    Excellent video as always, Nick! We have asked Dufour for official permission to rename the sail locker on all sales particulars and we will refer to it as nothing else moving forward 😂😂. See you again soon.

    Finally a boat that doesn't seem 300% overpriced. I like it.

    • @PreservationEnthusiast
      @PreservationEnthusiast 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yeah don't forget it's got a sail. Who can be @$$Ed with messing with those nowadays?!
      It's also got a puny little engine. Not having twin powerful ones and associated kit will reduce the cost a lot.
      People want fast motor yachts, not piddling along at 5 knots in a light breeze and having to priss around with the rigging every 10 mins.
      And the boat builders are still making a massive wedge. A sail boat probably only costs 350k to knock together and they are hawking it out for 550k.
      Welcome to boat building where the rich and wealthy get fleeced. Some clients will pay silly prices for a bespoke craft and the boatbuilders know it!

    • @MagicTammi
      @MagicTammi 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I wouldn't want a boat like that though. I want one with proper engines that you can do 30 miles per hour and razz all over the Med.

      @PreservationEnthusiast Have you been in the marine manufacturing business long..? 🤔

    • @stijntakesitall
      @stijntakesitall 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      @@PreservationEnthusiast that is just your opinion. Sailing is wonderful and a completely different experience than going fast and burning lots of fuel. Sailing can offer much more in my opinion.

    • @PreservationEnthusiast
      @PreservationEnthusiast 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@AQUAHOLIC I don't need to be in the marine manufacturing industry. Whenever you have luxury goods with bespoke finishes and extremely wealthy people with very large disposable incomes, certain things are going to happen!
      At least my mark up was only 57%. You should be talking to OP who thinks typical mark up is 300% 😊

    Dufour, an old name & very popular many many years ago. But generally smaller boats back then. The yellow lighting in the main saloon didn't do the light wood any favours, the forward cabin looked so much better without it. Over all it looked a little functional in the trim department considering it was a hi spec boat as you mentioned. That said a big boat for the money.

    that kind of propulsion system should really be the standard going forward.
    if properly implemented it gives you the best of both worlds and ideally means you rarely going to need the diesel engine while at the same time giving you redundancy if either of the two motors fails for any reason.
    Ive recently seen that in a video from the well known Sailing channel Gone with the Wynns where they had a problem with one of the diesel engines on their catamaran and simply used the electric motor on that side while running the diesel engine on the other.

    Hello Nick! My personal goal while watching each of your videos is to try to determine what watch you are wearing. Sometimes you make it quite easy by gesturing with your left hand as you did with this video revealing your Pepsi Rolex GMT Master. Other videos I’ve been required to pause and zoom in on reflections while attempting to figure it out. Sometime you should do a short about your obviously extensive collection! Keep up the great work!

    What a beautiful sail boat. I love the electric motor idea. Though the concern for me is how dangerous the batteries might be. Like the ekectric cars that somehow get water into their batteries or have a bad short due to an accident and the car burns into the asphalt because the fire departments have no way to extinguish them if the start burning and are forced to water the local areas around the car to keep that from starting on fire as well and let it burn itself out.
    Can you imagine being off the coast, hours from rescue and your battery bursts into flames?
    I would rather have an electric motor powered by generator as the electric motors are more efficient and push more power to the shafts because they require no transmission. Just an on/off switch and a throttle to increase and decrease the power. You can shut them down with no issues and if you are in a really bad storm and your stern keeps coming out of the water, the turning of the shaft is not going to damage the nonexistent transmission or the electric motor, as to stop the shaft turning all you have to do is reduce power to zero when it comes up and shove the throttle forward when it goes back down.

    Hi Nick. There's a hell of a lot to like about Dufour Sailboats, if you restrict your Sailing to the Mediterranean. I was personally extremely interested in vying the new 44, but they have refused point blank to build one for me with a shallow enough Draft of 4 feet 6 inches, for outside the Med ! Even though I had sourced, and was prepared today for the custom design , build, and delivery to the Factory of a Canadian made Lead Wing Keel, which could give me what I actually need - a draft shallow enough for the Bahamas, and other great anchoring spots around the Caribben, safe travel along the ICW, and so many other places, and I may still resort to ordering their joke of a shallow Draft, and Sail it up to an excellent Boatyard in Massachusetts, and have them fir a Custom Wing Keel for me there, but tbh, I may as well buy another make of boat, which supplies them with Yanmar inboard diesels, and save a pile of money in the process? Dufour have turned out to be as big a disappointment as Elan Yachts, sad to say. Best Wishes. Bob. PS. Great Boat Four by the way. 🤔🌟🌟🌟👍

    So you can have an electric motor that would charge from the generator. Guessing that’s diesel?? So what’s the point of an electric motor 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️ surely solar panels would be better for charging.

    My last name. No relation unfortunately. If the family wants to claim me I won’t object.

    I'm getting strong 'caravan in rhyl' vibes from the woodwork and fittings. Just looks cheap not luxurious in any way.

    Well designed boat maximising every inch inside and nice bright materials too. Usual 10/10 Nick. Have you considered doing this for a living?

    This boat is a laugh. Totally useless at sea. No handrails to hold on to, the saloon becomes a dangerous place when heeling. Just as the galley where there is no way to brace yourself when heeling.
    Nice boat for the marina. But that is not what sailing yachts are built for…

      I was also concerned about the hand rails which look very flimsy.

    The heads in the owners suite had what looked like a pull up, stick shower head in it as well, like they have in smaller boats.
