Epiphone Les Paul Standard Plus Top Pro compared to Gibson Jimmy Page LP Review tonymckenziecom

  • Just how good is the Epiphone Standard Plus Top Pro? Gibson Jimmy Page good? Here I compare the two physically and with three tracks of audio. Is the Epiphone changing Gibson guitars forever and are those Far East guitars as good as a real Gibson? Find out in this very close up review.
    I decided to show just how good or bad the Chinese Epiphone branded guitars really are (but not the cheap Chinese counterfeits or rubbish models). I loaned this guitar from a friend (Jamie Lee Jones) and carried out pretty extensive tests just to see exactly where that difference might lie between a $700 Epiphone and a $7000 Gibson Jimmy Page Les Paul from 1995.
    Can you see it? Can you hear it? some guys will say the Gibson is better and some will say the Epiphone is 'better' whatever that means. Of course I can't show how it feels between the two, but watch the playing and I guess it will speak for itself which guitar has 'that feel and tone' of the two.

    Hi Mr M. Great playing. It's sort of close isn't it? At least via mp4. Neck notwithstanding, was the action set up to your standards?

    • @tonymckenziecom
      @tonymckenziecom  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      It is in the same area of course. Both guitars have Gibson pickups... although different models.
      However, watch again and you can see firstly that the sustain on the JP is much longer and 'it almost played itself' and the tone was different. The Epiphone was very good for that money there is no doubt. The Gibson's 'feel' and that JPLP neck (after I had watched the videos) had a noticeable effect on the playing too I felt which was smoother overall than the Epiphone playing. But none of that is a criticism of the Epiphone.
      One surprise was that they took the time on the Epiphone to actually veneer the back of the guitar with mahogany veneer which at first sight suggested a one piece body. I saw it had actually four pieces to it. It's clear to see where the costs were cut between the two. The other guitar I have that is even closer to the Gibson is a Tokai Love Rock Q something or other from the early 2000's made in Japan - and as I would partly on the Epiphone I had so substantially upgrade the pickups (to Bare Knuckle Mules) and the electrics, tuners and bridge to get in the same sort of area. Basically the Epiphone as supplied was BETTER than the Japanese Tokai for tuners and pickups. Unfortunately for the Tokai once I had completed all of that work and cost I could have bought a Gibson anyway (had I bought the Tokai for list price well over £1300 or $1900). Happily, I got the Tokai for just £400 (or $550) so that remains in my collection as a very good players guitar.
      Jamie (the owner of the Epiphone) is learning guitar and the Epiphone is priced IMO exactly right so guitarists that need a good quality instrument can afford them that will not make them sell it and give up... now THATS a great reason to make Epiphone guitars.
      Thanks for watching.

      The Epiphones I have tried are worth the money. There is a difference and when you play both like I did it becomes obvious. Both were good, but the JP was actually more inspiring to me as I played and it 'felt' different to play too. If you go back and watch the playing and compare it on both guitars, you should notice that my playing was better on the JP. But there is no doubt that for the money the Epiphone was a very good guitar. You should check it and see for yourself. Thanks for watching.

What's left? little to nothing in the area and it will all become the dreaded mail order internet syndrome which has taken already so many great stores and is gnawing away right now. Sad really. Ha once you try an Epiphone LP it strikes home how good they are... and far better than some of the junk out there I could name.

    Hey Tony, sweet video! Yes, of course I liked the fancy video in video magic! I always like close up shots, mainly because I'm old and blind!
    I love Epiphone! My all time favorite guitar is my Casino! My sons bought me an Epiphone LP jr for Christmas, mine has the single humbucker, and I love that cheeky guitar!
    As for the people squawking about saddles being "backwards" you turn them around if you need a few more millimeters to get a string intonated! One end of each saddle has a 90 degree flat edge, the other has an angle, maybe 45 degree, and by flipping them around to the flat end, you get those extra few millimeters to move, and that makes a big difference sometimes.
    Armatures! or as me old grandpap would say "armchairs" ;)
    OH, I started a project Tony! I'm going to record some of my favorite classic rock songs, and I put together a web page where I'm gonna post them when they're done.
    Right now I have a rough copy of Desperado, which has my vocal on the same track that all the instruments were bounced on. So I couldn't get a good mix, because I can't separate the vocal because I foolishly recorded it on the same track!
    So....I'm going to start over, and this time one track for lead vocal, one track for harmonies, and a couple of track for the instruments...sigh
    Anyway, you can have a listen to it as it is now, and over the next few days I'll be working on it and I will get a full, properly mixed recording of this song posted as soon as I can!
    Then I'm shooting to record and post one complete song per week at a minimum, until I have ten to fifteen.

