First Blight lasted 200 years, fifth Blight lasted 1. The sixth one will last a week, and the seventh will end as soon as the Archdemon pops it's head out of the ground to find the Wardens already surrounding it. Well, 2 things. 1, If I remember the wardens had maps of where the prisons were stored in Weishaupt, (I believe from a codex entry in DA:O, could be wrong.) 2, seasoned grey wardens say they can understand the Archdemon, so the name could be found from its commands I.E. "I Urthemiel hear by decree the surfaces shall fall to our grand might!" "My silence is broken, Hail the return of Dumat!" I like to imagine the dragon being very egotistical.
I hope we see a blight again in a future game. If we do though, there has to be something different about it. Maybe the darkspawn manage to reach BOTH of the last old gods. A final massive blight with twin Archdemons leading the horde. Maybe even set the blight up in one game, then the next game is several years later. Multiple countries have fallen, hordes of refugees, maybe even some previous characters die in the fighting. It'd be like that alternate future in DAI, but that's the actual game.

My guess is that the Sixth Blight will begin when either Solas or one of the Evanuris awakens the Sixth Arch Demon. As for the 7th Blight, take could take place 400 years in a new age, an era where theFereldan has become a steampunk empire, the Elves have a kingdom of their own in the remains of the Tevinter Imperium and began worshiping just Solas, the Orlesian Empire has been reduced to a 4 principalities, the Qunari still has holdings on Seheron, the Dwarves are forced out of their homes and wander like the Dalish once had and new races have occupied the Free Marches, Andersfel and Neverra such as the Kitsune (A race of humanoids with Fox Ears and Fox tail), the Gnomes (Who have pointy ears and purple skin), the Scalians (a race of blue skinned fish people that are just as beautiful, wise and might as the elves once were during the reign of the Elevhen Empire) and the Faunis (a race of wolf like humanoids with goat horns).

I love your content, so.... I subscribed. According to Solas, killing the last of the Old Gods could cause something worse. But, that would be entirely up to Bioware.
Sort of? Of what we know of the blights history right now- there aren't a lot of spoilers, so most information was added to the video. The only big spoiler of the bight revolves around the Magisters Sidereal- so I was just going to combine the small blight piece with the Magister video :D
So what happens after the Wardens kill all seven old gods? Is that the final, true victory against the Darkspawn? Or do they find a new way to rally and attack Thedas?
Great video just saw your lore series love it! But on hearing some of those names I thought I was a Legacy of Kain video lol. Some of the names are awfully similar I.E. Razikale sounds similar to Raziel
Great question! Long story short, the first sin, at least taught by the chantry, is when the humans turned away from the maker and began to worship the old gods. The maker then punished the old gods by imprisoning them underground, and turning his back on Thedas.
Missrena1000 I mean I’d be pretty pissed if I’d worked my ass off to make these intelligent beings and a whole World for them to live in only for them to start praising someone else for it,like “Hello? @@ashton7845 to transfer the essence of the archdemon to an empty vessel? All that does is give him enough power to sunder the veil. I don't believe that's the best way to deal with them. It's just the method that best suits him.
@@Manstermash I agree it's not the best solution, I'm just saying that based off of what we saw from Solas in game he didn't like it when even the spirits were killed. I was merely pointing out that his method to dealing with the arch demons would align with what morrigan had done.
His anger towards the Wardens annoyed me. He obviously knows more than he is letting on and yet criticizes the Wardens methods when he doesn't even offer any solutions on what really should be done for a world ending problem. Are they supposed to just sit around and let the darkspawn kill them? I always felt like saying "Then what solution do you have baldie?"
I thought we did know the one who ended the Third Blight, or is there a difference between the Hero of a Blight and the person who actually killed the Archdemon? Is “The Hero” just a title given to a Warden who performed some great feat? The unique axe “Cleave” in DAI mentions that it was wielded by the Hero of the Third Blight, a dwarf warrior named Loris.
