it's similar to that one video about how girls wanted men to 'fck off', and men did 'fck off' and went their own way leaving the girls.
people were concerned that lifestyles and hobbies surrounding videogames was undesirable, so the gamers went against it and opted for better ways to keep what they love doing whilst proving everyone wrong.
society asked for it, and here we are i guess.

Honestly, the biggest part of why the military Is getting fewer recruits is because everyone knows how trash it is now. The availability of information and the ease of calling bullshit on all the promises recruiters give you is why many people see the army as a joke option. The only people who make it good in the army stay long term past the 4years and dip strategy most people do to get free college and other benefits. I myself have had to call/text at least 10 recruiters/bots to stop texting/calling me within the last few years. So you can tell they're getting desperate for people when they won't even unlist your number.

Rescue Heroes and GI Goe comes to mind, even if they were mainly there to sell toys. The only industry where I think any human optimism, inspiration, or wonder is left is outer space, NASA, etc. It's the only industry left that seems to really be about the betterment and advancement of humanity, and hasn't yet been shown to be irreparably corrupted by greed and corporatization.

The gamer community has on average more ADD, ADHD and autistic people than other hobbies. That's why it seems they have low attention rates while its actually just more people with predespositions that cause lower attention spans.
They have found a videogame at a shooters house and instead of looking into all plausible causes they hyperfixated onto video games and made it their strawman.

I'm not sure if this is another factor, but a good other reason I was discouraged from the military due to my JROTC class.
I was forced into it by my stepfather, but while the Staff Sargent was wonderful, the other students left a sour taste in my mouth due to how an overwhelming amount of the other students were people I would rather not have in the military. Some of them were absolutely convinced that the second they join the Army, they will become these super elite soldiers from Call of Duty and won't need to put in much effort to do so, while others had an adverseness with authority that made it exceedingly difficult for them to cooperate either with anyone else, equal or superior or otherwise. It was so bad that on Veteran's Day when we should have done a march and ceremony to honor the Veterans, 90% of the JROTC class couldn't even march in a straight line, and also most of them didn't care enough to bring their uniform. I felt embarrassed just being around them.
Then there is the fact that one of the most memorable students was a lifelong bully who even in JROTC continued to try to pick on and beat the shit out of people simply for a laugh, and would go out of his way to cause trouble anytime the Staff Sargent was not looking. Honestly, the only reason I didn't get picked on much in JROTC by him was that I informed the 4th year students, who actually gave a shit about the class, and they stuck up for me. And I thank them for that.
Though ultimately, pay and mental health aside, my two main reasons for not joining the military were that my views didn't align with the military's... that and the fact that I am actually autistic to the point that communication is an issue for me.

    • @WastePlace
      @WastePlace ปีที่แล้ว

I’ve noticed that JROTC and the military disproportionately target people on the autism spectrum. I’m also autistic and was constantly pestered about it by recruiters and older members at my school. Either way it’s fuckin weird

    • @YukimareThePsion

@@WastePlace I never noticed the Autism targeting, though that may be because what put me in JROTC was my stepfather, who was unaffiliated with the military. The closest to affiliation was a biological abusive father who was in the military but tended to beat him with a belt when not on deployment over otherwise minor things, which in turn translated to the said stepfather of mine having a hair trigger for anger and several times wanting to devolve to the "beat kid to teach lesson" mindset. I think the only reason he didn't was that my biological mom was right there and had zero patience for laying a finger on me. That didn't stop him from degrading me every chance he got.
My Staff Sargent was also very well aware of my autism. To the point that in various meetings regarding my autism and the counseling I was going through to be able to better cope with NT people, he was frequently called in to give his own input. I don't know if he was actually trying to get me to join outright. But coming to think of it, he almost never attempted to encourage me to join the military, despite me being the one he interacted with the most in that class. So I wonder if as a result, he knew better than to attempt to recruit someone with as many problems as I do into the military.
As for pestering outside of that class, I was a lot, but I wound up dismissing it because it was not just Autistic people, but EVERYONE was pestered to join the military. To the point that at least once a year in high school, I went to a mandatory event at an auditorium or a variant of those recruitment trailers to listen to those recruiters try to convince us to join the military before prying our phone number and info out of us. Usually with a dose of the pre-"woke" ads and boasting followed by going on about friends, adventure, life, how forgiving the military is in reality to new recruits, and the salary and benefits of being in the military.

