i dont mind if its camellya) but damn cant other characters talk to each other than rover?, my favourite parts of pgr is the way characters interact, like karen and teddy or Cerberus trio, but in wuwa characters barely interact with each other aside from rover and it never changed since release despite my feedback on surveys addressing the complains, so i dont have any hopes of the world building in this game getting any better
THIS. Pgr had interactions between characters since launch even on the worst chapters wuwa has nothing like that. Im losing hope slowly and slowly if in 2.0 we dont get any change about character interactions or constant rover glazing ill consider this another disney esque game...
The problem is that Shorekeeper was a simp for rover, Camelya was a simp for rover in a different way and then the dragon girl was also glazing him, I’m starting to wonder if this is just how it is.
This is a valid argument, but you said it yourself, It's post post apocalypse. they've recovered and that's where the story is. It feels like you want something Wuwa didn't promise which can't be put on Wuwa. I do hope a game as you described is made however, it's something I like the sound of, but I like what Wuwa is now.
I agree. It pains me because wuwa overall gameplay suits my gaming style more but I still find PGR having more appealing characters and world. I love PGR more than wuwa, yet wuwa suits me better
Just looking at norfall barrens makes me sad because of the buiild up around ovathrax's revival and everyone dreading that event so hard and in the end it was just it's avatar that barely could form a sentence lol, It would be cooler if the big bad managed to revive even after everyone's effort and dreamless defeat, and the mc's party after some attrition and despair seek the help of the main city of huanglong to end the big bad guy in a epic war then move to the update 1.1 plot as an aftermath.
Wuwa devs are trying to be balance of both, Camellya character showcase already shows blood which is in line with Chinese censorship. I was surprised when I see it
2:04 your wants are valid but WuWa wanted to be mainstream and a profitable open world game, despite being a gacha game. Them listening to players was the only way that they could make that happen. They didn't want to alienate their competition's playerbase by making this game dark and gloomy. There's also misinformation where CBT1 had good story. Not, it didn't. I watched the livestreams. They did an amazing patchwork for the story after they got the criticisms in.
Let's just hope that on future updates they slide in the OG vibe that they presented us with the OG Trailer/teaser of Yangyang running away from god knows wich horrors... who were literally making the soil evaporate. The sheer violence & chills down the spine you get when the OST & the landscape appear is just insane and shouldve been Wuwa But I'm not losing hope, they haven't done this trailer/teaser for nothing, we might get our dark-apocalyptic patch someday
In my opinion I enjoy the story most when the rover plot is being explored. I’m alright with that. They also need to implement the side characters more into the story. In my opinion wanting an open world PGR was setting yourself up for failure
I agree with you - I would have liked it to be darker themed too with more devastation. however, like you said, the world is beautiful - and they catered to the masses - Kuro did what they do best: listen. Should they have?... on this particular issue, I don't think so.
Well, just get people moving to ask for feedback on the game, I know they'll listen. When everyone complained that the soundtracks in version 1.0 were mediocre, they improved the quality of the songs in 1.1 and onwards. Could it take a while? I don't know, because this isn't something that can be done overnight.
I always see the current phase of the game as calm before the storm. The lament is told to be relentless and it'd be a shame to not be able to see what it can truly do. We arrived in a relatively calm and peaceful area and will later move onto new regions that are hopefully much more devastated and actually showcase the effects of a global catastrophe of unknown origins.
yeah, and according to the game itself the story is still at chapter 1, the story we seen so far are "Act1, 2, 3, and so on" so the story will took a turn once we are in chapter 2 but thats just my speculation, we just have to wait and see
Totally agreed with you brother. BUTT, it was released to tackle a specific game, with a hint of skills. What you talked about is more of similar to Souls Like which is .....in development by some other company so yeah Wuthering Waves could have been that game but then Kuro already didn't had much grip as they had to go under Tencent. So it's fair if they wanted to milk some money in their pocket to something new and not just join the rat race. But if they treated WuWa just as a money cow .... then the concern is legit.
Tencent has nothing to do with kuro, they barely do anything like they only invested 14 percent into the company which is according to law over there in china is not even close to stop kuro decisions of what they do with there games, they still have most of the company shares, the major shareholder company has more then tencent even know kuro has the most
You basically want what the original vision of wuwa was. Problem is, the CBT1 beta testers didn't like it, so Kuro over-corrected it. I personally want something between what CBT1 was and what we have now, but I'm not complaining. I don't need wuwa to be as dark as PGR: I already have PGR for that.
