The lyrics are apparently about somebody who is figuratively asleep, or blind, to their own lies or somebody else's lies. But saying "everyone knows that you've/she's got alterior motives" implies that they are the only one who can't see through their own, or somebody else's lies. this lead is based on a YT comment... I honestly don't get why people take it so seriously? I could throw out any artist that sounds similar and claim it's them. People taking this as a "lead" are the reason why we most likely never find it
Oddly enough, I remember hearing a full version of the song in a dream once. Don’t really remember too much from it, though, but it’s cool to think about.
I once dreamt I was hearing an unreleased song by Alanis Morissette. I was a big fan of hers at the time, and in the dream it sounded exactly like her voice and her style of music and lyrics, something about being angry at an ex-boyfriend but wanting to move on to become a more peaceable person, and from what I remember it was catchy as hell. Then when I woke up I was disappointed that the song didn't exist. But it showed me that the brain can do some creative things during dreams too, and it's not all nonsense.
Oddly enough, I remember hearing this song, or thinking I was hearing it, very very faintly like it's way off in the distance, after I had skipped sleep two nights in a row. I used to describe it like it sounded like a TV sitcom theme song from the late 80s/early 90s. Imagine the shock I felt when I stumbled upon this rabbit hole on the internet and heard the snippet, I was blown away like THATS IT!! THATS THE SONG!!
Carl92 was active, replying to questions seemingly as curious about the song as the rest of us. If it was AI generated, what was carl's end goal? If he was (is) trolling us all, then the more likely option is that he created the song himself... if that is the case, then he is obviously a talented musician and needs to start making more music.
Even if it’s not on the Internet, I think there’s still a high chance that as long as it continues to become more popular more by the public to find it, it will probably just come out of nowhere one day and be posted. That’s how I noticed a lot of other pieces that haven’t been posted before online show up. They just kind of show up online one day due to the public fascination by it. Also, part of the reason why a lot of people are saying oh I think I’ve heard this before is because you have to understand with music. There’s a lot of cord progressions, drum patterns and melodies that musicians use are just common in general. usually they are just pleasing to the ear/easy listening, it’s something that is popular to do at the time, or they just trying to emulate a certain sound. And this song very much has those elements that are very generic for its time, and that’s why it can seem like oh I’ve heard this before when it’s really just there’s a lot of songs that also sound similar/same due to common melodies/styles used for parts of songs.
I found this whole EKT drama today, i heard the song many times and saw a lot of videos talking about it, this whole song got me so interested man But i was thinking. What if we're not finding the song because the real title is something totally different? It could be "Ulterior Motives" or something we may not even know
1:55, bear in mind that ai was still a thing during that period of time. It was called "neural networks" and they didn't really get chat-gpt or dalle good until about a year later. They were fairly niche at the time. I remember dinking around with ai back then on sites like wombo and botnik. They were crude, but still capable of producing clips of audio like "Everyone Knows That". Although the consistency of quality differed drastically between models and different neural networks.
