I swear you have the most soothing voice ❤ these mundane vlogs feel like I’m just hanging out with a friend and I love that. Glad to see you’re doing well 😊
Unproductive days for me are when I'm feeling sluggish and just can't finish the book I'm on. My last book took me so long that by the time I was half way through it I had finished university, got married, fathered 2 kids, retired and died.
Omg calcifer is massive now! I swear he was so tiny not even a month ago & now he's literally running around your house like he pays the bills. He's even drinking your coffee 😂
Ah, I'm so jealous. What I miss the most about living in Toronto are the exhibitions, the symphony, the ballet and the number of libraries, bookshops and cafés. Now that I live in Kelowna the wonders are just Nature which is beautiful, but sometimes I miss everything that Toronto offers in terms of Art.
In Olga Tokarczuk’s „Flights” one of the storylines is that of the narrator as a maid at the hotel anthropology-analysing/discussing the hotel guests and coworkers. It took me a long time (three months) to read Flights because well Polish is not my native language (the book is translated into English but I practise my Polish through reading books) and it’s a book that’s nice to read slow because it is composed of so many little intertwining parts. It’s one of my favourite books, a masterwork, Tokarczuk won the international Booker prize for it.
Please, Emma, do more mundane vlogs! I simply loved it! Calcifer is more and more adorable! Do you like Prokofiev? I love him! Lots of love from Rio de Janeiro! 💖✨💖✨
I am really waiting for your A Farewell to Arms reading vlog; I want to hear what you have to say about Henry and Catherine's conversations (because I didn't enjoy those one bit) Please do it soon Emma. Have a good one(s) till then ☺️.
I'm stugling with that too, and I don't remember disliking them so much on my first read ... over 10 years ago. This re-read is in English (first was a translation) but I don't think the language is the problem. I think my awareness of Henry's true intentions is the issue
@@laurakuhlmann1626 Henry's true intentions? Now you're scaring me cause I thought even though he didn't really feel much for her in the beginning, he came around by the end, right? Or is there something I missed about his intentions...?
@@Literary_Baddie5838 I meant his initial intentions, which were as superficial as they get. He did care for her at the end, but the sad part is hard to know how much she meant to him other than a respite from the war, because their conversations were always superficial. Still, why did I do that to myself--I knew exactly how it ends and somehow I hoped all the way that it would end differently.
@@laurakuhlmann1626 Yeah, now I get what you meant. It was my first time reading it and I was put off by Henry's lack of genuine affection towards Catherine, and even more by Catherine's willingness to want to please him all the time to the extent of wanting to throw away her own identity... it's okay that you hoped for a different ending; we all do that to ourselves sometimes 😅
I love Calcie. He's just so precious. I've had quite a few ginger fosters and my boy Tango lives with my ex but visit him often. Nothing like a ginger is there?! They're so silly. Thanks for all the great content.
it was the cutest thing watching your cat, looking at the Sun. I’m so happy for you, and for the Sun outside, it may look simple, but the simplest thing can bring the most happiness.
My cat, Boris, is about the same age and I have almost that exact toy with the stick only he has a bird at the end of the string. He catches it and I let go of the stick and he walks around like he really caught something. He drags is all over my apartment like he is showing off.
Emmie, as someone who used to have a lot of break outs without knowing the reason, try to cut off dairy/milk in general. It was the main cause of my acne. I'm aware you have been exercising more, which leads to more ingestion of protein that can contain milk. Just telling you what worked for me because not many people talk about it. Most of the times during my work out phases I would break out for this reason. ;) Love your channel!
it must be the time of the year. i'm hearing that a lot. do you have one of those sunshine light simulators? they really do work. go for the most $$ you can afford.
If you like stories about hotels, I highly recommend Gay Talese's article in the New Yorker called "The Voyeur's Motel," -- wonderfully written, super interesting, and I still think about it years later. Love from a fellow Torontonian ❤️🤍
A loom? Well, Burlington House (I believe, but memory alas) has (had?) a building in Manhattan with a moving sidewalk - maybe a half hour - exhibit of everything Loom. I visited there often, bc sometimes I hated school more than I loved exhibits and art museums. Sometimes - don't get me wrong I wasn't the worst student, just wasn't a great fit.
My cat and me stay in different countries and I miss playing with her so much, my heart feels so happy and full when I see you playing with calcifer 🥺🥺🥺🥺❤❤❤❤
That was so much fun! This is going to sound so stupid but, I enjoy seeing what groceries you buy since I buy the same brands, being in Canada as well. Looove Nature's Own oat milk! And the weather, well, sun, snow, sun, more snow. Wishing you a great week!🐈 🌞❄
I am not complaining but observing that your new microphone is more detailed in the plosives and fricatives but also has a distance to it, whereas your old one was more up front and full-channel. You remain soothing, inspiring, and the best.
Again, dropping a cozy video exactly when I need it. Worked 8am to 9:30pm with like almost no breaks after a solid month of wildly stressful work. I did manage to get in a few chapters of A Farewell to Arms though. Still not loving it though…😂
I love calcifer being a little stinker! I'm glad you are having productive and happy days. I am in a rut with this being my senior semester and I feel like I have no time for personal reading between school and work 😫 this was a highlight in my personal break for my day of studying. On a separate note, I won a giveaway from Penguin Random House publishing and was just sent 5 books for FREE!!!😁
I am really really struggling with my anxiety and mental health issues so thank you for a fantastic video that is amazing and giving me a smile love your Aussie friend John ❤❤❤
Love Sophie Calle's work, in fact I was going to recommend The Hotel after watching your earlier video that included books on hotels. Glad you found it!
I hope you get your flute next time you visit home! Music is something you can do your whole life and it’s really fun finding community groups to play with for fun. Plus, I would love to eventually see you play in a video sometime! Fellow flute player here 🎵
Yeah A Universal History is interesting but Borges definitely hadn't developed his style yet - Ficciones is where things really pick up. I hope you liked Man on Pink Corner though, I quite enjoy that story.
I had tp stop eating soy because acne (which I never had a problem with til I started eating a lot of soy) became a huge problem for me.. The acne actually hurt. I hated giving up soy, but the acne stopped for me when I stopped soy. Since I loved soy, it felt like a big loss in my meals.
I finished 100 years of solitude a couple of weeks ago (so so good) and am looking for Emmie’s last closing remarks on the read along but cant seem to find it 🥲 does anyone know which video she finished the book in?
You inspired me to make banana bread. It’s in the oven. I also reserved the biography of nurse M. You are so interesting and fun to watch. I love your cat!
Oh, early Borges is such a theme of debate. I'd like to know your appreciation about Ficciones or some late poetry of him. Also, I hope you can give some Borges in Spanish a try, because his wordcraft in his original language is excellent and musical.
Emma, lovely video once again! Would you be open to sharing your reels on youtube shorts as well? I don’t have instagram because it’s a little too addicting for me 🙃, but I wouldn’t want to miss out on any content ❤️
Luv ur content always! I am so curious about the stage you’re at in your life, because I just finished my undergrad in English and have started a masters in library science. Do you make enough money off your TH-cam to support yourself? Just curious about fellow young folks/recent grads. But I support your privacy as well!
Just curious, have you seen the Netflix series Queens gambit? Tons of hotel inspo and it reminded me of you and your last video!!! It’s so good I’m enjoying it a lot
I’m literally addicted to this channel. Balm to my soul.

