I love the book vlogs but daily life vlogs make me so happy! It’s so nice to see how you’re doing and what your focused on. I really hope you do well this semester ❤
your videos always make me want to read and learn so much about the world and authors and history and english! your passion for learning is so clear and infectious
That Taylor Swift reference in the beginning was the chuckle I didn't know I needed today. SO excited for you being close to graduating! I've been following your journey, and am almost all caught up on your old videos. I won't know how to feel without being able to binge them, but it's okay. More time to read, and work on my French lessons (inspired by you). Your videos always give me so much joy, and the sweet demon Calcifer just doubles it. I miss having a cat so much (can't have one where I live, but hopefully can get a kitten whenever I'm able to move). The shot of you having a hard time writing in a loud crowded place was so relatable. Wishing you the best of luck on your essay and just all good things. I would love to see more vlogs documenting the last month of your degree. Even though it will be over, I believe that you will most definitely continue your education . Your passion for it is just too strong not to. A million thank yous again for sharing a slice of your life with us, and all of the inspiration and peace your videos bring us all. I appreciate that you give us the ups and downs, which is so important. I don't address my own mental health and anxiety as much as I should, and you remind me to just breathe and be my breath. I want to make you a special gift sometime soon. Wondering if you have a new P.O. box in Toronto, or if the one in Ontario still a thing. If anyone in the comments knows, please tell me. edit: I meant London, not Ontario oops brain
I just started my college studies, I'm slightly intimidated, but more so excited that I am doing something that I actually enjoy, rather than relying on other's opinions of my own decisions :) Great video, I enjoyed it.
I was a film major! I actually started taking it for film production but wound up doing film theory/history. Cleo from 5 to 7 was one of my favorites out of the MANY films I had to watch throughout being in school! It was cool to hear you mention it!
I've been putting off writing my essay for grad school all day but seeing you work made me feel like working and I finally managed to start, so thank you!
@@emmiereads It's an application essay for a Masters in writing, so the pressure in terms of fanciness of writing is baddd and I've completely forgotten how to language
The intro ❤ For many years, every time I come home, I say "It's me, hi" and now I also started saying "I'm the problem, it's me" but my mother looks at me like I've gone mad. Maybe I should explain to her that these are T. Swift lyrics. I'm glad someone else does this as well.
I got so happy when you talked about the french new wave and Laura Mulvey, because I'm on my first year of film- and media studies, and we just finished our modules about those topics - very interesting stuff 😍☺
I am studying French literature and I'm in Paris this year, thanks to an exchange program. History of cinema is one of the courses I take here and we also studied Cleo from 5 to 7, like this last week! So I got very excited when I heard you talking about it and I think you explained it very well. Since I came here, away from my home country and everyone I've known for like 21 years (my whole life), you've been a great support to me with your relaxing and lively videos. Thank you so much for sharing your love of books with us! To be fair, I don't generally comment in videos but this one was was out of question, it's like the least I can do... Wish you an amazing end of the year with your loved ones.
I'm a student who majors in English Lit and I'm also in my last semester for this degree. Hope you wrap up this long journey successfully and root for you :)
I'd love to witness your final days as a student and witness you completing your degree. I've been watching you go through it the last year or so, and it will be great to see you finish up. Good luck! I'm sure you will do well! And I hope you'll keep us in the loop on your future studies, because you have said you'd like to go back and do more! Wow! You go girl, knowledge is life!
It was so fun to see you delve a bit more into film analysis at least in conjunction with literature! I had a few film courses both in mu bachelor's and master's degrees and I really liked the additional layer of a film as an extra element to analyse on any given topic (also my studies were all over the place as well so I feel you on that one!)
ahhh! I started uni in 2017 too as an English major but switched to Film after my first film course! glad to hear you’re broadening your horizons in the criticism fields as there’s plenty overlap in the Lit and Film skill set :) I think you’ll really enjoy Agnes Varda’s other works and definitely read some more film criticism.. whole reason I changed my major hehe
