I bought a Pint X in March 2022. At only 5-foot-7, with a men's size 8 shoe, I have so much more control on the Pint X than when I ride my XR. I have Pint, XR and GT and agree with this vid. The Pint is great fun, very manoeuvrable and light. I don't use the XR as I find it less carvy and difficult to dismount. The GT really is good, feels much safer than the XR and has all that range. I was worried about the cost of the GT but am very happy with it and will try to sell the XR. Proud owner of a Pint here. About 1k miles, still on the stock tire, here's my 2 cents: - Reliability: Had to change a few parts, broken front sensor after about 700 miles, probably because I didn't notice some small rocks stuck in the grooves of my shoe and messed it up, but could just be wear, not sure. Maghande let itself go last week, broke in half as I was picking it up, easy fix. Overall I'd say it's really sturdy and can withstand pretty much anything you throw at it, but do yourself a favor and buy a float plate. And probably the charge plug, maybe it's not necessary but gives some peace of mind when it rains. - Maintenance: little to none required, just some clean up after rough weather or trails. - Cons: The pads are too small, both my heels and toes stick quite a bit out of the board on either side (size 43 EU, I think it's 9 US), and you don't have that much space to adjust. The front sensor is a bit "touchy" at times, sometimes when mounting it doesn't activate if you don't press your foot down enough (and precisely), so you jump up and the front just flops down very anti-climactically, and you look like a fool 😂. Battery lasts less than you'd expect, 8 miles run by really fast, but it just depends on your needs, for me is more than enough to go back and forth from work. -Pros: FUN. @@TheDIYFilmmaker hi, I think if the hardware version is 4209 or earlier, you can still swap batteries and controllers. From 4210 and up, the battery and controller are paired.
Got my XR since last August. Revision 4212. Thanks to the JWFFM chip "no cut" I've just setted up an CBXR Chi Battery few weeks ago. Works like a charm : more punchy, better tork and got same, if not more range than the GT now (50-60 km). Got a pair of ceramic grizzly bearing too (now I just have to find a place or someone to install this ^^' Stock life service in France just does not exist, and I don't have proper tool for that -like a 3 tonnes press....-). Looking to change my stock Vega tire for a sweet Enduro FL ones ;-P. Got Float Plats and Fangs V.3 too. I don't see any reasons to switch for the GT. Perhaps the next Onewheel generation will be ok but now my XR do same, if not better than the GT.... And Futur Motion really fucked up with their anti right to repair moves. They gonna have to change before they deserve my money again.
From a safety standpoint if we put ourselves in FM's shoes doesn't your comment say it all? With "right to repair" you made a more dangerous unregulated modded version of their board with their name on it. If you get seriously injured bc the XR software was designed to allow modding then who's at fault? I'm not arguing really it's more of a what if stand point. Just a thought.
@@DAG_SUX I don't buy that argumet at all. If he gets in an accident the fact that it's modded and souped up will be front and center. Besides his reason for upgrading the battery is an unusual one, the vast majority of people just want to extend the range of their ride, especially as the boards get older. Companies have used the "we're fucking you for your own good" argument forever, and it's almost always bogus.
They forgot to mention the the bigger front bumper on the pint x can be switched with an original pint front bumper to restore it’s clearance. There is also the fangs v2 bumper you can buy.
I scored a pint in Aus for 950 dollars which is 500 USD, it;s such a sweet board, just keep a charger with you that thing charge so fast the range is easy 10km. No way I would spend 4k on a board you can buy 4 pints for one GT that crazy
I found a Gt for a really good price and only has 44miles on it the board is from November 2022 and I’ve heard of them ghosting. Does anyone know anything about this or if one from this year would ghosting

I was about to buy a GT and learned about all the bug, ghosting etc.. The price is too high as well. And the fact that we have to send it back to FM in case of issue and the lack of 3rd party made me bought an EUC instead. So I am waiting for a GT fix and FM to loose a little bit on the right to repair + 3rd party. Once that fixed, I'd glably buy one. I will just rent one from time to time while waiting!