Devs shouldn't completely change art direction just because player wanted it imo. They should instead do their own thing and improve on it.
They literally changed Tech Test and CBT 1's whole direction becauee of CN Players
@@mayhem_pgrand they still are . They are literally player simps now. “We promise we deliver”
Less fantasy and more sci-fi
Edit: Grammer
Alright **cracks fingers**
Nearly all the points you made hit the nail right on the head.
And considering how much budget went into this & kuro almost got bankrupt, that'd be catastrophic if the game did barely above pgr numbers
Now there are also some problems with the game itself. Despite being POST- APOCALYPTIC world most of its map looks fantastical with hint of apocalypsy. And even the areas are scattered without any proper planning. You cannot convince me that port city of guixu has business stitting between a forrest & a dessert. A lot of the areas don't belong at the place they are in
Now despite all the negatives, knowing kuro i have faith they'll definitely improve their vision & take wuwa out from the current identity crisis it has.
Man, let me crown you for words of wisdom and hope for the future: 👑.
People skipped listening, reading classes
Well said bro I agree with you 100%.
They're using Genshin Impact as a Criteria for their opinion in this game, that's they want it "lively" but hey, in my opinion, they're trying their best to balance it out with the demands of the people
Problem is CBT is kinda dark.
And we see our characters getting whacked (it's originally a punishing world)
Personally, I loved it CBT way.
Way I see it, the current one we have right now is a downgrade.
Now the world is vibrant, it's amazing. But I wished the story remain punishing, not happy go lucky adventure thing like we have in 1.4 somnoire.
@@yenahh6954 while in PGR they're actually doing their own thing
@@DisIngRaM The problem is, CBT cut scenes we see are out of context- when put together, it kinda becomes... weird. It would have been a really good balance if they mixed the old with new, but because WuWa is similar to Genshin "gameplay", testers were expecting old instead of new.
@@DisIngRaMdarker story = good. 😶
@@p4ntom87this
MFs never wanted the game to be good and different.

@@user-7sd89f7s9r Port City of Guixu is right there
Only thing it doesn't have it's dark-grey colors, but everything else applies to that place
That's how I see it as well, after post apocalyptic and maybe healing a bit
I think what makes this theory accurate is Calcharo existing design
Cause litterally none of chars in this game look like there from a post apocalyptic world......beside calcharo, who happens be the only char not from the jinzhou area (beside black shores)
PGR is a king in story and setting. It really doesn't get much better when it comes to gacha games.
1:43 Bro was SPITTIN’ like he was a pastor. 😂
But I feel you bro, A good story needs to have heartfelt moments and times where characters feel relatable.
I agree with you. I don't want everything to be bloomy. A good world should have its highs and lows. It doesn't have the same vibe as PGR but everything in this games just glows up after completing quests. Why is that? Why does everything has to be beautiful after a certain arc ehen we are talking about a post apocalyptic world.
trying to make us feel like god that’s all I can say about it. Kinda not vibing with this tbh
I wish i didnt finish the quests that had poison area and flame area now they are places with no charm at all just like everywhere else.
Now tell me what did mc even do here to fix Tethys?
" *Nothing* "
There was literally no reason for it to happen.
Edit: And I'm sorry I might be selfish here but yes I want a post apocalyptic world. Not a Disney land where Mickey Mouse just fixes his Clubhouse like that.
@WanshiLucidDreamer this wasn't just about 1.3 but in general
What they did is fixed the corruption of the system.....which is shown exactly through the environmental design.
Who remembers the GOATed crownless scene from CBT? Now that was great.
Sorry but i'm pretty damn sure it wouldn't have sold the same way if it stayed as gloomy, would I have liked it? Definitely, but chinese players rule.
@@mohakus4 i think you mightve misread my comment because that is pretty much what i said
THANK YOU FOR SAYING THIS.

Welcome to our club of mad disappointed PGRers.
The apocalypse does not always come in the form of grey and gloom. a lot if it is just the colors of nature reclaiming the world (Think Dying Light 2).
But yeah i get what you mean the game likely lost some of its identity when it caved to what is likely the same demographic as the Genshin fanbase.
