The size/weight ratio simply does not compute for me. There has got to be some black magic involved to make a typical grete swerde of war weigh little more than two and half pounds. I love the slightly flared shoulder, reminds me of the Moonbrand owned by Oakeshott though that's a type XIIIb sword. You guys are the luckiest in the world being able to review 3 Atrims in a row! Merry Christmas, sword brothers!
WHAT ALCHEMY IS THIS?!?!? That was honestly the reaction picking that sword up. It's insane. I hope you and your family are keeping well up in the northlands this holiday season!
Totally my style 🤘💀 I love the black on black. XIIs and XIIIs are my favourites, there's just something about them. They're kinda like a two handed viking sword and that really appeals to me. I got a HT great sword of war in the spring and it kicks ass. 3lbs 14oz if memory serves. But it doesn't feel like its almost 4 pounds at all. It definitely has blade presence and you are aware its not light, but one handed swings are not out of the question. So this sword being over a pound lighter would be crazy! It's sort of a baby XIII
I've heard many good things about the HT Great sword of war. That's a good looking sword, I'll have to get one someday to review it. And I totally agree, there's just something about those early Warswords that speaks to me. Thanks for watching! 🤘🏼
@@UnsheathedSwordReviews I know Andy has a HT great sword of war. Maybe he would trade it to you in the next prisoner exchange 🤘💀 looking forward to the HT 9th.c viking sword review. And since you guys haven't had time for the cawood yet maybe you could do a comparison/double review. That would be cool to see Merry Christmas guys 🎄
I love a longer sword that you can wield one or two handed even though it looks like it's supposed to be a two-handed sword someday I need to get my hands on something like this to play with
@UnsheathedSwordReviews you know in a way that's kind of a good thing that just shows the amount of amazing craftsmanship that went into it. I mean you know me I do mostly budget swords but I tell you what I would love to have a chance to handle something like that I bet that I would be very confused LOL
Vic and I have had this conversation. And you are exactly right. There was a point where the most "high end" sword we'd held was a Darksword Armory piece. And we were almost derisive of people that talked about other swords feeling better. We lacked the vocabulary to describe the difference in quality until we actually held a legit "good" longsword. That said, it's an experience with having.
@UnsheathedSwordReviews I have a basic idea of what you mean I've handled a lot of different budget stores and there's a big difference between a budget sword just to have a sword that's supposed to be functional and a budget sword that's actually decent and there's a lot and you probably know this from experience a lot of in between. Sometimes even from the same company there might be a drastic difference between the quality of the overall feel of one sword versus another. I mean I've had swords that were $150 and less that I absolutely adored and then I've had swords that were like $200 that really irritated me. Decent example for Budget will be my hanwei war sword feels decent but a sword that made me really mad when I got it is the Opera Nova by Deepeeka no surprise there though. You guys already know that r o m is pretty good for such an inexpensive budget range company a couple Little gems that you guys have probably heard of it may have had are the Condor to a nice kingfisher which I initially hated but now it's one of my favorite cutting swords and the Cobra steel kindjal buy windlass I know they're not long swords but they're really inexpensive and really fun and cut very well in my humble opinion. But yes I definitely need to have some experiences with higher-end swords not that money necessarily makes a sword better but just in general there are some very good high-quality swords of well renowned out there like angstrom, Sterling armory , etcetera.
It's definitely a hefty price tag. Have you looked at the Hanwei Tinker Great sword of War? Or the Kingston Arms Warsword? Both are XIIIa and the Kingston is an Atrim Design. The Hanwei in particular has a great reputation. Both are good lower priced options. Thanks for watching!
@@UnsheathedSwordReviews I soured on Hanwei when I saw the very bad weld holding the pommel on to my Hanwei Tactical Broadsword. One side impact would snap it off and ruin the sword's balance. Thanks for the advice.
Nope. Refinement was what I was going for. A piece can be embellished without being refined. For example, a sub $200 Chinese katana with tons of cheap rough casting all over the tsuka and saya is embellished but unrefined. This sword is not embelished, but it is also less refined than would be many other swords at this price point. That's important for folks to know, because if someone were to want ta very refined piece, (which you can definitely get for this money), this is probably not the sword for them. Thanks for watching.
What a beauty

This sword broke my brain.

Great review. I'm very interested in the 13A but I don't have the $1300. Alas.

I think the word you were looking for was embellishment. And I think it would look great on a wall! 😃