I know who it was that got Basic Training in Fort Benning’s Basic Training/OSUT recruit cycles to change to what it is now. It was once and traditionally a Hell Week type atmosphere at Fort Benning that was a carryover from the Draft Era of the Army. Abuse was rampant and new recruits often got to their new units with a lot of distrust and fear of Non-Commissioned officers. Leading to distrust and violence towards those NCO’s. The person who spearheaded the “First 100 yards” concept for OSUT training, and then the rest of Army recruit training, was a former Drill Sargeant of mine. He was notoriously hateful, vindictive, and unfair. He stood out amongst the other Drill Sargeants who were also tough but not unfair. He tormented a few recruits into quitting and getting ELS’d because of his flawed concept of not wanting what he perceived as weakness in his cycles. If you appeared weak he targeted you and he did it to a particular recruit the most. Constantly he targeted the guy and when the time came for the Live Fire Night Infiltration course that guy fired his weapon at him. If the guy was a better shot he would’ve killed the Drill Sargeant that night. I’m sure he’s had a long time to think about that and in turn he did become a good, fair, and caring leader and when he got to a TRADOC command billet he proposed a study and found out that recruits from Fort Benning left with distrust of leadership because of disproportionately unfair practices that developed from the old culture of doing things. He was lambasted for it by the veteran community but if only they were there to see the catalyst of it all.

The salary isn't worth it, the life style isn't worth it, the rewards isn't worth it, people only join because we get to legally murder, but they banned the most crucial reason why men go to war, now we're an global police with an image to protect, the troops are completely unnatural in purposes and action, "you're telling to die and kill, like an mashine, but we can't even keep the ears of the people we killed?", doesn't it sound ridiculous? You can kill them, you can cripple them, but you can't keep any thing from the person you legally killed, it's like the death of someone is political, and doesn't matter in the least. back when war made sense, if you killed an womans husband/father/brother, you get to keep them, but now they are just left in ruins, with no one to support them, it’s like slaughter without an reason. I think part of them trying to appeal to more left leaning demographics may be a long term plan. One of the issues the military has with recruitment is that people are way more likely to join if they have a member of the family or someone close in their community that has previously enlisted. I don't remember the statistics off hand but it's pretty high. So they keep pulling from these small pools of people which tend to lean rural and conservative.

I've been in the army for 4 years now, before this I dropped out of high school and played video games non-stop for about 4 years while living at my mom's house. The army really doesn't treat you that bad especially if you choose a POG mos. If you aren't really sure what you want to do with your life or have always thought about joining as a kid I would recommend giving it a try. If you quit within the first 6 months you will get marked as a "failure to adapt" and you won't have any bad paperwork follow you like a dishonorable discharge would but they also won't let you join again (probably).
It is a fun experience as long as you have the disipline to learn how to do stuff and you can play well with others. I got stationed in Germany my first contract so I've spent the last 3 years touring europe and now that my duty station is in the US we are deploying to eastern europe so I'll get to go back and spend even more time over there. It's not a job for everyone but it's probably the best job I can recommend to a testosterone filled 20 year old looking for an adventurous lifestyle.
If you are thinking about joining my advice would be to study all of the creeds for the stuff you want to do, get in shape before you show up (actually very important if you don't want to recycle basic training), and don't let the recruiter convince you to get a job you don't want to do (unless you are just joining for money then just grab the fattest signing bonus you can).