      Good to hear you Mr Bronzesnake. Ha it was Video Pro X :). I have not really tried a Casino but I trust that what you say is correct... I'm sure it is!. Great answer for the 'reversed saddles... I did not mention why but you did so thanks for that.. Amateurs :) we both know the world is full of experts... and every one of those guys were destined to 'say something... anything!' so I just let them until I can't take any more of them, then they visit a line of guys that are banned. Sometimes they can be nasty but honestly, they go quiet when banned :)
      Oh yeah, good for you on your recordings and that's why we're musicians right... to play the guitar and see our results. I'm generally reasonable on the videos, but when I record I work at that until its perfect... and you have my sympathy about recordings that have problems... I have been there over the years a lot.. it's worst when you get something down in a way that you think you could never do, but then there's some technical issue later. I kick myself when I do that.
      Yep, that's the only way, get it right on each track before you move on, make sure there are no red outs etc. (my friend Alan Bruce can tell you about them :) then mix to perfection. These days I also run finals through Izotope 8 which is an incredible program for finalising audio for release if you are going to do that.
      Thanks for the link... and I'll check it... but be careful now... :) the eyes of the world are on you :) guys will go and look!
      Thanks for the kind words on this video, I liked making this one and am now back to making videos after a really bad chesty thing that put me out for many weeks.
      Jack... its always an honour to have you watch. Thanks.

    • @tonymckenziecom
      @tonymckenziecom  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      You are right about those guys in general. I don't really see the point. I have moved on somewhat of recent times and here in the UK they call them 'millennial meltdowns' or 'snowflakes' because they simply melt down at anything that they either don't like or just want to melt down over anything that takes their fancy :) Snowflakes is a good descriptor, because with the 'Millennial Meltdowns' it does not describe older people :) but still younger than the older guys... if you get what I mean.
      I see them all the time and hear them too but not too much on here. To me, it is reflective of (some) the younger or maybe middle aged mentality but I guess not restricted to those.
      I have never minded 'constructive' criticism, but for example on a subject like 'Chinese copy or counterfeit guitars' some of them try and suggest that copying others rights is OK somehow, when clearly it is not. Then you get the brigade that insists that the Chinese copy is better than the real deal.... that alone says a lot. Or the guys that want to gain viewers from things like 'Gibson goes bust next week' sort of stuff.
      You know what, I hate to see people berating a company like Gibson. Every maker sells some guitars that are not perfect... but you don't hear those guys talking about the other makers. It's truly sad and from my experience totally unfounded.
      Anyway enough of that and that thing about the guy deleting his channel of 9 years... wow, the losers of course are the viewers that wanted the channel to be there. Indeed I have currently 233 videos covering probably every aspect of guitars and I would hate to add up the hours and money I have spent on making those assets. I have currently over 36 million minutes of viewing to date and if I did monetise my channel I would have made good money... but I don't because I don't feel that it would help me to remain unbiased making money from viewers. The negative of course, is that because I don't operate a monetised channel I get no support for problems from TH-cam - even with those 233 videos. I think that is wrong. My channel clearly has loads of guys that come to TH-cam to see my videos but no support :( and I've had an email support issue for well over 15-18 months currently.
      There are many aspects to running a channel of course, but I tend to believe that most of the viewers I have are genuine and decent guys and its just the very small minority that are antagonistic.
      See I can rant too :) But I do try and keep my sensible head on and I tend to more often than not, if it's just hearsay they base their comments on then I tell them so.
      regards... T.

      The bronchitis did not get the better of me :) but it was really hard to shake this time. The JP is actually my favourite Gibson guitar that I own and it at one time was the main guitar back in the 90's when I was in bands... but today it's increased in price so I'm pretty careful with it.
      The Epiphone was very good especially for that price and if I was back in a band I would get one of those as a knock around to save the Gibsons.

