For those who don’t know, Leuke is a nymph who Hades loved and brought to the underworld. She lived there for the rest of her days and Hades turned her into the white poplar tree after her death.

What's funny is in the real stories persephone she tore Minghella to pieces so hades turned her into mint. She acts all tough here towards persephone but she's a nyad of the rivers in the underworld. Where persephone is the daughter of demeter and goddess herself

It's so sweet to see Hades represented as a nice and sensitive guy and not as a cruel and heartless demon for a change.
Well, there’s Riordanverse Hades, and I mean the book version. That guy’s bitter, overworked and in desperate need of a vacation.
@@Novice9241 both interpretations are valid since Hades didn't get as much characterization in the og myths as his wife Persephone and mother in law/sister Demeter.

For a change? Apparently I'm in some different circles because I see very few interpretations of Hades where he's not a fairly chill guy.
There is an anime about all gods called Kamigami no Asobi, Hades there is a shy, smary sweetheart.
Maybe you'd like it, too! It features other gods like Apollo, Anubis, etc.

Yeah, nothing screams "best couple" like a guy bursting out of the ground, raping his own niece, dragging her to the underworld against her will, and then forcing her to return every six months out of the year by tricking her into eating pomegranate seeds.

For those of you wondering, Leuke (the white haired nymph who was petting Cerberus) was a daughter of the Titan Oceanus. Hades fell in love with her and abducted her to the underworld. She lived out the span of her life in his realm, and when she died, the god turned her into a white poplar which he placed in the Elysian Fields. To celebrate his return from the underworld, the hero Heracles crowned himself with a branch of this tree.
As for Minthe, she is an Underworld Naiad nymph associated with the river Cocytus. She was beloved by Hades, the King of the Underworld, and became his mistress/concubine, but she was transformed into a mint plant by either his wife Persephone or his sister and mother-in-law Demeter. According to Oppian, Minthe had been Hades' mistress before he abducted and married Persephone, but he set her aside once he carried off and married his queen. Afterwards, she would boast that she surpassed Persephone in beauty and that Hades would soon return to her; in anger over the nymph's insolence, Persephone's mother Demeter trampled her, and thus from the earth sprang the mint herb. Oppian writing that she was trampled to death is perhaps an allusion to the verb μινύθω, minytho, meaning "to reduce." Orpheus wrote that Demeter, seeing the mint sad, hated it, and made it barren.
Lastly, exactly how is Hades Charon's protégé? Charon SERVES Hades after Hades became ruler of the Underworld and Charon ferries the dead across the River Styx?

Dude how are Zeus and Athena the same age? How is Kronos looking after the children he never wanted and tried to eat. How come Aphrodite and Hephaestus have a natural relationship rather than one aphrodite hates? The answer? This is only very loosely based on their myths😂😂
@@shinydevil9294 hades is only romantically attached to two names outside of Persephone. Minthe and the other girl mentioned (and shown, the white haired girl). Depending on the origin of the myth, some say Hades met her before Persephone, and others say he had her as a mistress while Persephone was away and turned her into a plant when Persephone came back. Overall though there’s no other girl. Just the two girls shown here. The Hades character here talking about another girl is prob L, the white haired girl who the og comment first refers to. And seeing by how he talks about her, looks like this adaptation will make it like Hades loved her and lost her BEFORE his relationship with Persephone.

I know we all want Persephone but this is necessary context and any Gods school episode is like a great gift. The voice acting is so good!!! And the animation so lived and the world design and characters are so pleasing to watch thank you so much

Sadly, Aphrodite cheats on Hephaestus constantly during their relationship. Eventually leaving him for her step son/lover Adonis.
Which is a shame. Because he's a great guy despite what's wrong with him but no one sees that. Not even in today's world.

I thought hades dumped Persephone for minthe
Hades was always with Persephone and marrid her before meeting Minthe, there was a close friendship during the months Persephone was away with her mom (the explanation for the change in seasons) but Hades never betrayed Persephone. Minthe started saying that Hades is gonna be with her blabla and Persephone wasn't having that from her. She turned her into the mint plant so that in order to smell her, she has to be crushed under your feet first

Oh, I _love_ this episode! This one might be my favorite so far. You'd expect a backstory of how Hades and Persephone met, but one for Minthe and Hades? It's so good! The title card was beautiful--I love the way the scent of mint is portrayed as soft green smoke. The meet-cute Hades and Minthe have was also adorable! It was like an inverted Little Mermaid where the dog finds the girl but doesn't like her. lmao
And you brought in _Leuke_ of all characters, one so left out that even I forgot about her, that's how rare she is! All of this further gives me high hopes for this series. Yeah, I ship Hades/Persephone too, always did, but I absolutely adore it when Hades' other love interests are shown. I have other favorite deities, like Aphrodite, but the dynamic of Hades and his romances is my interest. I hate no one and just appreciate seeing all my little faves getting attention. Also, little detail I thought was so cute was Zeus holding the planet Jupiter at 3:52. Gorgeous work as usual, the next episode is going to be awesome! ❤

I stumbled upon this series by accident a long time ago when the pilot came out and I was mesmerized by how gorgeous the animation was and how the story is written. Amazing job and please keep up the good work and I'm looking forward to the next episode.😁

What I find most interesting is that Cerberus ran off to growl at Minthe, who was doing nothing and lounging on a rock. Which means Minthe was bad news to begin with from the start?

Aww leuce/leuke is so pretty. I know in myth she was kidnapped by hades and lived her life in the underworld, then was turned into a tree on her death to live in elysian fields. Hopefully she gets a happier story here.
