  • My latest Facebook find. A $100 hay elevator with a 1950 Briggs & Stratton 5s motor. This thing is so cool. Watch to see if we can put it back in service at Dexter Ranch!!

Nice to see you back online! Great job on your fence, as well. Looks like you've been putting in some work around there. I took your advice and started our own TH-cam channel! Thanks for the encouragement!!

Looks like a fun project. You've got it figured out. Those oil filled filters have to be level, you put it on more than just a slight angle and you're dumping the oil into the air stream. I'd try to retrofit an oiled foam sock or gauze filter onto it and retire the original one.

Electric would probably be a little more dependable lol

You going to small squares now? You will have to fab up a pair of transport tires for it, we moved skeleton elevators like that with muscle, that got old..............I finished up planting a piece we rented in the next county one time and the owner told me he was going to get his elevator setup to put in some hay, offered to help and he looked at me weird and left, a few minutes later around the corner he come, backing the elevator up with his ATV............He told me I could raise up the winch to lift it and that would be great. I thought to myself, boy we were stupid.

Lol yeah it would be much easier with some wheels for sure. I’m not going to square bales, but I did buy alfalfa this year for winter protein. Ended up filling up the entire lower level of my barn. Figured I should get me something to put it this next years batch up stair so it’s not in my way. Hope all is well. Thanks for watching sir!

I would run it a few times to see if it stops smoking.

I agree. Hoping it will clean up after that oil gets down. Seems to have the power it needs. Thank for watching!
