I’ve heard several versions of this great song, no one comes remotely close to hers. Her phrasing, timing, and delivery are spot on! She embraces both the comedic and sad aspects of the message.
Can I say how much I adore this song? It's so cool because nearly the entire song seems semi-comedic, and doesn't really make you feel anything until the *very last line.* How can 5 words hit that much? That's a first! I never cried that fast! Good job JRB!
Audra McDonald is probably the gold standard on this song, hard to top, but this interpretation is easily the next best one I've seen & heard. And the guitar harmonics at the end under "my God" is sublime. I really enjoyed her phrasing and sense of timing, and obviously her voice is just beautiful. Bookmarked.

This song has such a pretty melody, and even prettier message! Also, sung by a queen!
What’s the message?
