SIDI Adventure 2 Gore-Tex Boots REVIEW

  • This is my opinion on one of the most popular adventure boots on the market. I will go as far to call them "the best" adventure boots on the market. I'm really impressed by the Sidi Adventure 2 Gore-tex boots and how well they support my feets when riding. I can highly recommend them.
    If you are looking for new boots, go to your local shop, try out different sizes and models to see what fits your feet best. Leave some room in them for bigger socks and make sure your toe's dont slide into the front inside when you walk.
    All new boots feel stiff brand new. They always need a little break in period. So just take my word for it, they will become really good after some break in.

    Hello from Canada!
    Great video! I've had my Sidi Adv Gortex boots for over 6 years with no issues and still love them. Toe box is a bit narrower than I'd like, but not unbearable. I love the squeak! It makes people turn around and notice the lone adventure guy suited up and far from home. A great conversation starter!
    I really want to get over there and ride Norway!!!
    Cheers, and be safe out there!

    I liked your review. I bought a pair today to replace old Rossi leather road boots as they offered poor protection against impact, cold, or wet. The difference is just 'WOW'!
    I was a postie in South Melbourne for years, and after a 10 year hiatus have taken the role again, but in country Victoria. The bike itself can be dangerous to feet and lower legs when it slides in mud. These Sidi's offer a level of comfort and protection far beyond my expectations.

    I've owned my Adventure 2s nearly a couple of years too. Agree with everything you say, they're a great versatile boot. Haha, these reviews are pure entertainment! 😂 Also, going the extra step of actually showing what you talk about makes these reviews so much better. Well done! 👏🏻 Also, I'm curious to know how you did those text reveal shots in the beginning! I wanted to do that for one of my videos after seeing you use Fusion in your Outline Travel Map-video, but couldn't quite figure how to do it.

    • @tshansen
      @tshansen  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I appreciate that mate 🔥👏🏻 I personally think that it is absolutely key to show footage of what you are talking about to get some context and better understanding of your point. And that makes the language barrier much easier also.
      The text revel shot's are only easy masking in the color page of davinci. You can do it both in the color and the fusion page. I'm not sure if you use davinci, but the tracking and masking in the color page of davinci is really powerful. I duplicate my video and ad a text layer between the shots (stack on top of each other) and use the curve tool in the power window to mask out the video above and track or keyframe the mask trough the length of the clip 🙈Good idea... if i can't find a easy video of that, i would try to make a tutorial of it myself. Cheers Kristian

    Beautiful boots and great review. Like my Toucans, the "weak link" to me remains the velcro instead of a buckle on top making almost half the boot relatively unsafe. I actually wrap the top with a strap having no confidence the velcro will to much of anything

    • @tshansen
      @tshansen  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Why do you find the Velcro bit unsafe on the upper parts of the boots? Do you have any experience with boots opening up and damage the foot in slide? I work as a first responder i have never seen such a problem at all. I can see the har enduro guys having issues with branches sticking out and can puncture the leg, but with normal adventure riding? Interesting! This is probably a individual thing. I remember back in the days, when i was in the military. One guy had to sleep with his feet outside the tent (eight people) because of the insane smell. And i know gore-tex is a breathable membrane, but inside a shoe, it only make it more condense. I had Sidi Adventure (1st gen) for little over two years, and I must agree they are near to perfect adventure boot. But, they miss for one important point, durability. I'm really not the only one who has had problems with durability of Sidi Adventure. My left boot started leaking just after the two years warranty was over. It was not funny riding one week in Norway between -2 and +10 degrees C in rain whit wet foot. Since the warranty was over, Sidi importeur didn't replace my boot, but I wrote to Gore-Tex, sent my boots for inspection to Germany and got a new pair of Sidi Adventure 2 for free. I may have kept them, but the other problem of Sidi is the narrow fit. So I sold the boots I got for replacement and bought TCX Baja Gore Tex. They are not just as well finished and not just as sturdy than Sidis, but they have lasted two seasons now and kept my feet dry. Before the first Sidi pair I had Oxtar (TCX) Infinity GTX and they lasted over eight years keeping my feet warm and dry.

    • @tshansen
      @tshansen  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I find the durability to be quite good (so far) on the SIDI's but we have to remember what heavy use some of the boot's go trough with everything we trow at them. A leaky membrane can be alot of different factors. I have had my share of leaky hiking boots with gore-tex membrane. But yes, i agree... a boot like this should last longer than two years. Wet shoes and feet are to be avoided at all coast. In my early years of riding, i used plastic bag's on my feet to keep warm and dry when it rained 🤣I see alot of people taking about the narrow foot in the SIDI, a good option is the Alpinestars, they are wider. But i tried both and could not feel that much of a difference. Yes i know this is a individual thing. Infinity? never heard of those? I know there is another brand that are crazy expensive but have really good quality. Not sure about the name. Thank you for this comment. Stay safe mate. Cheers 🔥

    I don't remember what brand mine are (not Sidi, though) - and I don't really adventure ride much on my '86 GSX ES, but I agree you should go for YOUR perfect "marriage" of comfort and protection. Mine protect my ankles and the sole of my foot, they are reasonably waterproof (I only got wet once, on a 300 km ride in constant rain, but in fairness, ALL of me was wet at that point), very comfortable to walk in - I've walked 10 km on a dirt road, and 15 km on asphalt.
    Edit: And for some mysterious reason, they don't utterly stink all the time! I think the product info said the inner lining had some anti-bacterial lining or something...

    • @tshansen
      @tshansen  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, it is up to each and everyone to judge for them self what is safe enough for their use. Haha, so there is no guaranty of the boots leaking or just water traveling down you legs then 🤣 Yeah, I have heard the same... and i do think that is just jumbo mumbo from the marketing, trying to sell more boots. Smell is bacteria and there is no magical lining that will prevent that 🤣

    Excellent review! Sidi makes great products and I use their Crossfire SRS3 boots for motocross riding. Just curious your opinion about having a heal on a boot. Most moto/enduro/trials boots have a flat sole. Do you notice the small rise on the sole at the heal of the boot while riding? I currently use the Gaerne Balance oiled boots which have a flat sole for trials riding and adventure bike riding. The Garene's are leather and probably do offer as much protection as the Sidi Adventure boots but are very comfortable for both riding and walking in.

    • @tshansen
      @tshansen  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you Sir 😊To be honest, i have never thought about it... the heal on the boot! But with my kind of riding and position on the pegs this is not an issue, and the heal would probably make the shoe better for walking, compared to the enduro boots. (not sure) But as i said, it has never crosses my mind, take into the equation that i use EU48 in shoe size 🙈 I heard alot of great things about Gearne, but i'm not sure if anyone has it in store here in my town.

    I tried the Sidi Adventure 2 at first but they are like an Alfa Romeo: too small for me, especially there is no space for my toes from left to right side. Nevertheless great boots.
    My second candidate were Alpinestars Toucan, also Italian but a bit wider in the front region. They fit much better to my feets so I'm wearing them since 1.000 km. Walking is easy and I have warm feets with regular hiking socks, even at 5°C in the dark. With one or the other pair of these boots you have the right ADV gear. BTW the Adventure Spec Mongolia pants (36, regular) fit easy and well over the Alpinestars Toucan (47).

Mine was a little bit uncomfortable at the ankle, so I had to adjust the strop a little bit out, and as times goes I tighten it a little bit more. for me this was just a issue on the left boot. I think it can be some of the materials under that folds differently or something? And somedays, even now I can feel a little bit of pain in the lumps on the side of the foot. the two hard ones that are just over the ankle. Hope that was a answer to your question? Cheers
