The guy at the back was called Cressa, he wasn't officially a member, and as you picked up on at the end he did handle some of the effects but mostly did dancing.

The guy doing the intro is Tony Wilson who had a TV show called so it goes. He discovered Joy division and founded factory records in 1979. Check out a movie called “24 hr party people “ to see his story. By the time of this Stone roses performance his label was going broke. Hence the references at the beginning. The stone roses gave him a demo that got them on his TV show.

The birth of the second wave of English Rock music taking over the world! Anybody watching this TV performance will have no idea what’s going to come in 1994. But this TV performance is as important as when the Beatles played the Royal command Performance in November 1963. Or when the Sex pistols swore on the Bill Grundy show in December 1976. Guys you are watching a whole new movement of Indi music coming. And no body in the music industry had a effing clue about this in 1990 ! Lol

Always thought this melody had a whiff of ring of fire.

Funny you talk about how good Squires is. Please. The lack of technique is obvious to anyone who plays guitar. Amazing how much they get out of so little

So that is the stone Roses….So err yep I really don’t like this. Apologies to any stones Roses fans but for me it was real bad. The guitar sounds are too jangly and tinny, its sounds like hippie music from the 60’s were there hippies in the 60’s ? The singer sounds depressed and he dances like a grand pa at a wedding I had to put on subtitles to find out what he was saying. The singer was flat and off key . I figure this sounds like a demo track created in a bedroom by a bunch of 13 yo’s Imagine that’s what they would come up with.

Jay we love seeing comments like this haha! Music is subjective and we love to see people give their honest opinion and explain why it didn’t land with you!
Appreciate you taking the time to comment!

@@MoreMeetArthur thats ok your my education into strange English music btw what the name of your band ? I’ll be looking them up on Spotify- beware I’m hyper critical of things that hurt my ears. like when our cats jumps on our piano and then knocks my cello over! Also I’m particular about vocals unless they’re country singer, they get a free pass even if they suck

Thanks Jay, you are spot on. Heard of but never listened to this band and probably will never listen them again.
      I'd score them 20/100

Wash those ears out. Their seminal debut album is widely regarded as one of the best British albums ever made.