Hilarious hearing this. I joined the navy straight out of high school. I got a 96 on my ASVAB and my recruiter told me to go nuke. I asked him before hand if my prior medical history would disqualify me from joining (a prior suicide attempt) and he said not to mention it to anyone and i would be fine. Turns out i wasnt. 2 weeks into basic i get pulled to the side and told in the most backhanded way "we know youve been diagnosed with these things in the past, and if you dont tell us where you were diagnosed youre going to be sent to federal prison." thats not what was said exactly but thats what they meant, me being 17 and not wanting to ruin my life for someone to meet their quota for people recruited, i told them exactly what they wanted to know and was told i wasnt "fit for duty" then i was immediately pulled out of training and sent to "Ship 5" AKA Separations or SEPS. This was the most depressing place to be in. there was black mold growing in the showers, 168 dudes at a time inside of one big room filled with racks, and the only time we left the room was to go eat sack meals with moldy food until someone wrote a letter to their parents about the living conditions and we finally got access to the chow halls that everyone in training had access to. The worst part about SEPS was that you never knew when you were going to leave. there was a kid who had been in there for a year because his case was still being processed, and many more who had been in there for months. We were treated like subhuman animals because in everyone elses eyes we were quitters. I had my 18th birthday in SEPS, and ill never forget how alone i felt in that moment. I was motivated during training, and i was so sure that my future would be in the military... but they had kicked me out because they were worried id be another negative statistic. that was when i realized the government wasnt meant to protect its people, but themselves.

Real Gamers tend to fast accidentally. I have come off of plenty of 14 hour League sessions only to realize I'm not exactly hungry after consuming all the salt from my own tears after getting slurs hurled at me all day. I don't know where I was going with this.

I can't remember exactly what it is but they also have an us air force analysis or replay or award or something like that baked in where the commentators say that it's brought by them :D

Most gamers know Metal Gear or Spec Ops The Line, if there is one lesson you can get from those games is that war is hell, also that being part of the USA army tends to be ass.

As a Gamer and a person who wants to serve the military especially the Navy, I see this as a win win situation, every two days, I do a 3 minute plank, and a 1.5 mile run in 11-12 minutes, and sometimes below 11, like 2 runs ago, I got my pr of 10 minutes 17 seconds

There are also many kinds of games as well, like Doom where you tear apart enemies like they are made out of paper, Undertale where you can talk every monster out of battle and everything in between.

Id say compulsory service should be a thing, but it should come with real world training that actually applies their real world counter parts. Combat medics who see and treat some of the worst injuries on a daily basis cant even qualify to be doctors let alone be EMTs . Benefits should also be big part of the incentive structure along with 6 figure salary. Also a compulsory service would make politicians less to push for wars since that would mean shipping their own kids off to die. This would also help reduce the toxic environments generated by anti government militias who like to cosplay as US servicemen.

"politicians less to push for wars since that would mean shipping their own kids off to die" Lol. oh how naive. you really think anyone remotely rich or powerful would require their kids to risk their lives? They would AT WORST get safe desk jobs.

I think gamers are skinnier is because gaming uses more brain power and you use more calories. When I was in the army in ait training, a high ranking officer said we are the smartest generation due to gaming. Gaming trains your reflexes and muscle and brain coordination which is what soldiers need lol
P.S never join the military, life is to short to sacrifice yourself for rich people

And if the military didn't engage in morally unjustifiable acts, it definitely wouldn't have a recruitment problem. The military appeals to many people but many of these same people can't stand behind a military that invades other nations for corporate interests.

  • @antwarior

the army has way too many restrictions on recruitment, that's why they falling short and I am glad it's happening to them cause I tried so many times for 6 years straight to join the army in my early 20s and they would not accept me just because of a small tattoo of my mother's name on the lower part of my neck, it's crazy as hell cause I even passed their test and was eligible to join but got disqualified over and over again because of my mom's name on my neck which I think is crazy
