    I love throwing uppercuts when people shell up. Hit them with the canelo combo when they have a shell.

    The only punch you can reliably land without a setup is the jab and even then it can be a pain.

    Oh man, such great advice! I don't think I've landed many uppercuts in sparring...mostly because I'm scared to throw it at people I like. It's a nasty punch when it lands. Also, it's not very easy to set up especially against upright fighters like in Muay Thai.

    Can you do a “what makes them so good” for Holzken? He’s got a fight coming up and he has probably my favorite style in kickboxing.

    Where would you rank yourself on a list of best kickboxers of all time ? Kinda curious

    • @GabrielVargaOfficial
      @GabrielVargaOfficial  3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Oh man. Not in the top 10. That's a hard list to crack.
      You've got Petrosyan, Schilt, Aerts, Hoost, Souwer, Buakaw, Masato, etc. I'm happy with my 6 world titles but I need to win the ONE belt to have a chance of being included in there.

    The best uppercut southpaw vs orthodox fighter,the good old corkscrew uppercut followed by the left cross,Prince naseem hamed was the most famous for it but conor McGregor copied it to,sugar Ray Leonard bolo uppercut was immense but he was a legend !!,think uppercuts are best used defensively believe me I’ve walked onto enough of them lol

    Also Roy Jones Jr utilized the 3rd technique quite often, he would actually roll and punch the same hand sometimes. Great video.

    Have a hard time seting them up very interesting and helpful. Will try that out in my sparing (#1&2 at least)
    By the way #2 was perfected by Mike Tyson!

    I need glasses and when sparring it sucks that due to my lack of vision my distance is all over the place so my upercut usually lands on my partner's ribs or my own face :( haha

      @zo4080 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      know the feeling. xD and contacts are not always a good solution. but I believe in adapting over the time and being able to estimate the distance better with the practice.

      It’s such a struggle wanting to fight but not being able to see. I recently learned from my optometrist during a consultation about this exact issue that a properly moisturized and properly fitting contact will be able to withstand punches. After going through my first match (several different brands and fittings later) I definitely vouch for her info. I recommend trying those puppies out, but if not that’s okay!

    I think number three is really good if you notice your opponent is using the focus of their eyes to follow your gloves! Speaking of where people are looking! What is your philosophy of what to do with your eyes? I've heard everything under the sun from looking center mass, looking at the shoulders, looking to the opponent's eyes, and focusing on a spot behind the opponent. Seems these later ones invoke peripheral vision as their main tool to read their opponent. Which is interesting when you start looking at the studies of fear response and limbic system. I'm not married to any of them but find the different reasons very valuable.

      if my input helps you, I’m an amateur fighter at least. I treat fighting vision like driving you don’t fixate on much and you just generally look forward in your “windshield” scanning the environment and staying prepared to address dangers

      These are fight gloves that they made for me. Although since I don't box we can't use them in fights.
      Perfect for filming.
