I was in general thinking of short videos of showing where the different bits are, but will have to see. The oil pressure switch is at the front of the engine on the block, left from the turbo. It is pretty tight there, so you may need to remove the front exhaust with the shields in order to get access to it. It is just above the oil dipstick, or where the dipstick tube goes inside the block of the engine, just above that.
Hi after replacement of the EGR valve is it mandatory to reset the errors with the diagnostic software? What about the recalibration? I'm going to put an Valeo valve like the original.
Yes, with a new EGR you may want to do the recalibration. Otherwise the ECU might not know where the upper and lower positions are. Faults are likely to reset on their own, but it will not correct itself without recalibration.
Updated version of this is here: th-cam.com/video/wTQtVJEqGXI/w-d-xo.html and the different plugs here th-cam.com/video/-ZqiyCFg0sI/w-d-xo.html One of the plugs is for the fuel heater and the other for the water in diesel sensor.
Hi Algarve and thank you for the very good question! You are absolutely correct, it is caused by the air filter box rubbing on the EGR valve. I have addressed this and explained how it happens here: th-cam.com/video/qBNSyRF79VQ/w-d-xo.html It is a very common issue and I have seen it properly digging a hole, but it is rather difficult to say how much of a problem it is. Some of the electronic bits and pieces are on the EGR cap (for some of the designs as there are different designs), so the airbox can potentially distort or damage some of the electronics, so it could make the EGR to stop working. I do not think it makes a difference to the airflow/gasses, as the top does not get involved in the recirculation of air/exhaust gasses. All in all, my humble opinion is that it should be amended and not let the airbox create a hole in the EGR valve. All the best.

Hi christy4, I am really sorry that this was the wrong size for your engine. To be honest I do not really know why this would be so. The parts that I put in the description are parts that I have tested myself on my car and they fit. I suspect your engine is the same? Either the seller has sent something else or your engine is some modification that I have not seen before. This clamp should fit all 1.6HDi and TDCis. Does it say 1628 3J?
No no jeez you’ve been a great help with your videos thanks a million it’s just I’ve had to leave it off for now as I needed the car. I’ll buy another on eBay. Mines a Citroen C5 with the same engine. Maybe the join’s smaller although I doubt it or maybe amazon sent the wrong one. It had that number on the packet. I’ll see if I can put a proper one on by feel as I found the air filter set up on those mountings a bit of a nightmare. I’m going to try the wider o ring you recommend as I get a lot of oil onto the engine from it. In no way was I blaming you and as I say you’ve been a great help. I’m doing the timing belt tomorrow 😱😨🤢
EGR stands for Exhaust Gas Recirculation valve. It simply re-routes some of the exhaust gasses to go back into the engine instead of fresh air to reduce the temperature of combustion within the cylinders and hence a reduction in NOx gasses and sometimes reduces pumping losses from an engine during engine braking.
Good video thanks, but in my 307 it's not to easy to remove that egr valve front glass It going In to engine chamber, and the place is limited, but of course it is possible to do :)
I have posted a new (i.e. updated) video that covers pretty much everything to do with cleaning/dismantling the EGR valve in 1.6HDi/TDCi engines. You can view it here: th-cam.com/video/wTQtVJEqGXI/w-d-xo.html
It was a while ago, but as far as I remember it was 8mm 2 bolts, although I might be wrong, should have written this in the description. About the plenty of room, that is quite true. @@mikey2811 Not too sure if wire cutters would work, it is pretty solid metal bracket, but it might work. I only used the tool once and as you said pretty wasted money. I bought a new EGR and it was sticking on the 6th month, cleaned it, still sticking at ~30%. I think the channel was not entirely smooth and could not slide back as easy. If you clean yours and it is still sticking, check if the channel is clean and the pin inside can slide just by shaking it. That is what happens in the car. I think you may have some success with a combination of wire cutters and a screwdriver. I think I have seen people unclipping it with a screwdriver, but it did not budge when I tried it. Not too sure if a jubilee clip or a cable tie will work, as there are lips on the EGR intercooler and the EGR itself. The clip holds or goes over both lips. The EGR valve gets pretty hot, hot gasses pass through. Hope this helps, but let me know, I can measure the tool/original clip.

