I was once heavy into psychedelics, but I got to a point where I felt I got everything I needed out of them. Even with “bad trips,” I never felt more clarity about the course of my life and my relationships. For anyone considering using any for the first time: respect these substances and surround yourself with people you trust. It can be overwhelming, and I’ve had bad experiences that altered my perception for weeks. But the positives are spectacular, not only as a feeling but as a spiritual experience. P.S. you’ve never heard the beauty of music until you’ve listened while on LSD.
First one I did was mushrooms. A beautiful chocolate blessed by a shaman in Costa Rica. I did a 3day silent fast, set my intentions and had a wonderful experience. Mushrooms and I are good friends. So kind to me. The second was 5meo DMT. This time in Costa Rica. It was such a stunning and profound experience. I didn't ground before but I didn't need to. Somehow I managed to completely surrender to the Universe. I am so eternally grateful for that moment. I do not feel I have to do anything ever again. I didn't seek out 5meo, it found me which I believe is key. The most challenging part is falling back into old emotional patterns. It is a humbling scenario. Having that moment to reflect on helps me remember where I really come from.

I can’t believe he didn’t realize this until he did DMT. I think about stuff like this normally. Especially how it’s crazy to think everyone lives their own lives just like you. It’s wired to me kind of. And our parents were teenagers once. It’s weird when you really think about it.
To be honest, I always knew that. I'm not extra insightful or anything. I was just neglected and marginalized most of my life so I kinda learned first hand there are no good or bad people, just people living their lives, and reacting to their environments.
It is weird how everyone lives their own lives. And this statement "everyone lives their own lives" has endless meanings. Like the 2 comments above agreeing with you or that they already knew that- but I got a different perception from what you were saying. I've thought about how odd death is...and why or how does it always happen to "someone else" and no one alive knows what it is. And when one of us dies everyone we know still has "their own life".
I also think about my parents whole lives even like how they were treated by their parents which made them how they are now. And like...my mom having 5 kids by the time she was 30 and how crazy that is...lol
THANK YOU FOR THIS COMMENT!!! I was just thinking....am I kinda special for thinking this same thing on a random Tuesday morning when I was 22.....sober....like......

What Leary took down with him was the central illusion of a whole life-style that he helped create... a generation of permanent cripples, failed seekers, who never understood the essential old-mystic fallacy of the Acid Culture: the desperate assumption that somebody... or at least some force - is tending the light at the end of the tunnel. He is absolutely right. It's easy to see evil in others but it can be hard to see it in yourself or come to the realization that you are capable of extraordinary good or evil even at the same time. It's all about perspective.
Yeah, but this is a big drug-induced trip so... it's easy back sober realizing you most likely are nowhere near a Hitler in terms of evil, that's pretty easy to avoid. The more realistic task is dealing with the dweller - the small little things you do in your life that are shitty, the blind-spots that aren't really blind but you shove away to lessen the sting instead of looking at and dealing with right away. Character flaws. We all have them, but that doesn't really absolve us from picking them up and dealing with them. Ultimately if you blow that up with a giant dose of drugs, maybe you can create a vision of how that is the path to Hitlerdom, but back on the ground it's not that bad, just embarrasing, humiliating to realize how small things can knock the wind out of your sails and that you have ugly sides that hurt you.
its not seeing it in yourself. most cant see that kind of evil in themself. he simply had a deeper realization that he was capable through connectivity. right or wrong mostly wrong