      Jamal Kareem Hey mate, as a fellow lefty I feel your pain! I tried a 4k custom Gibson LP and the pots worked like on/off switches, after that I couldn’t ever justify paying them so much when they can’t be bothered to buy some reverse tapered pots for us lefties.
      How are the volume and tone pots on your plustop? I checked with a store and they said they are linear so I guess they roll off gradually, would appreciate your input as I’m going to get one of these and change the hardware.

    Both sound great. I've owned Gibbies and Epis, and I can say that Gibsons have a certain x-factor about them that makes playing them feel better. Maybe its the solid 1-piece body (and neck), maybe its the nitro finish, maybe somehow it's the more tilted headstock, or maybe its all of it but Gibsons tend to "give back" more in terms of how they feel and sustain. All that being said, Epiphones get you surprisingly very close to all that for what they cost. I've gigged with Epiphones and got no complaints.
    Speaking of nitro finishes, it can't be understated how much that type of lacquer drives the price up along with the other features. To apply nitro, you need a special dedicated facility with all kinds of environmental and safety compliance measures; with poly, you just slather it on. So its no wonder Gibsons cost what they do.

    • @tonymckenziecom
      @tonymckenziecom  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I can agree with you, there is a difference that I can only describe as the 'feel' when playing the Gibson. I took each guitar and tried to treat them exactly the same with playing, but when I was using the Gibson that feel (and a slight tone difference but not much) inspired me to play better than with the Epiphone. I liked the Epiphone so much that later after giving this one back to a work mate, I went and bought one. There is no doubt that for the £399.00 I paid for one of these that they are a very good guitar. It is rather heavier than the Gibson.
      I agree re the H&S angle, but more often than not in China things are different. I don't understand why China is not walloping Nitro on the Epiphone. H&S out the window :) I too know also of the preparation before the nitro goes on is really critical - so maybe its a time thing.
      Good points and thanks for watching.

    Nice video. I was curious if the Epiphone ever had a proper set up ? I know sometimes the cheaper guitars can come rather difficult to play with higher action and more gritty fret board, but with a great set up can play much better. I own a 91 gibson LP 1960s reissue which looks very much like your JP, and it plays like butter. I bought a vintage brand V100 and it had a pretty high action out of the box but after a set up it plays much better.

    • @tonymckenziecom
      @tonymckenziecom  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Epiphone WAS set up by the dealer before delivery and I believe 9's were fitted if I remember correctly. It was not my guitar but I know the owner very well. I guess like everything you get what you pay for but the setup is not too hard to do and increases the guitars playability. Thanks for watching.

    The flamed maple on the Epiphone is a veneer right? It has to be for that price I guess.

    • @tonymckenziecom
      @tonymckenziecom  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes it is. The scary thing I thought was the veneer on the back of mahogany to hide the composite 4 piece body! You don't notice it until you really look. But its a good guitar for the money you pay of that there's no doubt. I liked Jamie's case too for about £40-45 ($60). Thanks for watching.

      Generally my guitars (Les Pauls and derivatives) do not have pick guards on them. In the case of the Jimmy Page it was removed because there's a JP signature in gold that was wearing off. Its in the case to protect the guitar pickguard from wear. But as far as actual playing goes I don't care if its there or not. Thanks...

    Nice video. I have been a strong advocate for the 90s page les Paul’s for years. Mine is one the best guitars in my collection. Recording wise they really set themselves apart and I think when you compare them to any guitar - even in their class, they seem to have just a little more something.

      Great to know you have one. I did at one stage get 'loaned' one of these that was made a couple of years after mine... I was shocked at how it was finished. The sunburst was a 'thick' line around the edge of the guitar and compared to my own honestly it was not good. I was glad to see that one go back. I think the secret is in the neck - best neck I have... thanks...

      The guitar in 1996 (when I bought mine) was a street price of £2800 (at that time about $3800 or more). List price was high. The JPLP was a lot more expensive than the regular guitars from Gibson - at least here in the UK I believe. Many don't like the JPLP (basically because there were later 5 x more expensive ones!) but if you have everything with it and a decent looking top etc. here they can go for towards £5500 to £6000 and maybe similar in the USA... but there is a difference there than here re price... always costs more here because of the tax... (currently 20% on top). There is not doubt that the guitar has 'held its own' and some will contest it and say ah but with inflation etc. But they forget one thing.... I used it since 1996 for free! Think of it like that. Thanks...

