No bullshit I have a big ass studio mad controllers as well as many different daws but I must say my production didn’t even come close to what it is now that I own a stand alone unit Mpc is were it’s at shout out to native instruments and the catalog of sounds but mpc stand-alone is what hip trap or anything in that genre needs I swear!
great video work on this, love the colour grading and great story telling. packing up the sources for another day... very melancholy. hmm yes I think it was raining somewhere....
yes sir!! do u sample drums direct into the mp? *and just a tip for anyone considering getting into beatmaking, do your homework, put in your time.... and for the love of god, buy a turntable!!
Any suggestions on a turntable? I don’t own one... nor do I own any vinyls (well, my family has an old record player that’s massive and some vinyls)... seems it would be expensive to get into. I did just buy an MPC2000XL though.
MIDERA u dont need a fancy turntable. Madlib samples off of vestax portable which is not on the level of audiophiles turntable at all. You worry about wrong things.
these videos are so relaxing, love the format and the great videography. got my first MPC(1000) in 2017, got a live 2 last year and it is my favorite piece of music gear/instrument/whatever i've ever owned. having a ton of synths built-in (and mellotron!!) changes the game, as does sampling in directly from your phone. i've started getting some analog gear (old tascam mixer specifically) to kind of make up for the fact that i sample in digitally sometimes. all different tools in the toolbox! thanks!
This is soooo good, thank you. I am a big fan of your work, looking up your tutorials for MPC LIVE and checking bandcamp. Thanks for teaching us how to use the legendary mpc's!
Love your beats and tutorials! Can't wait for the tape! Question for ya: What type of cartridge do you use for sampling? Do you go with a hifi setup or something a bit more rugged that can survive all the needle drops?

How do you feel about the 2000xl now that the X is your main MPC in your studio? Does it stand up to the new MPC units or is it obsolete?
Never obsolete, I'll use many more times in the future.