calcifer is the cutest sweetest silliest little bean. i love him so much and i love how happy he makes you ♡♡♡
:’) he’s truly pure serotonin and comfort

The lack of sun in Ontario 🥲🥲🥲 please be safe in the city Emmie, with everything that’s been going on ♥️🙏🏼
Omg calcifer is massive now! I swear he was so tiny not even a month ago & now he's literally running around your house like he pays the bills. He's even drinking your coffee 😂
Emma you deserve the benefits of your hard work! Happy to hear of the opportunities for you.

I'm sick right now and you posting today has made me feel better already! I love your channel Emma!
I'm so glad you're getting to have some more chill time. You deserve it!
When you were like omg the sun is out! and you panned over to Calcifer,I laughed SO hard at the way he was sitting and staring at you 😂😂
Same. I went back and played that bit again.
Same here❤

I love the song you choose for 14:45 "Not Blue" so so much. I have been listening to it non-stop.
Nothing to see here really, just Emma oozing cosyness and comfort ❤❤❤

If anyone is curious, the other musical piece mentioned from that Toronto Symphony concert is Vaughan Williams' Fantasia on a Theme by Thomas Tallis.
I just finished my first semester studying English lit in greece❤️ Now we have half term exams and it's safe to say you're my new comfort TH-camr❤️