EKT will never be found because of all the kids in the community spamming "omg i found ekt real!!!" videos and a new hoax lead every other day. the anonymous attention whoring in this community is INSANE. everyone's fighting over the lyrics when they're not even indexed online. it'd take carl92 admitting it's fake over another 100 fake leads any day
What you said is so interesting, it maybe wasn't saved in the internet cuz at the time it only sounded as any generic 80's-90's song and yet nowadays, the reason why this case is so curious is because of that sound
Carl92 KNEW the whole time, 17 second part was the ONLY uninterrupted part of the original source (an 80s "bed wrestling" movie named Angels of Passion), Other parts had moans in it, the only thing that interrupted the 17-second snippet was the bed creaking, which everyone thought was the sound of someone eating chips
That song really gets to me as someone who speaks english as a second language, this is exactly what it was like for me to hear english as a child with very little vocabulary only understanding certain words and phrases
Regarding the lyrics...I'm surprised nobody else seems to hear *"you've surely got"* before "ulterior motives"...which is directed to a general entity, never directly addressing a woman/lover figure like we'd all just assumed it was about. In fact, The very first word we hear is "You're" and not "she's." I think it might be important to keep this in mind when looking for leads, because this song-if real-may have been written about something else entirely, like, say, the ulterior motives of politics. ...Not that this particularly helps much in the grand scheme of things, but thought I'd mention it.
Here’s a fun fact: there is a very rare Nintendo DS game which people believed to be utterly lost - as in no copies could be found, no gameplay footage was ever recorded, all we had was a single photo of the game box. Two (?) years ago, a TH-camr stumbled across not only the game card but also the matching limited edition DS which we didn’t even know Co-existed with the game! The game was eventually uploaded to the internet and now anyone can play! Moral: even if something seems to be completely lost forever, there is always a chance it will end up being found when you least expect it. I hope we find this song, you can tell a lot of love and effort went into it.
i actually did my own lil search a few weeks ago that i got debunked, so someone posted a lead for a vinyl i couldn't find anything about. it was for an adult entertainment company as they had their own music in the backgrounds of their *ahem* videos from the mid to late 80's before they went of business. i listened to the only vinyl they made which is online and the music did fit as it was all cheesy pop music and it was aired on TV to my knowledge but i contacted someone who knew their stuff and told me that vinyl didn't exist and it wasn't from that company and that someone had made a FB post in the spanish circles a few months back saying this song was from this company even though now it wasn't. No doubt it was made for a video either an advert or maybe a old 80's forgotten sitcom as the music clip is indeed recorded from a TV broadcast. Even if we never find out who sung or made the song as alot of indie bands and singers back then for adverts and media productions were barely credited, i hope the full song resurfaces someday
It must be just an 80s advert that only aired like once or twice and then just fell into non-existence... The only thing we have left is carl92's snippet. Sucks cos there isn't even a possibility of anyone remembering the advert as it never had the chance to be noticed!
my theory is that it’s actually audio from an old ad on tv from a clothing brand that was popular in the 80’s and 90’s called ulterior motives and there never existed a full version of the song. when searched in ebay ulterior motives is an actual clothing brand popular in the 90’s so yeah

