Full Disclosure: Woodcut Tools sent me this carving stand for free to review and evaluate.
In this video I unbox the Woodcut Tools Pro Mount Carving Stand and set it up for use on my lathe. This carving stand is similar to the carving stand made by Trent Bosch with some notable differences, one being the ability to use a vacuum chuck. I purchased the Trent Bosch Carving Stand a few years ago so perhaps I'll do a future video doing a comparison.
The Woodcut Tools Pro Mount Carving stand is a great piece of kit if you're interested on embellishing your turned pieces. It's called a carving stand but it comes in handy for pyrography and painting as well. Being able to leave your piece mounted on your chuck for placement on the carving stand is simply brilliant and if you need to, you can return the piece back to the lathe while leaving it firmly mounted on the chuck. This should keep the piece running true (less any wood movement). If you're looking for a carving stand for your lathe setup, definitely give this one a solid look

    So it's just an adjustable holder. ! ! !

its a bit more than that but yes, its an adjustable holder. It allows you to transfer your work from the lathe to something else without having to remove it from the chuck. You can then adjust the piece for carving. Its true, I probably could have done similar carving if I left the piece on the lathe but then I'd have to had sat on the headstock which would have been a bit uncomfortable. Saying this device is "just an adjustable holder" is like saying the lathe is just thing that spins wood with a motor (which it basically is)
