Time stops when listening to Pink Floyd. You literally get so lost in their stuff that the ending always kinda creeps up on you no matter how long the song. "Dogs" by them is 17min and change. "Echoes" approaches 24 minutes! Both Masterpieces. Check them out!!

I would say pause every few minutes not every 30 seconds. Songs like this take your mind on a journey and every time you pause it it takes your mind out of that sensation.

@@jimo7593 He's probably just trying to stay awake. I can't believe someone would recommend this to a new Pink Floyd listener. I loved Dark Side of the Moon. I got this album, Wish You Were Here, when it first came out. I thought it was going to be the worse purchase I had ever made. Luckily Side 2 was much better. I love this now but it is not a good song for someone who has only heard 6 Pink Floyd songs. I'd recommend Another Brick in the Wall Pt2, Have a Cigar, or Money.

A tragically beautiful song they wrote for their friend, Sid Barrett. The original master of Pink Floyd. Through drug use and the hardships of life, we lost his mind, and went crazy. This song will hit you a little differently when you realize this wasn’t written as a pop song to sell albums. But was written to tell their friend how incredible he was, and how much they’ll always miss him.

This song is about Syd Barrett, Pink Floyd's first lead singer. Syd had been out of the band since 1968 due to his mental health issues. Roger Waters asked who was sitting in their recording session. When he was told that it was Syd, he was crushed because he looked so different. He'd changed so much that Waters didn't recognize him. Ergo..."Remember when you were young, you shone like the sun"..."Now there's a look in your eyes, like black holes in the sky". Rogers said that Syd's appearance shook him to his core..."Shine on you crazy diamond".

Shine on You Crazy Diamond was written Roger Waters and David Gilmour of Pink Floyd, the song is about one of the two original founding members of Pink Floyd, Syd Barrett.
Syd Barrett IS the "Crazy Diamond"
In 1965 Pink Floyd was formed in London by Syd Barrett and Roger Waters, because of mental health and drug issues Syd Barrett was forced to leave the band by 1967.
David Gilmour who had joined Pink Floyd in 1966, took over Syd Barretts duties, (with great success btw), in the band. Throughout their long and successful careers, the other band members continued to pay Syd his full share of the profits, (which is considerable), until his death in 2006.
Pink Floyd continued to reference Barrett in many of their songs throughout their careers.

Welcome to 70’s Progressive Rock…Pink Floyd may be the best at this genre…such great talent. This song is about their former band mate, Syd Barrett, who was clearly a genius musician, but got caught up in the world of LSD and other drugs. He may have suffered from schizophrenia and other mental disorders, and it caused the band members to force him out of the band. A tragic loss, and they knew it, but had to be down be. He was replaced by Dave Gilmore, who was a friend of Syd Barrett’s. Also a fantastic musician. Syd was a crazy diamond of a man/artist!

You know, there are regulations about interrupting David's solo? You could get stoned!
A Pink Floyd song is not about «melody» nor rimes, as much as about emotions (normally dark emotions like despair, sadness, lonlyness, etc). David's guitare is expressing those universals emotions like no one else!
This song, like most Pink Floyd song, is like a movie score. The music (and few lyrics) guides you through your own life's experiences and the movie occurs in your head. So close your eyes and listen, it's your movie!

IMO, these early video's were before video's were being made... there was no rhyme or Reason for their context.
If you like Pink Floyd as much as it seems, sadly there is only ONE WAY you're going to see their music "live" in concert (2021+) other than an older dvd... more importantly done exacting to the studio albums adding a very good example of PF's "live" light show... you may wanna check out the following group that's IMO far better than a tribute band!!
The subsequent track is superbly performed by the tribute band "Brit Floyd" ~ Gilmour, Mason and Wright have said, "If they themselves wanted to see PF live, the only way that could ever happen is go see these guys." th-cam.com/video/RnHu3D8stGE/w-d-xo.html (one song from an entire 155 minute concert of PF Bliss; see comment at link for other tracks)
Pink Floyd was formed in 1965... their (most likely) last album was "The Endless River" in 2014. PF had 15 studio albums... 3 live albums, 9 compilation albums not to mention multiple live dvds and solo albums performed by below members of the band.
Syd Barrett (short-lived founder; guitar plus) the originator and quirky eccentric; inevitably the consequential muse. * January 6, 1946 (rip 2006)
Roger Waters (bass) was the cultivator (seed sower), the lyrically conceptual prodigy, secondary vocal and co-maestro of songwriting * September 6, 1943 (age 78 years)
David Gilmour (guitar) was the placidity, guitar virtuoso, the silky smooth voice and co-maestro; the equilibrium. * March 6, 1946 (age 75 years)
Richard Wright (keyboards) was the essential underlying symmetry; musical nurturer. Occasional singer. * July 28, 1943 (rip 2008)
Nick Mason (drums) was the heartbeat, structure and foundation; the sole member involved from the emergence of PF to the last recording. * January 27, 1944 (age 77 years)
FYI: The following Pink Floyd albums are Concept Albums (all songs together tell a complete story)... Dark Side Of The Moon (1973), Wish You Were Here (1975), Animals (1977) and The Wall (1979); The Final Cut (1983) is a maybe, as it was the last album with Roger Waters being in the band. *search on Wiki the album title to get the story behind the concept.
I myself suggest the following EPIC 10 live songs; the studio and "Brit Floyd" versions are phenomenal as well!! : 1) "Shine On You Crazy Diamond" 2) "Hey You" 3) "Us and Them/Any Colour You Like/Brain Damage/Eclipse" (all 4 parts) 4) "High Hopes" 5) "Time/Breathe Reprise" 6) "Dogs" 7) "Sorrow" 8) "Pigs (3 different ones)" 9) "Welcome To The Machine" 10) "The Great Gig In The Sky" 11+) There's so many... !!
Fun Fact: "You don't need drugs to enjoy Pink Floyd but you definitely need Pink Floyd to enjoy your drink and drugs!!"
Final Note: These guys have left us the embodiment of their musical journey to share, enjoy and reflect upon. * always listen to Pink Floyd with headphones or an awesome sounding music system.

With Floyd, it's best to lose yourself in the music. Let them take you on that emotional/psychological/philosophical/intellectual/spiritual journey. By pausing so frequently, you're breaking the mood and the flow and are doing yourself no favours by doing so... I understand that you feel that you have to keep pausing it but Floyd's copyright is pretty chill. For most of their stuff, you can get away with not pausing it at all. To be absolutely safe, one or two pauses should be fine. :)

I love it when you grab your chest while listening to Pink Floyd! Fuck the video here.... It's irrelevant.

It mus kinda suck to hear some Pink Floyd but then you can just go and listen to the whole record right away when you might want to cuz you gotta wait a month or whatever to react to another song and it’s gonna be the first time you hear it.

I don't recommend it but if you've ever done acid the video makes perfect sense lmao

Pink floyd is meant to be listened to while using psychedelic drug. Listing while on a hit of acid and explore a whole new universe. The 70's were the time for musical journeys.
