Thank you for this video. Right now i'm in my last year of Digital Marketing for my bachelor's degree, which i follow in Amsterdam. I also followed a Minor in Marketing Data Analytics, which can be a bridge towards a 1 year Master for Digital Driven Business (meaning Data science, analysis, consultant or manager). I plan on taking on this Master and testing myself. I like learning about new tech and advancements, i like a flexible lifestyle, and ofcourse good pay haha (who wouldn't love that).
Please the following questions..Thank for the channel: 1) Can a data scientist be self employed? 2) What type of industries does a data scientist work in? Only banks and only big companies? Dso you think a small family owneds company would ever need a data scientist? Thank you.
1) Yes you can be a free lance data scientist! 2) Any industry pretty much, but you need data and loads of it for them to be useful. So a small family owned business may need one, but it is probably unlikely. Hope this helps!
I'm a student studying computer science engineering at the University and every time I'm asked what I want to be in life, I Usually say "data scientist". Honestly that wasn't the career I had in mind while entering the university. In fact, I didn't know which career I should persue. It's only after my first year ended, that I realized how much I love Maths and statistics. And upon investigation in career fields that combine both maths and computer science, I found data science and I decided to give it a trial. I equally love learning and I manage to code though I'm not that good at it😅 Just to say that I would really love to be a data scientist 😃
As an ML graduate can you tell me the difference between working as a Data Scientist and Machine learning engineer? I see that you guys too create ML models but then what does ML engineer do? Specialize in just creating models?
That's a great question! Naturally there is quite a bit of overlap, but let me break it down. Data Scientist is quite a vague term still, so a DS at one company may only be doing analytics and another will be doing analytics and ML. If we assume we are a DS who does ML, our job is mainly to look for areas to improve the model using our mathematical knowledge of the algorithms and data. We can then test our ideas and see if they indeed do improve the model. ML Engineers are the middle-men who understand ML and the software engineering side on how to deploy ML algorithms in real time. They may not always be developing and improve algorithms, but they know how they work and they understand things like AWS really well to deploy the algorithms. There is obvious overlap, ML engineers can also build models and I as a data scientist have also deployed models before (even though my title is data scientist). It's really company dependent, so the job description is what matters more than the title. However, ML Engineers will do some form of ML (in the name), but not all data science roles will contain ML. Hope this makes sense?
as a teenager i want to become a data scientist cuz its interesting and ngl the money too but idk about continously learning although the school i go to is known for giving loads of work so idk if it will be too hard+ doing the same thing year after year can get really boring and testing new things all the time is interesting but im not the biggest math fan although i really like coding but i have social anxiety so i have to become an active speaker although im good at speeches so only time will tell
Thank you for your video. I work with State Farm and majority of positions I see needing to be filled are Analyst roles. I have been thinking of transitioning into tech for some time and can see how data heavy insurance is, let alone at the largest insurer in the U.S.
Damn this sounds a lot more complicated than I thought. I was thinking it's mostly organizing data in excel or glueing stuff together, writing some python scripts to group and transform some data. I also expected it to be more lonely. Like sitting through an 8 hour shift completely alone at home and having to talk to someone maybe twice a week or something. Im definitely disapointed but will continue researching.
Great video, I'd be curious to hear what you think about the future of data science job availability with the continuing increase in quality of AI, will it create more data science jobs? Will it displace more jobs? Will it change the jobs?
Should be said that there is still no clear defintion of Data Science yet. It might vary from job to job and field to field. Nevertheless this might be interesting seeing ONE EXAMPLE. Congrats! Main languages are Python and SQL. Just enjoy Uni and focus on the course. Try and get internships in the summer if you can!
Can you be a data scientist if you’re not the greatest at math?
I am starting to really enjoy this field and like it seems pretty interesting but I’m not that good at math and am really good at computing and coding so i was wandering?
It depends what you mean by “not great”. You don’t need to be PhD level, but you should have basic proficiency in calculus, linear algebra and stats.
I mainly write sql. cant imagine forecasting the entire day, how is that even possible, someone feeds you data with a spoon?