yo anyone thinking its ai, yo gotta know ai wasnt like that in 2021, yknow how ai became better fast, its the opposite in that way. No realistic images of ai werent even made till dall e 2 and music ai is still not even that good! I listened to probably over 3000 hours of 80's music and i dont think ai could replicate those drums sounding exactly like extremely specific digital instruments! And possibility 2 of it being a fake is it being made by carl92 himself. See, i dont think some random guy on some random tuesday evening could go and make those legendary guitar instrumentals. I might be wrong though.
I actually don't believe Everyone Knows That is a real song, personally. With how "familiar" people tend to claim the song seems, and how vague/nonsensical the lyrics seem to be - I think it's just a snippet of one of those lawyer-friendly bangers created for commercials that exist only on stock library albums available for purchase by television and filming companies. "Tim And Eric Awesome Show, Great Job!" used a lot of songs like this. They're essentially made to sound like real songs, but just slightly off-kilter since you're never really meant to hear the lyrics, since commercial voiceovers usually speak over them.
I just wanted to add my opinion: I have listened to the original sound clip SO many times on whatszatsong, and I can clearly hear the microphone moving, proving that it was being held up to something, it was also found that the frequency matched the same of a tv. my theory is: top of the pops (british tv music show) used to reuse tapes to save money, so once a song was played on the tv, it was wiped and then reused for the next lot that performed. Most likely, a reused tape was used on this song on a music channel somewhere, someone recorded it on a microphone. Once the show ended, it was wiped for the next episode of the show. what does everyone else think? AI is out of the question tho, You can hear the lyrics but they are just slightly muffled, recorded of the obvious cheap 90s microphone.
Yeh I think the snippet came out just slightly before all the AI hype. Much like TOTP, it also could have been on a show like MTV basement tapes. It was just shown once and then forgotten. Carl92 just happened to be there recording at the same time.
Although I do believe there is a small chance of this song eventually being rediscovered and brought back to life, I do agree with your point of view. There is a very small chance that it is AI, and I don't believe it was possible to create something like "Everybody Knows That" in 2021, especially if AI wasn't as popular or as advanced as it is today. But I hope we do eventually find this song, so we can finally listen to it fully as it was intended. 🎶
it's hard to tell if this is parody or not, because the guy who uploaded it to watzatsong didn't try to hard to make it that famous, but the lyrics of a LOST song being "everyone knows that" is questionable.
LYRICS (HYPOTHETICALLY): You carry all The shame in disguise, Caught up in a web of Lies. Everyone knows that (you’ve got) Ulterior Motives ( tell me The TRUTH ) And just when ya think that ya have forgotten That’s when you’ll notice (What can i do?) Everyone knows it, yeah, Everyone knows it Everyone knows it, Everyone knows it.
I too wish its found, it would be really awesome because the song has a really good rhythm and I actually enjoy it. But I strongly believe it was made by AI or even by Carl92 himself so it's basically impossible to find. Anyways we have to keep hope in the search, maybe it's found someday !! btw i like ur videos you should have more subscribers!
I honestly feel it’s more likely he created the song himself than it being completely made by an AI, or perhaps he arranged it from an AI? If this search had been going on since 2010 for example I’d maybe find this a bit more believable but we’re at a point now where I can’t even be sure the original is even real. In addition, I doubt most people on this search would even remember that time clearly if they were even alive at the time.
Idk, IAS weren't that advanced at the time this song arrived on the internet, and even today, have you heard any music made by IAS? it's terrible. It is literally impossible for this to be done by IAS
i used to know songs that werent on the interner but existed back then. One say was Getaway by Scorpio from 1992-5. the person who uploaded it got terminated and now i cannot find it. It was a chill hip hop song
I always suspect that it must be made from a time traveler, a time where you can extract things out of your mind, just like copying and pasting a file into another folder. Or it’s a station from an alternate universe that manged slipped into Carl92’s TV where that song is popular music making it onto the early internet of that universe
2:54 I think that "the sheeps in the sky" means clouds. like sheeps are as fluffy as clouds lol Honestly this kinda unlocked an old core memory of mine, i was a kid and i was laying in the grass, actually counting the clouds in the sky, i really hope that etk will be found
To me, it sounds like it could be from an old rehearsal of the song that was recorded, and eventually the song was simply scrapped. Similar thing happened to Jimmy Come On Back by Stevie Nicks.
Guys I may have some trusted info. I asked my old cousin, and he actually reminded something about it. He said that he probably heard this on ''Atomic TV'' which was a polish music station in 1997-2000, before in 2000 MTV Poland replaced it with MTV channel. Then he said, that he watched this during the night after 12AM.
Cmon.. EKT 2nd birthday just happened! We need hope! We do!! Lost media takes a WHILE , soon we all of us *everyone* may take a few more years though, but who *knows* ? Surely we’ll hear it soon like *that* .