I can understand the reasons for the hate on FM, but no one makes anything in America anymore. I like the idea of supporting a guy who created a great PEV in California and instead of manufacturing it in China, started his own factory in his own home town, providing great jobs for fellow Californians. I got my GT last week so my journey continues. New production line, new firmware installed, no issues.
@@barnabasseadog7660 I have no hate for FM actually and really think the OW is great. It's just that I don't want to spend that much money on something I might not able to enjoy sadly... I can repair any parts of my EUC, change the tire, even changing the motherboard is not an issue. As a risk/reward I choosed EUC but if we speak about fun only. I would have bought the OW. And I am really sad about that.
I was ready to drop $2700 on an upgraded GT package. After hearing about all the GT issues, I found a local shop that still had 2 brand new XRs. I bought both of them for $1400 a piece since they were discontinued. Couldn’t be happier. My two boys and I fight over them since we are riding them all the time. Wish I could’ve bought a third, still not sold on a GT. I think the range and speed of a Pint is pointless. I what to go fast and I want to ride far.
All I know is, later today I’ll put a whisper 6 on my 4212, that has kush lo front and rear, while continuing to wait and dream about the enduro coming soon(I hope)for my 4209 that also has kush lo front and rear! I mean, I’ve ridden both GT’s, but unless I can put THE MOST IMPORTANT PART on there, no thanks FM. Great review!
Honestly I think the XR with a CBXR battery can compete with a GT. Maybe doesn’t have the torque and climbing. But it’ll be same or better range, close to same top speed, doesn’t push back as aggressive, and won’t ghost on you and hit cars, people, and get you sued.
G'day from Australia. I am looking at getting an onewheel GT because of more range and regenerating the battery. For on the trail and long distance shopping but mainly because i can put it on my kayak and go into town with it. As I live on a sailing boat. Gerard on board, SV GEMSTAR.
i feel it would have been good, to cover the flaws of the boards aswell. Like Ghosting on GT`s and the Overheating problem thanks to the Powdercoating of the Rails. Or that it is less repairable than any other board before the GT.
Let the customer know that if they remove the battery connector from the GT the board will brick itself. And they are not supporting legacy boards. They are also not 3rd party repair friendly
I kinda hope they come out with a mid-board between the pint and the gt. Maybe they will call it the Xr, lol. But really, is it just weight that is different from the Xr to gt? Or is it length or width? Seems like it got some more junk in its trunk.
I saw a dude riding one of these for the first time. I thought I'd check it out. I didn't think they'd be over 2g's tho. If I lived in a bigger city I'd want one tho
I have the Pint X and have no regrets, but lets not pretend that 18MPH is the top speed. You will get pushback as soon as you hit 16MPH and you'd have to push through pushback to get to 18MPH which is not recommended.
I have a pint and I can get 20.5 mph on flat and I weigh 240 idk what happened but at 400miles it broke in and started rippin and still get about 6-7 miles on a charge
I think the XR should have been included in the main comparison since It is a great board and it is easy to find used. And can be a good middle ground between the pint x and gt.
My struggle is xr or pintx. I keep going back and forth on them. Pintx because it’s light and zippy, xr because of the amount of accessories and bigger size. I’m worried that since I have bad shoulders the xr will be too heavy.
The GT is my first board and I'm absolutely loving it, haven't had any of the issues I've seen floating around so that's definitely a plus 😂 can't wait to see what aftermarket support comes out, hopefully FM will back off a bit on the the anti right to repair though...
The GT is too big. We want a pint but wider (not thicker) to accommodate normal human sized feet. The GT puts the board plane higher on the wheel which doesn't seem attractive. Which is why I still think the final form is a GT slim.
If youve got one kid, one wifey with so-so balance but wants to ride with you, and yourself, then start at the Pint, then Pint X, both which you pass down to them, then a GT for yourself cus now you ride every day, that's what I did hahaha
I did exactly that. I started with a used OG Pint off Craigslist as a last mile solution to work. In the six months since, I have logged some 750 miles. Up until my GT arrived last week. Now my journey really begins as I learn to carve all over again. I have since passed my Pint on to my nephew.