There could be a lot of symptoms, ranging from rough idling to no power or limp mode if it has broken in an open state. Mine was broken in a closed state, so I did not have any symptoms while driving the car. There were several codes when read with odb2 scanner. Nevertheless, the car will produce more NO2, as no exhaust gas can go back into the engine and reduce the temperature of burning of diesel. Hope this helps.
@@Underpressure11 Potentially yes, but depends on how you define healthier though. The higher temperature in the chamber is not too good thing and who knows how it impacts the engine overall. It could be just emissions, but I suspect it will somewhat impact on the consumption as to run without an EGR it needs new ECU map.
Thank you, cleaned inlet manifold/throttle body and sensors all of which were gummed up. Tool your advice and checked egr valve and cleaned further.i went for a few drives and thought it was solved - 40 mile later it thee same codes. I have now blanked valve and to be honest the van is a lot better especially on first start up of the day. Have you any further videos planned ? Lawrence
Hi Lawrence, I meant to check if the pin slides ok in the channel of the EGR valve. Blocking the EGR valve might have some unintended consequences, among other things it may overall increase fuel consumption when driving on say a motorway. I think there was a really good video in my liked videos, where this was explained in fairly good detail. I have a few videos, but will have to do them one by one, too many other things going on at the moment. Main one that is coming is proper longer-term crankcase pressure and some other oil catch can modifications. I will have to do the coolant fairly soon, so this will be coming as well.
Thank you, I’ve pretty much give up with this valve. Cleaned twice thoroughly, checked solenoid and all working, delete codes and mil back on. There are other codes showing but the code relevant to this will not go. I intend to cap this, only drawback is re map, as this can only do a stage 1 which is basically a tune up and delete egr, the cost is £150 quite shocking for a box to be unticked. On a lighter note, how about a rocker cover gasket replacement ? Seems to be a common problem. By the way the clip on the egr/cooler, I am sure you highlighted an alternative one that did not require the clic tool, if I am correct have you the part number or further info. Thank you, will update you on the re map and closure of the valve.
Hi Lawrence, you may want to check if the channel that holds the pin (for the valve itself) is smooth and the pins slides smoothly. I had a brand new EGR valve and was consistently returning an error, e.g. stuck at ~35%. The grooved channel was not drilled quite smoothly and sometimes the pin could not get past an imperfection. The alternative that does not require the clic tool is 16283J.

Hi mad monk, that is a first for me, unless there is not a separate warning light for an EGR fault and you get some sort of generic handbrake/esp fault. I do not think there is a specific light for an EGR fault, so it could be that this combination gives you an indication that something is wrong, e.g. EGR.
My anti freeze / water light comes in and flashing stop on start up for gd 10 mins. Plugged in EGR blocked Also smokes really bad on start up. Once got it’s fine. Blanking egr valve of tomorrow. Hopefully it goes to plan.