I've been watching you for about a year now and I thoroughly adore your videos. I'm a PhD Student in the Northeastern US and just got out of a women's lit online class, reading Virginia Woolf for the most part. Read To the Lighthouse in that and adored it. Not only that, but...I get the health issues while going to school and struggling bit. Seeing your videos reminds me a lot of myself in undergrad. I'm so glad you kept going. And I can see how much your degree means to you when you discuss what you're learning. All the best and godspeed to you. :D
Hi Emmie! I really enjoy your videos and they have led to some really wonderful reads for me! I wanted to ask how you ended up with such an awful concussion unless that's not something you are wanting to share, which I totally understand. Good luck with finishing this last class and I look forward to more cozy bookish vlogs! ♥
i've been watching your videos for a few months now and have binged all of your study vlogs multiple times for motivation!! actually found your channel through your "write an essay with me" video- i'd love another one in that style 🥰 you inspire me to read, be creative and take care of myself, thank you emmie ❤☺ (also: calcifer is so damn cute i can't get over it)
Oh my God, I was just thinking about you and then i saw this. I hope you are having a great day, these vlogs as an english lit student are amazing and i really look forward to them as someone who wants to pursue lit! Thanks a bunch emma
I would love to read some of your essays. (if you're okay with sharing them ofc, maybe just the ones you like best/are most proud of). They seem like such interesting topics!
So cool how you were talking about exploring Male Gaze in cinema and referenced Lauren Mulvey because I have did the same recently too, except with an Argentinian director called María Luisa Bemberg, who subverted it to create a representation The Female Gaze in her 1980s film Camila
I'm thankful for your channel, Emma, and for BookTube in general. To celebrate (US) Thanksgiving, I went to a real bookstore today for the first time since Christmas shopping 2019. I didn't find what I went for but that's OK. It felt like going home. Happy Thanksgiving to those who celebrate and all you Canadians are invited to have Second Thanksgiving, like Second Breakfast.
I loved that you shared studying out in the city in the vlog! I know that living in the city hasn’t been the easiest thing for you since you moved, but it made me so happy to see you out there even if it was scary or hard ❤ I’m proud of you! It’s ok if it’s still uncomfortable, but you looked good out there!
I got taken out by a concussion last september. It was really bad to the point where I had a seizure. I still dont have a lot of motor function in my hands, as well as hella brain fog, but its really encouraging to see that you're working to finish your degree. My GPA tanked but I spent this semester working to get it back up. I'm proud of you, and I'm happy that now I have proof that I can heal and get to where I want to be.
I hope you're feeling better, and that you continue to recover. I, myself, suffered a stroke about 7 years ago and tbh I'm still recovering from it, even though the doctors like to say 1-2 years is typical.
I loved this vlog! Makes me feel sad that I'm done with my studies 🤣 I got a master's this summer (five years of of classes in total) and now all I do is work but I've always enjoyed university. Also, a bit random, but when you have your bangs cut and wear your hair up in a loose bun (in the clips where you're in a green sweatshirt) it looks so good on you!!! I think it's thanks to your face shape and it's so cool, I love this hairstyle on you
Lmao I can't believe you're thinking of writing about Wide Sargasso Sea. I'm writing my first master's essay on it (I feel the pressure 😖) and another book called The Eyre Affair (and possibly the next book in that series called Lost In a Good Book). Obviously, I'm focusing on Jane Eyre fanfiction haha. Still trying to come up with my thesis rip. I'm glad you had an easier time writing your paper than I have mine. It was interesting hearing your take on WSS, you brought up a lot of things that we never discussed in class. Good luck and congrats on finishing your degree ❤
Discussion board posts are literally always just like “hey fellow student! I really enjoyed reading your post, I definitely agree with this point blah blah blah”
i’ve also had a unique path with getting my english degree bc of health stuff, and have been watching your videos since before my own plans when awry in 2020. im hopefully graduating next summer and i’m proud of u for getting there too! even if it wasn’t the plan, it’s still such an accomplishment. wishing u the best! :)
Ahh I relate so much to your anxieties, people and places can be so overwhelming! Yay to seemingly small wins though. 🙆♀️ I'm wishing you all the best! 🤗
Good luck with finishing your degree, Emma! I'm wondering though, do you not have to write a BA thesis in Canada? I'm currently working on my thesis in English lit, but maybe that's just a thing in Europe? 😳
I find the reviews of the books make me want to have a go at them. I have heard of so many of them over my 50+ years of reading but thought not for me. Thank you for broadening my horizons book-wise. Well done with your studies, I am sure you will achieve a first.
