Emma, I got a library card finally (YAY!) and I have no clue how to read on my Kindle. I am in Ontario as well and when I google it all says "libby and kindle don't work together in Canada" but you've said before you do it. Would love to know how to figure it out! I feel dumb :( I don't really want to buy a kobo but I will if I have to bc migraines suck and that's what happens when I read on my non-e-ink devices! Thanks for your help!!!
thank you for being so honest and open with how your reading experience has been going lately. i’m sure it must be hard to constantly be reading such challenging/ upsetting literature week after week, but i wanna say you’re really great at knowing what you need to do to for yourself to try and stay clear-headed and less stressed with all the work that you have to do. i’m so glad you could end this vlog on a happy note and i cant wait to see what your final thoughts will be! take care of yourself and keep up the great work :))♥️
dear Emma, thank you for the moments of calm, gentle motivation and comfort that you give me. I am currently intent on starting to improve my English skills in order to prepare for an entrance exam to one of the Irish Universities. I cherish in my heart the dream of studying Irish folklore. I understand that in order to improve my English I also need to read, but I face absolute frustration and lack of concentration when I try to start reading. I'm guessing depression and social media addiction may have contributed a lot to this. I will try not to forget that reading should be enjoyable, that it should not be violent. thank you for gently reminding me of this.
i've had a pretty rough week and this is definitely the kind of video i needed right now. thank you so much for always being a source of comfort through your videos !!
I've seen this video so many times, and whenever I feel demotivated, I always find myself re-watching it, and it always motivates me to do my school-work/write my essays! Thanks Emmie!
im going back to school in the end of august and when i’m in school my reading life dies so i’m currently enjoying reading as much as I can. You’re doing great and i know you’re brilliant but im proud of you
Your uni vlogs are my absolute fav!! I can't tell you the number of times I have watched your essay-writing videos whenever I procrastinate or just need a moment of peace. Thank you so much for the work you put into making all of us happy!
I just really like it when you go back to loving your books! Reading can be really heavy going at times but seeing you enjoying them and just relishing the worlds in them makes me love reading so much too!
@@emmiereads I gotta ask! I’ve noticed you say a few times recently that 100 Years of Solitude is your favorite book ever. So did it unseat The Phantom of the Opera then??
I have a wonderful and awarding week. I was on a holiday leave for two weeks, a battery on my phone was very low, no charger with me and I decided not to borrow one and to spend my time mostly offline. It served me really great. Now I'm back and you, Emma, uploaded so much that I have a week with * e m m i e * - one day one video. All the best to book lovers :3
I am rereading one hundred years of solitude and I absolutely love it :) I bring it with me everywhere just in case I have 5 minutes to read, something that has only happened a few times! Good week and good readings :)
Good luck with all your schoolwork!! It's lovely to be strung along your week. The goblin mode has never been felt more by me and I wish you the best! Hopefully you get a bit more time to read your own things :D
Do you ever take books out of the library rather than buying? I've just re-discovered my love for the Toronto public library system! 🥰They've also removed late fees which is great and makes the system that much more accessible.
Currently I have to read a lot in advance for my master's degree (672 pages in total). Today I was also frustrated and had a small mental breakdown. So I know perfectly how you feel. But don't let these emotions too close to your heart. You are doing fine. Not every day has to be a good day😉
You’re doing so well and it sounds like you’re enjoying the required reading. So happy for you. Just think of alll the cozy fall reads you have to look forward to once you’ve graduated in September. 🤗
You're amazing, Emma, and I always love to hear from you. I'm currently on the biggest reading binge of my life and I definitely partly credit you! Be well!
yay🩷 i’ve been working on some changes in my uni degree, taking some new steps that are making me more excited for my future, and so trying to go back to studying and reading more, being intentionally productive❣️ and here’s my companion! thank you emma for a new vlog! 🥰🥰🥰
I stumbled across A Long Way to a Small Angry Planet. And it feels like the coziest sci-fi in a while. I was feeling low, but optimistic futurism and your vlogs make the day better, thank you! Best wishes to the sofa tester)
I really hope you'll get to see As You Like It soon! I saw it last summer at an outside summer theatre on an island in front of Helsinki (which did mean it was in Finnish lol but i think the translation was good) and it was honestly one of the best significalty older plays I've ever seen. So sweet and funny, and Rosalind and Celia's friendship just feels so much more sweeter on stage.