@@solodolotrevino yes. As McKenna said, "you can sweep temple steps for twenty years and hope maybe you get enlightenment, or you can take 5 grams of mushrooms." Also, obviously, I'd include psilocybin and other psychedelics. I'm glad to hear about ketamine here, too. While not a classic psychedelic, it can give powerfully spiritual experiences. The only thing I question is if pharmaceutical companies and psychiatrists get control of these, they'll ruin them. They'll find a way to wreck the experiences.
Psychedelic’s definitely have potential to deal with mental health symptoms like anxiety and depression, I would like to try them again but it’s just so hard to source here
yes its a very shattering experience when you first recognize that the same evil that exists in other people also exists in you. The later in life you learn this the harder it is to take. From what ive seen, people over 30 who haven't learned it almost will never accept it. People consider themselves pure, no more than the image they represent to themselves and the world. Capacity for benevolence and malevolence is in all of us. What you don't understand about yourself will end up controlling you (and to some degree theres always something you don't understand about yourself. Even the buddha)
and this is what the Bible says. From day1..we are all the same, born with sin. Everyone does their amount of sin...some goes as far as Hitler. Some don't. But ultimately, we know we have the capacity.
@@brittneylately yeahhhh.... but original sin is different than the idea that we are all capable of sin and evil. People tend to interpret the bible as being very literal. Being born with sin is more commonly referred to as we're all born as inherently bad people and the only way to get into heaven is to repent for your crimes. Which is a terribly misguided way of looking at things

@@RodHockeyLeague Not just right now. All throught human history. We are all the same. I didn't find this out through DMT but through a book called "a long way gone" by Ishmael Beah. It's an autobiography about how his country Sierra Leone went through a civil war. He lost his village and survived on berries and scraps for years with other traumatized boys, and then watched his family burn, and became a coke-addict murderer for what he thought were the good guys to get revenge (and because he enjoyed it after some time). Then he was taken away from the fighting and lived with a regular family and became a normal, moral guy who cries at his actions daily and has PTSD. Literally was a serial killer and a soft-spoken author in one life. This man just learned it through a drug instead. We are all the same, we are all one
I'm a grad student studying English literature, basically a literature major, and this is what we looked into in my literary theory class. All languages are signifying systems and they are socially constructed. What we think about as a society and how we think about reality is embedded within our language. Basically because English is a socially constructed meaning system, it's all interpretation of what we believe "things" or reality means.
@@socjlm82 wait, so how does this differentiate English from any other language being socially constructed, or defining and interpreting meaning using words. I want to be on y’all’s side here, buuuuut that didn’t really change anything about any other languages.
@@codywskaggs It applies to all languages. In Linguistic anthropology, you learn about the "family tree" of languages: as populations moved around, languages took a geographical tone, since there were things you could find in some places but not others, so new words and pronunciations were invented, so the original language did not die, it just morphed. So yes, all other languages are "related" to English, and English is related to all other languages, just like all humans are connected by DNA.

Right, it seems very obvious to be honest. I guess thats how much people actually don't really look inside themselves at all.

The best defense against evil is to suspect everyone but smile a lot.

Agreed. Drivel
We are all wired into a survival trip now. No more of the speed that fueled that 60's. That was the fatal flaw in Tim Leary's trip. He crashed around America selling "consciousness expansion" without ever giving a thought to the grim meat-hook realities that were lying in wait for all the people who took him seriously... All those pathetically eager acid freaks who thought they could buy Peace and Understanding for three bucks a hit. But their loss and failure is ours too.

Ultimately if you blow that up with a giant dose of drugs, maybe you can create a vision of how that is the path to Hitlerdom, but back on the ground it's not that bad, just embarrasing, humiliating to realize how small things can knock the wind out of your sails and that you have ugly sides that hurt you.
its not seeing it in yourself. most cant see that kind of evil in themself. he simply had a deeper realization that he was capable through connectivity. right or wrong mostly wrong

yes its a very shattering experience when you first recognize that the same evil that exists in other people also exists in you.

Our values and priorities as a collective are very selfish and fear based.
@ J Mack No, it wouldn't be "up to him," though he would remain responsible for his actions.
I agree.
That statement on how the English language is an example of collective consciousness is actually so simple yet so breathtaking.
@@codywskaggs Um...pretty sure it applies to every language.
@@codywskaggs he’s reffering to all languages, but using English as an example
@@codywskaggs It applies to all languages. In Linguistic anthropology, you learn about the "family tree" of languages: as populations moved around, languages took a geographical tone, since there were things you could find in some places but not others, so new words and pronunciations were invented, so the original language did not die, it just morphed. So yes, all other languages are "related" to English, and English is related to all other languages, just like all humans are connected by DNA.