this could come out very cliche even tho it's not intended as such, i feel the urge to say all this. as someone who really was passionate about school and never got to actually do much beyond middle school, i just wanna say that you Emma have done your absolute best with your degree and school as far as i have been watching you, you became a comfort youtuber for me and i just want to tell you that i'm so proud of you. it's so comforting watching your school/degree content, and honestly i absolutely love your videos and effort you put into them.i wish you the best of luck with your studies. and God damn this camera quality!!!! slay
I hated every discussion board I ever did in uni. Worst ever set up for exchange of ideas. Good luck to you as you wrap up your degree, though! That's so exciting!
Creative writing! 😁 Remember you mentioning an interest in writing fiction in some video a year or so back, but you haven’t mentioned it in a while. What kind of themes do you find yourself writing/are you drawn to, Emma?
Film criticism can still be part of your jam. Whether or not you fall into a French New Wave rabbit hole, Italian Neorealism should be next. Take a shot of your favorite tea every time you come across the term "cinema verite." ^J^
So like, if, someday, you were to write a fiction novel (for recreational or commercial purposes) what genre would you tackle? And I mean specific genre, since you read a variety of stuff I can't pin anything down with you. And sometimes people don't write what they read, so given the opportunity (free of any academic restraints or obligations) what type of story would you write? Setting, Period, Atmosphere, etc.
Emma, are you thinking of writing a novel? The story of a lovely, intelligent, sensitive young woman who moves from her peaceful rural life into the steel-and-glass cacophony of city existence and the tidal pools of peace she finds to help her cope until once again she can return to the joy of her wooded home? / EC - publication to be announced, hm? / Hope so, even if this outline sounds perhaps a tad too Murakami. Depends on handling and voice, of course. Greatly enjoyed this video and wish you a triumphant graduation soon. You're strong, determined, and focused, and it's inspirational to see you prevail. Brava.
That was sooo good!!! Thank you for sharing❤️ Oh, and it would be really great to see a video about how you plan and go through actually writing an eesay: from pick up the theme and book till having the essay done🎐
"It's me, hi. I'm the problem, it's me" Why did I just know that that's what you were going to say, haha. I'm currently struggling with writing a paper. Hopefully this can give my procrastinator brain the well needed motivation.
Your course modules are pretty similar to mine. I'm also in my last sem and following feminism and other literary theories. I'd love to see your essays. I got really curious in an earlier vlog where you wrote an eassy, the one you gave tips and all. If it's possible please do a vlog and upload it online, in academia or somewhere. Best of luck!
i am in a class on virginia woolf & bloomsbury right now, and if you were at all interested in a room of one’s own i’d highly suggest looking into “of one woman or so” by kabe wilson (if u haven’t already)! it’s a novella written using every word in a room of one’s own! we watched his interview where he unpacks his process for class and it was soooo cool
I’m in the final two weeks of my English language and literature degree. I also minored in creative writing. I’m so glad I’m at the end, because I’m burnt out to the highest degree. Lol. I’m happy for you. And it’s fun to see another English student, what they’re reading, and how classes are different/the same.
well, a degree is an end in itself IMHO, even if you're part of community/society where higher ed seems not only normal but actually compulsory. And at worst you can always dazzle people with the insane number of things from the Rory Gilmore Challenge that you've read!
Hello, Emma, maybe I have been unconsciously obsessed with you and your channel that last night I dreamt of you and in my dream you were my friend and we talked about life and books. It was pleasant ☺️💫
I love the book vlogs but daily life vlogs make me so happy! It’s so nice to see how you’re doing and what your focused on. I really hope you do well this semester ❤
ah so good to know, I love doing these - thank you so much Khalilah
BABES OMG I SEE YOU EVERYWHERE LITERALLY EVERYWHERE
your videos always make me want to read and learn so much about the world and authors and history and english! your passion for learning is so clear and infectious
the best comment, so glad!!
emphasis on the infectious!! she really inspires me to fuel my passion for english and literature!!❤❤
This is what I needed to warm up on a chill Wednesday morning! I hope you are staying warm and cozy!
ah I wish it was a chill morning here, for some reason it's warming up! hope you have the coziest day Lexie
Good luck on your studies, Emmie. We will all support you no matter what.
Always ❤
you guys mean the world to me, thank you so much lovely
Good luck on ur studies
I saw your comments on almost every video I've seen in the past two or so days haha.
You're a true warrior, Emma! Your determination is a thing of beauty. Hope your week goes well!

