    Guadalajara won't stay off-the-radar for too much longer, so our advice is to go there fast! It's a very special place and it was the perfect way to say goodbye to 6 amazing weeks in Mexico! We hope you enjoy this Guadalajara video ❤️

    I was born there. I have been in the USA for the past 40 yrs but I can’t wait to retire and return 😢❤ thank you for sharing its 481 years of life. Guadalajara was founded in 1542, 65 yrs before the first American settlers ever in the now United States. We are very proud of our heritage and what we have contributed to the world ❤
    Jericallas were first made by the Spanish Jerica nuns that took care of the orphans in the hospicio Cabañas, they used them to treat malnutrition on the kids and make them stronger 😊

      GDL is a great city! Hopefully you get to go back soon 🙏 And thanks for the info about the Jericallas - nuns sure do make some great pastries around the world 😂

    We is our first stop on our world travel adventures. We are spending a month in Guadalajara and then a month in 5 other states in Mexico. We will be traveling for 5-6 years trying to decide where we’d like to retire.
    Safe travels!

    For the Tortas Ahogadas, you need to put the sandwich in the bag, then dump the sauce in and then take it out lol

      @philschiavone101 Hey! Do you know some affordable vegetarian places or any affordable places to eat in this area? My brother in law is Indian and is struggling with eating over there being a vegetarian. Any help is appreciated

    • @philschiavone101
      @philschiavone101 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@cartus3866 I have not found any true vegetarian restaurants, but Zaguán, Tlaquepasta, Casa Luna, El Patio, and La mata tinta are places that have Vegetarian options. No matter where I have lived in the world, finding restaurants that serve a vegetarian meal with actual vegetables has always been a challenge.

  • @philschiavone101
    @philschiavone101 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Goat meat in Guadalajara does not taste “Goaty” at all. Most places serve the clear consomé on the side. South of where you are at they have a whole bunch of birria restaurants.

    amazing! I'm thinking of visiting GDL next year! I always wonder, people who think Mexico is "dangerous" and a "warzone" everywhere, do they watch these type of videos and what do they think about them if they do?

    • @waysoftheworld_
      @waysoftheworld_  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      That's awesome to hear you're going to GDL. It's one of our favorite cities in Mexico! We have spent a decent amount of time in Mexico and plan to spend more time next year. There has not been one place where we have felt unsafe. And we go everywhere! All that stuff about Mexico being unsafe is just news... obviously things happen, but that's true for everywhere. Mexico is mostly safe, but the news don't want people to believe that, which is a shame. We hope to inspire people to go and travel and see the world with their own eyes 🙏🏼

    • @polepino
      @polepino 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@waysoftheworld_ yes! I do know because I've traveled a lot recently, I've been to CDMX and Bogota, CO, both cities people have said were "dangerous" and I had a blast in both cities. Of course you have to take normal precautions and not look like a lost tourist but we never had problems anywhere we've gone.

  • @lhaineursula5146
    @lhaineursula5146 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Can the folk there speak English ? What if the tourist don’t know how to communicate in Spanish ? I’m planning my trip there but I don’t have friends or relatives there.

    • @waysoftheworld_
      @waysoftheworld_  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi :) So, we don't really know because we always spoke in Spanish with everyone. But we did do a walking tour and the guy spoke perfect English. Our guess would be that in restaurants and stuff, someone would be able to help you order. In the local markets maybe English won't be super common, but the food is always displayed so you can always point at things and maybe learn a couple of food related words in advance to ease the process ;) - We usually write a few words on a post-it that we carry with us when we don't know the language and it helps a lot! Feliz viaje :)

    Pretty sure you had Birria for breakfast and not barbacoa

    • @waysoftheworld_
      @waysoftheworld_  ปีที่แล้ว

      Birria is what we had after barbacoa. Barbacoa are the tortillas dipped in the barbacoa 'juice' and then fried.

      @@waysoftheworld_, it’s true this video does not say that about the downtown. Yes, if I ever go back to Guadalajara, my Dad’s birthplace, I will take a video. I will make sure that I capture more of the sights and sounds, and not just me eating, or ordering food. Adios.