Oh man, thank you for saying an essay that long is daunting! I’m about to start one that 15+ pages, and I’m definitely overwhelmed. You talking about yours, including topic, helped me out a ton!!
Love the uni vibes. I am definitely an Interstellar fan and def need to check out Aurora! I have never heard of it but sounds right up my ally. Glad you have been enjoying it! 😊
My uncle has written science fiction books and I've always assumed they were published by some obscure, crappy publisher that no one has heard of - but in fact it's the same publisher as 'Aurora'!!
i'm gonna finish my two degrees next year so all productive vlogs are going to be necessary to prep for that since i will not only have to write one but two thesis to finish them! loving the vlogs recently :) sending hugs since i know i haven't been active in the comments recently but i was first busy with uni and then spend almost a month abroad soooo :) i was last year asked to do a 20 pages essay too for my french cinema class and it was INTENSE so i get your stress haha
Watching this vlog with my cat :3 He says hi to Calcifer. I just started reading Interview with the Vampire, and it's interesting so far. I'm putting Aurora on my TBR bc it sounds really cool. Hope you're having a great day, Emma!
Hey! Your vlogs are so comforting. Love watching them. Thank you! Aurora reminded me of a netflix series called "Lost in space". Me and my mom had fun watching it during the pandemic
That couch looks so comfy! I really hope you’re feeling better, Emma! And that you can read what you want soon but I can imagine how you feel about graduating cause I’m gonna start my last year of my Hispanic Lit degree! If it’s any help, drinking only warm of hot coffe/tea/chocolate/anything is really helpful with cramps!! Send you the best vibes, thank you for such beautiful wholesome content ❤
Hello 😊 I am also doing uni work rn because I am stooopid (I missed a tiny dumb graduation requirement and had to take a summer history of med course - would've graduated last month but now that's happening in October ☹️) it's ok though 'cause I was taking a year off anyway, and hey it's nice to have company as far as unwanted extra school work goes
All I know about the Galapagos Islands I learned from two books: The first was Kurt Vonnegut's eponymous novel. He was once one of my favorite writers tho I suss you aren't eager to experience his unique form of Post-Modernism. The other is a book everyone should read, Darwin's Origin of the species. The portion of the trip he spends in the Galapagos was the most inspiring, leading him to some of his most important hypotheses on how life on Earth developed. Your new couch looks great, as does your little tiger, whom I adore.
I'm also doing an English degree and finished my final exams for general degree program early this month, thought all the trouble is over. But, rn I'm working on my portfolio which is due in two days. Watching this with my coffee in my hand to take a break, and this is great motivation ❤ Keep on going Emma, it'll be worth it. Atleast, we're reading and ticking off books aren't we, that's the main thing 😆
Shipped sounds interesting. The Blue Footed Booby (it's a bird) is indigenous to the Galapagos Islands so it is on my travel bucket list. I definitely need some motivation. I am still reading The Brothers Karamazov 🤦🏼♀️
Regarding "As You Like It", Shakespeare's mother's maiden name was Arden. This comment is dedicated to all the "the guy from Stratford didn't write the plays" people.
Re: no one doing As You Like It-- this summer the Starling Shakespeare Company is touring to Mackinaw Island and doing both As You Like It *and* Julius Caesar for their Shakespeare in the park this August!
Calcifer is such a cutie sleeping on the new chair. He reminds me of our old family cat. As does having to get cat hair off any dark clothing constantly 😄
Probably the worst time to recommend a sci fi series to you lol, but the Expanse is one if not the best sci fi experience in my opinion! Its gritty, its funny, its political, its plot, its realistic with just a lil bit of alien action but not too much. Just so so so good once you get past the detective trope of the first book. Its also a tv series thats just as good but they finished at season 6 when the actual story has 3 more books to it. Anyways, super fast and easy to read, 1000% recommend. Also, the way women and queerness are portrayed I just love. Its 300 years in the future, and there seems to be actual equality without it ever being explicitly said (especially in the tv series).
@@emmiereads Awesome, thank you for replying Emma. Also I hope my question didn't come across as badgering you guys. I understand that you've had a lot on and busy life makes it hard to schedule stuff. I just didn't want to miss it, that's all! Crossing my fingers for the second last week of July, as I'll be in hospital for the last week of July on a continuous 5-day ket@mine infusion for pain management so I'd be pretty foggy trying to join in on the chat (I'm also in Australia so there's the time zone thing). Good luck with all your uni work.