And now global version of pgr is catching up with the cn version I'm so excited 😍
Because we have been having a sorta one-off patch main quests ( quests that starts and end in the same patch)
Stories of greater stakes will span multiple patches which I know will happen but not so soon maybe after half anniversary.

Yeah that what i put in player feedback i want more dark and i will do it again if another feedback come
I'mma give that feedback as well.
FIGHTING ON THE WAR FRONT I LOVE TO SEE IT 🗣️🔥
Honestly I prefer this more post apocalyptic look.
Liked and subbed.
the plot was beautiful. The world was beautiful. Now it's just a harem game where there's a lot of dancing and fun
damn. you reminded me of what i wanted on wuthering waves as well. i was super excited when i heard about the cbt1 story and the characters but in the current wuthering waves, the only part that still kinda has that was 1.0
the game is still good and better on why i quit genshin but damn not having openworld pgr is actually sad
Happiness is dead
We killed it
Never in this game's history I agreed more , with every single word bro .
U tell em
As much as I loved PGR, comparing it to WuWa feels like comparing milk and coffee, one is light and easy to digest while the other keeps you up at night. If you want a world like PGR then play PGR. Each game has it's own set of demographic and as stunning as it would be to run around and see death everywhere, WuWa as of the moment isn't that type of game yet. Let the Devs cook man, and this is your personal opinion about the game and to be honest I just found it annoying how you kept whining about how you want this and how you want that, might as well spend that time complaining playing PGR and soak all of the death scenes.
I like Wuwa as it is.
Love playing future gohan in all DB games even tho homie is dead
Dead playable characters would have novelty and love from their fans and still be played
I’m not saying playable characters must die often but i want meaningful deaths from built up NPC’s, or have a character lose something important to them
I already accepted wuwa is POST-post apocalyptic I’m just saying I want it DIFFERENT.
like I said I am a minority in the situation not the majority haha
@@RegashuDB Okey
Rinscita o whatever the next region in 2.0 is called will supposedly have carnaval theme so...
2.0 is shit
I have seen enough

This is why as a PGR player i can't enjoy Wuwa at all the art and the style is not unique. It feel the same like every other game so i quit Wuwa, I gonna stay in PGR
Pgr is a whole different vibe compare to wuwa. Its closer to nikke in the beginning so i love both of em 🗣️🔥
I wont be taking Lumi slander tho 😡
I think wuwa is targeting GI fans so it was gonna happen, they also received alot of hate for making the landscape too dark. This game needs "the kuro touch" to get to that of pgr level.
HAHAHA nah bro if lumi is yo queen stand on business
But I agree I really wish kurogames gave wuthering waves the expert darkness I know they can place. playing punishing grey raven made me wish they placed that expert gloominess in wuwa. I hate what some of the community has complained about in terms of its visuals.
@RegashuDB atleast we got a open world game from kuro. When I started playing pgr on 2021 I was hoping they make a ow game.
@@cypureisreallybusy
but this ain't it dawg
This shit is just GI trying to copy PGR
We already got our fill of horrors beyond human comprehension this year (silent hill 2)
Never gonna stop wishing for an open world PGR tho.
Personally I think the whole 1.x is an experiment.
Of course I can't guarantee anything in 2.0 haha but for me personally, I'm very excited for every patch.
well the game just begining and kuro need time to build up the story , build up relationship and then boom . ........
boom......all character dead and cannot be use......burn u own money...
We might get a dark, scary post-apocalyptic region in the future
I am so glad you talked about this
I played pgr because of its amazing story telling plot and characters.
Sadly, i see lack of story and story telling.
Its like very badly done, the story and music doesn't make you feel the goosebumps or blow your mind away like pgrs story did.
Now they're adding a new zone that is more bright and bubbly and looking at the trailers I asked myself is this the game we were promised?
From the sounds of it i think you might be looking for something like Forever Winter.
Its still in early access but fits the grim dark you've been craving.
It has tanks that uses corpses as armor/camo, and mechs that uses people as bio-battaries.
I do hate the overly flashy animations, I dont like that the protagonist never struggles, I dont like too many goofy charaters.
That said a PGR live service open world will get boring on the eyes even for you in a few months.
The current Wuwa direction is much better.
There is 0 problem to add few apocalyptic regions.
Personally i prefer flashy combat that feels good over non existent combat that feels like i'm always executing the same formula.