this lead is based on a YT comment... I honestly don't get why people take it so seriously? I could throw out any artist that sounds similar and claim it's them. People taking this as a "lead" are the reason why we most likely never find it
@@GodzillaKaijuGKmy uncle who wasn’t a musician could’ve made it at this point.

Oddly enough, I remember hearing a full version of the song in a dream once. Don’t really remember too much from it, though, but it’s cool to think about.
Wait WHATTTTT 😭

This comment aged poorly
4:21 i regret to inform you that it probably wasn’t the recording device

its likely that it was a song that was used in an old advert or played on MTV or the radio or something, but was never released to the public.

Well, we found it, but you don’t wanna know the source of the song.
*PORN*
I found this whole EKT drama today, i heard the song many times and saw a lot of videos talking about it, this whole song got me so interested man
But i was thinking. What if we're not finding the song because the real title is something totally different? It could be "Ulterior Motives" or something we may not even know
probably.
EKT will never be found because of all the kids in the community spamming "omg i found ekt real!!!" videos and a new hoax lead every other day. the anonymous attention whoring in this community is INSANE. everyone's fighting over the lyrics when they're not even indexed online. it'd take carl92 admitting it's fake over another 100 fake leads any day
I’m so glad we finally found it, now to just get a clean version without the extra noises 💀
carl92 admitted something alright.
There was this 1990's streaming service (or website) called napster that probably has the song on it
What you said is so interesting, it maybe wasn't saved in the internet cuz at the time it only sounded as any generic 80's-90's song and yet nowadays, the reason why this case is so curious is because of that sound
Never say never bro
I still have hope!
Carl92 KNEW the whole time, 17 second part was the ONLY uninterrupted part of the original source (an 80s "bed wrestling" movie named Angels of Passion), Other parts had moans in it, the only thing that interrupted the 17-second snippet was the bed creaking, which everyone thought was the sound of someone eating chips
yep xDDD
It's probably on a tape sitting in the back of a midwest thrift store.
That song really gets to me as someone who speaks english as a second language, this is exactly what it was like for me to hear english as a child with very little vocabulary only understanding certain words and phrases
Regarding the lyrics...I'm surprised nobody else seems to hear
*"you've surely got"* before "ulterior motives"...which is directed to a general entity, never directly addressing a woman/lover figure like we'd all just assumed it was about. In fact, The very first word we hear is "You're" and not "she's." I think it might be important to keep this in mind when looking for leads, because this song-if real-may have been written about something else entirely, like, say, the ulterior motives of politics.
...Not that this particularly helps much in the grand scheme of things, but thought I'd mention it.
why are the background videos so unsettling, i just wanted some insight on the search not nightmares
Lmaoooo
Here’s a fun fact: there is a very rare Nintendo DS game which people believed to be utterly lost - as in no copies could be found, no gameplay footage was ever recorded, all we had was a single photo of the game box. Two (?) years ago, a TH-camr stumbled across not only the game card but also the matching limited edition DS which we didn’t even know Co-existed with the game! The game was eventually uploaded to the internet and now anyone can play!
Moral: even if something seems to be completely lost forever, there is always a chance it will end up being found when you least expect it. I hope we find this song, you can tell a lot of love and effort went into it.
don't doubt yourselves guys, we will someday get those ulterior motives!
i actually did my own lil search a few weeks ago that i got debunked, so someone posted a lead for a vinyl i couldn't find anything about. it was for an adult entertainment company as they had their own music in the backgrounds of their *ahem* videos from the mid to late 80's before they went of business. i listened to the only vinyl they made which is online and the music did fit as it was all cheesy pop music and it was aired on TV to my knowledge but i contacted someone who knew their stuff and told me that vinyl didn't exist and it wasn't from that company and that someone had made a FB post in the spanish circles a few months back saying this song was from this company even though now it wasn't.
I seriously hope this song gets found. I highly doubt it was created as a troll or joke

my theory is that it’s actually audio from an old ad on tv from a clothing brand that was popular in the 80’s and 90’s called ulterior motives and there never existed a full version of the song. when searched in ebay ulterior motives is an actual clothing brand popular in the 90’s so yeah
this makes so much sense

i think people managed to find the instruments used to make the background beats of the song....and they were all equipments from the 80s and early 90s....meaning that it is indeed from the 80s..and probably an unfinished project of an artist..

yo anyone thinking its ai, yo gotta know ai wasnt like that in 2021, yknow how ai became better fast, its the opposite in that way.

They're essentially made to sound like real songs, but just slightly off-kilter since you're never really meant to hear the lyrics, since commercial voiceovers usually speak over them.
ive seen you on GTA song and RDR song comment sections lol.

There is a very small chance that it is AI, and I don't believe it was possible to create something like "Everybody Knows That" in 2021, especially if AI wasn't as popular or as advanced as it is today. i definitively think it wasn't a.i. generated, since back then the a.i. technology wasn't as developed and popular as today.
Let's just say the AI theory is DEFINITELY wrong.
