Im literally crying because I got a crochet kit for Christmas and I’ve been trying to do a slit knot and other things but nothing is helping because I don’t understand- it’s so annoying because I’ve been wanting to start crocheting for ages and now I can’t even do 1 knot it’s annoying and just sad and everyone is saying this is the best one they have found but I don’t understand anything.

Pause the video when you need to, and just enjoy taking it slowly and watching the video closely, and make sure that with your right hand you're able to hold the hook with your thumb and middle finger in same place but on either side of the hook, with your pointer finger on top of the hook. That way, your pointer finger helps hold the hook while your thumb and middle finger can pich the slip knot. And what this form of stitching does is it elongates the tail end (short piece of yarn) from the top, since each time your adding a tiny loop to the top. It should start to look like a thin braid. You got this!:)

Thank you, very much. I've been looking for clear, concise videos for beginners. Personally I've been crocheting for 52 years, but I know a lot of Beginners who are overwhelmed by all the 'beginner' videos on TH-cam. I thought it would be a good idea to scan through the videos and pick the ones I thought were good. I love what you've done here. :-)

I couldn't do it, I couldn't figure out what I was doing wrong and finally after watching this video I understood and was able to start a chain! Thank you so much for making a video that's easily understandable and helpful! ❤

I am starting over again after trying so hard for over a year. I couldn't avoid the spaces in the stitch and when I finished the patterns, there were loops in the stitches. I love crocheting so I am starting over and I find this video very helpful with how far to slide the yarn over the needle once it has been pulled throgugh the loop.

Thank you. You are an awesome teacher. I kept getting stuck on doing the first part of the chain. All everyone kept saying is wrap the yarn around the hook and then pull it through the loop. My yarn kept falling off and I could not get it through the loop. What made the difference was your simple direction to wrap the yarn around the loop, turn face down as you pull the loop through.Thank you. I've now did a chain of 10. So simple but it made all the difference.

Finally, a true teacher who knows all the necessary skills needed and demonstrated them very well. I have spent years trying to find a slip knot that worked. I always ended up with the working yarn tightening the stitch (wrong). And I never knew for sure which way to insert the hook, if it fell out of my chain stitches. In past I was able to crochet an afghan, but.....without a slip knot and sometimes work twisted. Thank you. You are an excellent teacher. I spent 11 years evaluating classroom teachers for state dept. of education. New subscriber, can't wait for next lesson!

This recent polar vortex grounded me indoors and from sheer boredom I decided to give it another shot. This video is amazing and had I found it in the beginning I believe I would have had much better success. Thanks for this series.

Remember the most important part of crocheting is remaining calm and determined! Some things will come easier to some people than others it doesn't mean the people who need more help are stupid or failures it just means they need more help and that's okay cause eventually they'll learn to create beautiful things with just a ball of yarn and their own two hands😁😁

I know this is an old video but I just wanted to say THANK YOU! I’m making something for someone for Christmas and I wanted to make a tiny little crocheted hat. I couldn’t find anything so I decided I better figure out how to crochet. This is the only video that made sense to me.

I've been crocheting for years and was asked to show 10-11-year-olds how to do it. Thank you, this will give me the confidence to do it. Love your videos!

Thank you for the wonderful instruction. I am an absolute beginner, I saw a couple of videos, but had difficulty in understanding the chain stitch, here the twisting instruction made it clear

Watching other tutorials I felt like they were doing magic tricks and no matter how often I watched them I could not quite catch what they were actually doing or how to hold the yarn. Very frustrating as I have been a knitter for many years and wanted to master crochet. And now thanks to you by Jove I think I have got it!!

hani_chan desu you can use any hook just use yarn that suits the hook. Search it on the Internet and you might have a table pop up
      For example:
3.5 mm - 4.00 mm hook Double knit yarn

Omg I’ve done it! I really didn’t think I’d get it but this video is great! The key is on twisting the hook down as you pull through. Thanks!
