      Tetra EasyBalance is the easiest and most affordable way to remove nitrates. It literally says it reduces nitrates and phosphates on the rear label. Hope this helps.

      I have all those plants in several tanks but my nitrates are always there at various levels, one tank i have stated remains and fluctuates at 50-70ppm, heavily planted with fast growing stem plants and floating plants no matter what nitrate never drops below 50ppm and never rises above 70ppm its just the nitrate levels that tanks fish produce but its only 6 months old and hasn't yet established anaerobic bacteria where as in older tanks that have the nitrates drop by around 10/30%, in my experience.
      My lowest tank is around 30/40ppm all fish are happy and healthy throughout all the nitrate levels in my tanks its never a problem and nitrate does not keep climbing and climbing.
      Seachem Prime dont deny that their product kills anaerobic bacteria so using a dechlorinator to treat chlorine to do a water change for nitrate reduction will effect the natural anaerobic bacteria that takes 6mths to grow in deep low oxygenated substrates so you will always have higher nitrate if using dechlorinators rather than allowing nature in your tank to establish and stop fearing the dreaded enigma "nitrate".
      My experience keeping fish and shrimp in heavily planted tanks and deep sand substrates all with various levels of nitrate tells me fish and shrimp don't care what the levels are they're always healthy, shrimp breed, zero loses, zero stress, i have zero unbalanced water because i never use chemicals to treat water, algae or nitrate. There's natural ways to balance a tank without the need for commercial products designed to create other problems hence purchasing more products to counteract the first.
      I know many who have gone the same way as myself and it wakes you up to the industry its full of deliberate misconceptions and misleading products you really don't need and whilst saving money all that time plus you learn how nature works and solves problems in tanks its own way not learning a catalogue of misguided products to solve a problem thats really not a problem and easily fixed by researching and talking to those who keep fish/shrimp and maintain natural ecosystems not maintained quarantine tanks created on the marketing industries guidelines.

      @@FishFace2216 a lot of industry guidelines go out of the window when you do a heavily planted tank with healthy microfauna population. Those guidelines are set with the assumption that you do not attempt plants and have a mostly fish only setup. Not everyone is into planted tanks and I think it’s good to acknowledge that.
      I think it’s too much attacking on either side with the natural folks calling Bs on the industry while the manufacturers call y’all quacks. Both have their place and I do think long term a more natural environment is where you want to get it’s just that many aren’t ready or willing to take that step at the time.

    • @FishFace2216
      @FishFace2216 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @AquariumStoreDepot Agreed, plus the industry will always defend its products and create a million reasons why you went wrong not using their products they make it impossible to argue but i and many have personally seen that its all mostly marketed for profit and not for the natural fish keeping. I don't get into arguments on this i state whats going on with my tanks and people take it or leave it i don't get annoyed with the people i get annoyed with the industry who literally know they create misguided products and misguided information on keeping fish and shrimp for both planted and non planted tanks.
      I like your take on this whole thing and i see more and more people seeing the industry for what it is and whats more is it all makes things very confusing either way you go for beginners just starting out and thats what frustrates me the most ive seen so many give up because they cannot find level ground amongst the influx of information especially when both sides contradict each other but the best place to start is think of nature and follow that direction its a much nicer natural way than the industries fear tactics and chemical solutions.

    How i maintain my Nitrates to hover between 10-20 ppm despite being a bit overstock - 1. Consistent tank maintenance (i do water change every 2 wks regardless of the nitrate level. 2. Adding more plants (pothos and hornwort are so effective!) 3. Adding filter media such as Matrix or Denitrate (not as good as the aquatic plants but it does help). I have 65, 55, 40, 10 and 5 gallon community planted tanks and no issues so far with high nitrate.

    I learned from a TH-cam video that to lower nitrates in fish tanks, you can change water frequently, grow live plants, use filter media, equipment like reverse osmosis, and avoid overfeeding and overcrowding. It helps keep fish healthy.

      There is an intimation factor to plants for sure. Once you are successful with them, you realize how easy freshwater aquariums can be when you work with hardy live plants like the ones mentioned in the video.

    I'm new to owning fancy and fantails and boi I didn't know how much work goes into looking after them so salt water more luxury fish are out the window for now🙈I'm still struggling with nitrite levels 😢I have plants a good aquarium tank but only using the sponge filter but even though I do regularl water changes I still get high levels 😢I think im to thick to understand all the rules of keeping goldfish but I'm sure I'll learn still early days 2 and a half mths isn't long so I'm sure the cycle will happen soon😢Love your vids sorry I'm dyslexic so writing isn't my speciality 🙈

      Goldfish are tough on your bioload. You might need more biological filtration area if it’s nitrites. How long has the tank been running and what do you have in it?

      @@flowjo4038 awesome glad to help. Manage your nirite levels with water changes in the meantime. It will take some time for your biological filter media to catch up. Don’t add anymore livestock until your nitrite levels are 0

    I’m ok with water changes But if you replace your filter media all the time there goes the beneficial bacteria that lives in there?? What’s the point of even bothering to cycle a new your tank if you are just going to throw filter media away? I thought you were meant to rinse it in tank water to get rid of anything gross in there and replace when it’s literally falling apart. And even then you only replace part of it at a time never the whole lot??
    So much contradictory information out there 🙄
