it's the subtle "don't forget to like this video if you liked it if you like" snuck in at the end for me. this whole video felt oddly comforting, but that bit was the nostalgic cherry on top.
I'm great at step 1 (make tea), step 2 (look around) and step 3 (take a little rest). Now anything beyond that sadly not so much. 😂 Also, my life goal was to own a Dyson. I bought one 5 years ago on Black Friday and I have zero regrets.
Hear me out: microfibre mop instead of a vacuum cleaner. Your floors look pretty smooth so it would be effective, plus you can just take the mop head off and bung it in the washing machine and then it's good to go again. Nice and sustainable plus easy and quiet so great for flat living. Plus the Sharks are expensive and not necessarily that long-life, so you'll have to replace it a few years down the road. Also I can't believe leaving cleaning suggestions is the person I have become. 💖💖
I'm just imagining one of your neighbours being accidentally given your parcel and going to return it only to be let in and find ALL their furniture they thought they'd chucked, now living inside your flat.
That bin room seems like it's been a treasure trove! I'm also motivated to organize my kitchen cabinets now too, haven't thought about organization since I moved in a year ago, it's probably time for a change.
so many cupboards do that thing where they go round to the back and you can't see half of what's in there, its rather annoying Loved the bin room room though
my parents very generously got me a Shark hoover for christmas and that was when I realized that I am old. I was so excited and never in my life have I hoovered this much.
I feel so seen by this video! Moved into my own tiny place last summer and have just been nodding along with everything: thrifted furniture? check. put everything in the kitchen cabinets to sort through later because it was mostly empty in the beginning anyway and now it's overloaded but I've never gotten around to actually sort it? check. moving stuff around to feel accomplished and reset ✨ check. paint a wooden endtable half white: check. sit down on the sofa for a quick little rest, then fall asleep and wake up in a half-chaotic flat the next morning: check. And as always: every daniel j. layton video: an absolute treat.
For the black marks on the wall get some magic erasers! They’re little scrubbers that are great for those types of marks. Just make sure to use them wet - i didn’t realize that the first time and couldn’t figure out why they didn’t work.
Can I just say how lovely it is that you're posting more again x it's so lovely to see how honest you are about how difficult shit can be but its beautiful to see you just pick yourself up and carry on with it x all the love in the world
the PG point and then finger wag / hip shake was so cute and funny 😂😂😂 also A+ bin room tour. my two past apartments did that but outside near the dumpster, so you had to get to things before the weather did. youve inspired me to see if i want anything moved around in my space! this almost-spring is such a good time for it ❤
You need a baking tray organiser for in your cupboard, they're cheap from B&M or The Range. It holds them all up vertically making them accessible and tidy! You're welcome.
i've just done this to my own room, slowly over the past month or so. moved some stuff around, got some organising done, decluttered a bit, and it's so satisfying !! i love my space so much now ! wishing you the best for your reorganisation journey
Sabra (cactus fruit) Liquor is produced locally for me and I love it plain but it is also good with a fruity cocktail. So fruit juice and sprite with it.
I moved the furniture in my room a couple of weeks ago and it's so satisfying, omg, it feels like a different place and it's totally worth it. It took me a long time to clean and organize everything (and I'm technically not even finished yet), but I'm really happy with the result. It makes me very happy to see other people doing it too and I love the new shelf place!
I just came home from a couple of days' trip to a friend's and im unpacking and i have rice cooking for a little rice bowl its like we're hanging out its real nice
I’ve been putting off my office space for a while because I don’t know how to get it nice… I think it’s just about fussing with it and keep moving things around until they tell you they’re in the right spot? Love the progress you’ve made so far
The only upside to having to move 13 times in the last 9 years is that ive gotten REALLY good at de cluttering. If I haven’t used it or thought about it in a year it’s gone. And also making sure to only buy furniture that’s versatile in most spaces. It’s why I’ve opted for just more mounted shelves in recent years instead of furniture. Feels cleaner, less shit to move, and the shelves work pretty much everywhere.
Ooooooh, now there’s an idea!! I wanted to put some form of tracks in but I don’t think I could install them without damage, so a lazy Susan is a brilliant shout!
Just happened to be swishing water around my mouth after eating when Voldemort’s negroni sbagliato hit and when I tell you I SPIT across the ROOM - 11/10 always delighted for a little bit of This with Daniel J.
Dan. I've lived in two apartment blocks that both had communal storage rooms where the bins were also stored. Are you sure you're not just stealing from storage? 😅
I'm watching this as if it's an instruction manual because I usually stop after 01:37 "I've earned a little rest". Going to practice my HelloFresh spon, maybe that's the secret ingredient 😅