I think you said something about direct transfer of blood based products to spread the Blight. Then discussed it as a dry film even powder which exists in heavily contaminated area. It sounds very much like a spore forming infection like a fungus or anthrax. In its active state it infects through direct contact with similar tissue like blood or saliva but if no food source exists or it exhausts its host it creates a fruiting body an inside it are spores which wait sometimes years for new hosts.
EpicFiringWar A blighted titan is...terrifying to imagine Its possible the blight was a weapon created by one of the Evanuris the female one who goes into the void. But its unclear why or what purpose it was going to be used for
I’m curious what would happen if the last archdeamon is killed would the darkspawn just stop not moving having no Purpose/ nothing controlling them or would they go on a death walk attacking until they die from Exhaustion?
Honest to god, the in-lore answer is basically 'Scholars thought really hard about it'. In reality, we just take the word of the game, and so far it hasn't hinted that we were lied to, haha.
The knowledge wasn't immediate! The Tevinter people continued to expect their Old Gods to answer, and slowly turned against an impotent priesthood in the face of silence, so they didn't seem to have any impression it was Dumat at first. I'm guessing it was the Wardens who officially put two and two together? Those in the advanced stages of infection can hear the Archdemon's thoughts, so he may even have identified himself somehow.
Since there's always reactive effects of actually drinking the blood what would happen if someone like Solas, or Corypheus drank some? Better yet, what is Corypheus ingested some arch demon blood? Would he gain untold powers? Become some arch demon demi God hybrid?
So here are my two theories on what would happen to the darkspawn if the archdemons were all killed one they would enter a coma like state having lost their reason to actually exist as their only real goal seems to be find a old god. The second would be a rage state attacking everything that isn’t a darkspawn while doing a death march against the world.
Great video, but you actually got some facts mistaken. During the first blight you said only four thiags survived: Orzammar, Guundar, Hormak, and Kal Sharok. Actually these are the only four kingdoms of the dwarves to survive. So more than 4 thaigs survived the first blight
Probably because the ruse was up and the Magisters brought the taint back to the material world to create Darkspawn that would seek out the old gods bodies. They no longer needed to talk to them anymore.
I remember Hawke's mother that it was their ancestor that killed the Toth. It was the main reason why it was so important for Hawke to gather money to be able to buy back the estate after Gamlen Amell lost it by gambling during the first chapter of Dragon Age 2
(late reply, spoiler space for DA:O and DA2) ... ... ... ... ... It wasn't Toth, it was Urthemiel If you play a human Circle mage in Origins, your characters last name in the game is Amell, which is Hawke's family name. If you import that origin info into DA2, Leandra explains at one point that the Hero of Ferelden was actually one of the children of her cousin. th-cam.com/video/mvz8_1PyVe4/w-d-xo.html
Fifth blight ended so fast cause Ferelden is small kingdom , it would never survive if the blight would continue for years ... Another thing is that , previous blights were spread across Thedas and not focused on one kingdom ... Safe to say Urthemiel did have easy job and he failed at it from military perspective ..
I think so too. I hate that a bunch of fools made a new definition for taint. But taint sounds better for the disease like substance that corrupts while the blight is an event of a topside invasion of darkspawn lead by an archdemon.
This is probably a silly question…But how do Thedas historians know which Old God was the leader of which Blight? Is there some indication? Did the Archdemons announce which Old God they were?? Lol
With what we saw in Origins and realizing that the Fifth Blight only lasted 1 year. How in the HELL did the first Blight not consume the whole world after 192 years?!?!?
Probably the reason The World wasn't entirely corrupted was because,.. during the majority of that 192 Year Blight, the Dwarves suffered the most Losses (Considering they lost Countless Underground Thaigs before the Blight was even Acknowledged on The Surface)... and THEN the Darkspawn Surfaced for the First time, .... and you gotta keep in mind, that they SUCCEEDED in slaying The First Archdemon Dumat, they only failed at PERMANENTLY killing him, THEN they killed him Grey Wardens! So the First Blight was without a Doubt one of the Bloodiest!
