The return of PMS has made the world a better place
The world might be burning, but once a month, we get to grab a cup of tea and forget about it for a little while. I'm so thankful this is back ❤️
You're pretty much the only creator from the 2013-2016 TH-cam boom that I still love and watch every video wholeheartedly! Everyone else has kinda faded off my radar at some point or another, but your energy and approach to videos is just my taste, and I always look forward to your next video. So nice to hear you're in a happy relationship! They're lovely, aren't they?

I'm just back from a night out (an evening out more likely as I'm in my 40s and it's a weekday for the love of God) and on the train ride back I could think of nothing but "PMS is back, gotta watch that!" So here I am, at half past midnight, would you even, with a cuppa in hand and a cheesy sambo and I'm loving how warm, comforting and familiar it is to see you monthly vlogging again. Thank you for being back, Dan, I didn't realize just how much I've missed this format. And thanks for the healthy boundaries - I think we can all learn a thing or three from this approach to life online.

I am BEYOND happy that PMS is back! In 2016 when I was in my first year of university, it was such a comforting thing to wait for and enjoy each month. Being in a new place with no friends was a huge challenge, and having PMS each month made me feel a little less alone. Now, in 2023, I have just started at a new job (where I am very important and busy, which is giving me incredible imposter syndrome) and haven't been able to see my friends as much as I'd like (because they are also all very busy), and after one video PMS is just as comforting now as it was back then. Thank you for sharing these little snippets of your life with us, Dan
I discovered the 2017-ish UK vlogging scene all of 5 months ago, and if it's making a comeback, I am *here* for it! Daniel J. Layton, you are a delight.

When my depression and health were bad this and Chloe's little moments made me feel less trapped in my small life/appartment/broken body. I couldn't get out into the world and experience such things but I could at least see it was out there and be happy for those who did get to see and do these things. Even if it was as simple has hangingnout with friends. Sadly my life is still small, my health still shitty, but Im mentally in a slightly better place to accept that rather than being dragged down by it. I may not need ths escape the way I used to but it is really nice to see this back. Part of it is nostalgia, part of it is just likely this sort of thing, but mostly Im just always happy to see Dan has posted.
this series as a whole is such a comfort watch for me. they’re something i’ve turned to many a time in my 20s so far almost as a reminder of sorts that we’re all just kinda in it and working it out as we go. was a very nice watch today :)
Relating with the long distance relationship. I am in one (Suffolk to Surrey) and it's hard that they are not down the road to see everyday, but when we do meet up every weekend and stay round each other's houses, it makes our moments together so precious 💎🥰✨💗
The 2016 and 2017 PMS vlogs are my all time comfort watch on yt, Im super excited for this year's PMS!!

It's weird how happy it makes me to see you set up boundries when it comes to your love life. You look like you are happy and honestly, that's all I care about.
I really feel the "outside looking in" sensation as a film grad who went back to live with my parents last year. And throughout this video, I kept thinking that you'd be incredible as a talk show host! Your ability to involve us as if we are actually friends irl and comfy vibe is the best.

I'm a new follower, but I am really enjoying the return of vlogging from people who used to do it, especially now that we're all a little older, wiser, calmer. It's nice and glad you're part of it, I'm looking forward to seeing more.

Just wanted to add my two cents to the networking thing: I work in Business and it’s quite a small sector of business, company wise that I work in, so people try to network the shit out of it and I generally don’t. But I have friends and people that I have a genuinely good relationship with. But I don’t ever view them as simply transactional. I also don’t think that one should ever. Cause people and relationships aren’t a currency. Well… while I am climbing off my soap box let me just leave this here: make friends not networks. You get far greater enjoyment out of work if you have friends around you rather then people could be helpful for your career at some point…
I’ve only just found time to watch this! Life is busy so I’m using the last 20 minutes of work to watch this instead. Welcome back. ☺️

thank you so much for articulating that discomfort with networking and the idea of transactional relationships. it's always seemed so weird to me to take social relationships (which are about having a nice time) and career advancement (which is about advancing your career) and just smash them together in this peculiar way. i too work in a field where you gotta network bigly, and i suck at it

Dan Avidan from Game Grumps once talked about how he doesn't like networking either, but what helped him change his mindset was thinking about what HE has to offer those people rather than what they can do for him.
I'm so glad to see PMS again!!! This makes me feel just as cozy and happy as when watching your older PMS videos, just sitting down with a warm cup of hot chocolate and my cat sleeping next to me and watching it was the absolute best way to start my day today.

Seeing you pop up in my sub box doing the old content I loved, reminds me of when I really wanted to start youtube and meet you guys! Perfectionism entered, and I had a lot of stops and starts - until deciding it was better to just not try at all rather than fail. But seeing you do PMS again... maybe its a sign I should give it another go.
This go around we’re saying goodbye to perfectionism. I watched a lot of channels grow that had the slickest videos, pumped out with terrifying regularity. Realising that I expected an entire team’s worth of work to be fulfilled by little old me took a long time. But now we’re embracing simple content done to the best I can do, and hoping whoever clicks on it sticks around for the next week’s! If you pick up the camera again, I hope you find your fun in the process and not the product 😊
PS. "Lets get on with it" - Yep, sounds like we're very much so in similar periods right now :-p

Daniel J, this really made me smile :))) I can't quite remember how long I've been watching your videos, but it's a little wild to me---I started watching when I was barely a teenager in school in the US, not getting into any plays and not knowing how to use a camera. NOW since the end of January, I'm studying in London in an acting conservatory for the semester :0 I'm still a little starstruck about it, it's been about a month! The really big "oh my god I've GROWN and am in the place where countless artists/creators I've grown with live/lived" revelation for me was you saying the words "Leicester Square" and me thinking, "ah yes, I'm on the Northern Line too!" Thanks for all you create and all you share. If it's not real, it's not right!
Also as a side note, Phaedra with Janet McTeer is previewing at the National Theatre, and it's transformative. It's got this commanding theatricality and groundedness to it that I think you'd really really enjoy.

Also, I can completely relate to the networking thing. When I attend functions, I'm actually very social but unlike some of my friends, I never turn those laughs and conversations into anything related to my professional life. Transactional relationships just do nothing for me. I'd rather be that nice guy from the thing.