I don't understand your question?
Plz recommend books and videos for python and statistics
Hey, I have done several previous videos on these topics:

- Stats th-cam.com/video/JKmiYI2tamE/w-d-xo.html
Do you think Data Science can be freelanced. I am a Data Analyst in India looking to transtion into Data Science. I want to be independent, what are your views on this, as we have AI taking over automation?
Hey, many data scientist are freelanced! And no, don't worry about AI.
I'm doing Mathematics and Statistical science, then I'll do honors in data science ,do you think this is a good route to be a data scientist?
Yeah defo! I would argue you may not need the further degree in data science, but it will certainly help!
i am forty now being physics teacher can i switch to this field i have a good knowledge of physics maths and statistics kindly guide me
Yes you can!
Great Video! I have a question though.
does data science have high freelancing opportunities ? ( for example working as a data scientist on upwork)
Yes it does! Although I haven't got much experience in this area :)
Will ai take over data scientist jobs? I am in 10th grade rn and I really want to become one
Hey, I answered this question in my 5k q and a: th-cam.com/video/5Wj09PbeUWU/w-d-xo.html
Nice video 💯
Is there a chance for a self taught Data scientist?
of course! I am a self taught data scientist!
Wow. Bravo and thanks 👍
no problem, good luck!
Hi I am planning on studying biology and then do a masters in data science. Can I still work for industries even if I only did data science for my masters?
ofc! its more the skills that matter tbh. Background eduction does play a slight role, but you should be fine for the majority of positions with a masters in DS.
its possible to shift from biology to data science ? they're not related
yeah ofc, people come from so many backgrounds!
@@egorhowell how tho? I noticed many universities require you a bachelor's degree from cs or related field to get into a data science masters program, its a huge shift from biology to data science, unless you restart from scratch and redo a bachelor's in data science no? If there's something i don't know about I'd like to know
not all universities require it from my experience. I feel the very top will prefer stem, but other will take you with biology as long as you have good numeracy and maths skills.
Hi may i ask that can data science help in part of cayber security?
Sure it can, although I have no experience in that space :)
Thank you dear 😊😊😊
No problem 😊
Can commerce with no math background..can be data scientist?
I’m sorry I don’t understand your question, could you please expand?
@@egorhowell I have completed by commerce and accountancy degree. And now if I do online courses related to data science...can I become a data scientist?
I mean technically yes, there is no reason why not! Although it may take a while longer to someone who has a background in a STEM subject :)
We would really appreciate an English subtitle ,
Love 🥰🥰
haha there is some!
I'm just 14 and doing research on being a data scientist so.......yah
amazing, good luck!
As i am fresher, how I become like u become data scientist?
Hey, check out my previous video: m.th-cam.com/video/UF7C3HoT4k0/w-d-xo.html
i am not that intrested in coding but i really enjoy maths and stats. can i pursue data science
Of course! But you inevitability need to learn to code, because its a requirement of the job :)
Very nice bro
thank you!
Is it possible to work as a data scientist remotely?
Yes, a lot of companies offer remote work !
Data science is best in future or Acca??
Plz reply
hey do you mean the accountancy qualification? These are two separate careers you are describing, so it depends which one you are interested in more!
What degree do data scientists need?
Check out my previous video: th-cam.com/video/di65_OCkfTE/w-d-xo.html
Thanks
I want to be a data scientist
Good luck!
ru paid weekly or mothly and how much
monthly salary, unfortunately i cant disclose the amount
What are good books you recommend for recommendation systems ?
Hey, I am not an expert myself, but I have heard good things about this one: www.amazon.co.uk/Recommender-Systems-Textbook-Charu-Aggarwal/dp/3319296574
I have started a bootcamp for data analytics could you please help with good books and videos for python and statistics
Hey, I have done several previous videos on these topics with my book and video recommendations.

Welcome
My mom would rather let me be this than a doctor 😂
haha
Data Scientist used to be hot. Now ML/AI specialist is hotter.
indeed!
