      Well it obvious that they don't want us to know that they get no meaningful punishment for breaking the law so what you get is police that break the law at will. I can't really blame them for doing so. Especially if you have mental problems and have no idea of what is right and what is wrong. When you are given free reign this is what could happen. I don't blame the cop for doing what he did.

      We have got to devise a way where we punish misconduct by law enforcement in a different way. These bad cops get turned on by this perceived discretionary power over society. There needs to be some public humiliation that will negate the sense of superiority officer's such as the one in the video. Yes, we could put them in jail for the things they do, and you are right; we should enforce the laws on the books. But for them I think some kind of public ridicule in the community where they abused their power would be appropriate. Ideas anyone?

      Sorry for the snarkiness, it just blows my mind that people are calling QI abolishment when that will ensure victims don't get settlements. I think people have a massive misunderstanding of Qualified Immunity. QI just means you sue the city instead of the individual. The reasoning behind it is threefold.
      1. To ensure citizen victims have a means of financial redress. An officer can always declare bankruptcy and pay pennies on the dollar
      2. To ensure police can't be held liable for a stray bullet that hit an innocent person during an incident. I"m sure you can see the nuance that provides.
      3. To provide officers immunity from frivolous lawsuits. e.g. The officers that raided my neighbor's crack house caused me intense mental trauma when they yelled at me.

    I bicycled West Virginia once just a few years ago. The number of locals along the way that warned me in no uncertain terms of just how corrupt the local and state police are? Astounding!! Several people in one town, unprompted by me, even told me that I would be pulled over, that they pull over everyone from out of town and make up 'stuff'. So much for probable cause and personal freedoms. I sat outside the library of this tiny town one afternoon that had a full view of the police station and their parking lot just down and across the street from me. I witnessed several individuals over the course of a couple of hours, pull up in their personal cars, exit in full combat/SWAT style uniforms and gear and carry an AR-15 rifle into the police station. Imagine. This is a rural small town of less than 6,000 people and you have a bunch of boys running around playing cop, outfitting themselves with unimaginable gear in anticipation of getting to use it, but mostly to just simply bolster their egos. I met an attorney at a national park who shared the story of how his own wife got a speeding ticket while sitting in her car, parked in a parking lot (and had only recently returned to her car from an office). She (and he) lived on the other side of the state so he called to try and clear up the ticket issue. He was told he could pay the $200 and he would not have to come to court, so as absurd as the whole thing was, he paid it. He then shared how this had apparently been going on for quite some time in this town, targeting visitors, until they pulled over and ticketed the Governors car one day on a false charge. Imagine being a citizen of this state with such armed thugs, criminals actually, ruling your lives. One of the poorest states in the U.S. and they are intentionally robbing people under the guise of being "Law" Enforcement. My heart goes out to anyone who lives in this state. I only shared a couple of stories but I have many more as told to me by people there and from my own experiences while bicycling through.

    • @Just-Nikki
      @Just-Nikki 7 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Not just that town. It’s widely known in W VA that they target out of state plates in the hopes that people will pay out of inconvenience. I’m from W Va but I moved and almost EVERY SINGLE TIME I visited family. I have family there so I showed up every time and not once has anything stuck. It’s been a few years since I have been there but it’s been going on for decades.

Because BOTH parties are bought, owned, bribed, & controlled by the corrupt wealthy-class & their corrupt RW-politics. And the working-class dupes in the US continue to vote for BOTH of these corrupt, RW-political-parties.

      @@bmangler0880 Yes I believe the Cop was entirely out of line and has demonstrated history of misconduct. My point is a person must pick their battles not when they are at the mercy or discretion of the Cop.

    Too many of these officers are more worried about their fragile ego trips than just doing their freaking jobs! 🤬

      It's a great place to be a civil rights lawyer. Quite a racket, where everyone is milking the taxpayers and none of the conspirators are punished.
