    I think there’s some context here. If you read Paul’s letters to the early Church, he addresses how some of the newest Christians were still practicing pagan rituals, and eating food dedicated to pagan idols. Corinthians has a few of these examples.

    • @StartupHustleHub
      @StartupHustleHub 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Here’s some context
      1. Idolatry and Meat Sacrificed to Idols:
      • 1 Corinthians 8:4-6:
      “So then, about eating food sacrificed to idols: We know that “An idol is nothing at all in the world” and that “There is no God but one.” For even if there are so-called gods, whether in heaven or on earth (as indeed there are many “gods” and many “lords”), yet for us there is but one God, the Father, from whom all things came and for whom we live; and there is but one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom all things came and through whom we live.”
      2. Participation in Pagan Feasts:
      • 1 Corinthians 10:14-22:
      “Therefore, my dear friends, flee from idolatry. I speak to sensible people; judge for yourselves what I say. […] Do I mean then that food sacrificed to an idol is anything, or that an idol is anything? No, but the sacrifices of pagans are offered to demons, not to God, and I do not want you to be participants with demons. You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons too; you cannot have a part in both the Lord’s table and the table of demons.”
      3. Pagan Philosophies:
      • Colossians 2:8:
      “See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the elemental spiritual forces of this world rather than on Christ.”

      It’s all repurposed. Literally every continent has this issue. In Miami they just unearthed an 8,000 yr old site. Pre dig they already had statues up at the mouth of the river naming it after the people. The Vatican isn’t going to release any information that’s of honest truth unless it benefits them. They are the new age library of Alexandria. The cardinal signatures to release documentation is such insanity.
      The first image Looks like a depiction of zodiac with 12 people in the background on that first “ritual”
      They are called spirits for a reason .
      It’d be soooooo weird if they depicted a weaver that was actually a person weaving lies as a double entendre into the fabric of society as a origin story footnote for subversion.

      They're surprised because our current culture sees psychedelics as something fringe. The idea that psychedelics are a big part of the origins of our culture is a contradiction to this fringe view. This tension combined with the difficulty of actually providing concrete proof for historical psychedelic use, causes people to doubt these claims.

The Romans used wine obviously for this purpose and called it "posca", added some herbs, salt, and even honey and coriander to give it a nice citrus taste.

    It is fascinating to look into the history of psychedelic mushrooms. I did a few videos on this. There was an ancient cult centered around these mushrooms. On my channel, I review John Allegro's controversial book, "The Sacred Mushroom and the Cross", published in 1970. Allegro's book caused an outage among Christians with his theories regarding the red and white Amanita Muscaria mushroom. His work is intriguing and controversial.

    So one issue I am hearing. He is combining Christianity and Catholicism which are two totally different religions. Catholicism is strongly based in Idolatry and believing in things like purgatory where the dead are in a place of in-between but Christianity believes in a living god and that when your body dies you immediately go to your afterlife and there is no in-between. I was hoping for something solely focused on Christianity because combining them makes all this irrelevant.

    For context early Christian Cults separated out from main stream due to Gnosticism. This is going to show you all kind of crazy variants of Christianity and definitely would fit the bill with psychedelic usage. This was likely from pagans who became Christian and didn't completely give up their pagan practices. We're specifically instructed in scripture over and over again to maintain a sober mind. Below are some examples.
    1 Peter 5:8 - Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:
    1 Peter 1:13 - Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ;
    Titus 2:12 - Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;
    1 Peter 4:7 - But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer.
    1 Timothy 3:2 - A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach;
    Titus 2:2 - That the aged men be sober, grave, temperate, sound in faith, in charity, in patience.
    Titus 2:6 - Young men likewise exhort to be sober minded.
    Ephesians 5:18 - And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;

      @@calamfischer7009 You said "get wasted" and of course hallucinogens (nightshades like belladonna) were mentioned in both Greek and Roman mythos so idk what you mean by "no mention". Are you talking about your own statement? Because 3 day-long trips, zoanthropy, catacomb-based rituals, etc... Nightshades are written all over this. Nobody even comes up with such ridiculous and lofty notions or ideas for something like *catacombs* without chthonic tropane-based nightshades being clearly linked to it. I think you've just gotten numb to preset bodies of traditions and lore and think humans just naturally start this weird ritual shit without psychoactives or influence from other societies/cultures that did. Well spoiler alert; they don't.
      "Probably best to pass down an interesting story rather than a boring one."
      Are you really saying what I think you're saying? Because ancient Greeks and Romans *not* using hallucinogens isn't even a real theory. We already know full-well they did use them. The "theoretical" part here is whether or not Mycenaean and/or ancient Roman occult rites were transferred to early Christians.
      Also passing down a story because it's interesting.... You're real cute lol. I've been researching world history for a while now, as well as mythopoetic etiology and.. that's just not how that works. This is totally an example of projecting modern-day norms/modalities onto ancient civilizations in the most ostentatious fashion possible. You realize the ancient Greco-Roman world was before even the Middle Ages right? Do you have any idea how people in theological/magico-religious circles conducted themselves back then?

    • @Ryan88881
      @Ryan88881 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@calamfischer7009 Also I actually meant to say 'Hellenistic' rather than Mycenaean specifically here but it doesn't really matter because Mycenaean mythos/religion was the precursor to Hellenistic religion anyways, and the precursor for Mycenaean religion was Minoan religion from the island of Crete. And yes, the Minoans used drugs in rituals as well because back then that's what "ritual" basically meant well over 90% of the time. Not using that as the metric or justification here but just trying to put things into perspective for you. Also, for what it's worth mandrake is mentioned twice in the Bible itself but that's beside the point.

      I wasn't alive back then so I dont know the exact day to days of thier lives but they did leave behind some cool stories. I have a theory that they used Medusa to explain south america. Griffins to explain north america. Cerberus for Australia and new Zealand. Atlas for Antarctica. And that's just what makes sense at first look. If you can wrap your head around that. Cool stories... Interesting that scenes from the Odyssey and Aeneid were pictured in early Christian places of worship. Acts of the apostles has a lot of correlations with Virgil's Aeneid that early Christians would've have recognized. They weren't put there by accident, they wanted Christians to know that the Church is the new Rome.