The pint is great for people up to 140 lbs maybe 150 lbs, and the GT is ideal for people over 250lbs, but without the XR there isn't a new onewheel for everyone in between. So 80% of the addressable market isn't addressed by the current lineup...
If the Pint/PintX/XR/ and GT all have same size motor. couldn't you but a high volt (or higher something else) battery in a pint and vesc it and essentially have a GT in a pint body? is that possibly the "safety" thing FM doesn't want people messing with so someone doesn't blindly follow a few TH-cam videos and Now they are going over 30mph with no pushback and sue FM when they start breaking bones? Since this is the OW community I expect you to tell me how stupid I am ect but please elaborate on why I am stupid and not just "FFM"
I cant believe FM discontinued the board that made the brand great. Sorry, but I have to say, this is the stupidiest decission FM made so far. I will get a second XR when I have the money for it and there is one to buy. If not, I mostlikely go for a Vesc as soon my XR stops working.
FM sabotage boards worse than ever before, sue anyone offering enhancements smh! Increasing numbers of previous customers are building GT killer diy boards. There are such better options out there now. FM have squeezed too tight, now its all slipping out between their fingers. D'Oh!

You have the pint, swap a battery which helps a bit but I would say move to the GT. (I hate FM for the way they tied down the GT its total BS so not a fan for now.) But honestly I think the GT would be nice board to own.

@@chrischeshire3867 I think it’s just cause it’s been the flagship for 4 years with no upgrade till now so that’s all we had
I have two 4208 XRs, which I love and can still swap batteries etc between boards because it was before F.M. ramped up their anti-repair anti-customer policy... 👎 fFM
Next onewheel I put money into will be a DIY board because that is where the future stoke will be.
Build the product youself, reject the company. 👍
Are all XR free of anti-repair policy or only before an specific revision?
@@TheDIYFilmmaker hi, I think if the hardware version is 4209 or earlier, you can still swap batteries and controllers.
From 4210 and up, the battery and controller are paired.
@@wizrom3046 Thank you so much!
@@TheDIYFilmmaker youre welcome.
Also, you can see the onewheel's hardware ver number when it connects to the onewheel phone app.
Got my XR since last August. Revision 4212. Thanks to the JWFFM chip "no cut" I've just setted up an CBXR Chi Battery few weeks ago. Works like a charm : more punchy, better tork and got same, if not more range than the GT now (50-60 km). Magnetic carbon C&R fender, Air pad rear foot pad, ultra reflective side kicks from Float life.
Yeah, but then you have the same issue with the Pint which is an exposed controller box.
I’ve never heard about this, what do you mean?
Man I think I just need to get the GT. Thanks for this video.
A second hand XR of course
Not a bad choice!
I love u guys and what you do keep doing it. Bless up & Float on.
Great video as always, the Pint is a great entery board. For new risers, stay safe, repect the board and Float on - o - !
I do agree with the ppl saying buy used, not to support FM's practices.. look into it if you're not aware of why this is being said about Future Motion..
FFM!
Used onewheel XR for the win!
The answer is that you buy NONE until they fix their right to repair issues.
Can’t you just send the board back to fm?
@@Coolae450not everybody wants to send their board to California to get it fixed. Plus the community around onewheel places a heavy emphasis on customization right to repair issues are not very in line with this.
@@FacelessBuilder this was before my gt broke and now yes I fully agree with you but I’m broke and my gt has been broke for almost now. I wanna ride sooo bad
They issued a recall and fixed the ghosting issues on the GT
I've had the GT for 3 months just picked up an old used pint for my kids it's perfect
I have 2 XRs and a GT. I love the power of the GT.
Unplug the battery and see what happens with the GT...
I have a regular pint for some time now, great way to get to work in a busy city, but I'm starting to lust over the GT, so I can really go offroad...
A VESC
Where is the XR
Broke my elbow 2 weeks ago on my one wheel pint. It’s up for sale on fb market place lol
Dangit!
If I had unlimited money I would buy the GT but as of now the pint x is just fine
Honestly I think the XR with a CBXR battery can compete with a GT. Maybe doesn’t have the torque and climbing. But it’ll be same or better range, close to same top speed, doesn’t push back as aggressive, and won’t ghost on you and hit cars, people, and get you sued.