Yeah, the First Blight wasn't just focused on the surface, it had just as much civilization to fight in the form of the dwarves as it did the surface people above, so it's really like it was trying to destroy two worlds rather than just one. Plus, it seems each Blight is more concentrated than the last; along with being shorter, each successive Blight affects a smaller area but does more damage to it in that time. You may notice that previous Blight histories include long sieges on major cities and fortresses, yet the forces directed against Denerim (and to a lesser extent Ostagar) were so overwhelming that they bypassed the siege stage entirely. Urthemiel's Blight was such a concentrated tide of destruction that cities would simply be toppled directly rather than besieged, so the only option for the army was to try to form a wedge against the numeric superiority of the horde, isolate Urthemiel, and kill it before the Blight could gain real steam. Conversely, despite the defensive technology being demonstrably weaker back then than now (Cullen points out and then proves that Adamant Fortress is no match for modern siege equipment), Minrathous and Weisshaupt survived for a very long time under siege in the First and Second Blights respectively, implying the Darkspawn horde was simply too thin and spread out hitting so many countries at once for it to be overwhelmingly devastating in any particular place. The First Blight hit the entire continent weakly, the Second hit half the continent stronger, the Third hit the whole Free Marches pretty hard, the Fourth nearly burned Antiva to the ground, and the Fifth stood to lay absolute waste to every city it passed if not for the Hero of Ferelden.
I only honestly hope the last two Old Gods get awoken and tainted in Dragon Age 4, either as a result of stopping Solas or Solas causing the Blight before being stopped
Omg i would looooove to play with a game or DLC which takes place at the time when the magisters broke into the golden city, that would be so interesting to find out what really happened
Because they are not easily accessible as they are deep underground and the grey wardens would have to fight a great number of darkspawn in order to get to them.
My guess is that they don't know where exactly are the remaining old gods and searching for them in the deep roads would take too much time and effort, not to forget that they'll have to fight (nearly) limitless number of darkspawn and they need supply (food, water) and rest :P Also, the GW are subject to the calling and I don't remember in which game it was said exactly (Origins or Inquisition), but the nearer you are to the old god/archdemon, the louder the song will be
Jojisen the deep roads in Origins were one of my favourite part of the game, in DA2 it was lame and in Inquisition it was was good but I was disappointed that we didn't get a broodmother
It's pronounced GO-LEM not GOLL-UM. A Golem is an artificially created creature of clay or stone, based off Jewish mythology. Gollum is the name of Smeagol in Lord of the Rings. They make the same mistake in DAO, it was so annoying.
I wish Bioware would add new things to the world and game without meddling with pre-existing rules and lore. Changing the Darkspawn and regulating certain clothing and armour to a "class" is so fucking stupid.

In ALL SERIOUSNESS THOUGH it's been 2 Games since a SODDING BLIGHT has Occurred and by the stone I DEMAND TO BE A GREY WARDEN in the next Dragon Age! Seriously though i feel like NOT being able to make that choice in Inquisition was MASSIVELY DISAPPOINTING :'(!
James.T .Adams
Still the Darkspawn need to go back to looking less Pale and BLAND :/ (LOREWISE Darkspawn don't Shower lol.....EXCEPT SHOWER IN BLOOD so they shouldn't be pale and spottless to say the least LOL ! They NEED to have a COMPLETE OPEN WORLD and CHANGE THE GAMEPLAY To something similar to Elder Scrolls but KEEP the tactical controls to make BOSSFIGHTS Tactical!
For sure though I feel like cooldown based abilities are Kinda shit (I've only ever played Dragon Age for it's amazing lore and have been PATIENTLY WAITING these past couple DA games for Realistic Combat Mechanics (as they're more immersive rather than Clunky Cooldown Bullshit :)
Alex Lester Just don't have the magic combat of Skyrim.
Amazingly done! Thanks for putting all this together, I'm subbed for life :D
I love watching these they get me caught up on Dragon Age history
.... this channel is dedicate to Dragon Age..?
Marry me.
I love your content, so.... I subscribed. According to Solas, killing the last of the Old Gods could cause something worse. But, that would be entirely up to Bioware.