      Yes I liked this Epiphone a lot and it is substantially better than the el cheapo stuff I see out there and have had some experience with. In fact when I gave this Epiphone back I did actually buy a similar one for just £399.00 ($525) which is a great price for a guitar like that. There IS a difference between these two guitars in tone and more so in the 'feel' of the guitar and how it can inspire you to play. IMO the Gibson is a better guitar, but don't hold that against Epiphone - I can recommend those without even wondering about the guitars quality and I have reviewed a few off and on. Great value and just about as low down the guitar chain for the price where you are pretty much guaranteed a guitar that plays as it should. Thanks for watching.

  • @jimmyjimmy951
    @jimmyjimmy951 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Tony, nice job in the comparison and sound demo.
    For me the JPLP sounded raw and left the ELP sounding a little sanitised which could just be the pickups. My Guess is that that most would buy based on budget and be happy either way with the overall sound and tone. Most (if honest with themselves) would buy a genuine GLP if money was no object, but most don’t have that choice.
    I am lucky enough to own both and can say the ELP is a great guitar that gets a fair run at her play time (For the record I can’t do either of them real justice). I can will say based on experience, think twice about buying for the name and quality as the difference may not be as great as you expect!
    Nice work.

    • @tonymckenziecom
      @tonymckenziecom  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the comment Jimmx. The ELP was a really nice guitar for what it costs there is no doubt about that. In fact just a week ago I bought one of these for my own use more as a 'knock around' in the studio. And for me that's an important aspect... I don't want to damage the expensive guitars so I use one of the ELP's. To me there is a difference, but as you say it is relative to the musician and whether he values the guitar accordingly. On these two, the neck on the real deal was far different than the ELP which was for me a pretty important feature, but there's no doubt the ELP performed pretty well. Thanks for watching and for your info.

    Thanks for the review Tony, being on a limited budget and not being the greatest player I'm a fan of epiphone guitars and I've owned a few over the years. From my experience the models coming out of the Gibson epiphone factory since 2014 are way above previous models in tone, finish and build quality either that or I've been very lucky with the selections I've made and the upgraded Pro pickups really push these models past their competitors. The cheap copy's and fakes don't have anything like the sort of quality components on the epiphone guitars.

      The Epi is good for that money and that's the target audience I guess it was made for - guys that don't want (or can't afford) a JPLP or other Gibson. I liked this review as it does show the differences in tones and playability - notice the Gibson was being played with a different feel to things - you can see that in my playing. Re tones NOTHING was changed except the guitars not even the lead :) so I think this is a pretty good example video of the differences. The playability was really quite different between them and if I was a pro guitarist the Gibson would be the choice, but for bedroom, pub and bar etc. the Epi works. Thanks for watching.

      clearly hear a difference... lol.. they sounded identical.. i think your eyes can hear the difference more than anything.. save yourself 3000 dollars and buy the epi.... amps and fingers make 99% of the sound coming out of a guitar. unless you have dirt cheap pickups.... if you think any different then you have a hearing problem...

    • @tonymckenziecom
      @tonymckenziecom  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Actually I did point out that there is a difference and I was playing both of them. There are two differences from a players point of view. Firstly the tone between the two and secondly there was a clearly different feel to the playing between the two also. I would describe the different feel like something that could inspire me to play 'better' especially if improvising lead guitar (don't we all?). There is one other difference to and one which you did not mention that I will. The Epiphone on a good day is worth used about £300 ($400) and the Gibson Jimmy Page (this one) is worth around $6000. That's not really the point though. The point is, that the Gibson cost me about $3000 when I bought it and now they are typical at about $6K. So, taking everything in to account even if the sound and feel were 'the same' just buying the Epiphone (nothing wrong with the guitar) would have actually cost me about $3000 and its something you failed to mention. Nothing to do with hearing I'm afraid, but to do with hard nosed cash gain. Personally I know which one I prefer ;-) Actually good points you raised and thanks for that... gave me something to do as a reply. Thanks.

