This is perfect example of Sho’s excellence!!! This is a very simple song to sing, no extreme belts, no crazy riff (both thing Sho is fantastic at) but she still brings out the beauty in the song and when she sings she tells a story not just with her voice but with her face even when she messed up she still jumped right back into telling the story!!! This is why she’s one of my favorite broadway actresses of all time
The song is simple in one way (like you said - not lots of belts or range) - I totally agree. It is also VERY hard to master singing on the first bridge so consistently well, and it can be quite taxing. Many singers would mistake this for an "easy" song to sing (I know that isn't what you said-just elaborating here) but sitting right on the A in a perfect mix takes a master. Sho is a MASTER singer. So happy to read so many other great comments on her excellence. For any singers out there feeling like this should be easier to sing-be kind to yourself! Songs that sit on an A are a killer :) much love x
Her ability to convey a message through song is unbelievable. Anyone who has followed Sho for years knows how deeply connected she is to Home by Scott Alan and this song. Emotion packed relationship songs are her sweet spot.
I used this video as an aid when I was learning this song because I was struggling with the simplicity of it. I uploaded it tonight for my virtual Musical Theatre III class. :)
I’m used to Audra McDonald singing this and seeing her sing this live twice in concert. This version is very close. I’m anxious to see her performing live.

Oh my God! So funny how she fix the mistake she made, “ f*ck” and she goes on!
I’m a newbie singer and I need to learn how to do that.

I thought Audra McDonald's version was my favorite! Well, I guess it was until this.
Betty Buckley does a marvelous version as well.
Donna Murphy’s version is just as fantastic ❤
