    Whats up? Well I'm a PhD in nuclear physicist and I change my carrer to data science a little over six months ago. I was expecting a lot of propgramming and machine learning models, but it turned out to be 95% data cleaning, data analysis and visualization.
    Nice video, thank you!

    I’ve watched my fair share of “day in the life” videos on TH-cam, and generally don’t EVER click on them anymore. But this one came up after a long time, and I’m currently training to be a data analyst. BOY AM I GLAD I CLICKED ON THIS ONE. An absolutely downright amazing well expressed well structured video FULL of useful actual day in the life information. Excellent, really really helpful.
    Just wondering, as you seem to be quite experienced in this field, would you happen to have any tips for a budding data analysis freelancer?? Are there significant opportunities both in terms of volume as well as price? Is data analysis a good field to freelance in? I love tech and I love solving problems, thinking analytically and finding patterns, connections and the like, so I decided to jump in to make a mid-career switch. Would really appreciate your input and guidance!

      @@candidlyvivian yeah this is my fear too. I don’t live in developing world, and there’s no way I’ll be able to bid at those rates they do, as they can still make living wage at those prices due to currency rate differences. I decided not to go down the web dev path because that’s REALLY saturated online and a serious race to the bottom.
      What about the option of opening a solo “agency” and going down the more established and traditional marketing routes to get clients? In your decades of experience, are most of the deliverables that come your way reasonably handled by a single worker?

    Hi!
    I am a highschool student in Canada and your videos have been so inspiring and informational! I just wanted to ask, do you think a person has to be really good with Math/numbers to be successful in Data Science? If you don't mind, would you maybe consider making a video outlining what type of highschool student you were, or what would be the ideal highschool experience for an aspiring data scientist?
    Thank you, I really love the channel a lot!

    • @candidlyvivian
      @candidlyvivian  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Hi Harman! Thank you for watching and I’m glad my videos are helping you 🙂
      I honestly wouldn’t say you need to be that good with maths they teach in school.
      Data science / analytics is more about wanting to solve business problems (using data) 🕵️
      I did always like numbers + was good at maths growing up but it’s definitely not a prerequisite. I also did a maths degree except I don’t use any of the theoretical stuff we learnt in my job.
      What’s more important is critical thinking + problem solving, and being able to convert business questions into data problems ☺️
      I would recommend taking any computer science / information system courses if you can! I wish I did some of that instead of maths at university. The only maths I use quite often is probably statistics - mean / mode / distributions + sample size hypothesis testing.
      And that is a great video suggestion - I am scripting out my career journey into data science where I chat through my schooling experience + struggles, so pls stay tuned for that 🙂

    If no code tools are not the threats, what about offshoring? I got made redundant recently as my role was sent to India. The lesson I've learnt is that you shouldn't get comfortable in a BAU role where you job is just to run a predefined process. You need to be doing the high value-add work.

    • @candidlyvivian
      @candidlyvivian  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      i'm sorry to hear - that sucks. and yes definitely good advice to always be doing high value add work. I once had a colleague tell me he always wanted to remain a "key person risk" so that he was critical to the team.

      @@candidlyvivian hmmm, one of my coworkers who had achieved 99.9 ATAR was like that. It's a strange phenomenon. When you are growing your career, being the only person to know a task means that you wont' be able to move up! So train your people well. But don't fall into the trap of doing monotonous and repetitive work.

    Been studying sql and making initial projects for hopeful data analyst role. What I love about your video is you connect sql to the actual job with examples. Learning with fake data makes it hard to understand real world purposes. Even the quick snippet about clicks on a website becoming data to analyze was truly helpful. I ignorantly have taken a long time to understand where the data being analyzed actually comes from. Very educational video, truly can't thank you enough.

      @@candidlyvivian In India, Data Science is a relatively new field, especially as a university degree. Many people are learning data science skills from different backgrounds, including mechanical engineering, without having a specific degree in the subject. However, I’ve observed that when companies complete their projects, they often lay off entire teams, except for those who have a computer science degree along with data science skills. This practice is really heartbreaking and unfair. Moreover, other companies do not easily hire those who have been laid off.Given this situation, I am currently preparing for the GATE exam, which is one of the most prestigious exams in India and offers an opportunity to pursue an M.Tech in Data Science. My family is in a very poor condition, but I am taking a break of 6 to 7 months to prepare for the GATE exam, aiming to do my M.Tech and then find a stable job.I am a mechanical engineering graduate and I just turned 25 today. I am really confused and depressed about my future and whether pursuing an M.Tech is the right decision for me. Your guidance and genuine help would mean the world to me and my family. Is there any advice you can offer or any way you can assist me, perhaps even with a company reference in your country?Thank you for taking the time to read my message. Your support would truly be a blessing for my whole family. I m living in slum areas you come and make vlog please help 🙇‍♂️ ( any personal contact for guidance sister)