I just started my college studies, I'm slightly intimidated, but more so excited that I am doing something that I actually enjoy, rather than relying on other's opinions of my own decisions :) Great video, I enjoyed it.
omg, the French New Wave is my favorite film movement!! I get so happy when I'm watching a booktube video and someone starts talking about film! 💗
I was a film major! I actually started taking it for film production but wound up doing film theory/history. Cleo from 5 to 7 was one of my favorites out of the MANY films I had to watch throughout being in school! It was cool to hear you mention it!

I’ve watched you throughout your journey and I’m so glad you’re living your dream and accomplishing your goals…happy tears for you 🥲
calcifer has such a beautiful color, hes probably the most gorgeous orange kitty ive ever seen
he says he's very flattered
I loooove the little snippets of literary analysis!! I’d totally watch more videos of you doing this with different authors and topics 🥰❤️
Wish you all the energy for this semester!! Honestly love all of your videos but this week has been rough too this video really brightened my day
thank you!! so sorry your week hasn't been going well, I hope it looks up
I'm a student who majors in English Lit and I'm also in my last semester for this degree. Hope you wrap up this long journey successfully and root for you :)
Your vlog was just what I needed after doing a presentation for my English class! Your calm energy really helped chill me out❤️

I got my English agree few months agoo, I really miss it. I love literature and learning it was an amazing experience
Hi Emma, I just wanted to thank you so much because your vlogs always succeed in calming me a bit and remind me that life is worth living
i love how you cherish learning! it's so inspiring
Cleo from 5 to 7 is one of my favourite films ever ever ever, I nearly cry every time I see it. I really hope you enjoy it if you watch it.

As an English lit student myself this is so relatable
watching this after finishing writing my final research paper... I'm so happy I chose to be an English major :) your videos bring me so much joy
Hi Emmie! I really enjoy your videos and they have led to some really wonderful reads for me! I wanted to ask how you ended up with such an awful concussion unless that's not something you are wanting to share, which I totally understand. Good luck with finishing this last class and I look forward to more cozy bookish vlogs! ♥
Thank you so so much💙 still hard for me to talk about but I do plan on finally making a video on it very soon!
i've been watching your videos for a few months now and have binged all of your study vlogs multiple times for motivation!! actually found your channel through your "write an essay with me" video- i'd love another one in that style 🥰
you inspire me to read, be creative and take care of myself, thank you emmie ❤☺

I'm hoping to study literature as well next year. Excited!

decided out of nowhere to rearrange my bookshelves so I'm having quite the day lol - and ah so happy, sending you all the hugs
I would love to read some of your essays. (if you're okay with sharing them ofc, maybe just the ones you like best/are most proud of). They seem like such interesting topics!
The nose boop with Calcifer 💕
My broken heart really needed a video from you. Break ups are not easy, but I'm going through it :)
I discovered both you and Carolyn recently and now I’m obsessed with you guys!!!
Emmie, i'm wishing you a very good luck on your school work. cheering for you from Japan!
13:02 your cat is so lovely. Even humans can't be this affectionate.
Yes, I expected Calcifer would be a great cat but the "Orange Distraction" has even exceeded that great expectation.
he's a sweetie pie
Thank you very much, Kyle, and of course, here's wishing you a very happy Thanksgiving.
I loved that you shared studying out in the city in the vlog! I know that living in the city hasn’t been the easiest thing for you since you moved, but it made me so happy to see you out there even if it was scary or hard ❤ I’m proud of you! these weekly vlogs make me so happy 🫶 10 seconds in and i'm loving it already hehe ☃
you seem so passionate about what you're studying
that's so funny because yesterday I read my first Virginia Woolf's book (on women and writing) and I just LOVED it. Hope your studies go well emma !!
I would love to see more vlogs like this! I really enjoyed this video! Thanks for sharing 😊
God, I love Calcifer. If this channel turned into nothing but cat footage, would still definitely watch.
You and me both😂
I got taken out by a concussion last september.
Absolutely love watching your Uni vlogs! Good luck with your last couple weeks of class! 💜
amazing! i also had to read virginia woolf for a modern literature course i'm taking this semester
8:07 OMG I love Cleo from 5 to 7!!!! Overall Agnes Varda's films are so good!!
Your take on discussion boards resonated with my core emmie 😭😂
you are an oasis of calm
so far, this is the best part of my thanksgiving break
I loved this vlog! Makes me feel sad that I'm done with my studies 🤣 I got a master's this summer (five years of of classes in total) and now all I do is work but I've always enjoyed university.
Also, a bit random, but when you have your bangs cut and wear your hair up in a loose bun (in the clips where you're in a green sweatshirt) it looks so good on you!!! I think it's thanks to your face shape and it's so cool, I love this hairstyle on you

