Situations like Da'Naia's are why being single isn't an insult and being married isn't always a flex. Just because someone is married doesn't mean they're in a GOOD marriage! They're plenty of wives out here being lied to, cheated on, disrespected, embarrassed and generally mistreated. I hope black women learn to love themselves enough to stay single until they find healthy, loving relationships.
THIS! some people's grandmas had marriages like this throughout their youth, which is why i don't think the number of your years of marriage means very much. it's the quality, not quantity. i have an aunt who testified about her mother sticking with her abusive dad through years of abuse and cheating as if it was a triumph.

When Da’Naia dropped real names I knew she was living with no cares. There’s a wit about Da’Naia and it’s comedic but the pain is obviously there. I’m glad she’s receiving counseling and getting back to her true self. It’s crazy how people and relationships can diminish a person personality, charm, and happiness but God always has us covered.

She way she deconstructs everything so well and is so clear in her ability to express herself and her feelings is impressive. The best part about this interview is the accountability. She calls him out on his sh*t but also admits she fully participated in it willingly, allowed certain things, and taught him how badly to treat her. That is real growth and healing, when you can look back at a situation and can recognize what the other part did wrong AND admit where you went wrong as well, that's true strength.
Damn that means I must be doing some kinda healing because for the longest while I blamed my ex for our demise but within the last year I've been able to see and admit where I messed up as well... It was hard accepting my part but it got easier when I took my emotions out of it and tried to look at things rationally...guess that means I'm adulting..

Once I finally accepted and understood that every relationship that comes into our lives is a direct reflection of the relationship we are having with ourselves, I started to heal.
Many of us judged her harshly after those videos on social media but truth be told, many of us could relate to her story. Childhood trauma, attracting an unhealthy partner, and completely losing herself in the experience of it all.

Mr. Whitfield is a healed man now on the other side of his own transgressions and can be more a of a protector and safe place than many of us Black women experience from day to day from men in our community ... there is a lot of relief for many of us when FINALLY we can sit and talk with a man who isn't trying to use us up. Laughing and being relieved and experiencing joy again means we are not going to make camp and LIVE IN THAT TRAGEDY ... it means we are going to move on with LIFE. Mr. Whitfield is moving on. Mrs. Jackson is moving on. Joy and laughter and the relief of being able to enjoy the same is part of the process.

She defaults to silence. That’s her natural response to trauma. In that space she can protect herself and plan next steps. Think about how many times she has kept things, cried in the closet, snooped and watched quietly. She has a rich and deep internal space that she creates to protect herself. 😢 Her silence 🤫 made her even more easy to target, abuse and torture. He was cruel.
I respect her because this podcast means she recognized that her silence emboldened her and no longer served her purpose. There aren’t many places he can hide. More importantly, she will be more at peace with herself when she chooses to go within.
I am not a quiet person. I have to talk things out. But, I do shut down when I am ashamed of myself. I lose my words. I cling to stillness as my thoughts race. My ex husband benefited from my shame. So, for me - it’s about creating safe spaces and having people I trust around me to preserve my energy and allow me to restore myself and find my words, practice my voice. Trauma is such a thief. It goes for broke. It steals everything you allow. So, I’m constantly addressing it and protecting it from stealing my confidence and joy, which is hard to get back. It’s been 5 years and I have times when I’m triggered by the oddest things, situations and people. I’m set to write a book about my life at that time, I’ve procrastinated on writing because I am forced to relive that dark part of my past. Today - I will find the words and shame the devil.

However, wisdom teaches me that we do not all behave the same way even after experiencing trauma in our early year's. I have empathy for her and I am blown away by her GROWTH, accountability after the fact (many never get to this stage). I was her endured for 30 yrs. 2020, I was done. Met at 14, married at 18. Knew nothing about boundaries or anything...treated me like crap. His baby mom and I had babies the same day. He had a stroke at 38 nursed him back. And that didn't slow him down, and the list went on. Fast forward today, I bought a house on my own, at peace and healing. This man refuses to give me divorce, but the God I serve, he doesn't play about me. This man fixed his mouth to say he wants half of everything...smh

Idk and care what it all means, but the courts said they are a problem. I just want all ties to be done. He puts Derrick to shame. All she went through I was there and then some.
She has the same testimony as most women, of any ethnicity. So proud she shared her story because a lot of us assumed she was crazy. But I never doubted she married a dud. If she plays her cards right, she can lead many women out of this toxic manosphere through her stories and lessons learned.