Very helpful video 😊
Travail très appliqué et soignée .Très bonne vidéo.
I ordered this replacement clamp and it was too big ?
@@chisty4436 Weird. Not too sure what to say, perhaps something from ebay with the same PSA number will be the correct size.
Do i have egr valve in my berlingo 2.0 hdi from 2006 ?
Yes, all HDi will have an EGR valve.
What is the erg
EGR stands for Exhaust Gas Recirculation valve. It simply re-routes some of the exhaust gasses to go back into the engine instead of fresh air to reduce the temperature of combustion within the cylinders and hence a reduction in NOx gasses and sometimes reduces pumping losses from an engine during engine braking.
Good video thanks, but in my 307 it's not to easy to remove that egr valve front glass It going In to engine chamber, and the place is limited, but of course it is possible to do :)
Very informative..! Does a new EGR need reprogramming if installed brand new? I have the C4 HDI 1.6 Diesel? Thanks
Hi Gabriel, yes, a new EGR would need re-programming. The ECU needs to re-learn the EGR valve. For the C4 there is lexia or diagbox.
@@moremolecules if i buy a used one, it doesn't need to reprogram it ?
@@Cateyes86 Sorry, I did not mean a new one, I meant if you put any EGR valve that is not the current one. It needs to be programmed in the ECU.
@@moremolecules mine old died and i bought new one, installed it and light went away and 3 years later it still works.
I have posted a new (i.e. updated) video that covers pretty much everything to do with cleaning/dismantling the EGR valve in 1.6HDi/TDCi engines. You can view it here: th-cam.com/video/wTQtVJEqGXI/w-d-xo.html
Is it an 8mm spanner to remove the 2 bolts holding the EGR valve?
You seem to have a lot of hand room. Did you remove the air duct prior to this?
It was a while ago, but as far as I remember it was 8mm 2 bolts, although I might be wrong, should have written this in the description.
About the plenty of room, that is quite true. My engine is 1.6hdi and the engine bay is designed for a 2.0hdi, hence the room space. I am quite lucky in that respect.
cant0do0better My next door neighbor reckons the 2 bolts are torx30 but can't see it myself. I reckon they must be 8mm.
They are certainly not torx, but hexagon, although I cannot quite recall if they were 8mm
Hello 👋
Can you remember how big the clip was for the clic-r? I was going to replace it with a normal screw type.
Hi mikeyp, I still have the old clic-r type clamp and can measure it if you want, but the new one I put on and it was the perfect size is part number: 16283J. Let me know and I can measure the original one.
@@moremolecules hey not a problem. I can see you replaced it. Can you use wire cutters instead? Trying to not buy a tool I'll never use again.
Ps thanks for your video and I'm going to give it a go in cleaning mine. Mines only 2 years old and it's sticking already. I've got some cleaner and I'll use your method on your other vid.
Ps thanks for replying. I might use a jubilee clip or a cable tie. Does the egr get hot?
Mike
@@moremolecules thank you so much for your help.
I'll have a look as when it was replaced before I'm not sure what was used to seal it back.
Thanks again. Great vid
One other question. Can you reuse the old clip with those pliers? Does one side unlock and the other lock? Trying to not buy extra things I don't need
Hi. Thanks for the great vid. Is the EGR in the same location in 2.0 HDI Partner?
I think it is the same location. You can follow the EGR pipe that is on top of the engine almost.
@@moremolecules Ah thank you very much. I will give a try today.
salut, j'aimerais savoir quelle sont ses mauvais fonctionnement (comment reconnaître qu'elle est en panne)Valve.
@@moremolecules so basically your car was healthier without a working egr valve? :))
What mileage was this done and was it the original
Hi Shane, the car had travelled at the time ~73,000 miles and the EGR valve was the original one.
Hi! Can faulty EGR valve cause bigger fuel consumption?
It could increase fuel consumption, but it will depend on if it is stuck on open or closed position or somewhere in between.
Hi will it be the same for a pug 207 1.6
I suppose it should be, if it is the 1.6HDi, but depends if it is newer than mine. Should not be too different though.
Where did you get the screw type clic clamp?
ebay. You can search with the Peugeot/Citroen part number: 16283J
cant0do0better hey bro. Can you help me with something again?
I searched the manufacturer code (16283J) on ebay, there are still some there.
look i closed my egr valve and i am getting a P0299 fault code. do you have a obd2 reader? if so .... could you close your egr valve and check if you are also getting this message... tnx bro
I have not seen this error, but read here (www.peugeotforums.com/forums/207-36/my-turbo-done-fault-code-p0299-191546/) to see if that helps
Man good video but loose the watch, I'm sure you know the damage it will do if you short it. Not worth the risk get a wall clock
Hi Mark, many thanks for the advice. I have not really thought about it. Good one, next time no watch :-)
Your talking rubbish
Great video thanks, my c4 GP has warning lights saying handbrake faulty esp/ fault, and have found that it’s the egr valve which had caused this !?!? Strange I know. Do you know any reason this would be? Hope you can help ? Many thanks
Plugged in EGR blocked
Also smokes really bad on start up. Once got it’s fine.
Blanking egr valve of tomorrow.
Hopefully it goes to plan.

Yeah, I think I bought it in 1997 and I still have it.
Thinking of selling our Berlingo. It started to cause problems and it only has like 76000km. Yesterday the AdBlue pump died, cost ca. 800EUR. Not willing to pay so much I had it bypassed via a software tune up. The guy hooked up the computer and said the EGR valve is jammed too.... Common guys, WTF is this?
Yeah, the adblue pump is problematic on the berlingo. EGR jamming at 76k is a bit too soon.
Tres claire
Baya culo quitar esa egr como para hacerlo uno mismo .

I bet you're one of those people who sit in the Pub talking about how fantastic 'my car' is, with a captive audience, until they realise you are talking about a run of the mill Citroen and they leave you to it and start talking among themselves about football, etc.
My C4 1.6 Hdi gets oil changed/serviced every 3000 miles, washed every couple of weeks and the engine bay gets hit with a jet wash as, and when, I think to do it.
I tend to talk about art and literature.

Thank you Rc Adventures north wales, much appreciated.
DPF filters, EGR valves, AdBlue, Eolys... I'll never buy another crappy oil burner again. Why would anyone.
Hmm, I bought my car back in 2011, so the general consensus at the time was that they are fisrt of all better engines and second produced a lot less CO2. Now, they are a lot more economical than petrol engines and of course in order to reduce harmful pollutants you need the, as you have put it, DPF, EGR, AdBlue Eolys, etc. Why do you think trucks, most of them, are still diesels? Because they are crappy oil burners...
