Thank you for highlighting the pros and drawbacks of Agile project management. It`s good to know that some of the risks may be avoided if you just understand what agile PM is and ensure that you and your team are set up to use it effectively and successfully.
My husband swears by Agile PM and I've learned a lot from him. You explained the benefits and pitfalls in such an easy and understandable way! Loved it.
Thank you for underlining the benefits and problems that are associated with Agile approach of project management. The ability to adapt to and even transform changing needs is Agile’s greatest virtue, but also its limitation. With fast development and swift changes requirement agile PM provides a lot of benefits and adaptability for unpredictable and dynamic project environment. Nevertheless, the problems are not passing, such as, the number of regular interactions and possible scale creep. Implementation of Agile PM requires this detailed knowledge of its principles and guiding principles, and the willingness on your team to apply it. In other words, you should understand this framework deeper and be ready for the Agile practices.
I get the whole "lean in" thing, but you naturally have a very quite voice, almost a whisper. Yes it does make me "lean in" and concentrate my focus in order not to miss anything which is good, I also have to repeat several times cause of some back ground noise.
@TheDaneRoth thanks for the feedback. My team would say my voice is far from quiet lol! You can turn on the closed caption for all my videos, hope this helps and again thank you! Cheers.
Every new project or product question I have today has an answering video from you. New subscriber and appreciating what you’re doing here. Thanks Adriana!
Hi Jason. I'm so pleased to hear that this video answered all your questions. Thank you so much for subscribing and I hope you continue to find value from my channel. Wishing you all the best, cheers!
I am definitely in the 65% who have never heard of agile before. But I love the idea of launching quickly! I have heard of scrum before though. Really love this concept and cannot wait to implement it.
One of the main reasons why agile methodology came into place, was the need of having project completed successfully (not only in term of budget, scope and time baselines) but also the value being delivered to the customer (customer satisfaction is the main objective!). Agile projects are value driven and are useful when working on projects with lot of complexity and uncertainty about vague requirements and customer needs (which is not an excuse for PMs ), reducing the cost of rework, schedule delays as mentioned in the video. They allow to deliver value quicker and incrementally based on a value prioritized backlog, which may also lead to finish the project earlier than expected, for example when the valued already delivered is already enough and additional work or residual value do not justify additional costs. I would mention also 2 important techniques such as progressive elaboration and rolling wave planning (which were already present in waterfall methodology btw). They are important for planning, executing and controlling iterations or releases. However the lack of support/culture from the management or lack on collaboration with the business and/or the customer may not bring the benefits that we know. Moreover it is important to have a skilled Agile PM (as servant leader) able to educate people when needed , nevertheless a supporting sponsor. cheers ;)
Great explanation of the benefits and pitfalls of Agile methodology. Seems like Agile would be a much better way to manage your project as long as you set it up properly for success.
Where are the project plans, gates and milestones? This is just an alternative to the V Model or Waterfall for example. That's software development not project management.
Have quick question, new follower here. In agile, i understand that we can use different frameworks depending on what fits and needed for the team. How do you usually measure or validate if they are immerse or use the principles and values of agile? Ex if they use fdd, or crystal.
Agile methodologies to work needs to be understood and followed. What methods does the organization use? Use that one so you are not reinventing the wheel. If no specific agile methodology is currently being used, find one that will work with your team and organization management style. Note: not only will you be managing the project but managing and educating everyone on the chosen methodology.
Hi, thank you for your great explanation! I have a question about how agile dealing with deadline. Compared to waterfall, agile is flexible which requirement can be change according to customer needs. I am wondering how deadline is being set in agile Thank you
Hi Wisnu. Deadlines for each specific item are done during the iteration cycle. Each deadline would be made for specific items being built during that iteration. The overall project deliverable date would be set at the beginning stages so everyone is clear as to when the final deadline for that project is. Hope this helps and thanks for watching, cheers!
Loved the video! Very insightful and it definitely put me more at ease in my new role as a project manager! Maybe check on your volume levels when you're recording your videos; it was a little low and I had to turn my computer volume up to the max. to hear you :)
Nice Adriana! I have heard about agile project management and I appreciate your clear explanation of it. Taking a project and turning it to simple digestible task. Eating the elephant one bite at a time, yes! Hope you enjoy your holidays!😊🙏
Great question! First lets look at what a milestone is. A milestone is an action or event marking a significant change or stage in development. So iteration is the cycle of activities or process of steps that lead you to your milestone. Once you have reached your milestone you can set a new one and start the cycle over again. Hope this has answered your question. Thanks so much for watching, cheers!

I'm looking for Agile Project Management, not Agile software development. Why do people say Project Management and then compare Agile to Waterfall? I know what SCRUM is for example. But what is the Agile equivalent to PRINCE2?
Hi Ashraf, Agile project management can be applied to almost any large scale project in any industry, including construction. Thanks for your question and for watching, cheers!
Hi, first of all thanks for creating such amazing tutorials, I have a question, recently i have joined a company with small projects with many same tasks. I have searched and I guess agile is a methodology that suits my projects the best. do we determine the methodology of our project at the initiation phase? and how is that? should I decide now about it? sorry if my question is a bit ambiguous and thanks for your help in advance
You are welcome. The methodology you use will be dependent on the culture of your organization as it needs to be supported by management. This can be discussed at initiation stage with your sponsor and steering committee.
Hi I'm from India. Can you please help me getting out from confusion or atleast give clearity.. I gained 1.8+ year of experience in project management domain as Project Manager in startup company.. but since now I left that company and I joined another company of Analytics & Buisness Intelligence Company (alphaa.ai).. where I was offered a position as technical consultant for - Data Science product.. I'm very much confused.. and I have joined also the company.. but I'm not clear whether this job position as technical consultant aligns with project manager in which I want to make career.. what should I do?
Hi Swapnil. I would ask for a little more clarity on what the roles and responsibilities will be for this new position. Only then will you know if it aligns with the role of a project manager. I have a video Roles of a Project Manager that you can check out and may be helpful. Thanks for watching and all the best. Cheers!
