On the afternoon of October 8, 2022, Anthony Silva's life was irrevocably altered when Stanislaus County deputies unleashed a brutal assault, leaving him quadriplegic and eventually causing his death on September 10, 2023. Renowned California Civil Rights Attorney, Dale Galipo, filed a lawsuit on Anthony's behalf. He joined me to explain the current status of that litigation, including the outrageous fact that no government investigation ever occurred regarding the circumstances of Silva's injury and ultimate death.

Yea it depends on the city/county, some have their own emt's as part of the FD, and some contract out to a 3rd party companies or hospital system. Having worked police adjacent around many departments in my area, my experience was that emt's who were employed by the city through the FD were far too cozy with the cops and had issues like this, while the 3rd party techs were much more professional and reliable for the patients care - most of the time. One major PD in my area running their own emt's recently got into huge trouble when it was found that they could give orders to emt's on scene and would very frequently have suspects tranquilized with Ketamine if the cops thought somebody was out of control or annoying them in some way - quite a number of them suffered negative outcomes from this or even died. Thankfully lawsuits happened and people were fired, faced charges, and or decertified including one head ER surgeon who was overseeing the program, who lost his job and ability to practice.
