Awesome Ron! Will that Cipher from the other one fit on the end of the new hose so you can clean the poop out the gravel at the same time or do you have an under gravel cleaner????? This was great information because I have a 75gal that houses 7inch Oscars and 8 inch Dempseys that get pretty dirty in the gravel and we been using your old method for years. My 55gal community tank don’t get as dirty but this would be a great way to get that water out and back in of both. Please let me know if that fit so I don’t have to send anything back once I order it.
Thanks and welcome to the fish parenting family🤣.

So…The pump is actually in the tank when emptying so this is really only for water changes. I still use the Python gravel cleaner to clean the gravel which is a totally separate process. I guess that’s where the total Python no spill system will shine because you can do it all in one step but…you are really only cleaning the gravel every month or every other month depending on your bio load but water changes are done weekly or every other week depending on your nitrate levels. For me, it’s about speeding up the process. I can take my time when I’m doing gravel cleaning because I can quickly stop the siphon by squeezing the hose and really get the gravel and other surfaces clean without dumping out too much water. In other words, it’s the best of both worlds to me. 💪🏾

Or you could use your 550 g per hour pump and 1/2" diameter clear hose to do gravel vac and or sand cleaning as it goes slower and you have time to do maintenance in your tank every month or 2 months when you need to,right, that way your older system is not wasted, thats what I and other older fish tank owners do up here in northern ontario and beautiful long wintery days in Canada...Thanks for the info on the new system,Im passing it on and sharing your videos to other old tank lovers here in canada...be safe and have a good time chilling with your fish as we all need stress reducing time outs in the hard times were all going through these past few years with covid and the economy not so good for everybody all over the world....

Good stuff. I was just shopping around for a water change system for my first tank, heard Python was good, checked price, uh huh.... Saw Hygger was a cheaper alternative of the same thing. Price was a little steep still for what is just a length of tubing and some plastic fittings. Watched comparison video on the two. Happened to scroll down in the comments and saw someone recommended this method. Then I found your video. Thank you! This method is much faster and comes in around the same price total as the Hygger version.

If you add a hose fitting to your pump after about 20cm, and to your hose, you can have a fast mechanism to connect/disconnect the hose to the pump. PUMP->Hose(20cm)->Hose fitting>2 Way Hose Coupling Joiner>Hose fitting> Hose. Also, gravel is not the best substrate for fish keeping. Perhaps one of the worst. YT father fish.

Main things for me was first being able to hook it to that fancy faucet and second, making sure the water temperature is correct before refilling. Also, kinda scared of sucking up fish as we have a lot of nano fish. Finally this method waste less water. I still use the Python siphon for cleaning the gravel.

@@coffek74 just got to think 🤔 , similar size of a random
" table " that most people would have in parts of the home , someone might have a l device that will light up the room ..... while others do things like , place keys and sunglasses or I remember that one of the " tables " had a beautiful wood serving dish and that was memorable for how gnarly it was and it was also doubling as a candy dish .... That leads me to my attempts @ humor and that most appropriate big box Rubbermaid roughneck plus the matching lid ( crucial piece ) can be covered by a appropriate sized and shape tablecloth , I have even seen examples of saltwater creatures as well ....then same big box store or a quick GOOGLE search for a circle shaped top ( glass , wood , brass or acrylic and I have a good feeling that would be the best place to set a plant alongside a Saltwater for Dummies 🤭🤔

That would be cool then you you just tell Alexa to stop the pump. 💪🏾 I’m typically right there watching and just flip the switch on the surge protector.