Thanks for summing up the same exeprience, I had gone through myself, as a former undergraduate...
always love these cozy vids, emma!

you are really soft spoken and I like that a lot

It's crazy how much we miss Emma
Good luck, Emma! I'm super proud of you!
Continue to pursue learning and read your books! It's good for the mind and soul.💖💖📚📚📚📚📖📖📖🧠🧠🧠
Wow, Calcifer is so big now! Btw, good luck on your studies, you can do it!!! 💪🏻
I know :') he's getting heavier to pick up lol and thank you so much!

Definitely want another vlog like that ❤️
Yay a nice cozy video to start the day!!
Just had to pause the video and say how big Calcifer is getting. His little paws are now soo chunky 😍😍😍
Videos like this are the best!
I love this kind of vlog!! Thank you for showing us Toronto! And good luck with your studies! Love u!

so hope the second half of your week goes smoother! sending all the good things your way
So cozy watching your videos! And thank you for updating new subscribers like I am one
That was sooo good!!! Thank you for sharing❤️
Oh, and it would be really great to see a video about how you plan and go through actually writing an eesay: from pick up the theme and book till having the essay done🎐
I feel so happy to see you 💓 sending you best wishes on your way Emmie. 💗
Thank you!! All the best to you😊

liked when “its me hi im the promblem its me”
"It's me, hi. I'm the problem, it's me" Why did I just know that that's what you were going to say, haha. I'm currently struggling with writing a paper. Hopefully this can give my procrastinator brain the well needed motivation.
While I love all of your content, these are always by favorite types of videos.
Best of luck!
this video came at the perfect time:') I have to write an essay for my asian american lit class. thank u emma
i am in a class on virginia woolf & bloomsbury right now, and if you were at all interested in a room of one’s own i’d highly suggest looking into “of one woman or so” by kabe wilson (if u haven’t already)! it’s a novella written using every word in a room of one’s own! we watched his interview where he unpacks his process for class and it was soooo cool
it’s not available to actually read but it’s an awesome project to learn about
I’m in the final two weeks of my English language and literature degree. I also minored in creative writing. I’m so glad I’m at the end, because I’m burnt out to the highest degree. Lol.
I’m happy for you. And it’s fun to see another English student, what they’re reading, and how classes are different/the same.
Good luck, Emma! This was such a lovely vlog
Today is my birthday n all I can think about is Emma telling me hbd 💔💔💔😭
Have a very happy birthday!
@@jamesduggan7200 thank uu smmm 😭😭💕💕🥹
I'm so curious what your post grad plans are?? I finished with my english degree in the spring...looking for inspiration lol!
well, a degree is an end in itself IMHO, even if you're part of community/society where higher ed seems not only normal but actually compulsory. And at worst you can always dazzle people with the insane number of things from the Rory Gilmore Challenge that you've read!
more school lol
@@emmiereads same!! Lol
Hello, Emma, maybe I have been unconsciously obsessed with you and your channel that last night I dreamt of you and in my dream you were my friend and we talked about life and books. It was pleasant ☺️💫
that sounds lovely:')