Are you planning to do a future video of the Blights with spoilerinos on?
I think that darkspawn remain just no more blights
Great video just saw your lore series love it! But on hearing some of those names I thought I was a Legacy of Kain video lol. Some of the names are awfully similar I.E. Razikale sounds similar to Raziel
If the breach of the Golden City by the Magisters was the second sin, what was the first?
Great question! Long story short, the first sin, at least taught by the chantry, is when the humans turned away from the maker and began to worship the old gods. The maker then punished the old gods by imprisoning them underground, and turning his back on Thedas.
Ghil Dirthalen That's kind of petty but then again our Christian god is no different.
Missrena1000 I mean I’d be pretty pissed if I’d worked my ass off to make these intelligent beings and a whole World for them to live in only for them to start praising someone else for it,like “Hello? Yeah, see this? Yeah, everything including the ground you’re standing on? That’s mine, give me some credit ya ungrateful bastards”
@@Missrena1000 he is different he killed almost every living being on the earth for that and will again :v
Speaking of Grey Wardens, why does Solas dislike them? He has banter with Varric about it.
frazzemrat1 He hates them because their method of killing archdemons is so against how he believes it should be done.
We aren't sure what his solution is yet.
@@Manstermash his solution could probably be the same solution morrigan had?
Thanks for ruining the word "taint" for me : (
I thought we did know the one who ended the Third Blight, or is there a difference between the Hero of a Blight and the person who actually killed the Archdemon?
I desperately wanted to delve into the First Blight with Veilguard
I wonder if there is anything important about where each archdemon rose up, might be able to figure out where the last two are hidden.
It affects lyrium and turns it into red lyrium
EpicFiringWar
A blighted titan is...terrifying to imagine
Its possible the blight was a weapon created by one of the Evanuris the female one who goes into the void.
But its unclear why or what purpose it was going to be used for
I’m curious what would happen if the last archdeamon is killed would the darkspawn just stop not moving having no Purpose/ nothing controlling them or would they go on a death walk attacking until they die from Exhaustion?
They could make another dragon age where another blight happens and you have the option of being a regular schmuck or joining the wardens.
Just curious but how did tevinter or anyone know that dumat was dumat? And not just a tainted high dragon
Honest to god, the in-lore answer is basically 'Scholars thought really hard about it'. In reality, we just take the word of the game, and so far it hasn't hinted that we were lied to, haha.
@@GhilDirthalen gotcha 😂 lol been curious about that for a long time
The knowledge wasn't immediate!
The origin of golems and their creator is a very dark and twisted story
thought second blight was 20 years after the first blight?
I think Dumat was the greatest threat to world in dragon age
Lol yeah after 100s of years
Since there's always reactive effects of actually drinking the blood what would happen if someone like Solas, or Corypheus drank some? Better yet, what is Corypheus ingested some arch demon blood? Would he gain untold powers? Become some arch demon demi God hybrid?
Whats the background ambient? It sounds like something from Diablo...
Who was the first Arch demon
Its in the Video
Dumat
What if the Maker was a bastardization of Solas?
So here are my two theories on what would happen to the darkspawn if the archdemons were all killed one they would enter a coma like state having lost their reason to actually exist as their only real goal seems to be find a old god. The second would be a rage state attacking everything that isn’t a darkspawn while doing a death march against the world.
Great video, but you actually got some facts mistaken. During the first blight you said only four thiags survived: Orzammar, Guundar, Hormak, and Kal Sharok. Actually these are the only four kingdoms of the dwarves to survive. So more than 4 thaigs survived the first blight
We need a video over the Elven Gray Warden
Do we know why the Old Gods fell silent after the Magisters breached the Golden City?
Probably because the ruse was up and the Magisters brought the taint back to the material world to create Darkspawn that would seek out the old gods bodies. They no longer needed to talk to them anymore.
I remember Hawke's mother that it was their ancestor that killed the Toth. It was the main reason why it was so important for Hawke to gather money to be able to buy back the estate after Gamlen Amell lost it by gambling during the first chapter of Dragon Age 2
I've completed about 10 playthroughs of DA2 and never heard that :O where does she say it?
