The stewart copeland signature snare has a die-cast rop and triple flanged bottom for this exact reason. Great sounding snare. I'd love to hear a tom and snare test for jg trhough differenr thicknesses and styles of hoops with just singlw ply heads. Ive tried a lot ovee time. Ive landed on heavier triple flanged. My acrolite has the s-hoops and i love it
I had a late 50s Gretsch 8 lug wood snare with an early 70s diecast on top, and a thin triple flange on the bottom, partly inspired by Stewart Copeland's snare. I set it up with Ambassadors, a 42 strand snare, and updated it with a new Gibraltar throw off. It was a great studio snare, and a friend of mine would borrow it from time to time for sessions. I didn't mind, because he's always toss a new head in the case when he was done. I ended up losing it to an ex-friends drug habit.
Heck yes on this collaboration!
They we're a pleasure to work with!
