- In this video I go over how to change the oil and filters in a Kayo K6-R 250cc dirt bike....this process will be the same or similar in many other bikes with a Zongshen NC 250 bottom end, like SSR, GPX, EGL and others.

I'm completely building my 2022 sr250s nc250 to a 84mm truth 300 with 4° timing key recluse three stage clutch bigger cam wisco piston high performance valves and valve springs , rockers Fox suspension this thing is going to be a monster already keeps up with 450 Hondas no problem 6 Speed 80 mph stock
A good refresher on all those filters you need to clean...
BTW, this was the first time I left the factory oil in a Chinese engine (EGL A17)...the dealer assured me that it was "break-in" oil that needed to stay in for about a tank of fuel.
It looked better than I thought it would, but there was some debris on the magnet and in the screens...I'll probably change it again in another tank to see what the wear looks like then.
Good video . playing with fire on those really cheap thin plugs using an impact. Mine were super tight at 1st too
I certainly didn't want to...someone tightened them with one....I put a little grease on the threads when I put them back on....and no impact just a ratchet to tighten them.👍
Reminds me of a KTM oil change...

Yeah, that 2 stroke looks neat, I hope someone will try to do a full MX build of one...I know of some mods that can be done to really get that thing going. 😏

Would be nice if you can look them up tho mine is the 10ten 250rx it’s absolutely spot on love it I’m 50 now and didn’t want something competitive I sold my last bike 5 years ago and just wanted a bike to have fun with grand children on there’s.
@@andrewnewcomb3889 , I just looked them up...pretty cool air cooled 250...like my old Orion 250..fun easy to work on off road bikes.
@@Dirt_Bike_Dave yea ideal for what I need Dave haven’t had no problems with it at all.It’s just for fun with grand kids sold the crf450 5 years ago to much for me now.My first motocross bike was the YZ 125N in 1985
On the two small filters there is a large end and a small end you did not tell people which end to put back in first what can cause catastrophic damage that is something you should have not left out because many people will throw their filters back in the wrong way not the large one but the two small ones just saying
They only fit 1 way
@@Dirt_Bike_Dave brother yet again not true you could put them in either way and still bolt it together I've seen people do it by accident my buddy put both his filters in small side first almost blew his bike up that's the only reason I'm saying it could be done cuz I've seen it done it could have been done by stupid but it was done not trying to argue or anything like that trust me just want people to be aware
Where did you get the water pump cover and what bike did you cross reference? Keep up the great work with the videos

Great video but I'm a bit confused. You mentioned it's 1500 ml but is a little less than 2 qts. 1500 ml is 1.585 qts. Is it 1.6 qts or something like 1.9 qts?
One and a half quarts is just fine a little over that not a big deal as long as it's to the fill line or right in the middle of the two you're good

My 2021 SSR 300S has the larger metal screen and I bought the bike new, so it isn't a paper filter and that Kayo screen looks exactly like my SSR screen. I would guess at some point they made a change for the filter...
Totally possible , I know some others have told me they had a paper filter. I prefer the the metal screen type because you can just clean and reuse them.
@@Dirt_Bike_Dave Also, somewhere I had read 18 ftlbs on a torque wrench for the 17mm bolts and that seemed just right on my torque wrench. Right about tight plus an 1/8 turn...
@@pendamoniumpaladin1798 I thought about telling people torque specs, but not everyone owns a torque wrench. I also put a dab of grease on the threads sometimes...I did that off camera for those pesky smaller screen bolts...they had almost seized to the cases..defiantly don't over tighten them.
Im new here, just got the k6 efi yesterday and the dealer give me the metal screen filter. Be interesting to see what is in it when i change the oil the first time.

Should be the same or very close....Amazon has the filters, look for NC250 Zongshen

Amazon for a zongshen nc250...I have a metal one but they also have paper ones...that only last about 30hrs.
Hi there I have 2021 kayo ke EFI 250 how much oil does this bike take they didn’t give me book about the bike I brought it look different u have k6 r
The black plastic cap on the exhaust pipe side of the bike has it printed on it 1500ml I believe.
What size oil filter do they use? I have a k6 efi can’t find the oil filter size
I order them from the dealership I brought it from, takes about 10 days
What kinda of oil do the k6 250 kayos take
I always recommend Rotella T4
what is the k230 oil spec then? would it be the same.. my manual has the T series
Not sure Bud...but it is normally printed on the black oil filler cap.

Those bolts snap pretty easily be careful with that gun
Brother none of the NC motors come with paper filters I know for a fact cuz I sell them When you kept on saying it was a paper filter i was like wait until this man realizes it's not a paper filter you do not want to put a paper filter in any NC Motors it's too much restriction for them I will say this again do not put paper filters in the nc250 motor unless it is K&N and even then it restricts the flow
Dude..they have come with both from the factory.I do and did recommend the metal filter. 🤷♂️🤦♂️
@@Dirt_Bike_Dave yeah I never said you were wrong about anything it was more for whoever is watching just never put a paper filter in it s not good I know for a fact they don't put them in that anymore they don't sell these motors with paper filters maybe they did in the past but they don't anymore