(late reply, spoiler space for DA:O and DA2)

It wasn't Toth, it was Urthemiel
If you play a human Circle mage in Origins, your characters last name in the game is Amell, which is Hawke's family name.
If you import that origin info into DA2, Leandra explains at one point that the Hero of Ferelden was actually one of the children of her cousin.
th-cam.com/video/mvz8_1PyVe4/w-d-xo.html
lol who uses the word taint for that
So does that mean there will be 2 more blights before they stop forever?
imagine if its one last blight and two archdemons awaken at the same time. that would be really cool ngl
I think DA:4 will be a double arch demon blight
So is Corypheus' dragon in Inquisition an Old God?
6 months late but no, he is a tainted high dragon.
O.o I had no idea that's the urban definition of taint. Still, they should keep using it for continuity's sake
I think so too. I hate that a bunch of fools made a new definition for taint. But taint sounds better for the disease like substance that corrupts while the blight is an event of a topside invasion of darkspawn lead by an archdemon.
The blight is absolutely awful. Ravaging monsters that can’t be overcome is not a recipe for peace and prosperity.
This is probably a silly question…But how do Thedas historians know which Old God was the leader of which Blight? Is there some indication? Did the Archdemons announce which Old God they were?? Lol
The Wardens at Weisshaupt have a lot of secret information pertaining the Old Gods, they even know exactly where each prison is located
Its bad Im damn near 40 and giggled like a 4 year old at 0:51
So there are 2 Blights left.
lol, not exactly.... Watch her, "The Dread Wolf Rises" Speculation video!
Ya gotta watch out for the taint.
Also, don't care about the Blight, I'm focused on mage-hunting. No apostate is safe!
Happy Dragon Age Day, Dec 4, 2024!
I’d actually to know what your current world is in your world.
This may sound a noob question... What game is this?
10 months late, but, the bulk of the imagery is from Dragon Age: Inquisition, with a few appropriate bits of Dragon Age: Origins thrown in
Dragon Age: Oranges
You know, when playing DA:O I was under impression that it was the 6th Blight
kinda like THE DARKNESS IN DESTINY
Welp now we wield it and it’s god awfully broken
@@shaddaiprejean9899 yep
the taint lmaoooo
5th blight was beaten by my Grey warden. Mages were got more freedom and Alistair is king. That was my choses. Great game, i did enjoy in it.
NO UVE GOTTEN THE TAINT
why don't the grey wardens find and protect the old gods from the dark-spawn
Because they are not easily accessible as they are deep underground and the grey wardens would have to fight a great number of darkspawn in order to get to them.
My guess is that they don't know where exactly are the remaining old gods and searching for them in the deep roads would take too much time and effort, not to forget that they'll have to fight (nearly) limitless number of darkspawn and they need supply (food, water) and rest :P
Also, the GW are subject to the calling and I don't remember in which game it was said exactly (Origins or Inquisition), but the nearer you are to the old god/archdemon, the louder the song will be
That would be an amazing dungeon crawler though
Jojisen the deep roads in Origins were one of my favourite part of the game, in DA2 it was lame and in Inquisition it was was good but I was disappointed that we didn't get a broodmother
Zyad Hakmi the deep roads were so long in Origins and repeated itself too much.
if you could talk a bit slower it would really help us non-native English speakers to understand you
A
It's pronounced
GO-LEM not GOLL-UM.
A Golem is an artificially created creature of clay or stone, based off Jewish mythology.
Gollum is the name of Smeagol in Lord of the Rings.
They make the same mistake in DAO, it was so annoying.
If you do a LORE video and say NO spoiler then it's not a LORE video ... not a complete one :(
ññ
Dwarves being pronounced as "dorves" really throws me off :/
I wish Bioware would add new things to the world and game without meddling with pre-existing rules and lore. Changing the Darkspawn and regulating certain clothing and armour to a "class" is so fucking stupid.
