Her soprano is incomparable and exquisite . This song has something deep to soothe and warms . This song purifies the passions of a person with a wonderful masterpiece of melancholy and nostalgia .

With this level of intensity and soulfulness of her voice, no enemy in front of her can pick up a gun and fire a bullet ... she has the canon that melt everything that her voice can reach...
I have tracked this piece over again for the last twenty years to every Utube posting I can find. This is my number one soprano aria and I've been a student of opera for 40 years. I am a tenor and this year will find the sheet music so that I can sing this just for myself as I love it. Ms Kavinski is the rank of the very best I've heard sing this aria, that includes any one you can find on Utube....anyone. What is her future after the service? She should be heard beyond this "happenstance" posting. Brava!!!!!
"'Song to the Moon' is perhaps one of the most beautiful arias ever written for soprano voice." There's no "perhaps" about it. And she sang it beautifully.
I can’t believe it I am actually getting chills listening to this rendition. I would have never thought it could sound so amazing without strings, but it the sound is so haunting, and yes I would very much like to hear more from her.
Wow! A first rate performance of one of the great arias and Susan Kavinski's singing of this piece right up there with my favorites by Frederica Von Stade and Leontyne Price.
That Susan and the Navy orchestra would think of themselves worthy of performing such a challenging selection as this is a definite tribute to their musical prowess. She does sing this extraordinarily well. To be able to render this kind of world class performance is just astounding--these people have this amazing talent yet sacrifice much to be in the service of their country. Very, very impressive. We do still have some in this country of whom we can be especially proud. Bravissimo Susan and orchestra!
I get goosebumps and tears in my eyes every time I listen to this piece of Dvorak as sung by the soprano Susan Kavinski. I wish I can congratulate you and the conductor myself. The sound is technically perfect too. I will look out for more music of Susan Kavinski as I am hooked on her voice - I hope you read the comments Susan.
1 ans après je réécoute Suzanne Kavinsky avec la même émotion qui me prend au plus profond de mon être. Au moment de quitter ce monde j'aimerais écouter une dernière fois cet aria sublime.
Wow. You can hear so many interpretations of this (one of the most beautiful) opera aria. This is in any case one of the best if not the best of all. What of a great work of the orchestra and especally of Susan Kavinski including such a feeling and desire
searched this from bicentennial man, found lucia popp which was astonishing, searched for natalie dessay version couldnt find it, found this, even after several listens to other people, this still blew me away, magical.
It's no crime, Ms. Struckmeyer! I was a Sea Chanter and toured as a soloist with the concert band and sang and performed so much more than my civilian colleagues ever did. And in so doing, I was able to bridge the divide between my training years and my professional free-lance years. This is a privilege.
Absolut fantastische Stimme, eine wunderbare Arie und auch noch tschechisch gesungen. Die Sprache ist für Fremde sehr schwierig. Ein wunderbares Orchester. Vielen Dank für dieses Video.
How good is that? The USA Navy Band, simply brilliant & the incredible voice of Musician First Class Susan Kavinski. Enough to bring tears to any ones eyes through sheer delight.
Susan Kavinsky shows a surprisingly good pronunciation of Czech and the subtitles convey the very romantic character of the song. Beautiful arrangement and video production. Simply a wonderful find - the best I have seen so far on TH-cam... thank you.
Absolutely thrilling, goosebumps all through, the soprano is top class and the orchestration is both daring and interesting and the band delivers beautifully.
Это просто бесконечно потрясающе. Великолепно - это лишь дешевое поклонение того, что я услышал. Это была просто магия голоса. Волшебство голоса. Очарование голоса. Звуки, сразившие меня наповал
Bravo , from Czechoslovakia , realy good , your articulate is good for us , not like Rene Fleming or another singer Choi Jung Won. Subtitle are good , because it have big idea.
To the person who commented about the compensation of the enlisted personnel in the military bands. They come into the band at an E-6 pay grade which is base pay of about $30,000 per year plus 30 days leave per year, military housing or allowance, and additional allowances for subsistence. The Navy Band web site estimates that the total compensation package for someone living off base and with no dependents is around $55,000 per year and for someone with dependents, who gets a larger housing allowance, it's about $62,000. A large portion of that is free of taxes. So someone good enough to get into the band does a lot better than a beginning school music teacher or a member of a smaller professional orchestra.

I just stumbled across this video. Susan Kavinsky is outstanding.
She nailed it so beautifully. I have heard an angel sing.
As a member of the Marine base enlisted band, our duty was to promote and teach. She and the band is phenomenal.
AGREED
That is one of the very finest sopranos I've ever heard in my life. Amazing on all levels.
I hope we hear more from this truly excellent singer!

Wonderfully performed. She certainly seems to understand the language. Well done to all players, very sensitive touch and no strings.
Other than her incomparable soprano ,
there were no sopranos that conveyed the waves of excitement and impression to the depths of my soul . 🍎
She's very good. No superficial modification, an attempt to understand and reduce the song to its purest expression.
I much prefer this approach to the song.
I don't like the takes that overdo the glissandos and make a too mature sound.
Wow! A first rate performance of one of the great arias and Susan Kavinski's singing of this piece right up there with my favorites by Frederica Von Stade and Leontyne Price.
I was mesmerized. She has a beautiful voice.
It is a good thing this is on TH-cam because it were a vinyl record, I would have played all the groves off by now.
Gorgeous voice, and great arrangement by Scott Silbert!
i think i like this arrangement more than the original,
Bravi tutti! What a beautiful voice and first oboist! So tasteful!!!!!
It's one of thing that makes me proud Czech. It's so nice to hear my language sung all over the world
WOW THEY ARE REALLY GOOD, & SHE IS SUPERB, AS GOOD AS ANY OPERA STAR I HAVE HEARD, WHICH AMAZES ME.
Beautiful, beautiful oh so very beautiful..admittedly I am NOT an Opera Buff but SO WHAT???..I can appreciate lovely singing voices.

When are we going to hear another recording featuring this stellar soprano? I am waiting.....
Beside the gift of singing, one needs military discipline to achieve the art of singing on such high level. This is "Fabulous" ♥.