This was a great video with a lot of info! 💯💯💯
Glad it was helpful!
Awesome video as always keep up the fantastic work guys🤙. Also have a GT on the way it should be here Thursday cant wait for my first onewheel.
G'day from Australia.
I am looking at getting an onewheel GT because of more range and regenerating the battery. For on the trail and long distance shopping but mainly because i can put it on my kayak and go into town with it.
As I live on a sailing boat.
Gerard on board,
SV GEMSTAR.
i think the pintx is the best bet for the money they offer right now without a doubt!
Would love to buy the GT for it's range and going uphill with no problems
Great overview of current options.
Julian needs to do audiobooks. Dope video
i feel it would have been good, to cover the flaws of the boards aswell. Like Ghosting on GT`s and the Overheating problem thanks to the Powdercoating of the Rails. Or that it is less repairable than any other board before the GT.
Im lovin these videos. Good stuff float
Was gonna get a GT but i got a Grizzly e-bike instead my XR will work for now
Team XR for me rn. Got my eye on that gt tho.
Great reviews and overview of all boards.
I’m about 6 ft 200 pound, will pint X be too small?
Let the customer know that if they remove the battery connector from the GT the board will brick itself.
And they are not supporting legacy boards.
They are also not 3rd party repair friendly
Once we have sensors available it's happy days!
I kinda hope they come out with a mid-board between the pint and the gt. Maybe they will call it the Xr, lol. But really, is it just weight that is different from the Xr to gt? Or is it length or width? Seems like it got some more junk in its trunk.
Love the level of detail. Can’t wait to share this with all of my buddies who’re interested in floating
great video!
Don't forget the used market. You can get a nice low mileage XR for ~$1100
I saw a dude riding one of these for the first time.
Nice work Julian!
VESC!
That looked like it was shot in sacramento! Where are the trails you were riding? I notice the river but couldn't tell where it was.
West sac river trails typically
I have a pint and I can get 20.5 mph on flat and I weigh 240 idk what happened but at 400miles it broke in and started rippin and still get about 6-7 miles on a charge
Love my XR. but this will be my last. My next wheel will be an EUC. Cant support FM any more.
I'm looking at the Kingsong 16xs. It"s 1500 bucks and has better specs than the GT.
I think the XR should have been included in the main comparison since It is a great board and it is easy to find used. And can be a good middle ground between the pint x and gt.
We mention that at the end of the video.
At over 250 I only had one choice but I'm not mad about that lol
I always recommend a pint x,😁
My struggle is xr or pintx. I keep going back and forth on them. Pintx because it’s light and zippy, xr because of the amount of accessories and bigger size. I’m worried that since I have bad shoulders the xr will be too heavy.
The Pint X is roughly the same weight as the XR
The guy talking is very physically attractive wow
I agree
The GT is my first board and I'm absolutely loving it, haven't had any of the issues I've seen floating around so that's definitely a plus 😂 can't wait to see what aftermarket support comes out, hopefully FM will back off a bit on the the anti right to repair though...
The GT is too big. We want a pint but wider (not thicker) to accommodate normal human sized feet. The GT puts the board plane higher on the wheel which doesn't seem attractive. Which is why I still think the final form is a GT slim.
Growler is the move.
Sounds like you really want an XR 😜
All of them!
Do you have a Onewheel discount code?
I am looking to grab one soon.
If youve got one kid, one wifey with so-so balance but wants to ride with you, and yourself, then start at the Pint, then Pint X, both which you pass down to them, then a GT for yourself cus now you ride every day, that's what I did hahaha
Solid plan!
I did exactly that. I started with a used OG Pint off Craigslist as a last mile solution to work. In the six months since, I have logged some 750 miles. Up until my GT arrived last week. Now my journey really begins as I learn to carve all over again. I have since passed my Pint on to my nephew.
Do they still make XR’s?
Im a pretty big guy at 275-280, is it worth to get a pintx or should I try go for a gt? Mostly just want to use this for commuting in the city.
Exactly the question I have as well...
Is it like skateboarding?
