he was not confirmed as the dad there was not even one DNA test to prove that and it was said that ops mom cheated with many men and yet still was able to add ops father as the father without his permission or DNA test, after watching more the DNA test came positive, the only things that is 100% true is that ops is massively not the ahole and his actions are normal for a 13 years old person, both op and her adoptive dad are innocent, while her mother bio dad and also his wife heather are Aholes but the most ahole one is ops mother.

S1 - While it sucks that Harold and wife are against you, the way they went about it is the hurtful part. It would be one thing if you’d reached out and they closed all the metaphorical doors. But Harold answered, he showed warmth, he said not contacting you was his single greatest regret. THEN he shut all the doors. That’s some next-level bait-n-switch.
I’m going to guess that the wife threatened him with divorce and taking away his other kids, if he stayed in contact. He chose between the daughter he barely knows, who is on death’s door, or the two kids he helped raise, who are seemingly healthy. Not a great place to be, but I can follow his thought process from A to B.
I wonder if lawyers could at least sue them for their medical history. Maybe the hospital has some lawyers who specialize in HIPAA laws. For that matter, sue them for some pretextual reason, then have the lawyers the hospital has lent you just walk through all the questions the doctors have, but call it cross-examination. Then, when you have the info you need, withdraw the case. But even to me, that sounds like some compelling TV while not being very realistic.

No disrespect to the OP in the first story. But when someone shows you who they are believe them. Why are you still reaching out to somebody that don't want to be around you? That don't want to talk to you. I don't understand I never understood reaching out to people and trying to be friends with people or want people to care when they're showing you that they don't. Block them. People and leave them alone if you got the medical records. That's all you need

Last story the easist way to get out of that "awkward" situation with his ex was to say I'm m with my wife". How is that so hard to understand? Why should he be flustered seeing someone he should've been over years ago? Especially WHEN HE GOT MARRIED

  • @sweeety969

The mom's treatment of the dad is used as a scapegoat imo, the real issue is the stepmom and biological father. It's a fundamental issue with adoption though that children aren't put up for adoption with their full medical history. The dad was listed in this case so i dont know why his medical records didn't automatically get attached to her file and why they had to reach out to personally retrieve them.

Any sort of legal system that infringes on bodily autonomy is beyond fucked, BUT what would be good though is if we fixed CPS, invested in finding good, caring caseworkers, veting out foster parents and adoptive parents, hired more caseworkers so no kid was lost between all their work, mandated sobriety and substance tests for foster and adoptive parents and a really good system of monitoring them and veting out child abuse.

I really don't understand the op in the first story...there are so many DNA tests that can screen and provide genetic markers for illnesses and can predict future complications..why not go that route instead of stalking her biological father after they have already rejected her ....I can understand it's expensive but at least it's not that heartbreaking... moreover not everyone has a complete medical history for everyone in their family tree..

I Know Imma get flamed for this. But Bio dad gave up his parental rights. You do have a dad. The man that adopted you, raised you and took care of you is your father.
Imagine how her dad feels. He's adopted her at birth and has done everything he could to pay for her medical bills and raise her only for her to try to toss him aside to find her deadbeat bio dad that wanted nothing to do with her. Only one who should be talking to bio dad is the adopted dad to bio dad.

Also, I wouldn't want any of my exes knowing a damn thing about my current relationship because it's none of their business. Some people don't understand that someone just may not want to talk to somebody and just say a couple of things to not seem like an ass when they leave, people pleasers exist- like, could he have said something? Yeah, but he didn't have to, and it's weird that he was voted yta.

Not to mention, if OP had introduced his wife and Jen decided to be a messy bitch and start something, then they'd probably still be vilifying OP for not ending the convo quickly enough. Or if he'd just walked away with no conversation at all and Jen followed him back to his table to start some drama it'd be OP's fault for not 'just talking to her to be polite' over at the other table.

S2 - did nobody see how OP told the ex as little as possible? Superficial answers at best. And ABSOLUTELY NOT ANYTHING important to him. Wives, kids, etc.probablu would have better to grey rock or 180 that whole conversation, but hindsight is 20/20. But the key point is that his ex isn’t allowed into the important parts of his life. Probably could have gotten the same result by being super insulting, but some people aren’t that was. So he gave her nothing either way. Getting nothing, she pushed harder, and the wife eventually noticed.
Yeah, not the best thought out plan. A series of decisions that, taken separately make sense. But those events in that order added up to a worse outcome.
I’ve run into similar patterns between me and my now ex. I’d suggest a thing, she’d say “Oh, I can’t, .” I read that as “I want to but there’s an obstacle. Fair enough, I hit the “problem solving mode” button in my head, and look for ways around her stated reason. There’s always something else stopping it, so I try to resolve that. Eventually, she gets (justifiably) mad that I’m not listening to her. If she had opened with “But I don’t like monster truck rallies.” That would be a different context. I’d instead have suggested other activities instead.
But if she can’t use her big girl words, you can’t read her mind.

S2.b - I love the time travel metaphor. Basically saying that we can’t go back and kill Baby Hitler, because that war set things in motion. Or entire world would change.
Time travel stories never say the new timeline will be worse, but we always assume. But like, the relative drop in global combat was a direct response to the Attrocities committed in the war.
I forget who, but a newly appointed and improved EPA boss pointed at the absurdly huge book of all their rules. “Every rule in there, is because someone died.” We TRY to predict, but we always miss some. I’m told that the various Intel agencies had all the info needed to stop 9/11, but since they didn’t share between all departments, no one group or person had all the necessary pieces.