@@DanLayton hahaha! it was more of a helpful reminder that sometimes we leave things the way they are but they don't have to be that way! both in our kitchens and in our lives! 😆 but I do like the idea that you reorganized my kitchen for me, and I will of course give you credit for that if someone should ask
Would it help reduce the black marks on the wall if you got some stick-on felt furniture pads and cut them to the size of the bits of the shelving unit that comes in contact with the wall?
What is this magical bin room and how can one acquire one? Meanwhile, I have to lurk around my neighbourhood on bin day like a gremlin for any potential treasure
I love that you're using what you already have. If you did want to buy furniture, is Facebook marketplace popular in London? I feel like you could find cheap or even free stuff that way to be budget friendly. Also, flailing over the 'Only Murders' pull-over!!!
I’ve found FB Marketplace to be a deeply confusing place! But I’ve sold on Gumtree a few times! Would definitely use it again in the future, although with the Bin Room I can’t say I’ve needed it…
I think a lot of people in my building are students who don’t want to take things back! That, and they just have super low standards for what’s considered “not salvageable” and I will take full advantage
i watched you vacuuming and thought 'ooh i'll leave a comment asking what hoover you use bc my mum hates hers and wants a new one' and then it cut to you saying "this hoover is SHIT"
There’s something so comforting about watching someone else sort out their life while hiding my own mess
Less than a 30 second clip and I'm obsessed with Daniel J casually perusing a bin room
It’s an alarmingly regular occurrence
that bin room is like a target but free
I would shop in that bin room
it's the subtle "don't forget to like this video if you liked it if you like" snuck in at the end for me. this whole video felt oddly comforting, but that bit was the nostalgic cherry on top.

COST OF LIVING BE DAMNED
i second that

Well now THAT’s an idea…
I love that idea! I'll definitely get that! I hate the sound of any vacuum I ever heard...

didn't realise how much i'd missed the "like it if you like it if you like" outro 'til now ahahha dodes should bring it back
I think I re watched the bit of editing Dan about 100 times and still laughed... So relatable.
Recommend pasting those anti-mark things that you put under chair legs, on the shelf that leans on the wall. Less marks on the walls!
jealous of your bin room, ours had lego covered in blood recently
....I have so many questions
Glorious video! Thank you! Also, Volderoni Spagliato (with Prosecco init) made me CACKLE!!!

This feels like a cosy Sunday morning at home and I’m so here for it
less than 2mins into the vid but can I just say that your 'PG' mug is wonderfully british
my parents very generously got me a Shark hoover for christmas and that was when I realized that I am old. I was so excited and never in my life have I hoovered this much.
i cannot stop rewatching the delivery of "I might have to start drinking" at 9:36 - pure gold
I actually took this video as an opportunity to give my place a little cleaning alongside you.

I love the cactus liquor. I get it every time I go to Malta! I usually put it in lemonade. It makes a really nice summery drink!
I haven't heard "Don't forget to like it if you like it, if you like" in what feels like YEARS 🤗
i love darth vader from the bin room
I found him when I came home drunk and I brought him upstairs because I thought he might be lonely

The largess of that bin room is astounding. I am jealous!

You’re so pretty wtf😭 you’re gorgeous and funny help me
and he’s BEEN gorgeous and funny
New habits, good headspace and a flat reset all sounds like an ideal vibe for another Too Much Stuff vlog
Duly noted ;)
Ugh I need to clean. Love ya Dan!
New bedtime routine is watching Dan vids ✨
You could try a lazy susan/carousel in that deep corner cupboard! Pretty sure they have them at ikea as well
Ooooooh, now there’s an idea!! I wanted to put some form of tracks in but I don’t think I could install them without damage, so a lazy Susan is a brilliant shout!
Yay a Dan video!!!
Wide plate racks are brilliant for most crockery and pans/trays and make it so you're playing sheet pan jenga every time you wanna cook.

happy to help with the drinking xx
This video made me realize there's a different way I could organize my kitchen cabinets that would work way better so you're doing good work!
So what you’re saying is I’m so bad at organising my kitchen that I’ve somehow organised yours instead…
@@DanLayton hahaha! it was more of a helpful reminder that sometimes we leave things the way they are but they don't have to be that way! both in our kitchens and in our lives! 😆

Almost the same, but "The most important step is the NEXT one" is from the Stormlight Archive books
Not the Dodie 'like if you liked it, if you like' at the end 🤣
Love you Dan! Also definitely saw the rest extending coming, that's so relatable
love the omitb hoodie!! also great video overall. your dry sense of humor really cracks me up lol

Dang just ordered my first hf box last night

just so you know, you're doing way better at it than I am. I can do one tiny task per free day and then that's it.. brain full.

the fact that peole are leaving all that nice furniture be the goddamn garbage!! Thats a hell of a score glad they got scooped up!!
Your bin room is better than many of the charity furniture shops round here. Bloody Londoners will all their disposable income.
Look, trying to stay here means I have no disposable income of my own, so I’ll take theirs willingly haha
Hello Fresh Sponsor? Now we're in the big time
Hello fresh has made an excellent decision.
Can we please make bin room vlogs a regular occurrence?
"I'll sort them out in a bit." Story of my life. 😕
What kind of bin room is this haha
where did you get the omitb hoodie :)
Leaving a comment for the algorithm
I want to visit the bin room. maybe you should trademark 'the bin room' and sell your fidge magnets there...
From a little shack in the corner of the bin room made of discarded desks and patio furniture
How do I get access to the bin room tm
All the bin room furniture is actually super nice 😂 .. why was it in there
