    hypoxia is an oxygen deficiency in your body. It's not only the "lack on partial pressure" that type of hypoxia is called hypoxic hypoxia and there are actually 4 types.

    • @mattnorthrup7852
      @mattnorthrup7852 7 ปีที่แล้ว +32

      I have never heard it as "lack of partial pressure," only that is is oxygen deficiency

    • @KutWrite
      @KutWrite 7 ปีที่แล้ว +24

      Yes, the lowered partial pressure is one CAUSE of hypoxia.
      But... well... that guy not only got hired, but is and instructor AND recruiter. Thus, as in the military, study the "school solution."

    What? Hypoxia's broad definition is a lack of oxygen to the body's vital organs, the brain in particular.

  • @jaxav8r
    @jaxav8r 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    So when you interview with an airline ... in order to pass the sim eval, you need to fly the aircraft they’re hiring you for - even if you’ve never flow that aircraft type previously? Is it different for regionals and majors perhaps?

  • @TonyP9279
    @TonyP9279 8 ปีที่แล้ว +25

    I failed already. I thought "oxygen" would be the better answer. Afterall, 21% of 3 psi IS a lack of oxygen.

    • @Bryanzebox
      @Bryanzebox 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hypoxia is the reduction in oxygen in the body’s tissue.. if we wanted to get specific in what he was saying.. it’s hypoxic hypoxia that is caused by lack of sufficient pressure to allow O2 diffusion into the blood possible..
      There’s also anaemic (reduction in O2 carrying capacity), stagnant( blockage of circulation), and histotoxic (interference with body tissue using O2)

Say the only experience I have with airplanes is making paper airplanes when I was a kid, but I think when I get in the cockpit I will just pick up on what to do. I was really good at Afterburner, Top Gun and Ace Combat so this will be a breeze.

      Most pilots don't fly for the money. You fly because you love it. Eventually, if you get to th emajors, they money is there. Some captains in the majors make over $200k.

      @motormadness9975 8 ปีที่แล้ว +16

      Not true. Not true at all. Let's estimate 4 years at a regional carrier. SkyWest as an example. In those four years, you'll make between 34k and 42k a year with the minimum guaranteed 76 flight hours a month. Then say you move on to Southwest. First year FO pay at minimum guaranteed hours would be roughly 80k, then by your second year you're making twice the average salary in the US at about 104k. By the time you become a captain (Several years but depends on demand) you are making over 200k, and onward and upward maxing out at around 250k for Southwest. But queens-nyc is right. You don't do it for the money, you love it and you don't care, but contrary to popular belief it can be very rewarding and many make more than lawyers and doctors with a good pension and mandatory retirement at 65.

    • @jasonwall2861
      @jasonwall2861 7 ปีที่แล้ว +21

      What are you talking about? Delta Captains make 200,000 a year. You just have to get there. You go to a Regional, pay your dues, and move onto a Major. That's how it works! Although you are right, I fly because I love it! But no one should say that you don't make anything either

      The info seems to fit 2013, still has a ton of irrelevant subjective lazy-HR criteria.(things to arbitrarily reduce the size applicant pool) Like fashion beyond neat and clean; or briefing Jepp charts, maybe a candidate is coming from a company that didn't use Jepp charts and it is fairly insignificant training to move from FAA to Jepp.

    I've never heard bigger BS, dude I fly C172 in my free time and most days at work consist of 4 sectors of 45 minutes with 40 minute turnarounds. Do you seriously believe that the coffee stains in my logbook are a sign of being unprofessional!? Man, on the 4th sector of the day after having been awake since 2:30am, I care about flying the aircraft safely, not about pretty handwriting...

I think about all the friends that went flying in the buttholes of earth to stay current, and that I had the honor to fly with. That bears no "score" obviously. We watched a video about a pilot processing worker from a pilot processing factory. Again, how sad, when the human is pushed out of the loop like that

    4:54 this guy totally fibbed in his log book... You can tell by the tone of his voice; how it changes when talking about doing it. Lol. I'm probably 100% wrong about him doing that but I thought it was just funny that he needed to mention this. What kind of imbecile would actually do that?

    If your customers are worried about little jimmy looking too young to be an airline pilot, then maybe you should start allowing well groomed short beards. You know, since it’s not the 1950s anymore. God forbid a pilot have a beard...

      Beards interfere with the seal on the emergency oxygen masks. Similar reason why many firefighters and certain crew on ships can't have beards. Not as much about keeping in the O2 it is also about keeping out smoke and toxic fumes from fire.

    Young pilot will make people less nervous? Load of bollocks.
    How do you think a 'young pilot' accumulate higher flight hours than senior pilots? They can't, simply cannot. This is why I will always trust older pilots than the younger ones. Yes of course, that old pilots maybe actually have less flight hours than the younger ones, but at least their appearance will fool me to think that they already accumulate so many flight hours and actually a veteran.

      I'm quite confident he was saying that a young pilot is actually off-putting because of their age and - as you say - assumed lack of experience. Thus, with so many pilots being extremely young these days, right out of some sort of collegiate program, looking professional and put-together is more important than ever.

    Question;
    1. Is your neighbor’s wife hot? ( finds out if you’re going to get sexual harassment by banging a flight attendant).
    2. Would you consider Oprah Winfrey fat or ugly? Answer, is both. ( this finds out if you’re going to be a big union man.
    3. Toilet paper from top or bottom? ( finds out if you’re lazy) best to say top.
    4. What sexual position is your wife’s favorite? Answer, is ask my last flight instructor.
    5. What can you do with a slice of cheese and a piece of bread? Answer is -live on it for a week.
    6. Can you ride a bicycle? Answer yes, (because you won’t be able to buy gas for a car on your first gig.)
    If they offer you the job Be sure to ask for some Subway sandwich coupons.

      The most crucial thing for you at this point in time is to become much better at English. English is the universal language in aviation. The most challenging thing for most people is money. Depending on where you live, be prepared to spend 40,000$-120,000$ on training. If you have absolutely perfect health and have good enough grades, you may be able to get your flight training in your countries military. Don't let those things discourage you though. As long as you REALLY want to be a pilot, and you LOVE flying, you can do it. This isn't a job that accidentally falls into your lap. You have you yearn every day for it.
      On the bright side, airline pilots are in very high demand right now. As long as you take all the necessary steps and make all of the necessary sacrifices, you're almost guaranteed to find a pilot job somewhere in the world (Especially in China or the U.S.A).

      Just grow up a fly boy or girl, join the air force, pilot transport jets (or if you're lucky) combat jets for 3-5 years. The airlines will pretty much automatically take you given prior military experience.
