Mate this is the best video I've watched, I've been watching loads of videos and they were all just too complicated. So I'll be watching this again when I'm all set up and doing my first water change, thanks mate 👍
Yeah same here, imma wanting to do almost everything exactly like he has done here. The only difference for me will be pumping that awesome waste water straight onto my fruit trees/ veggie patch... Besides that it's perfect. Not only quicker and easier, but bugger all mess
thats a good idea, using a pond pump. i use garden hose with modified pvc pipes, has got a valve on it so makes it easy to start and stop the water flow. used to clip the hose to the tank's glass using a plastic clamp bought from hardware store, the pipes going nowhere but just easier with the modified pvc. just loving those bosemanis with the plants mate!
Hats off to your setup. I use a no python no spill fill n drain system but wanted a pump to drain and fill faster. The problem lies when filling the tank up again. I have separate hot and cold taps so I have relied on filling it up with mostly cold water and putting some hot water in for the last 10-20%. This is not good for getting the approxiamate 25c temp so I was going to the trouble of installing a mixer tap so I can control the temperature exactly. Now I see you solved this by fitting a Y piece with hoses that fit over the taps without leaking. I have 3 hozelock type connectors just to fit the kitchen taps. I think it better you fill into a bucket first to get the temperature right and adding the Prime as it alot safer for the fish. I found no problem adding the Prime to my aquarium into the flow of water filling it and my bacteria is not killed off. Well done!
Thank you! Yeah I think adding the water to the tank and then setting the temp is fine as the remaining water in the aquarium will stabilise the temp. I just shut off the filter and add the prime before and after filling. It’s deffo better than buckets haha
@@KieransFish I don't bother with a vacuum tube to clean the sand. But can see by stirring the sand will release the dirt into the water and the fast draining of the pump will suck the dirt away before it settles. Better than a vacuum. I am still waiting on a pump.
Love the tank and method, thanks. Just bought all the kit to do this on my 180! only thing I needed to do better was buy enough hose - about 3m short lol
did yours come with a 15mm outlet? Its listed as compatible with a 20mm pond hose I thought and that's why I have asked the question above. I got a little confused by the connection sizes???
A washing machine hose guide/bracket can be hooked over the aquarium to secure the hose while refilling. One can also attach something like the rose/nozzle from a watering can to diffuse the water while refilling the aquarium.
Thanks for this, my dad unfortunately passed away and left my mum with a 5ft tank thats in desperate need of a clean out..... this will help me out loads.... Thank you

I'm sick of using buckets to take the water from my tanks! I will buy a pond pump now!😁🙏🏽😊I already use a flexy garden hose attached to my kitchen tap to fill up my tank and works great for me!🐟
@@KieransFish Yeah that wouldn't be great!🤦🏽♀️ I use my gravel vacs(×2) and have four buckets that I change simultaneously. a few times I have had a few spills on the way to the toilet💦.... I have just ordered a 1500(GPH) pump from Amazon for 20 quid and I'm getting the flexi hose from Toolstation for a tenner.
I changed water on my Juwel tank without pumps. Pumps are not necessary. The laws of physics and gravity works like pumps. You can connect one end to the tap, the other to the tank submerged. Then open the tap till no bubble in the tank, then disconnect on tap side. Now the cut of water in will flow backwards pulling water and creating suction drawing out water from tank. No pumps needed been doing it this way since I grew up watching my dad do it. It works at maximum flow of your hose. Exactly the same way. But the pump works great if ya need to prepare your water. My fish are hardy I put treatment after filling the tank. Nice video tho.
Not bad... but I've done better by placing a garden hose diverter valve inline on the filter output. I just connect my drainage/filling hose to it, close one valve and open the other, and just let the system pump it out. To refill, I connect the hose to a nearby tap--via quick-connect--with a inline RV/Marine carbon filter and other diverter valve in between, and run the water to match the tank's temperature before flipping all the necessary valves to refill the tank. As the tank fills, I take a moment to clean the glass and add all the treatment chemicals directly into the tank. Once the desired level is reached, all the valves are shut--ncluding a pair on the hose, to prevent draining or spillage--the tap is shut-off... and the hose, diverter valve & inline carbon filter is disconnected and placed in a bucket w/air-tight lid.
Hi may I ask a question? Just bought the same pump and 30m of 20mm pond hose to do the same. I am a little confused with the 2 outlet adapters that come with the pump? It appears to be a 20mm inlet and 16mm outlet although its not listed like that? How did you connect the 20mm to the outlet of the pump please? Thanks

It's one of these pumps: amzn.to/2X1c06g and then you just buy the pond hose to match the size of the pump outlets.