    I had a REAL Gibson Les Paul Deluxe back in the 90's but the neck had an uneven seam running along the entire back length that always bothered me. I was somewhat disappointed in the lack of Gibson's quality control, but I couldn't pass it up because I got it at a great price from a friend who was in dire straits and needed the money. Every shop wanted a small fortune to replace the neck so that never happened. I sold it and moved on to a Strat.

    I think that the Epi sounds great. Buy 5 Epiphones, swap out the nuts, Pups, Pots and Caps if you feel you must, I did on mine, its a fine instrument. And of course the JP is fantastic as well but I think you can see and hear the law of diminishing returns here in this video.

    • @tonymckenziecom
      @tonymckenziecom  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Indeed the Epiphone performed well against the Gibson. And sure you can change the parts out as you suggested. I did that on a Tokai here: th-cam.com/video/bg4buTRVaYw/w-d-xo.html and had a contest to see if guys could tell it was not a Gibson so to speak. Actually the Epi in this review was not mine, but I have been out since and bought one for the pittance it actually costs (mine was £399 or $600 including tax).
      Overall though, the one thing that never can be heard in the true sense is the 'feel' of the guitar. I have said this before to others - you will notice that I tended to play 'better' with the Gibson. That was not for any old reason. To me, the Gibson and it's feel and tone equated to better inspiration when I played the video... at the time unconsciously, but later when I compared the two I could see the difference in my playing.
      But no doubt the Epiphones are great for the money and recommended. Thanks for watching.

    If you can get a hold of the epiphone tribute plus, i think it would be a closer match in terms of construction. The standard pro plustop does not have a carved hard maple cap, only a veneer. the tribute plus does have it. and it comes with Gibson 57 classics pickups. I think that should be a better match although i have no doubt the jimmy page is gonna win again.

    • @tonymckenziecom
      @tonymckenziecom  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      See... I learn from you guys too :) That was a point I bet many guys did not know either... solid non veneer on the Epiphone tribute... Ha the JP is a very good guitar though and losing to that is not really losing :) Thanks for watching.

    • @reezalguy
      @reezalguy 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Uhh the tribute plus also uses a veneer just like the standard plustop pro but underneath the tribute plus, there is an addition of a hard carved maple cap. The standard plustop pro does not have a hard maple cap underneath, just a maple veneer on a carved mahogany body, at least for the ones that are currently in production from china. Im sure there are variations if were talking about some old epiphone's from korea or some other asian country.

    • @tonymckenziecom
      @tonymckenziecom  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have seen the maple with veneer over the nondescript maple and that seems to be a Far East trait. I was a little surprised when you said... but not even a maple cap on some is then misleading buyers - they should know better.

    • @reezalguy
      @reezalguy 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Im not sure if they are intentionally misleading people too as certain products are only meant to be sold for certain markets like signature guitars for Asian guitarists(theres only 1 guy as far as i know). They probably prioritize the US, UK, Canada, Australia etc with the better ones as these countries can usually afford to pay a little more/cost a bit less to sell to these countries.

    Note for note the Gibson is much better, id think with the same pickups they would be closer. The Epi will never sound the same because of the finish
    on the Gibson, they just have that sound.

    • @tonymckenziecom
      @tonymckenziecom  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      It 'feels' better when you play the Gibson. Also the Gibson is a 1995 vintage that will contribute to tones but maybe not as much as some might suggest. Yes likely the pickups would improve the Epiphone I also agree with that. But overall a good guitar for the money. Thanks for watching.

      Good pickups make a huge, huge difference.

      Coughepiphonecough.
      But Epiphones are very good guitars.
      But there’s a difference.
      There really is.

    • @tonymckenziecom
      @tonymckenziecom  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes I agree there is for sure. I tried very hard to actually show a difference and not just in the instrument itself and how they are made, but in the tones - the playability was substantially better on the Gibson... but it should be for that money. I checked the pickups which are ProBucker-2 they say... not to be confused with Burst Bucker 2's so I got that wrong before. I'm not entirely convinced the pickups are actually made by Gibson... but they may be made to Gibson specifications...

    Unless your a professional musician, the Epiphany Standard pro plus really are fantastic guitars for the money and maybe the closest you can get to a nice Gibson Les Paul and if you choose to change out pickups for higher end ones you can't go wrong whether recording or just playing with backing tracks and yes even gigging with....