More like skateboarding's cousin, twice removed. similar to snowboarding and surfing
The Pint X has poor battery housing design that can lead to damaged BMS balancing wires and main battery leads.
The pint is great for people up to 140 lbs maybe 150 lbs, and the GT is ideal for people over 250lbs, but without the XR there isn't a new onewheel for everyone in between. So 80% of the addressable market isn't addressed by the current lineup...
Solid video brother
If the Pint/PintX/XR/ and GT all have same size motor. couldn't you but a high volt (or higher something else) battery in a pint and vesc it and essentially have a GT in a pint body? is that possibly the "safety" thing FM doesn't want people messing with so someone doesn't blindly follow a few TH-cam videos and Now they are going over 30mph with no pushback and sue FM when they start breaking bones?
Since this is the OW community I expect you to tell me how stupid I am ect but please elaborate on why I am stupid and not just "FFM"
Yes this is
i hate that they discontinued the xr
Damn, he's pretty cute :)
Perfect timing
Not going to buy FM One Wheel because FM is crappy company with no right to repair, warranty issues, one wheels getting bricked, quality issues.
WWWOOOO Sacramento Ya!!!!
D'Oh!
What options? .. im an e-longboard AT (evolve gtrs) rider , Looking to buy a onewheel, but thinking about alternatives (because the GT bricking seems stupid, specially if im from across the world) ... But cant find any alternatives
@@svenmaesalu6917 Funwheel with VESC is a very viable option now, There's the potential to build whatever style board you like with a huge range of aftermarket options for rails, batteries, footpads, controllers, tires, the list goes on. Its easy now to build boards that will not only out perform a GT but be cheaper and more reliable and more rideable around a 6" hub.
GT all day everyday 💯 picking up another GT. I want to see what the slick is about 🔥
Uhhh..I got 1800 miles out of my stock pint
Brand new latest hardware and firmware ghosted In the first 4 miles.
Bummer! Sounds like a bad footpad.
That sucks- nice to see they have no clue- Sorry for your issues
Over 1600 miles now on stock GT slick... Still hanging tough🤙🏼
Love this tire.. unpopular opinion I know but don't care. I rip on this thing🔥
I’m torn between a new pint x or gt (currently I have a pint) but lately I’ve been thinking about getting a used one but not rly sure
You have the pint, swap a battery which helps a bit but I would say move to the GT.
(I hate FM for the way they tied down the GT its total BS so not a fan for now.) But honestly I think the GT would be nice board to own.
I have a pint X and after 2 months I was wanting more. Got the GT with latest firmware and it’s the most incredible machine ever. I’ve ridden the XR also and it doesn’t compare in my opinion. Get the GT.
I went from the OG Pint to the GT just last week. New production line, new firmware installed, no issues. My journey continues.
@@inactive67 it just feels so unstable when I’m tryna do off-road stuff and the pushback is killing me haha
2k miles btw
Get the vesc .
looking at the prices for accesories is almost worse then downloadable content for a game..... They really rip your pockets!!
Ghosting, unable to repair your board without bricking it... no longer a fan of FM
Buy an XR
800miles a tire?! 😂
Any of these companies want to get a hold of me ? I'd love to be a dealer...
But as usual TFL BARLEY mentions the open source VESC. Why does it seem like this is some big secret? You're always doing things "for the culture" but never mention the very real alternative. I get that you're getting some perks and a big influence to onewheel riders but how can we trust what you're saying if you're completely ignoring a huge part of the community?
It’s not a huge part of the community yet. It’s getting there though. The average person looking at onewheels doesn’t have the wherewithal to immediately jump into VESC. I rode a VESC a long time ago and it’s definitely getting better in its current form! We get ours in about a week so I’m sure you’ll be seeing more.
@@TheFloatLife I get it's not the easiest thing to wrap your head around without even knowing what a onewheel is but I think everyone should be aware of it as an option. Can't believe I had a onewheel for over a year and had never even heard of VESC. Just seems strange to me that it's barely even mentioned by the top onewheel influencers like yourselves. I hope we see some VESC vids from you guys soon tho. The future is exciting and thanks to guys like Kaettz aka vesc.mann the future is now!!