@@ixirion well I can’t say I’m tired of it yet after all these years 🤣🤣🤣 soulsborne has me in a chokehold with all my thousands of hours
@@dokutah2480 by flashy I mean too much bright lights happening on the screen by every ability or attack.
we can have complex combat mechanics with toned down animations
In Illusive dream its flashy to a point I cant see the boss at all.
Nah you're right. The only place that's REALLY given me that sense of the normal world being destroyed is the subway station near Tiger's Maw. Like yeah there are destroyed buildings and stuff but the subway station is the only place that made me go "Damn, people used to go here every day."
The spectacle of Guixu and the big empty spaces make it feel inauthentic (cool but doesn't feel like it used to be a real city and the Shorekeeper quest didn't convince me otherwise), and I like Norfall Barrens but it still doesn't give me the vibe of "OMG people used to live here."
I just hope it gets beyond its current dating sim phase because boy oh boy I'm not into it.
I think we might see more apocalyptic and darker areas in 2.0 and future regions. Jinzhou is "protected" but other regions could be way more dark/edgy
I'm pretty sure we'll get those dark places you really want to see in future regions
damn you just reminded me not only that they changed the colour tone but also I need to do clash this week...
Disclaimer: the following is MY opinion, please don't reply "Go PlaY gENshit hihihi" because 1 Genshin has nothing to do with my thoughts on WUWA and 2 you sound like preschoolers
I get that Kuro wanted/had to play it safe, but in doing that they created one of the most generic games to memory.
"Please don't reply 'Go PlaY gENshit hihihi'", damn, have a bad history of people's reply or something my friend? 😅
Cheerz!
It really does feel like we lost something when kuro took tectone and his ilk's feedback to make the game "brighter".
I highly doubt Tectone had that much influence to Kuro. And most of the audience that funds WuWa are Asians.
It wasnt actually tectone's feedback, it was all the other genshin creators funnily enough. I actually watched his review of the cbt and he said the lack of colour was alright. It was a bunch of other genshin creators asked to do the cbt
Tourists*
I like wuthering still hut a dark gloomy depressing aesthetic is my forte
WTF?!
God damn, I cut my finger just from clicking this video with all that edge. Bro never left his My Chemical Romance phase.
Jinzhou is just a remote city in the corner. I saw leaks in 2.0 map is big too and the environment will be more bright
I feel like more people should bring this up and give them something to think about, maybe they’ll end up having a whole different map at some point where it has a dark/horror vibe to it. The game originally did have that sort of tone until people complained. Who knows, maybe they have an idea for another future game with a dark vibe
They need to move away from genshit and move towards nier
Alpha test and technical test were CN only
So if CN didn't like it, Kuro thought the game won't be taken positively by the others.
But you can see by those two how Kuro originally wanted the game to be like.
KURO wanted that too but china players said no, so we got geshin 2.0 with PGR characters
I want everything you mentioned and I WANT THE HARD HITTING MUSIC FROM PGR. Oh and turn up the combat
Just remember what the original fight with Crownless was like and what we were eventually given at release……..
i really would love if kuro made a whole region in their original vision? like going allll the way with the gritty dark apocalyptic vibe.
I think it might get better as we were in the illusive realm as a permanent major update end colours are beautiful until yk that red is blood
Oof, definitely agree with just about all your points, punishing gray raven would definitely be my kind of game, but i dont have storage:/.
rover glazing is getting tiring (i dont mind if its camellya) but damn cant other characters talk to each other than rover?, my favourite parts of pgr is the way characters interact, like karen and teddy or Cerberus trio, but in wuwa characters barely interact with each other aside from rover and it never changed since release despite my feedback on surveys addressing the complains, so i dont have any hopes of the world building in this game getting any better
I was surprised when I see it
And here I got heat for saying this last year before Wuthering waves got released
The sheer violence & chills down the spine you get when the OST & the landscape appear is just insane and shouldve been Wuwa
But I'm not losing hope, they haven't done this trailer/teaser for nothing, we might get our dark-apocalyptic patch someday
We arrived in a relatively calm and peaceful area and will later move onto new regions that are hopefully much more devastated and actually showcase the effects of a global catastrophe of unknown origins.
yeah, and according to the game itself the story is still at chapter 1, the story we seen so far are "Act1, 2, 3, and so on"
so the story will took a turn once we are in chapter 2
but thats just my speculation, we just have to wait and see
Totally agreed with you brother.
Can't wait for Unending Dawn!!
