"updates regarding the cruise industry"? Do you also subscribe to a "cooking with Spam" food site too? I see one of these
cruise company "culture club" members coming with their 60 prior cruise pictures, I run like hell away from these losers. If you know too much about cruising, it's time to take a break. It is.

Thankfully 68 were rescued! If you ever visited the Dry Tortugas (US Fort off of Key West) they have some of the wooden boats and rafts where people fled from Cuba to the United States. It is kind of amazing the boats that were used and it kinds of reminds me of what Gilligan and the Skipper would build.

Why rescue them? This is a danger to the passengers. There is a mini series about this story and frankly, this isn’t the role of a passenger vessel. These illegal sometimes criminals are dangerous and riddled with drug resistant tuberculosis and other germs and viruses. Totally unacceptable.

They haven’t got a choice. Certainly not out of goodness of their heart nonsense. It’s maritime law….nothing else

Do you think the human smugglers responsible for these murders will even refund the money they over-charged the victims for this death voyage?

Certainly the people on the cruise will get a refund of a significant part of their cruise fees. If the ship wants to go off course to save risk taking illegal immigrants, the cruisers should not have the value of their cruise decreased without compensation.

Maritime law "worldwide" stipulates that it's mandatory for all vessels in the area to come to the rescue of ALL people and vessels that are in distress. The fact that they are illegal doesn't override the fact that they are human and all human lives matter. They will be handed over to the relevant authorities as soon as possible. They will not be able to mingle with passengers (especially those who are as delicate as you), and therefore, compensation shouldn't be required or expected unless a significant portion of the cruise is affected. I pray that you and your family will get assistance if and when it's required, regardless of your personal circumstances.

Other than obeying maritime laws, it's the humane thing to do. I've been on two cruises that have been diverted for medical issues. Compensation never is questioned. Most humans understand that.