    No doubt that the Gibson Page model is better. Nevertheless, being that most people don’t gig and would have to either save up a few checks or enslave them selves to debt and interest rates... and this is just my opinion, I would have to say that the epiphone is more than good enough. I own a 2 Gibson Les Pauls, 2010 Deluxe and a 59 junior Reissue. My dream guitar is a Gibson es 335 but I’m not going to spend 3k plus on a guitar at the moment, especially Since I’m still ok grad school, so I’m going to get an epiphone Es until I can afford to buy a Gibson without going into debt. Cool review

      Nothing wrong with the Epiphone and I thought it was a pretty good guitar - indeed, last week I bought one for knocking around in the studio. Yes you're right, NEVER get burdened with debt - its better to save and wait for your career to finance what you want. I have been there and I distinctly remember when I was 19 taking a car back to a dealer and handing him the keys saying 'please take this, pay it off and keep it'. He did. I never forgot that lesson and I would never go back to it or recommend to do that. Trust me, you'll end up with what you want in other ways. Thanks for watching.

    Gibsons are pricey. With one of these Epiphones, a good set of Bare Knuckle or Duncan pickups, maybe some Bourns pots, and a good low watt tube amp like a Victory BD-1, I imagine the average bedroom/bar player would be extremely happy. The only thing about the JPLP, when it first came out I couldn't imagine why Gibson would put a ceramic pickup in it. Whatever works, I guess.

    • @tonymckenziecom
      @tonymckenziecom  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I did that on a Tokai guitar... a Japanese one and the result is really good. There's nothing wrong with doing that of course but even after the mods there is still a difference when I play the JP or the Tokai... and doing it to an Epiphone would save money over the Tokai but the Tokai has almost exacting same sized components whereas Epi does not. Gibson is expensive of course, but I paid a great price for the JP at the time and to be honest it plays better than any other LP I have. The JP pickups I found to be very good sounding though... and better than the BNP's I have in the Tokai... but it's all subjective and what I like others might not. Ha they work with any good tube amp for sure. Thanks for watching.

      Hi, well interestingly in this video I used the TSL100, the HX effects for effects, a regular cry baby and a AKG mic in to the desk. Both guitars were set up very similarly, but you will notice (at least I did) that the JPLP had more 'flow' in the playing (disregarding bum notes of course) and it did sustain very noticeably longer than the Epiphone. The tones were different as well. But for me that JPLP neck and likely the pickups are why I think that a pro guitarist might well choose the Gibson guitar. For everyday everything else the Epiphone fared very well for that price. Thanks for watching.

    THERE IS ONE MAJOR DIFFERENCE BETWEEN ALL EPI AND GIBSON. I do not understand why they have done a very strange thing for Epiphone.
    Its bridge is about 0.5cm farther from the bridge pickup than in Gibson. Why this is not nobody else noticed.
    I think it's deliberately made to make it sound a bit crap. Otherwise everyone would buy Epiphone. All other dimensions are the same.

  • @AndrewKozley
    @AndrewKozley 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Yep. Once again made that clear for myself that tons of expensive and super cool gear doesn't necessarily make you a great musician and a Rock Star Guitar God. Well I'm pretty sure if Jeff Beck pick's up a super cheap chinese crap made of plastic it'll be sound amazing. And if you'll give a $350 000 1959 Les Paul to a kid, who started to play 'bout a week ago - it will sound like a piece of dog poopoo

    • @tonymckenziecom
      @tonymckenziecom  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well, the way I look at things these days is that you don't have to be a rock god… those days are long gone. What really matters in life is that whoever plays the guitar that they want (having worked hard to get the money to buy it) and loves to do that with their time is exactly why they can have any guitar/amp or anything else that they want. Remember this, not everyone wants to be a 'rock god'.
      So from my years on earth so far, that is the sum of what I have learned. Enjoy the gear and making music whether its a cheap piece of cr*p or a $350,000 1959 Les Paul you are using - as long as you like it then that's the gear for you.
      Getting tangled up in theories about gear actually is pretty irrelevant in the overall scene of things. Thanks.

      Ah good to know. Tell me what you like the best about it and were there any problems?