As a Doctor I have treated women before and after abuse. The woman's whole affect changed dramatically from confident to cowering. Their is a tribe of God loving women who try to love their husbands the way GOD designed whose men try to break them. Look at what God made in this beautiful woman. She is radiant❤

Amen!! Took me 7 years but I'm finally free!!! This was one of the hardest battles I've ever had to deal with!! I lost my 1st spouse to cancer 10 years ago and I jabe destroyed divorcing an extremely unwell narcissitic person was harder than burying my 1st love to cancer.... and that was no walk in the park itself. I now know what it's like and when people say "why didn't she just leave..." they truly don't understand the toll of narcissitic and mental abuse... manipulation and gaslighting can make you feel like you're going crazy ... Mr. Whitfield is a healed man now on the other side of his own transgressions and can be more a of a protector and safe place than many of us Black women experience from day to day from men in our community ... there is a lot of relief for many of us when FINALLY we can sit and talk with a man who isn't trying to use us up. Laughing and being relieved and experiencing joy again means we are not going to make camp and LIVE IN THAT TRAGEDY ... it means we are going to move on with LIFE. Mr. Whitfield is moving on. She defaults to silence. That’s her natural response to trauma. In that space she can protect herself and plan next steps. Think about how many times she has kept things, cried in the closet, snooped and watched quietly. She has a rich and deep internal space that she creates to protect herself. 😢 Her silence 🤫 made her even more easy to target, abuse and torture. He was cruel.

I respect her because this podcast means she recognized that her silence emboldened her and no longer served her purpose. There aren’t many places he can hide. More importantly, she will be more at peace with herself when she chooses to go within.
I am not a quiet person.
I have to talk things out. But, I do shut down when I am ashamed of myself. I lose my words. I cling to stillness as my thoughts race. My ex husband benefited from my shame. So, for me - it’s about creating safe spaces and having people I trust around me to preserve my energy and allow me to restore myself and find my words, practice my voice. Trauma is such a thief. It goes for broke. It steals everything you allow. So, I’m constantly addressing it and protecting it from stealing my confidence and joy, which is hard to get back. It’s been 5 years and I have times when I’m triggered by the oddest things, situations and people. I’m set to write a book about my life at that time, I’ve procrastinated on writing because I am forced to relive that dark part of my past.

However, wisdom teaches me that we do not all behave the same way even after experiencing trauma in our early year's. He had a stroke at 38 nursed him back. And that didn't slow him down, and the list went on. Fast forward today, I bought a house on my own, at peace and healing. This man refuses to give me divorce, but the God I serve, he doesn't play about me. This man fixed his mouth to say he wants half of everything...smh

I lost my 1st spouse to cancer 10 years ago and I jabe destroyed divorcing an extremely unwell narcissitic person was harder than burying my 1st love to cancer.... and that was no walk in the park itself. @@Tmac251 right. It's not lost on me that she must have been in a very low place in self esteem to do it. But it still doesn't change the fact that she made a very bad decision by marrying a serial cheater.
That was the point of her going into detail about her trauma . She was raped and jumped right into another relationship . Are we surprised she clung onto him despite knowing he was a cheater ? That’s how attachment issues are. That’s why she said she was a willing participate and how messed up mentally she was . That’s years of abuse some people don’t just leave no matter how much we try to say “ they knew”
@@countlessmelanin8650 Thank you! She clearly stated she knew he was cheating. I think this isn't just his cheating, but about where she was mentally and how she was able to allow it. She wasn't in a healthy frame of mine because of her trauma. Heck, people don't go through half of what she went through and do the same. I'm glad she got help and is able to tell her story.
The goofy host consistently laughing throughout her telling her story was so off-putting and unprofessional. This is why everybody shouldn’t have a podcast.

I laughed at the memes of this lady in her bonnet and I am completely ashamed of myself. I cannot imagine dealing with that type of trauma. I’m glad she was able to tell her story and she’s healing 🙏🏾

@Crystal Joseph I didn’t and my reason is I was going through the same thing. I wasted 15 yrs holding onto a man who dragged me through hell and back. I died trying to give birth to him. September 2023 will make 17 yrs I know him. The love I give to that man I would NEVER give another man that again. I have resolved to spend the rest of my life single.

But since I started following her I caught on. He broke her and only if someone is in this type of situation they would understand.

I get what you are saying and she definitely deserves half of the blame for allowing her low self-esteem and love of money to keep her in this situation, but are you saying that he should be off the hook? One problem that I see is that women continually blame and belittle other women as opposed to nurturing them and trying to help them see the light. Some blogger said when the cheating scandal broke, that she had the power to be bigger than him. They even speculated thar she wrote so well that they wouldn't be surprised if she wrote his books. She could have a huge platform, should she choose that route. I wish her and her kids well.
